Help me! edit

Please help me with... Hi I am well at home and am currently writing on Wikipedia some knowledge I learnt from videos about revolutions and protests. A lot of protests are not on the Wikipedia articles so i decided to do the editing. I will wish to have to do the tutorial but in the future or in a couple of weeks I can do it. Can I also ask, how does Wikipedia translate pages. Thank you for offering. Idrees Idreeshussain123 (talk) 16:15, 29 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi Idreeshussain123! Thanks for wanting to help improve Wikipedia! To learn how to do these things, I suggest you do the tutorial, or look at the other pages listed here. When writing for Wikipedia, you must make sure everything is verifiable using reliable sources - you can get help finding sources at the reference desk. To learn how to write about protests, you may want to join a relevant WikiProject - such as WikiProject Sociology, or WikiProject Politics. To learn how to translate pages from another language into English, you can read more here: Wikipedia:Translation; and to learn how to translate pages from English into another language, you can read more here: Wikipedia:Translate us. Hopefully this has helped, but if you need more help, you could visit the Teahouse, or you can click this link to ask a question, or just leave a message on my talk page. Speedy deletion nomination of 2012-13 Togolese protests edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on 2012-13 Togolese protests requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://century.gramanukasinas.tk/, https://from.rconopwearatmoi.tk/, and https://young.comtutecanba.tk/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Speedy deletion policy

Idrees Hussain Hello I did not PASTE the protests in the 2011-2012 Senegalese protests or the 2007-09 Yemen protests so please take the policy AWAY ! Than you

Hi, we're not saying you pasted anything, just that the content of the article was too similar to the 3 articles listed above. Please be sure when writing atricles that you perfectly allowed to use these sources and cite them, but, it must be phrased in your own words. (note that I also looked at your article 2005 Togo protests and riots yesterday and it was perfectly ok to remain on wikipedia I tagged some minor issues). Wikipedia and copyright edit

Hello Idreeshussain123, and welcome to Wikipedia. Your additions to 2007-2009 Yemen protests have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

 • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
 • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
 • We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. All other images must be made available under a free and open license that allows commercial and derivative reuse to be used on Wikipedia.
 • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
 • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Spiderone 18:49, 16 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Student conflict in Bangladesh into another page. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from page name; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted copied template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. Spiderone 14:09, 20 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to introduce inappropriate pages to Wikipedia, you may be blocked from editing. If you need guidance on how to create appropriate pages, try using the Article Wizard. You have been creating a large number of articles on protests in various countries. Wikipedia welcomes articles on protests or other newsworthy events provided that they are supported by reliable sources and otherwise comply with Wikipedia guidelines. However, at least ten of these articles have been moved to draft space as not ready for article space, primarily because of the lack of reliable sources. If you are not sure what constitute adequate reliable sources, please use Articles for Creation and create your articles in draft space, where they will be reviewed by other experienced editors. If you need advice, you may ask for advice at the Teahouse. If you continue to create articles that are not ready for article space, it may be necessary to topic-ban you from directly creating articles in article space.

References edit

I do not know how to use references when I am always blocked from using references.

Please read Wikipedia:Citing sources from start to finish and make sure that the next article that you create contains references as instructed. You are not blocked from using references. What you are strongly discouraged from doing is copying and pasting from other sources as this is a breach of copyright law. You are also strongly discouraged from copying and pasting from other Wikipedia articles with no attempt to expand on the content as this leads to unnecessary duplication and makes it difficult for the reader to find the initial source of the information. It is essential that you write the articles yourself. For example, another user has rescued 2020 Bangladesh protests for you. Please use this as a base. Spiderone 18:28, 21 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi, are you planning to write an article about them? If yes I'd be happy to help. While it still doesn't exist there is no point in having a red link to it in the Transnistria article, so I'll remove it. Also when it's ready you might want to integrate it into the text of the article itself (History section) rather than in the See also section. Alaexis¿question? 17:47, 25 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 2 weeks for violating copyright policy by copying text or images into Wikipedia from another source without evidence of permission, as you did at 2018-2019 Mongolian protests. If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: .  Moneytrees🏝️Talk🌴Help out at CCI! 18:57, 4 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from 1996 Armenian presidential election protests into another page. Thank you. Spiderone 11:48, 12 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Why Am I Blocked! From tomorrow, you’ll be indefinitely delayed and blocked. Here’s why.

You have not shown proof that I have copied and that you have not been responding to my messages. Please can you check the protests message and make the pages or you actually be blocked.

Thank you|Idrees Hussain]]

Hello Idreeshussain123. You have been blocked because you have copied content from websites that use Creative Commons licenses not compatible with wikipedia, such as https://nvdatabase.swarthmore.edu/content/southern-yemenis-protest-yemeni-central-government-2007-2009-rrrr-rewrite , which is under a BY-NC-ND 4.0 license, and https://monitor.civicus.org/updates/2019/05/03/anti-corruption-protests-force-removal-mongolian-politician-while-president-erodes-democracy/ , which is under a BY-SA 4.0 license. To see a list of compatible licenses please see WP:COMPLIC. You also have not been correctly attributing content you move between pages; when you move text from one wikipedia article to another you need to write something in the edit summary like copied content from page name; see that page's history for attribution. The reason some of your articles are being deleted/having their content removed is because you haven't been attributing and the wikipedia articles you've copied from are confused with other sites that have copied wikipedia. Because you are clearly here in good faith and this appears to be a license issue, I've downgraded the block and you are no longer on a final warning; that said if you want to be unblocked you must use the template above and demonstrate understanding of what websites not to copy from and how to attributed copying between articles. 2017–2019 Moroccan protests moved to draftspace edit

An article you recently created, 2017–2019 Moroccan protests, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. While there are references, large parts of the article remain uncited. In addition, the article is written in a POV tone unsuitable for an encyclopedia article. Please re-write in a neutral tone, and avoid commentary. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Ways to improve 2018 student protests in Colombia edit

Hello, Idreeshussain123,

Thank you for creating 2018 student protests in Colombia.

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

There are references errors - these appear to be in Spanish and need to be written in English to resolve the errors. If this article is a copy of the Spanish Wikipedia article "Paro nacional universitario en Colombia de 2018" you will need to put a note on the talk page of this English version stating that it's content is derived from Spanish Wikipedia. Thank you

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with Joseywales1961. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

I have marked your page as reviewed and made necessary corrections in the article, for example, it wasn’t a nation wide revolt, it was a revolt in northern Nigeria only. The BBC source you used in the article explicitly says so.

Unnecessary articles and unsourced claims edit

Hello. Rather than creating many stub articles on post-election protests, please could you add the information to the election articles in an 'Aftermath' section.

Also, many of the claims you make in the articles are not supported by the sources (for example none of the sources in 2020 Georgian parliamentary election protests mention the use of tear gas). These types of claims need to be sourced. Thank you. Number 57 21:17, 26 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

you’ve added a claim in 2015 Guatemalan Revolution that the protests are called the Guatemalan Spring, which is not supported by the source you cite. Don’t make claims of this sort without support from sources. Likewise in 2018 Vietnam protests you put in all sorts of fanciful and unsupported claims in the article you created. This is a pattern of disruptive editing and you need to stick closely to what your sources say and not add your own interpretations, Mccapra (talk) 21:47, 27 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I am aware that there is wrong knowledge and misunderstanding in my page of 1968 protests in Egypt, because you have Said wrong dates, like 9-10 June 1968 when it is 1967 and it ended in 1969 when it ended in 1968. Please can you check and be concerned about lies in pages and also be aware that it is wrong facts.

Thank you.

1952-1953 Iranian protests moved to draftspace edit

An article you recently created, 1952-1953 Iranian protests, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. Unsourced content, mass creation of stubs, and overall poor article quality edit

Please stop adding multiple stubs to Wikipedia without adding any sources, properly cited sources or overall poor content. Other users have already pointed this out to you. You are adding far too many articles to the website with little to no effort put into any of them. If you continue, these stubs will keep being moved to draft until you add more content and properly source them. See Wikipedia:Verifiability and Wikipedia:Reliable sources. Hello friend. First off, please sign your posts with four tildes ~~~~. This will put your name with your post so that we know it is you talking. Second, the people posting on your talk page are new page patrollers. Every time an article is created on Wikipedia, it is reviewed by a new page patroller, who cleans it up and makes sure that the article follows our policies. The new page patrollers are trying to help you. They are very experienced with Wikipedia policy, and you should listen to them. If you continue to create articles that break our policies, it is disruptive editing, and it could result in admin actions being taken against you. Anyway, hope that helps. 2021 Myanmar protests edit

Hello again Idreeshussain123. I notice you created the 2021 Myanmar protests article and just copy pasted its contents from 2021 Myanmar coup d'état. Just so you know...

 • When doing a copy paste move, you must put a URL to that exact old revision you are copying from. This is for copyright reasons. WP:COPYPASTE#How_about_copying_from_one_Wikipedia_article_to_another?.
 • In this particular example, you should have asked on the Talk:2021 Myanmar coup d'état talk page if it was OK, before doing a copy paste move. Because 2021 Myanmar coup d'état is a very busy page, and nobody knew that you copied the text.
 • Content should be located in one place, not two. If you do get permission to do a copy paste move from people on the original article's talk page, make sure to delete the old text from the old article.
 • Also make sure to add a New article template and a summary paragraph to the old article.

Please message me here or on my talk page if you have any questions. Thanks. –Novem Linguae (talk) 11:59, 4 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

The article 1993 Nigerian presidential election protests has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Already covered in more detail at 1993 Nigerian presidential election#Post-election events

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Note edit

Hello, please take in account that when creating a page with two years in its title, you should use a minus sign (−) rather than a hyphen-minus (-). That is, pages like 2018-2019 Comoran protests should actually be 2018−2019 Comoran protests. This is the common practice in Wikipedia and it's the most appropiate one. Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Protests in Chad edit

A tag has been placed on Category:Protests in Chad requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Liz Read! 2017 Macedonian protests moved to draftspace edit

An article you recently created, 2017 Macedonian protests, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs citations from reliable, independent sources. Speedy deletion nomination of 2021–2022 Iranian protests edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on 2021–2022 Iranian protests requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
