Article of the month - 1995 Pacific Grand Prix, new Featured Article
.png) The 1995 Pacific Grand Prix (formally the II Pacific Grand Prix) was a Formula One motor race held on October 22, 1995 at the TI Circuit, Aida, Japan. It was the 15th race of the 1995 Formula One season. The race, contested over 83 laps, was won by Michael Schumacher for the Benetton team after starting from third position. David Coulthard, who started the Grand Prix from pole position, finished second in a Williams car, with Damon Hill third in the other Williams. Schumacher's win confirmed him as 1995 Drivers' Champion as Hill could not pass Schumacher's points total with only two races remaining. Hill started the race alongside Coulthard on the front row, amidst pressure from the British media for not being "forceful" enough in battles. Schumacher attempted to drive around the outside of Hill at the first corner, but Hill held Schumacher off as Jean Alesi, driving for Ferrari got past both on the inside line to take second position. As a result, Hill dropped down to third and Schumacher dropped down to fifth behind Gerhard Berger. Schumacher managed to get past Alesi and Hill during the first of three pit stops. This allowed him, on a new set of slick tyres, to close on Coulthard who was on a two-stop strategy. Schumacher opened up a gap of 21 seconds by lapping two seconds faster per lap than Coulthard, so that when his third stop came, he still led the race. I'm guessing this was a Manual of Style change? I only ask because virtually all the literature I have that mentions him (event programmes and so on) uses the unpunctuated form of his name, as does the top12runoff website. I have no problems at all with the change, and certainly have no intention of changing it back, but I did find "should be written like that" a little strong given what I've just said. - If one were being mischievous, one might say that "how a name is written" is defined in the end by how its owner wants it to be written (see The Artist Formerly Known as Prince)! Hillclimb infoboxes
Thanks for adding those; they definitely add to the articles. Is it possible, though, to customise them a little bit? "Lap record" is clearly incorrect for a non-circuit course, while it also seems anomalous to have the course length in km and miles but not in the "British hillclimbing standard" of yards. I could always go and ask about this at WP:MOTOR, of course, but thought it best to ask you first. Loganberry (Talk) 23:32, 17 October 2008 (UTC)
- Okay; fine. I must admit that infobox coding is very far from being a specialised subject of mine! I certainly think that they're better with than without, but at some point I'll ask on the project and see whether the standard box can be modified suitably or whether we'll need to make our own for hillclimb courses. Article of the month - 2008 Belgian Grand Prix, current Good Article Candidate
The 2008 Belgian Grand Prix (formally the LXIV ING Belgian Grand Prix) was a Formula One motor race held on September 7, 2008, at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, Spa, Belgium. It was the 13th race of the 2008 Formula One season. The race, contested over 44 laps, was won by Felipe Massa for the Ferrari team, after the initial winner, McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton, was penalised for cutting a chicane and gaining an advantage over Ferrari's Kimi Räikkönen. Hamilton started from pole position alongside title rival Massa. Hamilton's McLaren team-mate Heikki Kovalainen started from third next to the 2007 winner Kimi Räikkönen. Following a spin by Hamilton on the second lap, Räikkönen led the race, until rain fell on lap 41 and Hamilton performed the penalised pass. Räikkönen crashed in the following lap as rain started raining heavily. Massa finished second on the road after Hamilton, followed by Nick Heidfeld of BMW Sauber. Hamilton received a drive-through penalty, which demoted him to third place and advanced Massa and Heidfeld to first and second positions. McLaren appealed the decision at the FIA International Court of Appeal. Their case, however, was judged inadmissible, with the Court ruling that drive-through penalties cannot be challenged. The penalty created a large amount of criticism from the global press, mainly from the United Kingdom and Italy, with several former drivers questioning the decision. Massa's retrospective win, with Hamilton demoted to third, narrowed the gap in the Championship from six points to just two. New Darts player form template & 2008 in darts help if poss?
Hi, I've just created a template called template: Darts player form which allows you to input the players results for the past 4 years. I've only added it to Phil Taylor's article for now. Take a look and see what you think. I won't really have time to edit all the top players and source the info, but I've posted this message on many users pages so it may be used.
In addition, I've not really had the time to update 2008 in darts which has been bereft of updates since around September. The Pro Tour results are also lacking updates. It may not be a page that continues with 2009 in darts if its not significant enough. Again, if you or any other user wants to take control of adding results then I'd really appreciate it. Anastasia's one-use walk-on
Hello,
I wish to contact you about your edit on Anastasia Dobromyslova regarding her use of Girls by Sugababes during the Grand Slam of Darts. Yes she did indeed use it, but on her third game she used a different walk-on, the same one she used during her first game which to be honest I don't what it is. For that reason as she only used it once, I feel that mentioning her use of Girls as a walk-on may be rendered "irrelevant". But I wanted to contact you about the issue first before I, or someone else for that matter, deleted it. Let me know on you thoughts or ideas regarding this topic. Cheers. Positions in F1 driver results tables
With regard to adding positions for drivers who did not score any points in F1 seasons up to about 2000-2001 - prior to that point, if a driver didn't score any points, he wasn't classified in the WDC, so these positions are erroneous. Generally they've been removed where added, but since you've added a lot of them, I thought I'd mention it. Bretonbanquet (talk) 17:40, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
- No problem - it's true that there's some of this kind of thing in the infoboxes and also in the season articles, but it's a matter of going through it all and sorting it out, which is a big job... We also need to pinpoint exactly when drivers who didn't score points became eligible for classification in the WDC, but so far we've had no luck. Some say 2000, some say 2001!  Damon Graham Devereux Hill OBE (born 17 September 1960) is a retired British racing driver from England. In 1996 Hill won the Formula One World Championship; as the son of the late Graham Hill, he is the only son of a world champion to win the title. His father died in a plane crash when Hill was 15, leaving the family in reduced circumstances and Hill came to professional motorsports at the relatively late age of 23 by racing motorcycles. After some minor success, he moved on to single-seater racing cars, and progressed steadily up the ranks to the International Formula 3000 championship by 1989, where although often competitive he never won a race. Hill became a test driver for the Formula One title-winning Williams team in 1992. He was unexpectedly promoted to the Williams race team the following year after 1992 champion Nigel Mansell's departure and took the first of his 22 victories at the 1993 Hungarian Grand Prix. During the mid 1990s, Hill was Michael Schumacher's main rival for the Formula One Driver's Championship. The two clashed on and off the track; their collision at the 1994 Australian Grand Prix gave Schumacher his first title by a single point. Hill won the 1996 World Drivers' Championship, but was dropped by Williams for the following season. He went on to drive for the less competitive Arrows and Jordan teams, and in 1998 gave Jordan its first win. Hill retired from racing after the 1999 season. He has since launched several businesses as well as making appearances playing the guitar with celebrity bands. In 2006, he became president of the British Racing Drivers' Club, succeeding Jackie Stewart.  Formula One, abbreviated to F1, is the highest class of open-wheeled auto racing defined by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), motorsport's world governing body. The "formula" in the name refers to a set of rules to which all participants and cars must conform. The F1 world championship season consists of a series of races, known as Grands Prix, held usually on purpose-built circuits, and in a few cases on closed city streets. The most famous Grand Prix is the Monaco Grand Prix in Monte Carlo. The results of each race are combined to determine two annual Championships, one for drivers and one for constructors. Michael Schumacher holds the record for the most Grand Prix victories, having won 91 times. Alain Prost, is second with 51 wins, and Ayrton Senna is third, with 41 wins. Michael Schumacher holds the distinction of having the longest time between his first win and his last. He won his first Grand Prix in 1992 at the Belgian Grand Prix, and his last in 2006 at the Chinese Grand Prix, a gap that spans 14 years, 1 month and 1 day. van der Garde & Nunes: not yet confirmed
I too saw the Autosport article mentioning iSport's hopes of confirming Diego Nunes and Giedo van der Garde as their 2009 GP2 drivers. I don't want to sound critical or nit-picky, but they probably shouldn't be listed as iSport's drivers until the team's announcment makes it official. In the article 2009 GP2 Series season are six new drivers. The references are all in português. I don't speak this languages, so I'm not able to judge, wheater the informations are right or wrong. Article of the month - 2008 Chinese Grand Prix, new Good Article
 The 2008 Chinese Grand Prix (formally the V Sinopec Chinese Grand Prix) was a Formula One motor race held on October 19, 2008 at the Shanghai International Circuit, Shanghai, China. It was the 17th and penultimate race of the 2008 Formula One season. The race, contested over 56 laps, was won by Lewis Hamilton for the McLaren team after starting from pole position. Ferrari driver Felipe Massa finished second, and Kimi Räikkönen was third in the other Ferrari. Hamilton, the eventual Drivers' Champion, led the Championship going into the race, and started from pole position alongside Räikkönen. Second in the Drivers' Championship, Massa began from third, next to Fernando Alonso of Renault. The first three drivers retained their positions into the first corner, but Alonso was passed by Hamilton's McLaren teammate Heikki Kovalainen. However, Alonso was able to regain the place midway through the first lap. Over the course of the race, Hamilton extended a considerable lead over the two Ferraris. Massa passed Räikkönen with seven laps remaining, to improve his chances of surpassing Hamilton's points tally at the final race in Brazil. The result extended Ferrari's lead over McLaren in the Constructors' Championship from seven to 11 points. Third-placed in the Drivers' Championship, Robert Kubica's sixth place at the Grand Prix eliminated his hopes of winning the Championship, and reduced his lead over fourth-placed Räikkönen to six points. 2009 WTCC Driver Table
While I think that the rounds column on the drivers table you added is a good idea, I think those entries that plan to do the whole season should just have 'all' in the rounds column. If any of these fail to compete at any round, this could be changed. I will go ahead and make these changes after the second race in Curitiba after which I know you will fill in the results and championship standings tables. Team and Driver Tables before 2009
You have probably noticed that I changed the layout of the team and driver tables in the DTM, BTCC and WTCC this season(I did this under an ip address before I set up my account), to bring them into line with F1, WRC, GP2, V8s and Indycar etc. Would it be a good idea to go back and change previous years of these champs to bring them into line with the new layout? I see that you also reverted my contribution to the 2009 GP2 Series season page in which i mentioned that this is the fourth season for Lucas di Grassi, Luca Filippi, Vitaly Petrov, Javier Villa, and Andreas Zuber. You called it irrelevant, which is only opinion. This IS significant because few, if any, drivers get to Formula One after spending this much time in GP2. Last year's champion Giorgio Pantano had been completely overlooked by the F1 paddock after he spent several years in F3000/GP2. It IS a critical year for all five drivers to become champion.

BTCC Driver Template
I keep noticing on articles of former BTCC drivers who still have the template that it says 2009 BTCC Driver. I feel this is a bit misleading on articles such as Jason Plato, James Thompson (racing driver) or James Kaye. Could we not modify it so that it just says 'BTCC Driver'.
However, I have just noticed that drivers like Yvan Muller have different templates, that say 'btcc record'. Shall we just go through and check that all the drivers absent from the 09 entry list, like Plato, Thommo, T-O-C and Steven Kane have this template, which could be changed when/if they return.
