AfDs

what is improper about my AfDs?NewAtThis (talk) 10:52, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

You've nominated after making no effort to locate sources, you nominated as an IP user (68.27.12.1) then commented as NewAtThis, you've nominated for invalid reasons, you've canvassed without acknowledging it in the discussion, and you've ignored many of the AfD guidelines on civility--for starters. It all comes off as some kind of weird revenge for the treatment the "Gayelle" article is receiving in its AfD. I've assumed good faith to this point but that faith it being strongly tested. - Dravecky (talk) 12:10, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

KLCB

We were trying to create the same article at the same time LOL!! Hence I misuploaded the new image, my bad. Milonica (talk) 18:53, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

Heh, and I see you started KLYQ before I could get to it so I just merged my info into your article. So that's Montana finally done! That state has a ton of radio stations considering it's practically unpopulated. Thanks for the assist. - Dravecky (talk!) 19:01, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
I was surprised to find that it had a couple of low power FM stations too in Helena, wow! I think Idaho's next for me, we'll see. Milonica (talk) 19:29, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
One more thing while I'm at it. I'm kind of getting fed up with the script I use for radio stations. How do you go about creating such well written articles? You wouldn't happen to use a script too would you? :D Milonica (talk) 19:31, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
No script, just a text file template for each state. It takes a little longer but I'm happier with the results. - Dravecky (talk) 19:33, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
If you don't mind me asking, is this text file available for other editors, namely myself lol. I'd like to start creating better radio station articles that don't require so many edits to fix. The script I use is really a pain in the butt and is full of errors. Milonica (talk) 19:55, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
Sure thing. I'll put 'em up on a userpage and add the links here in a few minutes. - Dravecky (talk) 20:24, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

Alabama college football venues

Hi, Dravecky. I hope you have been well since the last time we chatted. I just ran across a comment that you left on the talk page of Template:Alabama College Football Venues back in February about Ladd Peebles Stadium. The answer is that it was placed in the bottom with other neutral site stadiums (like Bank of America Stadium in Template:North Carolina College Football Venues). Once the 2008 season is over, then it will move to the Sun Belt section as an active home of a team for 2009. Sorry for the delay in the response. Gwguffey (talk) 01:55, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the clarification! - Dravecky (talk) 06:28, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

Question on Xmtr. coordinates

I'm confused as when I click on the xmtr. coordinates they end up going to some strange page. Admittedly I had reverted them to previous status without clicking, so I apologize for that. Still, I can't figure out what they link to. What is it? Thanks in advance.Stereorock (talk) 02:22, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

They link to the GeoHack tool at WikiMedia. That gives people access to a variety of maps and other resources to locate the transmitter on all manner of maps. - Dravecky (talk) 02:46, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:WVQZ logo.png)

Thanks for uploading Image:WVQZ logo.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:15, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

Bizarre. This image was properly linked an in use within five minutes of it being uploaded and yet 18+ hours later the bot decided it was orphaned? How odd. - Dravecky (talk) 23:39, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
Ah, it appears some jackhole vandal had blanked the page when the bot came sniffing around. - Dravecky (talk) 23:44, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

Big O and Dukes

Is putting factually true information on a page "vandalizing"? Why don't you tell me how I "vandalized" the Big O and Dukes page?

The Wikipedia policy is: "Any good-faith effort to improve the encyclopedia, even if misguided or ill-considered, is not vandalism."

So you, MR. MAN, need to retract your remark, your warning, and anything else. I DID NOT VANDALIZE. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.49.77.67 (talk) 17:14, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

Your edits, which since the article was deleted I cannot review, were either unsourced or unencyclopedic and repeated additions of such material to an article without explanation or discussion is not good faith, it's vandalism. Keep in mind, I was one of the few arguing to keep the "Big O and Dukes" and "Beth Ann McBride" articles. I was also working to being them up to encyclopedia standards to save them and any vandalism to the article only worked against that goal so, in effect, you were working to get those articles deleted! Read through the AfDs for radio articles and you'll see I'm trying to save as many notable articles as I can against a tide of deletionism. Reasoned support and participation will help in this effort. Ad hominem attacks and ignoring the basic principles of the project will not. I hope you're here to help. - Dravecky (talk) 20:02, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
Sez you. Another yoozer has already characterized you as a "douchebag" ACCORDING TO YOU. I choose not to. I simply note that the user above quoted from Wiki material, using the appropriate quotation marks, and you presented assertions as facts. By the rules of rhetoric, gratuitously asserted, just as gratuitously denied. DENIED. You may thank my superb Jesuit education for that free bit of instruction. Interestingly enough, there is an article about Chad Dukes, BUT NONE ABOUT HIS RADIO SHOW. SO A RADIO PERSONALITY IS NOTABLE, BUT HIS SHOW IS NOT? That was Rtphokie's argument, that the show wasn't notable. I shall not characterize him as a douchebag, yet I disagree mightily with his position. Still, I imagine he is a stout fellow, of fine character, enviable in many ways. Yet, though it pains me to say it, his lack of knowledge of the DC radio market weighs against him. - unsigned comment by 68.163.65.123 (talk) 02:29, July 15, 2008

New Project

Myself and several other editors have been compiling a list of very active editors who would likely be available to help new editors in the event they have questions or concerns. As the list grew and the table became more detailed, it was determined that the best way to complete the table was to ask each potential candidate to fill in their own information, if they so desire. This list is sorted geographically in order to provide a better estimate as to whether the listed editor is likely to be active.

If you consider yourself a very active Wikipedian who is willing to help newcomers, please either complete your information in the table or add your entry. If you do not want to be on the list, either remove your name or just disregard this message and your entry will be removed within 48 hours. The table can be found at User:Useight/Highly Active, as it has yet to have been moved into the Wikipedia namespace. Thank you for your help. Useight (talk) 02:39, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

Sounds like fun, count me in. - Dravecky (talk) 04:51, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

Image copyright

Can you please tell what is the copyright status of this image? I tried to find, but confused. Otolemur crassicaudatus (talk) 04:33, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

It's unclear from the website hosting the image but the whole site carries a copyright notice by "Petr Kach" and it appears that his e-mail address is available on the site's homepage. I'd recommend that you contact Mr. Kach directly and inquire as to the source and status of the image. Hope this helps! - Dravecky (talk) 04:38, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

TV stations in Oregon

Thanks for populating Category:Television stations in Bend, Oregon and deleting Category:Television stations in Bend. I have created the matching category plus created and populated both Category:Television stations in Medford, Oregon and Category:Television stations in Eugene, Oregon. Could you go ahead and delete Category:Television stations in Medford and Category:Television stations in Eugene to complete the process? Thanks! - Dravecky (talk) 01:13, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

You're absolutely not supposed to depopulate a category while CfD is in progress. The Medford CfD has not closed. In fact, your original nomination has not changed. You still have it nominated for a renaming that is different from what the CfD participants have suggested. You discussed the rename, but you haven't changed your nomination. Doczilla STOMP! 02:10, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
I'm well aware of that but this CfD is closed—by you as a matter of fact. The still-open discussion is about the radio stations category, not the television stations category. It's an understandable confusion. - Dravecky (talk) 02:28, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
Nope. Sure didn't. Although I can now see why you think so. The links from the categories to their CfDs are wrong on both the Eugene and Medford category pages. Those CfDs are still open. Doczilla STOMP! 02:33, 25 May 2008 (UTC)Hold on. It's more complicated than that. Doczilla STOMP! 02:40, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
Wow, multiple edit conflicts as I try to reply. I guess I'll just wait a few minutes while this gets sorted out before I say any more. - Dravecky (talk) 02:46, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
Thank you. I goofed and I'm in the process of fixing it. Since that involves multiple categories, this will take a few minutes. Doczilla STOMP! 02:49, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
Okay. Can't believe I did that, but I believe I've got it taken care of. Thanks for bringing it to my attention so I could have the immediate opportunity to clean up after myself. Doczilla STOMP! 03:02, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
No worries. It's all sorted now. Thanks! - Dravecky (talk) 03:15, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

tlx template

There's no point in using {{tlx}} for templates which do not take arguments. 121a0012 (talk) 07:15, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

I was using it for the display properties and consistency with other templates on that page. To quote from the tlx documentation, "If given no additional parameters except 'template name', it presents the same as the similar Tl macro template -- a blue link nested in curly-braces-- the same as a user would apply the template without parameters, but with a noticably clearer font and spacing on most modern browsers." - Dravecky (talk) 07:22, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

Please help with Wayne Perkins

I am NOT Wayne Perkins. I am a person who is helping him get all of his stuff accurate, etc.... Before I knew about the Wiki user name issue, I had created the username of WaynePerkins & can not figure out how to change it...... I have MS & Wiki instructions are extremely confusing to me. It seem as if you have to understand computer code to correct or change anything. I have tried & not been successful (see attempted changes & talk under previous user name). I have updated/corrected text. I have sources for info. I have web-link/web-site info that could be useful. I have 2 pictures that should be posted (one of Wayne then & one of Wayne now) Can you please help to make Wiki as accessible to me (a person with disabilities that include typical MS cognative issues) as it would be to someone who can understand the instructions of how to edit, upload, etc..... Thanks, Ang PumpkinTheCat (talk) 00:52, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

I'm happy to help out but I don't know how to make the Wikipedia process any easier other than stepping in to help directly. If you'll post the info here on my talk page I would be happy to add it to the article in the accepted Wikipedia style. As for the photos, the upload wizard will walk you through the process, step by step. Are these photos you took personally? Or are they photos of which you own the copyright? Mr. Perkins is a living person so Wikipedia permits only "free" images to be used, not fair use ones, for biographies of living persons. I'll copy this to your talk page as well but please reply on my talk page so we can keep this conversation in one place. - Dravecky (talk) 01:44, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

I have read the upload image process 4 times. At least I have read the page, I have not seen anything with a Wizard. These are photos of Wayne that he has provided to me. He lives @ 10 miles from me, so I can take a new recent picture, if need be. I am not able to "go back in time" and re-create any pictures from the '70s.... is it not good enough that this is a picture that Wayne has in his possesion? I appreciate your copying to my talk page, otherwise, I would have never found your answer. Did you see that I attempted to put his Discography in place? Apparently, I don't know how to do it correctly, see how it came out? Any help is much appreciated. Ang PumpkinTheCat (talk) 16:45, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

WSYA

Dravecky, Did you undo my changes to the WSYA radio station page? This station is not on the air yet. I have learned from radio people in the area that it may have a delayed launch, or may never come on the air. Would you please make necessary changes to show that this station is currently NOT on the air? Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Arob22 (talkcontribs) 15:46, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

Ah, I'll amend it to reflect this. The call letters were changed from WANA to WSYA in the FCC database on May 23rd so they're no longer pending but in place, legally. - Dravecky (talk) 01:17, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

Radio stations

I apologize if you think I jumped the gun, but given that the nomination was first put up eight days ago, technically it's already a finished discussion that's only awaiting somebody to formally close it. Bearcat (talk) 16:24, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

santra teresa

i'm sorry, i didn't know you wanted a heads up.SuperSuperBoi (talk) 02:53, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

I know you're new on Wikipedia but step 4 of listing an article for deletion is "Please consider notifying the author(s) by placing {{subst:adw|Santa Teresa (fictional city)}} ~~~~ on their talk page(s)." as detailed in several places, including on the actual AfD notice you placed on the article. It's strongly encouraged and the right thing to do. (I've also copied this reply to your talk page.) - Dravecky (talk) 03:08, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
step for says please consider. it is optional. it not the right thing to do for me. and i wont do it. please chill out.SuperSuperBoi (talk) 03:43, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
Thank you. Wikipedia policy says to "assume good faith" but you state that you are acting this way deliberately so "good faith" no longer enters into it. - Dravecky (talk) 04:15, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

I need help preparing for a collaboration/competition

I saw you listed at WP:HAU and was wondering if you'd be interested in helping out on a graphic arts project (no experience necessary, as we have some time)... I'm preparing to coordinate a large collaboration/competition and for it I'm developing some awards. Each award will include an image, and that's where I need help... I've got to have all the awards done by July 15th, and I don't even have the first one finished yet.

I'm looking for someone who knows how (or is interested in jumping in and learning how) to work on images in xcf format using GIMP, or Inkscape, etc. (Because I and others will need to be able to edit each image's layers after you are done with it). If this sounds like something you are interested in helping with, please drop me a note. By the way, both GIMP and Inkscape are free, making it easy to get started from scratch. I look forward to your reply. The Transhumanist 12:54, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

WP:HAU

Hello yet again. I regretfully inform you that the bot we were using to update the user status at Wikipedia:Highly Active Users, SoxBot V, was blocked for its constant updating. With this bot out of operation, a patch is in the works. Until that patch is reviewed and accepted by the developers, some options have been presented to use as workarounds: 1) Qui monobook (not available in Internet Explorer); 2) User:Hersfold/StatusTemplate; 3) Manually updating User:StatusBot/Status/USERNAME; or 4) Not worry about it and wait for the patch to go through, which hopefully won't take long. If you have another method, you can use that, too. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Useight (talk) 17:45, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

Oh my. Just like NewAtThis before, he aroused my suspicions by tagging as an IP and nominating with a username plus his improper deletion nominations. The whole California thing should have clued me in that he might be Boomgaylove but I knew that SuperSuperBoi couldn't be a genuinely new user. I'm glad to see he's been shut down, again. Thanks! - Dravecky (talk) 13:06, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

KPBQ-FM

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of KPBQ-FM, and it appears to be very similar to another wikipedia page: KZYP. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 03:36, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

It is similar as it is a co-owned radio station with a similar ownership history. I'll make a few updates to fix any future issues. - Dravecky (talk) 03:41, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

Larger contemporary newspapers should have had significant coverage, including team rosters, for all of the US Olympic teams. You may have to hit the microfilm at the library but sources must be out there. - Dravecky (talk) 06:54, 14 June 2008 (UTC)

Just a heads up

I thought you might like to know that the Awards Center page has been deleted, along with its newsletter.  :(

So, where do we go from here? To new and even more interesting projects, of course! As announced in the newsletter, I've been preparing to co-coordinate a large collaboration/competition called Around the World. It was going to be run at the Awards Center, but since that no longer exists, the collaboration will be hosted somewhere else.

Around the World will begin July 15th as planned - it's location will be announced soon. It'll be a blast. In the competition, participants will be helping to develop over 200 pages (drafts, which will be moved to article space once they are ready), using advanced tools to edit every single one of them! This is going to be interesting. And the event shall have awards which are being created specifically for it as we speak!

If you would like me to keep you informed of this and other interesting collaborations I'll be working on and/or organizing in the future, please drop me a note on my talk page, and I'll be happy to keep you in the know. I look forward to your reply.

Sincerely, The Transhumanist 21:41, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
