Request for Review of Quantum Knowledge Graphs

I am Co-PI on a proposal to the National Science Foundation's Proto-OKN project (https://www.nsf.gov/pubs/2023/nsf23571/nsf23571.htm). We are developing knowledge graphs for quantum computing, networks, and sensing, and intend to use data from Wikipedia to inform our graphs. I am reaching out to see if you or your colleagues might, assuming we're awarded the grant, be interested in evaluating knowledge graphs developed by our team, for accuracy with Wikipedia content, as user evaluation is a required component of the NSF grant.

If it helps, we are encouraged in the proposal to include budget lines for evaluators, so that their time will be paid. In the event we're awarded the grant, I'd be happy to discuss options for compensation.

At this stage, all that we would need is filling in the template below which was provided on the NSF grant announcement linked above:

"If the proposal submitted by Dr. Barry Smith entitled "Quantum Understanding through Accessible Knowledge Graphs (QUARK)" is selected for funding by NSF, it is my intent to collaborate as detailed in the Project Description of the proposal."

Where in this case, the details described in the project description relevant to Wikipedia would be as evaluators of the content of our knowledge graphs for accuracy against Wikipedia.

Conventional superconductor

It's been a while since I was in the field of superconductivity, but I have never taken "conventional" to be synonymous with "Type-I", as the newly merged Type-I superconductor article implies. Do you have references that define "conventional" in this way? Also, this merger makes the article self-contradictory, as it lists Niobium as an example (of type-I), and then states (correctly) that it is type-II. If there was a discussion on this matter, I apologize for not chiming in sooner, but I'm fairly certain that Niobium is an example of a superconductor that is both conventional (meaning explained by BCS) and type-II. Sorry you didn't see my earlier reply. I don't know whether to have the conversation on one person's Talk page, or split it between them. Anyway, I just wanted to write to explain why I reverted "Type-I" back to it's stub version from before the merger. I meant to do this last night. Notability of Heinz London

A tag has been placed on Heinz London requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

Type-I, Type-II superconductor images

The images you created [1] are very nicely done, but there are some aspects of them that are misleading. In particular, I don't think the Cooper pairs should be thought of as localized objects like you've drawn. I would avoid Cooper pairs completely; after all, the Ginzburg-Landau theory explains the type-I, type-II distinction without using the concept of Cooper pairs. The coherence length doesn't need to refer to the size of Cooper pairs, but rather the length scale over which a material can change from normal to superconducting. My recommendation is to go with a picture that contrasts what the magnetic field lines look like in the type-I and type-II state. For example, this website [2] has some good illustrations. I'm sorry to be negative about your picture, because I appreciate the effort. Wikipedia would indeed benefit from more images, so I hope you continue your work. Capita per Medal maps

Equo

Hi, Eynar, I was perfectly aware of the document you've provided. However, such a document, though hosted in the EGP web site, is not a document endorsed by the Secretariat of EGP, but simply a document signed between Equo and ICV. As you know, the EGP Rule Book (available here) describes the procedure to become first a candidate and, two years later, a full member (see article 5). Therefore, the reference you need is as simple as an acknowledge by the EGP Secretariat of having received Equo application, as described by section 3 in article 5. Mind that it's an acknowledge issued by the Secretariat (not by another full member). Assuming that a document signed by a full member and another party is a proof of the existence of such an acknowledge is a clear syntesis (although sensible). Unfortunately, Wikipedia must not include information that seems "sensible" (such a document is possibly related to article 6.4 in the Rule Book, but we may only presume it, not stating it), but information that is referenced (remember our mantra "Verificability, not truth"). To sum up, once the Secretariat makes it public that the application has been received and that it has issued an acknowledge, it is possible to say that Equo is in process of becoming a candidate member. Yes, I'm also aware of that, but mind that the table in the article talks about the members of the EGP; and Equo is not a member (if you go to annex B in the Rule Book, approved in November 2011, you can see the list of full and observer members; maybe Equo is a candidate member, but it's not actually known). A suggestion could be including a note linked from the Spain cells in the table including the information about the explicit support of the EGP to Equo in the last Spain's election, but again, Wikipedia cannot say that Equo is any kind of EGP member until the EGP says it, doesn't it? Love dart

Hello Eynar, I see you are the person who took two of the really great photos of love darts being used by Helix aspersa in 2008. I also see that you photographed the love dart after it had been used. Did you actually pull it out of the animal after it had been fired, or did the dart fall out by itself? I noticed that you are involved with the physics articles on Wikipedia, and I was wondering if you could help me out. Right now, I'm working to bring the article AdS/CFT correspondence to FA status. So far, people have had many good suggestions and many positive things to say about the article, but I'm having trouble getting people to support or oppose the nomination.
