WTAM

Please leave the schedule list for WTAM alone.

There are multiple articles on Wikipedia with a list such as this (such as other radio stations, sports teams, wrestling organization rosters, etc.)

So either change each and every article that has a listing such as this, or just leave WTAM alone.

The list makes the article easier to read, and keeps a uniform look with the other Cleveland radio stations.

Thanks for alerting me to this problem. Per WP:NOTDIR, I'll be converting each of the schedules in the Cleveland area stations to prose directly. Since I'm only concerned with radio station articles at the moment and WP:NOTDIR is Wikipedia policy, not my personal opinion, the schedule grids must go. You'll find that most radio station articles do not have these schedule grids, even among the Cleveland stations, and that any that are found are removed. It's tough to actively patrol 20,000 articles so some may slip by longer than others but they'll eventually all be removed. Oh, and in your blind reversion of my edits, you also undid several other fixes to the WTAM article unrelated to the schedule grid. It's unclear to me why those fixes were undone by you as well. - Dravecky (talk) 13:56, 7 January 2011 (UTC)

Good news! Only 8 of the 38 active radio stations listed in the {{Cleveland Radio}} template had the improper schedule grids. I've converted them all to a proper prose format now... although I see you've once again reverted by WTAM corrections. As I have no desire to get into an edit war, I'll leave it to another WP:WPRS editor to review my changes and make appropriate corrective edits. - Dravecky (talk) 14:48, 7 January 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for adding that source to the France-Monaco relations article. That's one of the list of sources that I suggested to the article creator (on the user talk page) in hopes that s/he would learn something about finding reliable sources for this kind of information. (I knew that the CIA source supported the hook, but I was foolishly trying to play educator instead of simply fixing the article myself...) Speedy deletion nomination of Jersey Circus

It depends on who is doing the editing. I used to do it that way, but in the articles I've mentioned, it seemed clear that the station continued on the new frequency and that's how the station's history is presented--with the call letters, not the frequency. I was reversed in a couple of cases but the articles are back now (after I pointed out that I was told this was recommended procedure) and no one has done it again on those articles. It seems that the history of early Belgian Air Force air squadrons is somewhat convoluted. I have been helping a new editor in his/her efforts to write historical articles upon the subject, ever since I discovered we needed to merge duplicate articles. I lack the ability to straighten out redirects, and am requesting your help. The merged article in question is 9 Squadron (Belgian Air Force), although there may be a couple more articles eventually concerned. Could you please aid a new editor who seems poised to offer some really good work for WP?

Hello Dravecky. I needed to say "Good Job" on catching the Alan/Adam Richman disinformation that the anon IP posted on those pages. I failed to check it when I saw the entry yesterday. In doing so today I found that Adam refers to the fact that his father has passed away in a couple of interviews making it impossible for Alan to be his dad. I figured it out, finally, and it's laid out on the WCNF page. The station was sold and re-sold until it wound up with Victory Broadcasting. They sold it on credit at an inflated price to Jalo Broadcasting who then tried several times to unload it but failed until it eventually came back to Victory in return for cancellation of Jalo's remaining debt. Why a low-powered AM daytimer with a spotty track record in Dothan, Alabama, isn't making money is not exactly a mystery worthy of Sherlock Holmes. - Dravecky (talk) 13:58, 24 January 2011 (UTC)

Yeah, the clear channel frequencies are never good to operate on. Some do well, but most don't. Up here in DC we have an AM 700 (WDMV) and it has never done well with any format. They even got The Greaseman to be on mornings on there and that couldn't do anything. From what I have heard, they are just running music for a couple days in between STAs to remain silent. You really can't do anything on 700 this close to Cincinnati and WLW. - Neutralhomer • Talk • 17:33, 24 January 2011 (UTC)

I was looking at how you fixed up my references on the WRCR (College Radio) page. Can you tell me about the correct use of ref name="tc6212" and ref name="bl94" or point me to a Wiki page that explains their use? I think I understand the other changes you made. I'm using list-defined references, an easy way to keep the text of an article from being cluttered with the bulk of the references (making them easier to edit for new users and to read while looking at the raw text) plus making it very simple to use a reference more than once in an article without duplicating it. You only get part of the benefit when you leave them inline (as I had done previously) so I've finished the job on the WRCR article so you can better see how they work. As to naming, it can be any combination of letters or letters and numbers (but never just numbers). For news sources, I like to use the initials of the publication plus the date so an article in The Collegeian published in December 1962 would be ref name="tc6212". I find a bit of structure to the names makes them easier to find in the list without making them needlessly long or unduly complicated.
