Guy Sebastian

When I meant at the bottom, I didn't mean literally at the bottom. Personal life sections usually come after the Music career section. I've really not seen a musician article that has the personal life come after the early life. Its usally Early life then music career. And theres really no need to expand what it says in the personal life section because its nothing major. ozurbanmusic (talk) 03:32, 9 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Its vandalism to me when its unsourced and added in the early life section. That sort of information is really not needed on the article. And the personal life section looks better at the bottom. They don't go after the early life. A good example of this is the Beyonce Knowles article. ozurbanmusic (talk) 03:37, 9 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Did you check the Manual of Style in regards to the layout? Regards, —Ғяіᴆaз'§ĐøøмChampagne? • 2:39pm • 03:39, 9 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

What about the layouts? they look fine just the way they are and have no problems. Please do not add the X Factor slip up in the lead, as it should not go there. You can add in the X Factor section in the Other ventures but I think its really not needed. ozurbanmusic (talk) 03:47, 9 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia omits nothing, it's an encyclopedia, I moved it to the X-Factor section. What about layout? It has to conform to the Manual of Style... if an article doesn't conform it gets deleted. Regards, —Ғяіᴆaз'§ĐøøмChampagne? • 2:55pm • 03:55, 9 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

An update from adopt a user

Hi there M.O.X! You may be wondering, what have I done to sound the alarm this time? Nothing. I'm messaging you in regards to the adopt-a-user program, which currently has a backlog of users wishing to be adopted. This doesn't make much sense, as we have a considerable list of users offer adoption, so there shouldn't be any backlog. I've begun to eliminate this backlog myself through a matching program, but I need your help to make it work. Of course, adoptees and adopters don't have to go through there, but I believe it helps eliminate the backlog because someone is actively matching pairs.

On the list of adopters, I have modified the middle column to say "Interests." It's easier working with other users that have similar interests, so if it's not too much to ask, could you add your interests in the middle column? For example, if I was interested in hurricanes, computers, business, and ... reptiles? I would place those in the middle column. Counter-vandalism and the like can also be included (maintenance should be used as the general term). The more interests, the better, since adoptees can learn more about you and choose the one they feel most comfortable working with. The information about when you're most active and other stuff can go into the "Notes" section to the right.

Finally, I've gone around and asked adoptees (and will in the future) to fill in a short survey so adopters can take the initiative and contact users they feel comfortable working with. We all know that most adoptees just place the adopt me template on their user page and leave it - so it's up to us to approach them and offer adoption. So, please take a look at the survey, adopt those that fit your interests, and maybe watchlist it so you can see the interests of adoptees and adopt one that fits your interests in the future.

Once again, thank you for participating in the adopt-a-user program! If you wish to respond to this post, please message me on my talk page.

1. What is vandalism? - Vandalism is the act of incorrecting information on a certain page.

2. List 3 situations where a edit which could be considered vandalism, may not actually be vandalism. - Accidently mistyping a certain word, editing incorrect information to incorrect information and editing incorrect information to correct information (though the reverter may not think it's correct?)

3. What are obvious indicators of a vandalism edit while watching recent changes? - Very tiny bytes added and IP addresses shown instead of users to hide identities.

4. How do you revert vandalism? - Go to 'Recent Changes' and find a IP addressed edit, rollover the link (this requires popups), click 'Actions' then 'Revert'. The script then reverts the page back before it was vandalised.

5. What warning template would you use if a user removed or blanked all the content from a page? - If that user hadn't vandalised before, you would add a Level 1 template. If they have once, you give them a Level 2 and so on and so forth.

6. What warning template would you use if a user add the words "i really hate wikipedia!" to an article? - As I said before, if that user hadn't vandalised before, you would add a Level 1 template. If they have once, you give them a Level 2 and so on and so forth.

7. How do you add an article to your watchlist? - Since I have the old version, I am going to explain it by the old version. You go to the page you would like to watch and click 'Watch' at the top of the page.

8. If you misuse such tools as WP:TW or WP:VPRF what could happen? - You could get blocked. You shouldn't use it if you don't understand how to use it.

Request, and a talkback

  • Hi Fridae, I have a request to make. When you post any new message on my talk page, and if the same relates to a new occurrence, kindly do post the messages at the bottom of my talk page rather than appending your new messages to some old messages that you may have left on my talk page. You've also in between appended your messages to one other editor's message on my talk page. I have noticed you do the same on some other editors' talk pages too. This all may well be inadvertent and in all probability is an oversight. Therefore, please do take care in the future, at least on my talk page, as I might simply miss your message given that I have many messages on my talk page. Also, I have replied on my talk page with respect to your request to get back your ACC permission which I had withdrawn post your suspension from the ACC Tool Server interface. And not many primary sources either. I can really see why it was deleted, viewing it makes me realize just how non-notable it must've looked, length of the article aside. Fridae, do you know anywhere where I can get a source for confirming the release date (both test and live, though live is the more necassary). It doesn't have to be third-party, since its just there for confirmation, but if it is third-party, that'd be nicer (as it establishes some, albeit a small amount of, notability). Dear gods, I'm wondering if anyone actually checked IGN for sources for AQWorlds when it was on AfD. How many more sources do we need? Harry Blue5 (talk) 21:23, 22 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
It wasn't so much as I had trouble splitting the plot into subsections, but a subsection for every zone was overkill. I was planning on reducing it, preferably to one paragraph per zone or some such, and then seeing what fitted where. Harry Blue5 (talk) 23:16, 22 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
We could shorten it to just being the Chaos Beast and the Chaos Lord, then see how we can reasonably expand that. Harry Blue5 (talk) 00:03, 23 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
I think the problem is that it was originally being updated each release, making it so loads of unessential information was added. The Dwarfhold segment really should be "The dwarves are being enslaved by Vath, a Drow DragonLord who is magically controlling a dragon named Stalagbite. Vath uses the dwarves to summon the Roc Roc but is defeated by the player and dragged off by Stalagbite." However as it stands the Vath bit last a few paragraphs, and when you read it in the plot it all sounds a lot more important than it actually is. Harry Blue5 (talk) 00:23, 23 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
Should we make AdventureQuest Worlds a proper article now? We seem to have enough sources, and we can always shorten the article's plot later, perhaps even with the help of other people. Or we could just hope for the best and hope some random guy does it for us. Harry Blue5 (talk) 22:19, 26 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hi Fridae'sDoom! At the top of your user page are three icons that I would like to add to the topicons on my userpage. The only problem is that you are transcluding and so I cannot see the code that produces them. I am interested in the following that appear in the top right corner: Huggle, AWB, and Unified Logon (Global). Any direction you could give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! — SpikeToronto 04:19, 31 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

P.S. Please answer here as I have your page watchlisted and it keeps the thread in one place. Thanks! — SpikeToronto 04:20, 31 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Sure, I've put them in User:Fridae'sDoom/Header. Keep up the good work here and at ACC. Regards, —Ғяіᴆaз'§ĐøøмChampagne? • 3:22pm • 04:22, 31 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
Thanks! It’s all done here. You have quite the collection! — SpikeToronto 04:47, 31 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
You're welcome :D heh yeah, I used to have more but they didn't really describe me that well as I don't fall into any general editing philosophy, hence my multiple userboxes. Regards, —Ғяіᴆaз'§ĐøøмChampagne? • 6:26pm • 07:26, 31 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
I used to have tonnes of userboxes, but I moved them all to a subpage in my user namespace that I do not link to from my userpage. Maybe one day I’ll clean them up and put a userbox link on my userpage. On another note, I never realized that one should track everything one does. So, I have no record of pages I’ve marked for speedy that got deleted, stubs I’ve cleaned up, stubs I’ve turned into full articles, articles whose bare URL references, I’ve fleshed out, etc. It seemed too tooting-one’s-horn for me; but, now I see that it has some importance here on Wikipedia. (sigh). Thanks again for letting me into the secret world of your header file. By the way, how do you get the stuff to transclude into your userpage, as you do, without there being any transclusion coding (e.g., {{User:Fridae'sDoom/Header}})? Thanks! — SpikeToronto 18:32, 31 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
I copied the code and put it into one of my many subpages, but it's not possible to transclude without having the actual code in the twiggy brackets. I don't keep track of anything these days lol. Regards, —Ғяіᴆaз'§ĐøøмChampagne? • 9:55am • 22:55, 31 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

WikiCup 2010 October newsletter

The 2010 WikiCup is over! It has been a long journey, but what has been achieved is impressive: combined, participants have produced over seventy featured articles, over five hundred good articles, over fifty featured lists, over one thousand one hundred "did you know" entries, in addition to various other pieces of recognised content. A full list (which has yet to be updated to reflect the scores in the final round) can be found here. Perhaps more importantly, we have our winner! The 2010 WikiCup champion is   Sturmvogel_66 (submissions), with an unbelievable 4220 points in the final round. Second place goes to   TonyTheTiger (submissions), with 2260, and third to   Casliber (submissions), with 560. Congratulations to our other four finalists –   White Shadows (submissions),   William S. Saturn (submissions),   Staxringold (submissions) and   ThinkBlue (submissions). Also, congratulations to   Sasata (submissions), who withdrew from the competition with an impressive 2685 points earlier in this round.

Prizes will also be going to those who claimed the most points for different types of content in a single round. It was decided that the prizes would be awarded for those with the highest in a round, rather than overall, so that the finalists did not have an unfair advantage. Winning the featured article prize is   Casliber (submissions), for five featured articles in round 4. Winning the good article prize is   Sturmvogel_66 (submissions), for eighty-one good articles in round 5. Winning the featured list prize is   Staxringold (submissions), for six featured lists in round 1. Winning the picture and sound award is   Jujutacular (submissions), for four featured pictures in round 3. Winning the topic award is   Sturmvogel_66 (submissions), for forty-seven articles in various good topics in round 5. Winning the "did you know" award is   TonyTheTiger (submissions), for over one hundred did you knows is round 5. Finally, winning the in the news award is   Candlewicke (submissions), for nineteen articles in the news in round three.

The WikiCup has faced criticism in the last month – hopefully, we will take something positive from it and create a better contest for next year. Like Wikipedia itself, the Cup is a work in progress, and ideas for how it should work are more than welcome on the WikiCup talk page and on the scoring talk page. Also, people are more than welcome to sign up for next year's competition on the signup page. Well done and thank you to everyone involved – the Cup has been a pleasure to run, and we, as judges, have been proud to be a part of it. We hope that next year, however the Cup is working, and whoever is running it, it will be back, stronger and more popular than ever. Until then, goodbye and happy editing!
