Hello Corkythehornetfan (talk), I have a request for you: since it's now known that the San Diego Chargers are going to relocate to Los Angeles, could you somehow edit the Chargers' wordmark logo & also rename the file to reflect the team's move to Los Angeles? Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 19:49, 12 January 2017 (UTC)

@Charlesaaronthompson: I don't have a computer right now as it has crashed. I should have it fixed/or have a new computer by next weekend at the latest. Once I have a computer, I will update the logo. When I update it, I will upload a completely new file. The SD file cannot be over written due to the changes in the wording, therefore the renaming request is denied.Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 22:23, 12 January 2017 (UTC)
I may also wait until they release a new logo, especially at NFLCommunications.com. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 22:27, 12 January 2017 (UTC)
Do you know when the league and the Chargers will release the new logo slick at NFLCommunications.com? My guess is that it won't be released until after Super Bowl LI concludes, but I don't know for sure. Also, thanks for responding to my message. I guess I'll have to wait. Everything related to the Chargers' branding is happening so quickly. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 22:31, 12 January 2017 (UTC)
No idea, but it looks as if the Chargers have a new marketing logo, but it hasn't been approved by the NFL yet. I agree, it's moving a little too quickly if you ask me. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 22:39, 12 January 2017 (UTC)

Lighter shade in series results for forfeits

See the 1975 and 1976 games in the table on LSU–Mississippi State football rivalry. Those were won but later forfeited by Miss State. We currently leave forfeits unshaded, but we also have ties unshaded, which may give the impression that ties and forfeits are counted the same way in the overall series record. When in reality it's as if the game was never played. ANYWHO, what do you think about forfeits being a lighter shade of whichever team won the game? Lizard (talk) 02:43, 14 January 2017 (UTC)

@Lizard the Wizard: I like the idea of having a lighter shade of the team's color... IF we can some way have it automatically aligned with the module with a certain shade (ex. 20% or 30%) so that we don't have contrast issues. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 03:44, 14 January 2017 (UTC)
Eh. How many forfeits have ever happened in rivalries in college football history? Maybe we can just do it manually. Lizard (talk) 03:52, 14 January 2017 (UTC)
The only problem with that is we have had I.P.s who tend to screw around with the colors that don't agree with the contrast guidelines. I'd rather be on the safe side and have the experienced users like you and I than have an I.P. (or inexperienced/new user) screw things up. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 04:32, 14 January 2017 (UTC)
Can it be done? Is there a way to apply, say, 30% shading for every team's colors? Lizard (talk) 19:50, 14 January 2017 (UTC)
That's a question for Frietjes or another tech user. I'm not sure, but I think it could be done. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 21:45, 14 January 2017 (UTC)
the relative luminance formula is nonlinear, so you would need a formula for '30%' lighter, or a procedure for solving for it. an easier thing to do would be to just use a different default color for ties. Frietjes (talk) 14:02, 15 January 2017 (UTC)
User:Lizard the Wizard, try the following in the article (use preview, don't save)
{{sports rivalry series table/sandbox
| format = compact | cols = 2
| series_summary = yes
| team1 = LSU
| team1style =
| team2 = Mississippi State / Mississippi A&M
| team2style =
| legend_tie_text = Ties
| legend_forfeit_text = Forfeits

if this looks like a good idea, I can update the main module. Frietjes (talk) 14:27, 15 January 2017 (UTC)

Sorry I've been putting this off, I'll get to it tonight (probably). Lizard (talk) 00:05, 17 January 2017 (UTC)

@Lizard the Wizard: What's your opinion on this? I just thought I'd remind you because come February 1, this page will be archived... Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 02:22, 22 January 2017 (UTC)
So ties grey and forfeits white? Better than them both being the same color, I suppose. And it'd be a lot easier to implement than the lighter shade suggestion. Lizard (talk) 15:33, 26 January 2017 (UTC)
I agree. No guidelines are bring violated this way, too!
Pinging Frietjes so she can comment further or implement it. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 20:10, 26 January 2017 (UTC)
User:Lizard the Wizard, now done. there may be some minor quirks with the match between the coloring and the legend in other articles, so let me know if you see any problems. I should be able to fix any bugs. Frietjes (talk) 13:26, 27 January 2017 (UTC)
if you want to check the special cases, look at the articles in Category:Pages using sports rivalry series table with a win parameter. Frietjes (talk) 14:35, 27 January 2017 (UTC)

Hi,

What software do you use to reduce the size of the SVG as you did with File:Pittsburgh Steelers logo.svg? I use Illustrator, but can't seem to find where to reduce it. Any ideas? – Sabbatino (talk) 13:53, 23 January 2017 (UTC)

@Sabbatino: I use Inkscape. In Inkscape, there is a button that says "transform", and I set the size through that. I don't know anything on Illustrator (I barely know enough on Inkscape!). There is always Google which I'm sure would have something on how to reduce the file size. That's how I learn on Inkscape! If you can't find anything or are still having trouble, I'd ask Connormah as I know he uses Illustrator (or did at one point). Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 16:31, 23 January 2017 (UTC)
No need for that. I'll ask him myself. The main problem is that most of the tutorials are out of date and their contents don't apply to some newer versions of specific software. I'll keep in mind that you are using Inkscape to avoid any future questions regarding Illustrator. – Sabbatino (talk) 16:47, 23 January 2017 (UTC)
@Sabbatino: I agree. Sometimes I just mess around with the program until I find what I'm looking for! You might try this website under the Tips for creating Illustrator images for mobile devices. I know it says mobile devices, but don't worry about that. See if that helps reduce the image size. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 18:10, 23 January 2017 (UTC)

Happy template editing! — xaosflux Talk 04:52, 26 January 2017 (UTC)

Thank you, Xaosflux! Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 05:03, 26 January 2017 (UTC)

I just saw that you reverted my uploaded version with reason "NFLCommunications.com (has NO's brand guide) says this is the correct version. No proof that they use a lighter shade." How do I access that NFL Communications website? I know that I must register before using it, but I heard that people who aren't media-related can't access it as NFL just ignores those requests. Is it true? As for that lighter version, I extracted it from team's 2016 media guide. – Sabbatino (talk) 13:07, 26 January 2017 (UTC)

I found it very easy to access their website. All I did was put in some of my info along with Wikipedia's info, said what it was going to be used for, and then they granted me access within a few days after I registered. Give 'er try. If you're able to access it, they will have a section titles "publications & logos". From there you will find the team and select download. They have a logo slick that lists the team colors and hexadecimals for three teams. They probably haven't updated it (if it's changed), but that won't happen until sometime after the super bowl. If they don't update the logos on NFLCommunications.com by next season and NO keeps using the same color in the media guide, I'm willing to support your version. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 13:19, 26 January 2017 (UTC)
Thanks! I'll try. – Sabbatino (talk) 16:18, 26 January 2017 (UTC)

Old news

This is for Auburn, not for Auburn Montgomery. Drmies (talk) 22:51, 26 January 2017 (UTC)

I'll keep that in mind. Thanks. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 01:32, 27 January 2017 (UTC)

Hi Corkythehornetfan,

I noticed your edit summary. I believe my reversion did fix the problem and thus it was not necessary to notify you. However, you seem to believe that your version is an improvement, perhaps relating to "coding." I'm no SVG expert, so if you wouldn't mind explaining that further, I would appreciate it.

Thanks,

Two Hearted River (paddle / fish) 23:17, 6 February 2017 (UTC)

I'm not either, but I'm talking about the file size (59 KB). I was told when I was learning about SVGs that we need to optimize the files so that the file size (KB or MB) can be as small as possible by removing unneeded coding. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 00:15, 8 February 2017 (UTC)
Thanks for the link. I'll implement those suggestions in Inkscape going forward. I would advise caution, though, in using filesize to determine whether the "best" version of an image has been uploaded. Sometimes inaccuracies can be introduced, as we've seen in this particular file. Two Hearted River (paddle / fish) 17:05, 8 February 2017 (UTC)
Most of the time I catch it when I make the edit and fix it. This time I didn't. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 18:20, 8 February 2017 (UTC)

Marshall Thundering Herd color

Hello, I have noticed you have changed the color of Marshall University to kelly green, which is correct, and used a darker green for the athletics, which is incorrect. The source you clearly posted says Marshall uses kelly green #006140 http://www.marshall.edu/ucomm/files/MU_Brand_Guideline-Manual_Nov-2016.pdf while the color of the logo you posted does not exist as a primary color on the source you clearly posted. I am sure this was an honest mistake, but please update the athletics logo to match the correct color green on the source. Thank you, it is much appreciated. Eknight2012 (talk) 12:47, 14 February 2017 (UTC)

@Eknight2012: Thanks for the comments. I extracted it from one of the game notes on the website, as well as double checked on another PDF from the Athletics website, and they both used the darker color as provided in the Brand Guidelines. If you were to use the hex code provided by the university itself,  #006140  is a darker green. If you use the RGB codes provided by the university, it's a  R:0, G:177, B:64  lighter color. If anything, it will be a University issue, not mine. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 14:01, 14 February 2017 (UTC)
Thanks for the response and I agree that it is a University issue. As someone who went to school there and grew up in Huntington, I can tell you without a doubt that Marshall does not know what color they want to be and the fans don't either. You will literally see 20 different shades of green at a football or basketball game. An example of this inconsistency is the logo at the top of http://www.herdzone.com, which is the official athletics site, the color is different than both colors, it is  R:18, G:139, B:29 . So because there is debate of what color Marshall is, I think it is only fair to use the color they want us to use (for now) which is  R:0, G:177, B:64 . Thoughts? Eknight2012 (talk) 17:48, 14 February 2017 (UTC)
@Eknight2012: I'm 50-50 on this. A majority of the PDFs on the athletics website use the darker green. If they were not consistent and used a mixture of both the light and dark green, I'd be up to the idea of changing the color to a the lighter color, but they tend to use the darker color as a whole.  R:0, G:177, B:64  is way too light, and when I extract them from the PDFs/website logo, I get a color closest to this color... it's off by one or two number/letters. This isn't a rare issue we have here. There are a good chunk of NCAA Division I schools who use different colors for the academics and athletics. They may be two or three Pantone colors apart, but they are different. I think this is the case with Marshall. If you want confirmation that athletics uses the R:0, G:177, B:64 (#00B140), you can contact their sports information department and see if they reply back. I've learned that most schools will reply back, but some do not. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 19:50, 14 February 2017 (UTC)
I found a press release saying effective January 1, 2012, Marshall athletics will be using Pantone 356 switching from Pantone 357 http://www.marshall.edu/pressrelease.asp?ID=2581. How old were the PDFs you looked at? If they were older than 2012 that explains why you found the darker green. I haven't found any information that says they changed it again, so I believe we should change the color athletics logo and page to Pantone 356. I'm ready to put this issue to bed. Eknight2012 (talk) 22:41, 14 February 2017 (UTC)
@Eknight2012: The PDFs I was looking at were game notes for the current (2016–17) season game notes... although basketball seems to be a bit different and uses the #00B140 hexadecimal, not the darker color like some other sports... I'm not sure I really like the PMS 356 because the university doesn't provide the hexadecimal for that (I know I'm being difficult here, but hopefully you can see why). After looking over all of it (and agreeing that this needs to be put to rest), I'll go for the  R:0, G:177, B:64  on the logo and infoboxes, if you are O.K. with that? Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 04:16, 15 February 2017 (UTC)
Yes. Thank you so much. By the way, I emailed someone in the athletic department and he has confirmed Marshall's green is Pantone 354 which is  R:0, G:177, B:64 . I can forward it to you if you'd like to see for yourself. I'm sorry about making a fuss about it, but I just wanted my university to be represented appropriately. Eknight2012 (talk) 16:21, 15 February 2017 (UTC)
@Eknight2012: I completely uderstand! I don't need to see the email. I trust you. Thanks for your help! Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 18:43, 15 February 2017 (UTC)

Greetings

We seem to cross paths within my page edits. But I am a bit behind on the times on one case, as I've seem to have made a page for UT Martin's women's basketball page. However, I did not realize Tennessee–Martin Skyhawks women's basketball should have been branded with UT Martin. I can't move the page due to the redirect, and I'm not knowledgeable on how to request a move, and I was wondering if you could help me with that.

With the pages I've tried to create, I'm also hoping that I am doing a servicable job (and trying to abide by what you've said to me on my page) at getting through with doing pages. Wikidude10000 (talk) 20:35, 18 February 2017 (UTC)

@Wikidude10000:  Done here. If you'd like to request a move, please use on the article's talk page. The template is pretty self-explanatory. You're doing fine, and it's much appreciated. I've got a majority of the university articles on my watchlist so I see when you make a navbox and include it in the article. I've noticed you have started implementing the CollegePrimaryHeader into the articles after I left the last message... now you just need to be careful and not include the primary logo unless it is in the Public Domain. Other than that, keep up the good work! Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 02:03, 19 February 2017 (UTC)

Grouping coaching tenure navboxes

Corky, can you point me to the discussion about grouping the coaching tenure navboxes, because I can't locate it. Jweiss11 (talk) 06:05, 23 February 2017 (UTC)

@Jweiss11: see here. Consensus said to group them all together, which I've done now. This was for all American sports. I'm not sure what your deal is, but I'm about to give up on all football-related articles because every time I make an edit to one (at least here lately), you revert it for some absurd reason. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 13:01, 23 February 2017 (UTC)
This discussion took place on WikiProject College Basketball. That's probably why I couldn't find it when I look in the WikiProject College football archives. For a far-reaching style change like this that inherently overlaps many WikiProjects, we need to established a larger, clearer consensus that explicitly involves those other projects, as I suggested in the discussion on WikiProject College Basketball. That's what what we need to do. There's also a difference between "absurd" and opinions about style/format that you don't like. Jweiss11 (talk) 16:04, 23 February 2017 (UTC)

Making logo transparent

Hi, I saw you uploaded the Texas Longhorns logo for their athletics page. How do you make the background of the logo transparent? I am trying to do the same for the logo on the Edinboro Fighting Scots page but do not know how. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wbballplayer13 (talkcontribs)

@Wbballplayer13: You can use a program like http://fotoflexer.com or another online website program. There will be a 'transparent' button that you click and then click the white background. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 22:59, 26 February 2017 (UTC)

Ohio University Edits

I removed information on The Ohio University page that was written like an advertisement, or removed facts that were not relevant to information about The Ohio University. I saw that you undid my edits and I was wondering why, as they did not change cited facts or add anything, but just removed unnecessary information that did not contribute to the page to resolve the issues at the top of the article. It looks bad on the university for their Wikipedia page to have multiple issues, so I did my best to resolve them. If you do understand my revisions, please edit the article yourself to improve it to remove the issues. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Alexandermemelton (talkcontribs) 02:35, 27 February 2017 (UTC)

File edit request

Hey there! I noticed you created an SVG version of the Reublican National Convention logo, and I wanted to thank you heaps for making one! I do have a simple request though. Is it possible you can give a bit of breathing space on the right side of the image, like I originally had for the PNG version? The logo looks really awkward in the article's infobox otherwise, where the center of content in the image is listed off to the right side of the box. Thanks in advance! :) Philip Terry Graham 01:19, 6 March 2017 (UTC)

@PhilipTerryGraham: I don't think it is too awkward, but I've added some space on the right per your request. Thanks, Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 01:34, 6 March 2017 (UTC)
The space needs to be equal to the space created on the left side of the logo by the guitar. Otherwise, the center of content is still not properly centered. Try adding 3x more space. Philip Terry Graham 01:46, 6 March 2017 (UTC)
I've added a little bit more, but honestly, it's fine. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 02:22, 6 March 2017 (UTC)

Division II?

Just wanted to know, but do Division I NCAA basketball teams that had played in Division II (and had made that tournament) need to have their Division II results listed along with the Division I appearances (in the infobox) in the NCAA Tournament or not? In other words, is their a criteria for including/not including Division II results of NCAA basketball teams along with Division I results? Wikidude10000 (talk) 02:34, 8 March 2017 (UTC)

@Wikidude10000: I'd go ahead and put them in the infobox. Just make sure you clarify which division it was... say do something like in the conference section of the infobox for the Kansas Jayhawks men's basketball. Not sure if there's a criteria, but I think we do include them when we can. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 03:20, 8 March 2017 (UTC)

Something like Northern Kentucky Norse men's basketball, for example. They clinched their first ever NCAA Division I Tournament bid tonight, but they had made the NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Tournament 13 times prior to joining Division I. So I should make a distinction much like the one used for Kansas' page for their D-II Tournament appearances? Wikidude10000 (talk) 03:23, 8 March 2017 (UTC)

Yes, Kansas' is a good example. It looks like SportsMaster has already done it, but for future reference that would be a good way to include it. The one thing you don't want to do is remove them like this user did! Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 19:18, 8 March 2017 (UTC)

Hey, "'Fan". I have a couple of questions for you...

You know, of course, when a user/editor here on Wikipedia does not register a username for themselves they receive some sort of ID number? What is the formal name that Wikipedia uses for these numbers? Thanks. Also there appears to be two types of these ID numbers...one has colons and also letters, it is the longer one. The other has only numbers and includes decimal points. Also the editor named Dale Arnett has been doing outstanding work for many years. All his edits are meaningful and productive. He edits a lot of college sports articles, though he is not a member of any related projects. I think he deserves an award for all his hard work over the years. Also how have the Hornets been doing this academic year? Did you see what the JMU Dukes did in the fall? Thanks 'Fan, and I hope you are doing well. Freddiem (talk) 07:35, 9 March 2017 (UTC)

@Freddiem: Good to hear from ya! Are you talking about I.P.s? This page will have more information... I don't too much on how that works! As for Dale, yes, he deserves an award... I haven't worked with him (or at least I can't remember), but you should definitely give him an award! He is however, a member of WP:WikiProject College football As for the Hornets, the football team had a pretty successful year... making school history (hopefully we will be Northwest Missouri now that their coach left). The Lady Hornets are doing same as they always do... win! lol I saw your Dukes won the FCS Championship... congrats! Hopefully they can keep it up! Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 20:24, 9 March 2017 (UTC)
@Freddiem: 'Fan thanks for your kind reply...As soon as I finished reading it I was going to get back to you. But that never happened, because since that moment I have been besieged by people on social media with very little rest. So at this point, I am going to try to decompress tonight, by watching some high school and college sports. The one person on social media that really has me, a few weeks ago they present me with a problem, and ask if I might be able to help. So a couple of days later, I told the person I had an idea that might possibly solve the problem, so a couple of days later, I gave them my idea that might solve the problem, and told them think it over and get back to me whenever. So today was two weeks since I last contacted them with my possible solution, I hadn't bothered them since. So when I asked them about what they thought about my idea to solve the problem and today I even re-explained the problem and my idea to solve it, I spent a lot of time writing it all out. So when they replied, I realized that they had not read but a couple of words of my reply. They said that they did not know about the problem or my idea, in any way. And they said they did not need my help, in the past, now, or anytime in the future. And finished by saying they have never and would never ask for my help in anyway. They said to never to offer my help now or in the future, it neither needed nor wanted. Go figure. I think what I will do is to not contact this person at all for a month or so. I think I will be charitable for Lent and give them at least until Easter for them to respond. Maybe I will give them the whole Easter Season, if I feel charitable. So if you have time to reply tonight with some feedback that would be excellent, I would appreciate it. It might take me a day to reply since I still need to decompress. Thanks for being a friend. And as always, God Bless. Freddiem (talk) 00:58, 12 March 2017 (UTC)

Ok I know what you are saying now. And I have a couple more qustions if you don't mind.
1st If it is owned by the US Postal Survice and The US Goverment owns the US Postal Survice it should be on there right?
2nd If the logo can not be in the article it should be taken off the US Postal Survice article as well right?
3rd and 4th If you can please look for other logos on that page that should be taken off that page also
And how can you tell the US Postal Survice logo should not be there?
Thanks!
I'm not sure, that would be my guess. However, you can ask Wikipedia:Media copyright questions and they'll be able to tell you. The logo can/should stay in the US Postal Service article because it is that organization's logo. It's the only article the logo should be in. The WP:NFC#UUI and WP:NFCC (Wikipedia's guidelines) will explain it all as to why it should and should not be there. I'll look for others, but am pretty sure this was the only one. Can you change the US Postal Survice logo? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.36.68.29 (talk) 14:05, 17 March 2017 (UTC)
No, because it is not in the Public Domain? The USPS is not a government entity as it says in the article and it too original. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 16:07, 17 March 2017 (UTC)

Northwest Missouri State Bearcats men's basketball

Thanks for your considerable effort to standardize the Northwest history. I fixed an error. They were Sweet 16 in 2016. I tried to add Elite 8 in 2002 and 2004 but my edits don't show up. There's some other post season I would put in but I can't figure out the table (the data was in the previous version). Thanks again for a much overdo effort to make it look consistent.! 12:02, 27 March 2017 (UTC)

@Americasroof: It was long overdue! Thanks for fixing my error! If you want to include the postseason information, just add |postseason = at the end before the brackets, just like it is for Ben's last two seasons. Then insert what your information. Minnesota Marching Band uniform section

While the parameter may be for an image, it is used as a description consistently across all college marching band pages (see The Ohio State University Marching Band, Michigan Marching Band, Spirit of Troy, or any other page). I believe that it is more important for the page to match the precedent set by all college marching band pages rather than be the only one without a uniform description. That being said, I do appreciate the other clean-ups that you did for the page. Dragne SDI (talk) 18:46, 29 March 2017 (UTC)User:dragne_SDI

@Corkythehornetfan: It's not some pages - all major college marching band pages list a uniform description, it is the standard. If you visit Template:Infobox marching band, the example provides a description, not an image. There are no pages, to my knowledge, that include an image, and the instructions for the template itself say to include a description. Dragne SDI (talk) 23:10, 29 March 2017 (UTC)Dragne SDI

I know they're black and gold, but not totally sure of the codes just quite yet... I'm going along the lines of  #231F20  and  #FFC73B , or close to that, after extracting it from the website... Let's see if they respond. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 22:15, 3 April 2017 (UTC)
Since it's a new league (this is its second season) and players don't normally play in leagues other than the NFL, CFL, and Arena, I'm not surprised this never came up before. I'm not even sure Infobox NFL biography is meant for foreign American football leagues. Lizard (talk) 22:32, 3 April 2017 (UTC)
@Lizard the Wizard: I'm sure it isn't. We can get it to where it is, though. I haven't received an email back and I still haven't been able to find some sort of a brand guide. The colors listed above are pretty close. They are the ones I've extracted from the website itself and the program I used is pretty accurate... testing it and emailing other organizations in the past to verify. Your edits of military academy article infoboxes

Greetings from the East, Brother...at least East Independence, Kansas! Your several recent edits of the military academy article infoboxes I believe are in error. The military rank of the officers deleted by your edits are not honorifics in my estimation. They have been earned and denote the authority that that person has a superintendent of the various academies. WP:HONORIFICS specifically applies to biographies on Wikipedia and no where in the guidance did I see a military rank used as an example of an honorific. I have not changed any of your edits, but you could get some blowback from other military academy page patrollers. Those who have served in the military are justifiably proud of their ranks earned. They were not awarded, they were earned. In a related note; I, as a fellow ESU alumni have followed your edits of many articles and congratulate you on your many fine edits that have helped the Wikipedia reader better understand the material at hand. Cuprum17 (talk) 19:06, 6 April 2017 (UTC)

@Cuprum17: Thank you for your concern! I'm prepared for the battle and I am always open to solutions, or if a consensus can/has be/been reached somewhere, I will gladly re-add them to the infobox... but there are simply way too many titles for the guidelines to list on the page. The main reason I'm against including the titles in the infobox is: though in different ways, the military officers – like you said – "earn" their rank just like those in the academia and other field. It's not just given to them, they have to earn it. Professors have to earn their titles as well, something in which they are proud of too. As far as I was told... at least by Nyttend... WP:HONORIFICS applies to the infoboxes as well, not just biography articles themselves. As far as the last portion of your comment... I appreciate the kind words. I don't see you around much... just once in a blue moon! As always, I appreciate your feedback! Thanks, Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 19:49, 6 April 2017 (UTC)
Well, I have seen you cross paths with Nyttend over infoboxes related to your school posts and I don't agree with him on the issue, but he is one of those editors that always seems to have to have it his way. My advice: keep an open mind. I have kind of semi-retired from Wikipedia but do visit my list of page patrol pages at least once a day, but I don't tilt windmills with other editors like I might have in the past over issues that seem minor in the whole scheme of things about life. I do correct outright vandalism and statements added to an article with no referencing. I have spent the last couple of years doing a restoration of a 1946 Willys CJ-2A Jeep that I acquired shortly before moving to Emporia to finish college. I graduated in December 1972, so that gives you some idea of how long I have owned the critter. I am now in the final stages of completing the restoration and I should have it up and running in a week or so, just in time for my 70th birthday. I used to drive the Jeep to classes from where I lived in a trailer court five miles north of Emporia on K-99 when the weather was reasonably nice. It will be nice to get it back on the road again. Take care, Brother... Cuprum17 (talk) 20:08, 6 April 2017 (UTC)
Sounds like a good birthday present! Happy early birthday! Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 03:40, 7 April 2017 (UTC)
I'd say that that's dependent on the context. How is it being used? Is it important to the context that the officer's rank be mentioned? For example, it would be more appropriate to include a rank with "Commanding officer" than it would be with "Prominent professors". It's basically like "Professor" — saying "This statement is supported by Professor John Smith in his book..." would be an HONORIFIC problem, but it's actively helpful when it contributes to the discussion, e.g. "Assistant Professor Smith was initially going to be awarded the endowed chair of mathematics, but members of administration objected that a non-tenured faculty member shouldn't be given the appointment, and instead it went to Associate Professor Jones." Nyttend (talk) 20:14, 6 April 2017 (UTC)
Nyttend, it's being used in the infobox "CAPT. John Doe", just like "Dr. Jane Doe". I'm not sure if they have it listed in body, but the infobox is the main concern right now. Honestly, I don't think it's important enough. No disrespect to the military members (I have a few family members that have served), but the infobox is not the place for a rank. They've got "Commandant" or "Superintendent", etc. at the right as their title; their rank can be inserted in the article itself, just not the infobox. As I've said before, I'm open to adding them back to the infobox, as long as there is a consensus among a WikiProject (preferably WikiProject Universities or at the article for WP:HONORFICS). If consensus shows in favor, then I won't have a problem. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 03:40, 7 April 2017 (UTC)

Edit summary for Xavier Musketeers football

Hi, I have no issues with the content of your edit to Xavier Musketeers football, but the edit summary could have been better. Louisville Cardinals official colors

Hello Corkythehornetfan, I just thought I'd send you a message about the official colors for the Louisville Cardinals. According to this reference from the University of Louisville, the university's athletic programs are not required to adhere to the brand graphics policy. Therefore, it is my opinion that this reference only represents the University of Louisville, and not its athletic programs. Further, I believe that according to the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Brand Standards, the official Pantone colors for Louisville are Red (PMS 200 C) and Black. I have searched the Internet for official references for Louisville Athletics, but have so far come up empty. However, I found this reference from Louisville Athletics' website, which says to contact the assistant AD/brand marketing director for any questions regarding Louisville's trademarks. Please help? Thank you. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 16:01, 16 April 2017 (UTC)

@Charlesaaronthompson: This website shows PMS 485, which would be somewhere in this neck-of-the-woods. The UofL Alumni Association says that they use the same colors as Athletics (PMS 200 #AD0000). If you want to go by the CMYK colors used on the alumni website, it shows  #F0001F , which in my opinion is closest to the Athletics website... or the RGB codes for the university which show  #E31B23  (what you changed to at the Module). I would contact the Athletics Department and see what they use (I even do this). It's our best shot so we don't argue over it. I'd contact Eakin... I've found that most department heads will forward it to their assistant directors to reply. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 20:33, 16 April 2017 (UTC)
Also, I am simply doing what you did with for Minnesota's colors. The website clearly shows a different color, but I've done the same as I've recommended above – contacting the athletics department. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 20:45, 16 April 2017 (UTC)
@Corkythehornetfan: Could you contact the Louisville Athletic Department and ask about it for me, please? I don't want to argue about it with you either. I'm interested to hear what they will say their colors are. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 21:43, 16 April 2017 (UTC)
I'll be glad to contact them... any particular reason you don't want to? Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 22:12, 16 April 2017 (UTC)
@Corkythehornetfan: No, not really. I just figured we'd have better luck if you did it. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 23:03, 16 April 2017 (UTC)
@Charlesaaronthompson: Well, I had to email both before the assistant director finally email me back. It looks like we're both wrong; they use  #C9001F . Email forwarded to you. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 14:33, 19 April 2017 (UTC)
OK, I saw the e-mail you sent me. Thanks for contacting them. One question: when you edited Module:College color/data, why didn't you use the reference provided for in the e-mail? Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 17:42, 19 April 2017 (UTC)
I don't believe it is for the public; just a "by request only" situation... If we can't find it on the internet and we have to ask for it, there is a good chance it is not public and only given "by request". Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 17:52, 19 April 2017 (UTC)
Would you be opposed to using this reference as the reference at Module:College color/data? I just don't like the reference that's currently there, because it only refers to the University of Louisville's academic colors, and not the athletic colors. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 18:03, 19 April 2017 (UTC)
That doesn't really give the information, other than the color names. I think the Alumni website represents the best as it shows the correct Pantone number and CMYK codes and it says they use the same colors as the Athletics Dept. (even though they need to update their website)... the only difference is the RGB and HEX codes, but at least it still gives some information correct information on the colors. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 18:21, 19 April 2017 (UTC)
OK, fine. I guess use whatever reference you feel is best. I'm sorry if I offended you by adding the reference in the e-mail to Module:College color/data. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 18:49, 19 April 2017 (UTC)
You didn't offend me, it's just that we need to use common sense. If it can't be found doing an online search, then it is most likely private. Just letting you know, I had this edit deleted so the link would remain private. Also, you don't need to ping me on my talk page; I receive the message anyways. The "(ping me)" is mainly for discussion off of my talk page so I remember to respond. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 19:08, 19 April 2017 (UTC)

Logo for FBS College Football Teams by Season

Hi, corkythehornetfan. I am wondering what justifies a team to go by a wordmark or primary logo for their season threads? I noticed that you changed the logo to the wordmark one for the 2017 San Jose State Spartans football team whereas you put the primary logo for the 2017 San Diego State Aztecs football team. Why does the difference matter too? Thank you, I hope you have a good day. — Preceding unsigned comment added by SJSU Moi (talkcontribs)

@SJSU Moi: San Diego State's primary is a Public Domain image which allows it to be used in any article. San José's primary mark is a non-free image allowing it to only be used in the San José State Spartans article. If the primary logo is in the public domain (usually found on Wikimedia Commons), then it's best to use that logo as it better identifies the school. If the primary logo is a non-free image, then it best to use the wordmark in the sub-articles like for San José State. Also, I would strongly recommend you change the licensing and source for the San Diego State wordmark you added. If you're not the original artist on the image, you need to provide the source you received it from and a license like PD-textlogo. Hope this helps! 1974 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament

The 1974 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament article did not include Louisiana Tech's 5-4 win vs. Texas before Texas' two wins vs. Louisiana Tech. How to become a template editor

Hello Corkythehornetfan (talk), I was curious as to how I can become a template editor? Specifically, I want to be able to edit Template:NFLPrimaryColor and Template:NFLTertiaryColorRaw. Could you put in a good word for me? Thanks. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 03:21, 21 April 2017 (UTC)

Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 17:36, 21 April 2017 (UTC)

Let's be consistent and CORRECT.

Hello Corky,

Just saw your edit here (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Northern_Illinois_Huskies_men%27s_soccer&oldid=777006255), and I agree that we should be consistent but we also need to be CORRECT. And plainly, the current entries in Wikipedia are incorrect.

Northern Illinois University (three words, by the way) is properly and correctly, abbreviated as NIU and never as Northern Illinois. Subsequently, the University's athletic teams are known, and correctly referred to, as the NIU Huskies not Northern Illinois Huskies, as currently listed in Wikipedia.

You should really undo your recent changes and the CORRECT changes to make is to change all the team pages to reflect the correct nomenclature of NIU Huskies.

Please work with me on correcting this.

I ask that you make these CORRECTIONS, as I would make these changes myself but I'm unfamiliar on just how to do so. If you want to teach me how to make the changes, I would gladly do the work myself and not bother you with it.

To reiterate, I agree that we need to be consistent but also, and more importantly, we need to be CONSISTENT and CORRECT.

Thank you. Let's discuss. AnneMorgan88 (talk)

@AnneMorgan88: By me saying "consistent", I mean keeping the same name format as the other NIU articles. If you want to change the naming format for all NIU athletic articles, you need to request a move. Right now, Northern Illinois is the WP:COMMONNAME which is why we are using that format. We don't brand the way the school wants to be branded; we brand the way reliable source brand the school. If you want to be a smart-ass ("three words, by the way"), then I will not discuss any further. If you didn't intend for it to be read that way, then you might want to reconsider how you word things. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 19:04, 24 April 2017 (UTC)

I disagree that NIU is not the WP:COMMONNAME. NIU is the commonly used abbreviation. There is no simpler way to state this fact. Wikipedia is wrong. Thank you for the "request move" link, and I will try to use it but it's not making a lot of sense to me at the moment. I'm sure I'll figure it out. AnneMorgan88 (talk)

Then when you request the move, you can provide the third party sources that are reliable to establish the common name. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 19:41, 24 April 2017 (UTC)
@AnneMorgan88: You need to provide sources to prove that "NIU" is the common name. Not just state your 'opinion'. News articles, National news, etc... something to show it is the common name. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 19:59, 24 April 2017 (UTC)

Logos

What are you doing changing the CORRECT logos, that you by the way introduced?

I want to work with you on this but stop screwing up the pages. AnneMorgan88 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 18:58, 24 April 2017 (UTC)

@AnneMorgan88: Yes, I originally introduced the wordmarks. However, I've recently been dealing with logos for NCAA teams, and it is acceptable to use the primary logo if the school lists the sport along with the logo. Those sport-specific logos can only be used in the primary sport-related article, whereas the wordmarks need to be used in the sub-articles (season articles). I'm not "screwing up the pages", so please quit being an ass. I'll be glad to work with you as long as you can tone it down a bit and be nice, not rude. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 19:04, 24 April 2017 (UTC)

Why would team pages not qualify as "sub-articles" and be appropriate for the wordmarks? I guess I just cannot see the distinction being made. The main or "parent" article would be the "NIU Huskies" (and that has/had the combo NIU/Huskie head logo) page with sub-articles being team pages (as sub-articles, these had the appropriate wordmark. I think it was correct as you had it originally with the wordmarks on the team pages). AnneMorgan88 (talk)

They are sub-articles, but as I said above, if the athletic programs have a sports-specific logo meaning they use the athletic program's main logo but with the sport name list under it, it is acceptable to use on wikipedia. Please see this discussion for more information. If we can't find a sport-specific logo for a athletic team, we use the wordmark. In this case, the NIU Style Guide lists sports-specific logos and therefore they can be used only in the sports main article. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 19:41, 24 April 2017 (UTC)

You actually went through the trouble of (wrongfully) renaming .png files from "NIU football" "NIU basketball" etc., to the wrong abbreviation. Files which you created/uploaded and originally (correctly) named. Image files that are of the NIU wordmark that have NIU (not NI) in the actual image. Still a clown. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AnneMorgan88 (talkcontribs)

Kent State

Hey Corky, just a heads up that Kent State University seems to have tweaked the athletics logo yet again, using the updated "K" emblem found in the most recent branding guide on the main athletics logo and making "Kent State" a slightly narrower font. It can be seen on the main athletics website (which was recently updated), and in an article posted today about the new women's lacrosse team set to join the ASUN Conference in 2018-19. The updated logo is only on the main website, but hasn't made it to the social media accounts or any third-party sources yet that I could find. I'm guessing there will be a new edition of the branding guide out soon! --JonRidinger (talk) 18:15, 16 May 2017 (UTC)

@JonRidinger: Thanks, I'll take a look. Do we go ahead and update the logo here or wait? Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 20:18, 16 May 2017 (UTC)

Citadel Edits

Corky, thanks for your help editing the Citadel article. Your all-caps entry about class of 2017 data being irrelevant is understandable, but the 2017 info is relevant to the composition of the student body and significant. It's relevant and significant in terms of about half the school's graduates each year are cadets and the other half are civilian students. If you want to delete it, fine. However, when edits made by some of the citadel fans do not include all the facts or numbers, or are skewed in some manner, then I will ensure that ALL citadel students (cadets and civilians alike) are included. THANKS! Strgzr1 (talk) 20:10, 22 May 2017 (UTC)

@Strgzr1: You can see my comments at Talk:The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina#Class of 2017. If it is notable, they'll have outside coverage from the newspapers and television stations, not just the primary source (Citadel's website). Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 21:31, 22 May 2017 (UTC)

Spacing in headings, date formats

The prevailing standard in practice is not to put spaces on the insides of the equal signs in section headings. I invite you take a look at today's feature article, U.S. Route 113 or look at any number of good articles like Billy Cannon. The examples given at MOS:HEADING also suggest that those extra spaces should not be used. I do realize that the "new section" function on talk pages does put the spaces in. As for the date formats, Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Dates and numbers indicates that formatting like "2017-05-23" is unacceptable. Jweiss11 (talk) 00:26, 24 May 2017 (UTC)

I've always excluded those spaces but I never gave much thought to it. And yeah, formatting dates that way is just ugly. Although a lot of semi-auto tools will put them that way for whatever reason. Lizard (talk) 00:46, 24 May 2017 (UTC)
@Jweiss11: MOS says that spaces are "are optional and ignored." Is it problematic?—Bagumba (talk) 01:38, 24 May 2017 (UTC)
@Bagumba:, I would ask Corky if this is a problem, cf. this. Jweiss11 (talk) 01:41, 24 May 2017 (UTC)
Thanks for providing context.—Bagumba (talk) 01:46, 24 May 2017 (UTC)
"Two can play that game". Jweiss was making a big deal out of spacing, but yet he would remove those spacing... didn't make much sense to me. BUT, if he has to have his way, I am going to have mine. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 01:50, 24 May 2017 (UTC)
I think the both of you are too smart and valuable to the project to be squabbling over invisible formatting. Lizard (talk) 01:59, 24 May 2017 (UTC)
My concern was principally with the spacing in the head coaching record table, not the section headings. Jweiss11 (talk) 02:17, 24 May 2017 (UTC)
Which, as I've argued before, the spacing really doesn't matter... especially when I am about the only editor editing the article. I clearly prefer this version as I honestly don't see it as a huge problem where edits are going to be confused as to what field is which. Hell, I even tried to compromise here by getting rid of all that excess spacing and yet it was still your way, but... as usual... you reverted. God for bid we lose the excess spacing, still keeping it clean enough for other editors to see the fields like you want it to be. There was no harm in the last edit, but you're still being you and won't let it change. I use to have respect for you Jweiss, but in the past year you've pretty much lost all of my respect and trust. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 02:34, 24 May 2017 (UTC)
It doesn't matter of you're the only editor editing the article at this particular moment. You don't own the Garin Higgins article. I'm brought the spacing back in line with thousands of other instances of the same template across the encyclopedia. Jweiss11 (talk) 02:53, 24 May 2017 (UTC)
I know I don't own the article, neither do you. Unless there is a writing somewhere or consensus that says the spacing must be "xx by xx", it really shouldn't matter what the spacing is. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 02:56, 24 May 2017 (UTC)
But what you are doing is deploying a local, personal preference—on the article for the current head coach of your favorite team—that is out of sync with thousands of analogous instances of the template across the encyclopedia. Jweiss11 (talk) 13:39, 24 May 2017 (UTC)
And if I were to start expanding some other articles not with my favorite team, I'd do the same thing I did here. There is no need for all of that Spacing. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 18:19, 24 May 2017 (UTC)
Well, you can be sure that I will restore standard formatting whereever I notice it deviate. Jweiss11 (talk) 23:31, 24 May 2017 (UTC)

Thanks, requests

Hello Corkythehornetfan, I would like to say thanks for your due diligence with contacting the Boise State Broncos athletic department regarding the official colors. I have another additional request for you: could you please contact the Oregon Ducks athletic department and ask somebody there about what the official HTML or HEX color codes they use are? I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 18:00, 30 May 2017 (UTC)

@Charlesaaronthompson: I've emailed but haven't received a response. As I mentioned when I changed the colors, I believe all 2017 media guides – with the Baseball team's media guide – list PMS 3425, which is listed on the university brand website. When I extract the colors in the majority of the media guides for this school year, they're showing hex codes of  #006B4F  and  #FFED2F , which is not far off from  #006241  and  #FFF200 . This football media guide from November 2016 shows the exact hex code listed for Process Yellow C on the brand website. Therefore, I firmly believe these are the correct colors, with the "yellow" needing changed in the Module. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 18:40, 31 May 2017 (UTC)
So how do you extract the colors? What software or tools do you use? Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 18:41, 31 May 2017 (UTC)
@Charlesaaronthompson: I use Inkscape, which is what I use for creating the SVG logos. I also use DigitalColor Meter that is on the MacBooks and it lists the same colors I've listed. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 18:43, 31 May 2017 (UTC)
I saw the e-mail you forwarded to me. I'll let you go ahead and update the colors for the Oregon Ducks at Module:College color/data. Thanks for sending me that e-mail, and thanks for all the editing work that you do. Also, is there a reason why the text color is black in all of the main Oregon Ducks athletics team articles? I'm trying to figure out why that is, and what I can do to change it to white. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 22:21, 8 June 2017 (UTC)
I didn't see they sent black. It is set automatically to the best contrast. I've self reverted. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 22:26, 8 June 2017 (UTC)
What I meant was, if you look at the Oregon Ducks men's basketball article, for example, the text color in the infobox is colored black. I don't have enough expertise to know why that is or how to change that to white. Maybe you do? Maybe we need to let a template editor know about it? Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 23:09, 8 June 2017 (UTC)
I know what ya meant. I'll look into it. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 00:19, 9 June 2017 (UTC)

Missouri Western edits

Hi, Corky. Sorry to bother you - I requested some edits via the Missouri Western State University talk page in December. I realize that this page isn't a high priority one, and maybe a six-month wait isn't unusual, but I do think the changes are relatively non-controversial and in keeping with Wikipedia practice. Since you've been a faithful editor of the page, when you have a moment, could you review the changes I've asked for? I have updated the number of master degrees since my initial request, and have also requested some updates to the notable alumni section. I very much appreciate the work you do. Thanks. KentHeier (talk) 14:44, 6 June 2017 (UTC)

@KentHeier: No worries. I probably saw it in December but there is a good chance I forgot about it. Looks like JonRidinger has taken care of it. Let me know if there is anything else I can do. Thanks for your help! Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 20:08, 6 June 2017 (UTC)
@Corkythehornetfan:Thanks! KentHeier (talk) 13:43, 7 June 2017 (UTC)

Hoping to work together

I would like to work together on the CCI involving you.

As brief background, I am actively involved in investigating copyright issues. I have worked on some CCI's in the past. In one situation, I tried to elicit support from the involved editor which started out okay, but then fell apart. I haven't worked on CCI's for couple years.

Some editor recently cleaned up a backlog of requests for opening CCI's and established quite a few. I looked through them and recognize your name as someone who has been active in areas I'm interested in — women's basketball articles about coaches, players, and teams.

The CCI list edits in decreasing order of size. My approach is to take one or two of the largest ones and investigate them, and then do a few from the other end of the scale, which are typically easier.I'm not telling you anything new to say that most of your edits a fine, but unfortunately I see some situations where you have either copied some material or closely paraphrase some material from sources.

I do see that you proactively identified a couple situations where you knew there was a problem. I greatly appreciate that.

I'm not quite sure how best we can work together, assuming you are willing to. The items at the beginning of the list tend to me more challenging than the ones at the end so that's probably the best place to focus. In some cases, they are trivial. I see that you often revert a blanking or partial blanking of the page which results in a very large edit but absolutely no copyright issues. I had originally thought you might be able to tell me about such situations but I can imagine that an easy way for you to remember those so that seems like a nonstarter. My current request is you continue doing what you have done — pick one of the items at the beginning of the list, and if you see that you've use more material than is appropriate, fix it if you can and let me know that you've attempted to address it. I can then check that and revdel the intermediate versions.--S Philbrick(Talk) 16:56, 6 June 2017 (UTC)

@Sphilbrick: Thanks for messaging, I am willing to work with you as I stated on the talk page. I want this finished with so I'll be glad to work with you until it is finished. I'm beginning to rewrite some of the articles (Emporia State-related) where there is a slight problem so that the information can be kept, but yet is written in my own words. I'm check Earwig's tool as I do this. Once finished, I'll let you know and have you take a look. I'll do as you've suggested and notify you. Let me know what else I can do. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 22:24, 6 June 2017 (UTC)

I appreciated

your suggestion for a new article; in fact when I saw it I thought to myself, "now see, that's what happens when the silly squabbles get put to one side - people can work together and actually make a better encyclopedia!" I was surprised by the testy, and personal, response. Ah well. JohnInDC (talk) 12:51, 7 June 2017 (UTC)

@JohnInDC: I tried, I guess that's all I can do! 😔 She'll never be civil towards me (or others) as long as we use "Northern Illinois". I don't have the patience to work with her anymore so I wish the best of luck to those who can! I don't know how you're able to do it?! Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 16:56, 7 June 2017 (UTC)
I literally had just stopped watching the NIU pages because things seemed to have settled down. But as is now evident at Talk:Northern Illinois Huskies, it's not the case, sigh. JohnInDC (talk) 16:59, 7 June 2017 (UTC)
Yep... I saw that. I think she may be the one who "lack[s] the fundamental understanding of the issue" here... Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 17:17, 7 June 2017 (UTC)
@JohnInDC: Hope you don't mind, but I've requested for other opinions on this matter at the WikiProjects of College football and basketball. We clearly need more users beside us who she doesn't deal with on a regular basis to help see how we should go about this... Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 18:20, 7 June 2017 (UTC)
Yes, that was a good idea. Thanks. JohnInDC (talk) 18:24, 7 June 2017 (UTC)
@JohnInDC: I think she's got the Donald beat on saying "wrong". lol Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 19:21, 7 June 2017 (UTC)
@JohnInDC: time for an admin? Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 20:28, 7 June 2017 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) YES --JonRidinger (talk) 20:31, 7 June 2017 (UTC)
I'm always a bit depressed when, as ordinary editors, we can't work through a controversy but if past is prologue it is unlikely that she will ever acquiesce in a position other than whatever one she started out with. I guess we should be sure of what we're identifying as the problem. Shouting, disagreeability etc. aren't enough I don't think. Edit wars, personal attacks, persisted editing contrary to consensus - do we have enough there? JohnInDC (talk) 20:43, 7 June 2017 (UTC)
Well, in the time it took me to type that she stepped over the line. Huh. JohnInDC (talk) 20:44, 7 June 2017 (UTC)
I agree, but she'll never agree with any of us. I was leaning towards the edit warring she was causing and uncivil acts, with the other stuff as a side note. I'd like to have one conversation where she isn't name calling, yelling, etc. If she keeps it up, she'll be blocked indefinitely. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 21:07, 7 June 2017 (UTC)
Yeah, mostly I let it go because reacting too fast makes it seem like I'm spoiling for a fight with her, when I'd rather just try to work through stuff; but when you're called a moron, or "deceitful" or whatever all else for the third or fourth time it begins to feel like you're just not going to make any progress no matter how soberly and carefully you proceed. I guess in the end the biggest problem with NPA and AGF violations is not that someone is being mean but rather they're suggesting that they're not really engaged in the discussion. But anyhow. Blocked for a week. We'll see how she is when she gets back. Thanks. JohnInDC (talk) 21:16, 7 June 2017 (UTC)
Hm. Bears watching. JohnInDC (talk) 18:18, 13 June 2017 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) @JohnInDC: I was just thinking the same thing when I saw those edits. --JonRidinger (talk) 18:27, 13 June 2017 (UTC)
Well, that's 3 of us now. (BTW I meant, "It bears watching", not, "there are bears watching", which seems slightly sinister somehow.) JohnInDC (talk) 18:35, 13 June 2017 (UTC)
Yep, thought the same thing. Do we wait and see if they do anymore editing or go ahead and ask an admin to verify it? Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 20:39, 13 June 2017 (UTC)
Wait. It's really suspicious but we've got very little go to on at the moment. Also there'll be a pretty high correlation between "disruption" and "confirmation" (and conversely, "constructive" and "contra-indicate"), so there's no harm in waiting for more. JohnInDC (talk) 20:54, 13 June 2017 (UTC)

nowrapitems

Hey Corky @WOSlinker: went on a tear adding nowrapitems = yes to various sports navboxes. It REALLY helped with odd wrapping of date ranges, such as coaching tenures. I didn't know it was a property until then. h/t to WOSlinker!

So I implemented and rolledback on some of Category:NCAA Division I athletic director by conference navigational boxes, since word wrapping wasn't as bad as number wrapping. I defer to you if you want to finish the rest of the navboxes in this or similar cats like Category:NCAA Division I athletic director navigational boxes. Just offering the context of why/how I started, and then stopped/rolledback. Cheers, UW Dawgs (talk) 01:54, 8 June 2017 (UTC)

Thanks, UW Dawgs. On my computer it was placing a break between some AD's and their school, which I cannot stand. I'm not sure if it is like that on yours but if it is, I'd use the nowrap. In my opinion, it looks better if the name is right next to the school. I'm open to discussion though. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 07:02, 8 June 2017 (UTC)

Secondary conferences

You reverted secondary conferences on 4 schools with the reason that, "...the conferences are listed elsewhere in the article..." Did you bother to check? Because they were not listed elsewhere on 3 of them... GWFrog (talk) 21:56, 9 June 2017 (UTC)

Templates

We un-nest current templates. Current coaches for a conference are current (meaning they actually can come off articles), team coaching navboxes are historical, they never come off. Decisions made by you, JWeiss and Bagumba on somebody's Talk page are NOT consensus. Rikster2 (talk) 04:18, 10 June 2017 (UTC)

@Rikster2: Then I guess we can take it back to the WikiProject discussion, but it looks stupid when it is the only box out. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 05:23, 10 June 2017 (UTC)
That's one opinion. If the coaching tenure boxes weren't nested it wouldn't be the top box anyway, it'd be beneath the previous tenures. Rikster2 (talk) 10:58, 10 June 2017 (UTC)

conf color assist

re Template:Northeast Conference athletic director navbox, do we have a Template:CollegePrimaryStyle for Northeast Conference? Thank you, UW Dawgs (talk) 04:49, 10 June 2017 (UTC)

@UW Dawgs: We do now... you may need to purge the page before it will show.
I also hope you are going to create more articles? As I type this, it fails WP:EXISTING. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 05:26, 10 June 2017 (UTC)
Yes. UW Dawgs (talk) 08:20, 10 June 2017 (UTC)
Same request re Ohio Valley Conference? I used a color picker to get
["Ohio Valley Conference"] = {"#A51341", "#FFFFFF", "#D0A675"}, -- extracted from conf logo
, but didn't want to risk breaking anything. Cause was Template:Ohio Valley Conference athletic director navbox, but other templates had slightly differnt hex at Category:Ohio Valley Conference baseball navigational boxes. Again, thank you if you can assist. UW Dawgs (talk) 08:20, 10 June 2017 (UTC)
Resolved. Finally found a RS, ran through the sandbox, then added to the module, and updated all downstream OVC navboxes. RS had RGB which I converted to hex. You're welcome to review, but think I got the steps correct. Thank you again for refreshing my memory of those steps. UW Dawgs (talk) 14:38, 10 June 2017 (UTC)
Sorry, I had gone to bed for the night! Those are the colors I had gathered, too, when I created the File:Ohio Valley Conference logo.svg - I use the RGB over pantone numbers if there are no hex codes. Thanks for updating! Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 23:47, 10 June 2017 (UTC)

Ping Me?

Hey! Quick, simple question. I know you can customize signatures and I know where to go to do that. How do you add the (ping me) to the signature? What is the wikitext? I keep getting it wrong. Thanks in advance! Classicwiki (talk) 22:51, 11 June 2017 (UTC)

@Classicwiki: Where you edit your signature in Preferences, I just add (ping me) after my signature. So for my signature, it looks like the following (without the pre/nowiki):
<span style="background:black; color:#FFFFFF; border:1px solid black">Corkythe</span><span style="background:#BB8D0A; color:#FFFFFF; border:1px solid black"><span style="color:white">hornetfan</span></span> (ping me)
If you're doing a simple signature, for you it would look like the following (without the pre/nowiki).
Classicwiki (talk) (ping me)
which produces Classicwiki (talk) (ping me) 23:06, 11 June 2017 (UTC). If you're wanting to do some type of markup like I do, then just add (ping me) after the mark up. Does that help? Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 23:06, 11 June 2017 (UTC)
Definitely. Thanks so much! Classicwiki (talk) (ping me) 00:09, 12 June 2017 (UTC)

USC Trojans athletics colors

Could you please contact the USC Trojans athletics department and ask about what their official RGB HTML or HEX color codes are? Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 07:08, 13 June 2017 (UTC)

I've already done that (Monday)... which is why I posted in the edit summary "Until we get a response from...". Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 07:22, 13 June 2017 (UTC)
I saw the e-mail you forwarded to me. I think we should use this reference from USCTrojans.com. I know it doesn't spell out the HTML or HEX color codes, but it does say, "USC's primary colors remain Cardinal and Gold. But secondary colors of Black and White and a tertiary color of Metallic Gold have been added for occasional use." Other than that URL reference, I don't know what other URL reference could be used. Thanks again for your efforts. I appreciate your efforts. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 20:55, 13 June 2017 (UTC)
I'm going to disagree, mainly because it doesn't list any information besides the color names. The current USC Identity Guidelines lists everything but the metallic gold. We don't use the metallic gold on here so there really is no need to include it. And even though they use different hex codes (as noted on the Module), they use the same CMYK values and Pantone numbers as the university. Had they use different Pantone numbers, CMYK values, and/or RGB values, I'd support the reference from Athletics. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 21:20, 13 June 2017 (UTC)

Could you change the current logo to the correct logo, which is this logo. We use "global logo" variation in NBA articles and even official "Cleveland Cavaliers Reproduction and Usage Guideline Sheet" confirms that the current logo is just a primary icon. – Sabbatino (talk) 12:19, 14 June 2017 (UTC)

@Sabbatino: I think sportslogo.net got this one wrong. It is the primary logo which is the main logo. Personally, I'd favor the File:Cleveland Cavaliers secondary logo.svg (or the "C" logo) because that is what is on their jerseys and social media. However, the current logo I uploaded is used on their printable schedule, as well as the "C" logo. So for this one, I'd need more of a consensus from uncanvassed users before I'd upload the "global" logo. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 18:24, 14 June 2017 (UTC)
The "Cleveland Cavaliers Reproduction and Usage Guideline Sheet" is enough evidence since it comes from the NBA itself. We always use the "global logo", because those are the logos recognized by everyone. You uploaded the "primary icon", which is not the logo. The media guides released in autumn will justify my concern. – Sabbatino (talk) 18:30, 14 June 2017 (UTC)
Well, if you can provide proof that the global logos are being used, then I'll reconsider. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 18:54, 14 June 2017 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) The press release on the new logos seems pretty clear about the usage. The C-Sword is the primary logo and has been the primary icon for several seasons, at least on several apps and score widgets. The Global Shield logo is a combination of the primary logo and wordmark. If the new media guides for 2017-18 have different instructions, we can update it, but like I said, the press release seems fairly straightforward about the primary logo. --JonRidinger (talk) 19:01, 14 June 2017 (UTC)

GT Navboxes

I have no issue with you changing the colors of GT Navboxes, as long the the colors used are official GT colors, and the color scheme is readable. However, my main concern has always been that all GT Navboxes should have same color scheme per this discussion. So if you are going to change the color scheme on one GT Navbox, you will need to change the color scheme on all GT Navboxes, otherwise I will continue to revert your edits. thanks Mistercontributer (talk) 01:50, 16 June 2017 (UTC)

@Mistercontributer: There is a difference between academic colors and athletic colors. GT uses "Buzz gold" for academics and "Old gold" for Athletics. Keeping consistent with other university navboxes, if academics is different than athletics, we keep them separate. So no, they all don't need to be the same. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 03:13, 16 June 2017 (UTC)
So why did you not change the colors for this Navbox? You should be aware of this Navbox since you previously edited this Navbox. Again, consistency is my main concern. - Mistercontributer (talk) 11:54, 17 June 2017 (UTC)
Maybe because I'm a human being and can't remember every. single. navbox that is on Wikipedia OR that I got distracted and forgot about it. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 12:30, 17 June 2017 (UTC)

Score format in college football schedule tables

Corky, I'm a little confused about a series of edits you made to several Vanderbilt season articles, e.g. this one. The discussion in question resulted in a slight favoring of relevant team score first in these tables. You could reasonably interpret the discussion as having no consensus, which would then revert to the prevailing standard of relevant team score first. Yet you've reverted a series of edits by User:MDSanker and implemented winning score first. Can you explain? Jweiss11 (talk) 02:53, 19 June 2017 (UTC)

@Jweiss11: Because I've been reverted by several others (mainly Kobra98) after the discussion took place that said that the highest score goes first. That's the only reason. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 02:57, 19 June 2017 (UTC)
Seems strange that Kobra98 would have reverted you since he was a proponent of relevant score first and has made lots of edits like this one to revert others and implement or restore relevant score first. Jweiss11 (talk) 03:01, 19 June 2017 (UTC)
Then I made a mistake. All I remember was I reverted and I figured it was due to the edits like I made recently. If you disagree with it, just revert the edits. I'm not really interested in the scoring that much to care about it. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 03:09, 19 June 2017 (UTC)
Understood. Thanks for clarifying. I've gone head and reverted those edits of yours in question. Jweiss11 (talk) 03:40, 19 June 2017 (UTC)

The Citadel edits

Hi Corkythehornetsfan, I'm leaving a message here because I am still learning the Wikipedia editing process and I'm not certain that my response to your answer to my original comment today went through. Anyway, Gråbergs Gråa Sång said that I wasn't allowed to list Mr. Steffner's book as a literature source book about The Citadel because it isn't fiction. I'm just going on what he said. But I must admit that it seems rather curious that such books should not be allowed. I read his book and it could certainly be considered literature about the school. But I figure that Gråbergs Gråa Sång has been doing this longer, so he should know what items aren't allowed to be posted about The Citadel. Thanks! Don the hamster (talk) 19:44, 19 June 2017 (UTC)

Hi Don the hamster! That's understandable... I was just confused at your request on the talk page because you didn't want a book about the topic to be listed. Going back to your previous request – your request wasn't allowed under the "Literature review" section because that is underneath a heading for fictional books only. For the book you want to add (Through Their Eyes...; I'd also recommend moving the link from Daniel Library as well), I would recommend a "Further readings" sub-section below the reference section which is right above the external links section. This would be acceptable. Please see Harvard University#Further reading as an example. Hope this helps? Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 20:02, 19 June 2017 (UTC)
Thanks for the information. So I would be allowed to start a new section similar to the one you linked to? If so, I'll do it and try to add Mr. Steffner's book as well. Also, perhaps it would be well to change the Citadel in Fictional Depictions In Literature page to simply Literature, which would allow all books about The Citadel to be listed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Don the hamster (talkcontribs) 20:19, 19 June 2017 (UTC)
Yes, I'd recommend just copying the format from the Harvard University article and do the exact same format for the Citadel. I would be against the changing the fictional literature section just because it is used across the WP:WikiProject Universities. I'd recommend seeking comments from other users on the Citadel's talk page or the WikiProject Universities talk page. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 20:33, 19 June 2017 (UTC)

Athletic Director in College Baseball team infobox

Hi Corky, thanks for adding the Athletic Director field to Infobox college baseball team. Given the number of infoboxes that will need to be updated, is there a chance you could make it an optional parameter? Take a look at Central Connecticut Blue Devils baseball to see how it looks while its mandatory, but unfilled. Billcasey905 (talk) 19:59, 21 June 2017 (UTC)

@Billcasey905: I probably can, I'll look into it tonight when I get home. I am new to this template editing thing so it may take me some time, depending on if I need to ask for help. I'll need to do this for the college basketball infobox as well! Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 20:07, 21 June 2017 (UTC)
I'm not great at it myself, otherwise I would have just taken a try at it. I always seem to mess up the syntax with the optional parameters... Billcasey905 (talk) 20:12, 21 June 2017 (UTC)
@Billcasey905: Well, it looks like I forgot the " | " at the end... It should be fixed now! Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 22:15, 21 June 2017 (UTC)
No not quite. see Boston College Eagles baseball. I have gone through all of the SEC baseball articles and added the AD and was thinking about doing the same thing for the ACC, but I first thought, who the heck changed this infobox? And I ended up here. I may still fix the ACC pages after you get a chance to fix the template. Thanks --rogerd (talk) 22:21, 21 June 2017 (UTC)
@Rogerd: You'll need to purge your web browser by adding ?action=purge at the end of the url. I checked it after purging and it doesn't show anymore. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 22:27, 21 June 2017 (UTC)
Actually, I didn't even need to do that. I re-opened the BC page without doing the purge (I was going to type in the purge syntax), and it was gone. Not sure why it is that way now, but I'll take it. thanks --rogerd (talk) 22:34, 21 June 2017 (UTC)
Great, glad to see it works that way now~ !!!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Billcasey905 (talkcontribs) 18:55, 21 June 2017 (UTC)
Do you think there is any way you can add the AD to some of the other sports like Infobox college softball team or Infobox college soccer team? There are more at Category:American college sports infobox templates. I looked at the changes you made to the other ones and thought about it and decided I would probably screw it up. And thats coming from someone who is a programmer for a living! --rogerd (talk) 16:42, 22 June 2017 (UTC)
lol and I'm the exact opposite. I don't have the slightest clue on how to program! I'll add them this afternoon/evening Rogerd. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 18:11, 22 June 2017 (UTC)
@Rogerd: I believe I've updated all of the infoboxes to include the AD. Please let me know if I've missed any. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 23:55, 22 June 2017 (UTC)
"athletic_directory"?? it would be nice if I could type! Thanks for the catch. --rogerd (talk) 00:15, 23 June 2017 (UTC)

Thanks for updating Congressional photos. Can you please note the change in the comment box, so subsequent reviewers can see, at a glance, that this is a mere photo update?—GoldRingChip 17:16, 22 June 2017 (UTC)

@GoldRingChip: I do for the most part. I think I forget when it comes to the articles for the state. Besides, by me not saying what I'm changing, it is making others check my work! 😉 Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 18:07, 22 June 2017 (UTC)

Michigan Michigan State basketball rivalry

Thanks for the color cell edit, but I believe the maize and gold usage would still pass the required standards. As such, I think it should be changed back to maize and gold. Thoughts? Lincolning (talk) 19:59, 22 June 2017 (UTC)

@Lincolning: I've already discussed my reasons as to why I change it. If you would prefer to have the Maize and Blue, go ahead and change it – I'm fine with that. My only request is that you change it so that only UMich is changed and not the whole edit. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 23:59, 22 June 2017 (UTC)
@Corkythehornetfan:I just wanted to give you a heads up on my thoughts so that you didn't think I was simply undoing your work without any kind of context. Thanks. Lincolning (talk) 15:32, 23 June 2017 (UTC)

Neil Gorsuch

I'm not sure I understand what the problem is. Isn't this template consistent with the ones for other justices? Deb (talk) 11:00, 25 June 2017 (UTC)

@Deb: Yes it is, however... as it stands right now, it fails Wikipedia's guidelines. The purpose of a navbox is to navigate; the template currently does not navigate throughout related articles. Right now, it is only being used in the Neil Gorsuch article. A user can refund the template once there are several articles to pass WP:EXISTING (usually 3 or four other articles, along with the main article). What's the purpose of having a navbox if it doesn't navigate? Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 11:08, 25 June 2017 (UTC)
Doesn't this mean that all those templates ought to be deleted? Deb (talk) 11:28, 25 June 2017 (UTC)
@Deb: No. The others are used in 5 or more articles, which passes the guidelines... Gorsuch's does not and is only used in one. He doesn't have enough articles to have a template. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 11:45, 25 June 2017 (UTC)
Okay, with you now. Deb (talk) 12:09, 25 June 2017 (UTC)
Apparently someone re-created it. I deleted it again --rogerd (talk) 18:25, 25 June 2017 (UTC)
You requested the template be protected from re-creation. I see in the discussion that there is some rationale that it may be justified to be legitimately re-created in the future, so I only protected it for a month. Does that work for you? I can make it shorter or longer or indefinite. --rogerd (talk) 21:45, 25 June 2017 (UTC)
@Rogerd: Yes, I'm fine with that... I didn't really have a time span for it to be protected, just that my main concern was that there was going to be a recreation of it when it didn't justify its purpose! Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 00:22, 26 June 2017 (UTC)

Kansas State Officials

My rationale for removing the congressmen from

is that they are not statewide officials. They represent portions of the state through their congressional districts while people like Jerry Moran and Pat Roberts represent the whole state. The latter are thus statewide officials in my view while the former aren't. JocularJellyfish (talk) 00:21, 27 June 2017 (UTC)
Then get a discussion going and obtain a consensus. The problem is when the same templates for other states exist and are used in the same way as this one is, but only this one is removed, I have a problem. I disagree with your rational. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 00:27, 27 June 2017 (UTC)
What exactly do you disagree with me on? For at-large representatives like Lisa Blunt Rochester, Greg Gianforte, Liz Cheney, and Don Young, I believe that they should stay in the box because their constituency is the whole state. I don't see the need to change them. Only the minority of boxes actually list representatives (assuming they aren't at-large): Idaho, Kansas, Massachusetts, Nevada, and New Hampshire. I would remove the reps from all of them to make it consistent across the board. JocularJellyfish (talk) 01:10, 27 June 2017 (UTC)
I think they need to stay in the navboxes. It makes no sense to exclude them and leave the other federal officials. Either you keep both or you remove them both. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 01:46, 27 June 2017 (UTC)

Auburn Tigers official colors

Hello Corkythehornetfan, I sincerely believe that this URL is the official URL that should be used at Module:College color/data to represent the colors for the Auburn Tigers. I got there from this URL. I believe that this URL only spells out the colors for the website. There's a difference, in my opinion. I hope we can reach consensus on this topic. Maybe we need to reach out and ask other editors? Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 05:16, 28 June 2017 (UTC)

Since you have edited articles in college baseball, may I suggest that you add your name to Wikipedia:WikiProject College baseball#Participants. Just a suggestion. Maybe you aren't the college baseball fanatic I am. I am just cooling off after the 2017 College World Series, even though my team didn't make it. --rogerd (talk) 14:47, 30 June 2017 (UTC)

Sports rivalry series table rank format

For some reason, changing "#" to "No." for rankings on Template:Sports rivalry series table causes an error that undoes the color formatting. This should be fixed as part of our quest to enforce MOS:POUND with an iron fist. Lizard (talk) 17:18, 5 July 2017 (UTC)

@Lizard the Wizard: That's getting into the Module:Sports rivalry series table for the template, which I'm not comfortable with editing. Pinging Frietjes to see if she can take a look at it. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 22:18, 5 July 2017 (UTC)

@Lizard the Wizard: I should have been more specific. I assumed that when I said example you would understand it as an example of something breaking. I checked the page that you sent and the table is rendering properly. it also renders properly if you change "#12 Florida" to "Florida (No. 12)". Frietjes (talk) 12:52, 6 July 2017 (UTC)
Changing "#12 Florida" to "No. 12 Florida" removes the color formatting in the cell. Lizard (talk) 12:54, 6 July 2017 (UTC)
see the examples for three different formats. Frietjes (talk) 13:12, 6 July 2017 (UTC)

MOS:POUND explicitly states "avoid using the # symbol" Frietjes (talk) 14:47, 6 July 2017 (UTC)

College teams/conferences lists

Listing more than a school's primary conference in the athletics infobox can make for a cluttered jumble for some schools... Seems to me to be neater (and less confusing) to use notes below the teams list to show those teams that compete in other than the primary conference. if the teams list is entered directly after the, "A member of... NCAA sanctioned sports..." sentence and floated "center" rather than left or right, it makes for a clean display... Otherwise, follow the, "A member ... sanctioned sports..." sentence with a statement or statements of teams competing in other conferences with no mention of secondary conferences in the infobox. IMO... GWFrog (talk) 22:30, 6 July 2017 (UTC)

@GWFrog: I agree with the infobox clutter... I don't like centering the box unless there is just not enough content in the article to list at the right and I don't like the idea of inserting the conferences directly under the teams box as it will make it too large and doesn't fit the body well as notes. See what I did at SIU Edwardsville Cougars for the box and wording around it... I think that would help the cleanliness of the box area... as for the sentence next to it, how about something like "Notre Dame sanctions 23 NCAA varsity sports – 11 men's teams, 11 women's teams, and 1 co-ed team – with the football team competing as an Independent, and men's ice hockey in the Big Ten Conference."? Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 22:54, 6 July 2017 (UTC)
The Cougars is what I had looked at just before adding the last sentence... I think that's a go... GWFrog (talk) 04:41, 7 July 2017 (UTC)

I've been pretty much tied up with other stuff lately and have only been doing stuff that pops up on my watchlist and needs immediate attention (you know, vandalism and sloppy edits...), but I was planning on getting back at this conference by conference like today... GWFrog (talk) 01:38, 8 July 2017 (UTC)
I see you changed my placement of the teams box on Hartford Hawks... I thought it was more logical placeing it immediately adjacent to the teams statement...GWFrog (talk) 04:05, 9 July 2017 (UTC)
@GWFrog: IMHO, its best fit is on the right – it is still in the same vicinity and it is filling up some of that empty space on the right side... Also, on my mobile technologies (iPad and android phone), it shows directly next to the 'teams' section... Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 04:40, 9 July 2017 (UTC)
I don't know how you are viewing, but your placement has inconsistent results on both my desktop and tablet, depending on the total content of the article... Despite your placing it at the same point in the text, sometimes it shows up beneath the infobox, other times it appears above the teams and conference statement, and yet other times it's to the right of the statement but well below the infobox... GWFrog (talk) 05:56, 12 July 2017 (UTC)
@GWFrog: Mobile views are going to be different than desktop views, different screen sizes may have an effect on it and depending on the article size, it may be viewed in a different spot. I need the article name(s) in order to see what you're talking about, but I've checked on my laptop (Safari web browser) and my work desktop (Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Google Chrome web browsers) and they seem to be in the same spot. UVA colors

Hi! The UVA website listed in the references in my edit ([1]) lists the color to use on the web as 10366A or Prussian Blue. The edit is sourced. The color you reverted it to is also listed; however, it is far too dark and borders on black. The official UVA colors are orange and blue, and this reflects the colors more accurately. Could you please revert your edit? Malinaccier (talk) 20:57, 9 July 2017 (UTC)

@Malinaccier: The official PMS color is 282 as seen at the sourced reference and this logo sheet. UVA uses a darker blue, so I don't plan to revert my edit. The lighter blue is for their website. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 21:19, 9 July 2017 (UTC)
Pantone 282 is not the color you changed it to, but I do think Pantone 282 looks better online (Hex #041e42). The color you changed it to (Hex #001732--also listed on the other reference) is significantly darker than Pantone 282 and does not accurately reflect the colors. Per your reference, I will update to Pantone 282. Malinaccier (talk) 21:39, 9 July 2017 (UTC)
Schools don't always use the exact code from Pantone.com. They have a pantone number and use a number close to it. We go by what the sources say on the school websites, just like we do for content in other articles. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 23:19, 9 July 2017 (UTC)

Infobox:Neil Gorsuch

You reverted my edit to his Doctor of Philosophy abbreviation... Oxford is a British school and it awards the DPhil. American schools like Harvard award the Phd. For that reason, I believe that you are incorrect and your edit should be reverted. JocularJellyfish (talk) 01:38, 13 July 2017 (UTC)

personally, I disagree. He is an American, so the American form should be used, not the British way. If he was British or worked in Great Britain, then I wouldn't mind the DPhil, but that isn't the case here. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 02:27, 13 July 2017 (UTC)

Request for specific assistance

I worked on a few CCI's. We always hope that the editor will be a contributor to the effort; we are almost always disappointed in the level of involvement. I'm happy to say you are an exception at least with respect to my experience. You've accepted that some of your early edits had issues and you've been more than willing to work with me to identify and clean some of the articles.

If that's enough of a suck up, I will note that while I'm working through a number of them, the Emporia State articles are a bit of a challenge. I wonder if you could take some of them on?

Specific examples:

 • Article 48 Emporia State University Memorial Union
 • Article 53 Emporia State University
 • Article 57 Emporia State Lady Hornets basketball

--S Philbrick(Talk) 20:19, 13 July 2017 (UTC)

Oh sorry, I meant to follow up with my process. It's possible you know exactly what to do but on the chance you don't lean heavily on Earwig. As an example, with article 48, I open the four links listed. The smaller ones I can check manually but the larger one such as the first I will copy and paste the old ID 575940517 into Earwig: Example

I'm not going to get too excited about a phrase such as "Emporia State University Memorial Union" even though it is identified, but I will check the other phrases in either confirm that they have been removed in intermediate edits or reword them.--S Philbrick(Talk) 20:24, 13 July 2017 (UTC)

@Sphilbrick: I'll go ahead and tackle them... I've been working on and off of the Emporia State articles with Earwig's tool over the past several weeks and am continuing on it. I just finished with the Union article and it should be good to go now. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 21:27, 13 July 2017 (UTC)

Template:Infobox sports rivalry

Fair enough, but I think my argument applies to all sports. The logos do not improve the articles at all. There is usually no way that any team wouldn't be identifyable by its name alone, so the logos simply serve as decoration. I have yet to see an example of this not being the case. – PeeJay 09:39, 19 July 2017 (UTC)

2016–17 Fort Wayne Mastodons men's basketball team

Hi You reverted my PROD on this article. All articles have to meet WP:GNG and this team has also to meet WP:NORG. It doesn't matter about the state of the other articles because even if there is precedent this does not mean that this article get an automatic pass on notability. I tagged this article because it was in my feed as a new pages reviewer.

I clearly marked as a reason for prodding "Fails WP:NORG notably WP:ORGDEPTH fails WP:GNG the only sources are the teams own pages. If this tag is removed without sources being added the page will probably be proposed for deletion via WP:AFD." I would have thought that as a very experienced editor especially in this domain you might have addressed the problem rather just reverting the edit. Your explanation for reverting it does not address the problem that I brought up. We have a massive backlog of unreviewed articles which we are trying to work through and we do not have time to improve every poorly sourced article. It would be cool if other experienced editors would help rather than just reverting our work. Domdeparis (talk) 13:48, 19 July 2017 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) I agree with Corky here. That you have a backlog of articles to review doesn't justify deleting articles (see WP:DEL1), especially with ample precedence for similar season articles of hundreds of Division I college basketball teams. Finding sources won't be an issue for a Division I team. This is simply a case where the article is new and hasn't developed all that much, on top of the reality that it doesn't need an excessive amount of additional sources at this point since it's mostly just the roster and schedule. Just a quick Google search for Fort Wayne Mastodons basketball found links to pages and articles for the 2016-17 season on both local and national media: NBC Sports, MSN Sports, CBS Sports, ESPN
So yeah, clearly it can pass WP:N and lack of development isn't a reason alone for deletion, especially for an article whose subject is still quite recent. I'm willing to bet using AfD will result in a strong keep for the article too. --JonRidinger (talk) 22:19, 19 July 2017 (UTC)

UNLV Rebels and Nevada Wolf Pack Logos

The UNLV Rebels and Nevada Wolfpack page all should have the current logos. NetWitz (talk) 02:53, 20 July 2017 (UTC)

@NetWitz: Yes, but per WP:NFC and WP:NFC#UUI §17, the main logos – which are non-free logos – should only be used in the main article. The sub-artciles – which are any of the individual sports articles – can only have the wordmark that is in the Public Domain or an individual sports logo. This is why I keep reverting your edits and have even explained in the edit summary. I am asking you to stop adding the main logo in the sub-articles. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 02:57, 20 July 2017 (UTC)
Also, you are now violating WP:3RR by edit-warring. Please stop or you'll be reported. Thanks, Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 02:59, 20 July 2017 (UTC)
You are not making any sense whatsoever, I am going to report you — Preceding unsigned comment added by NetWitz (talkcontribs) 03:00, 20 July 2017 (UTC)
OK, but I've explained it to you pretty clearly. Non-free logos – which are the two main logos you are adding to the articles – cannot be used in the subarticles (e.g. UNLV Rebels football). Only those images in the public domain – such as the wordmarks – can only be used in the team articles. I don't know how much clearer I can be. Also, you've had a couple of others revert your edits, so that should tell you something. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 03:04, 20 July 2017 (UTC)

No, the main pages are the articles about the athletics department as a whole, not the college. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 03:08, 20 July 2017 (UTC)

It still doesn't make sense to me and that wordmark isn't even current, the wordmark in the new logo has a completely deferent font NetWitz (talk) 03:18, 20 July 2017 (UTC)NetWitz

(talk page stalker) Main pages are UNLV Rebels and Nevada Wolfpack, i.e. the pages about the respective athletic program. The copyrighted logos can be used on them under fair use. The pages like UNLV Rebels football and Nevada Wolfpack baseball, i.e. the ones about specific teams, are "sub pages" of the main athletic program page, so the logo can't be used there under fair use claims. The way around that is if there is a specific sport version of the logo, such as at Kent State Golden Flashes baseball, which we can use in the team article only under fair use (but not in articles about specific seasons). If the wordmark is outdated, upload the new one or ask for assistance. Inserting the copyrighted logo, however, will just get reverted. --JonRidinger (talk) 03:19, 20 July 2017 (UTC)
They still use this wordmark – you can check their website where they've posted images within the last day or so with the same wordmark. Can you give an example? If you're still talking about UNLV, here is one of many examples, as it was posted today (July 19). Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 03:34, 20 July 2017 (UTC)

Im talking about MSN Sports NetWitz (talk) 03:36, 20 July 2017 (UTC)NetWitz

That's an external website, which has nothing to do with Wikipedia. If you look at their social media accounts, they still use the wordmark... Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 03:41, 20 July 2017 (UTC)
Yeah, external websites like MSN and ESPN have their own usage agreements with schools about where and how the logos can be used. Those don't apply to Wikipedia usage since it's a completely different website. Wikipedia has its own policies on using copyrighted images in articles and generally operates under the "fair use" policy, which greatly limits where copyrighted images (not just logos) can be used. --JonRidinger (talk) 03:45, 20 July 2017 (UTC)

NBA, NHL and every other logos

I would like to know what is so "horrible" with my uploads? Care to explain? And the bottom part (the white outline around the logo) at File:Denver Nuggets.svg is gone when you upload your version so your version is also horrible, and this is not the first time that your uploads take out parts of logos, so be careful at calling something horrible or otherwise, because you are in the same boat. – Sabbatino (talk) 06:52, 21 July 2017 (UTC)

A) Your files are oversized as they should be 300x300 or less, not the 512 you have them uploaded as, and B) the coding is screwed up so when one goes to edit it, it needs completely reworked because parts of the file are missing. You care to explain "this is not the first time that your uploads take out parts of logo"? I usually fix them if I catch them. Also, the ® is optional and doesn't really matter if it is in the logo or not. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 07:33, 21 July 2017 (UTC)
And what is wrong with the coding in my versions? Do you intentionally upload wrong logos? I reverted the Denver Nuggets' and Florida Panthers' logo as you removed the outline for no reason and messed up the colors. Same goes the the Vegas Golden Knights' logo when you uploaded it and it lacked the white outline and other white objects. Please double-check before you upload the logos in the future. – Sabbatino (talk) 18:34, 23 July 2017 (UTC)
White borders are optional, not required. It is just your opinion. I've told you already what's wrong - the files don't open correctly in programs and it goes to 512px. The Panthers logo cane directly from the website, with the coding fixed. This is why I don't deal with other projects because people like you ruin them. Please don't comment on this talk page anymore. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 18:39, 23 July 2017 (UTC)
The only person who is ruining something is you as you upload the WRONG logos and do not listen to anyone else, but yourself. And no, the white borders are not optional. If the logo has an outline then it SHOULD be included. All the NHL logos uploaded by me came from the teams' websites and they are correct. Your ownership on NFL-related logos or colors is silly and I could go to ANI, but I do not feel the need to argue with someone, who acts crazy when someone points out the errors to him/her. Take care and lighten up, because this incivility from you will not lead anywhere. And failing to tell what is wrong with coding does not help me or anyone else either as everything is showing fine on my programs (Illustrator, Photoshop, Inkscape or other programs). I am done with your strange madness over such small things. – Sabbatino (talk) 19:43, 23 July 2017 (UTC)

Template:NFLPrimaryColor & Template:NFLTertiaryColorRaw

Since you're a template editor, I was wondering if you could please sync Template:NFLPrimaryColor & Template:NFLTertiaryColorRaw for me? here's the sandbox edit diff for Template:NFLPrimaryColor & here's the sandbox edit diff for Template:NFLTertiaryColorRaw. Please update both templates? Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 22:56, 22 July 2017 (UTC)

@Charlesaaronthompson:  Done Please make sure I made the correct changes. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 23:48, 22 July 2017 (UTC)
I looked it over in both templates. You made the changes I was requesting. Thank you so much! Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 23:57, 22 July 2017 (UTC)

Idaho Vandals navigational boxes

Corky, I defer to you on the color contrast issues here, but all of the Idaho navboxes should have the same color scheme. See: Category:Idaho Vandals navigational boxes. Jweiss11 (talk) 03:37, 31 July 2017 (UTC)

@Jweiss11: I agree. Charlesaaronthompson who changed those colors a while back has a very bad habit of not changing every box for a team, but just a couple. I've explained more on your talk page about the font color. They'll be updated to match each other. Thanks, Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 03:40, 31 July 2017 (UTC)

Current Senators

I suggest, as you implied, that both House & Senate articles be moved to "List of …"—GoldRingChip 20:36, 1 August 2017 (UTC)

@GoldRingChip: I'm kinda torn on how the page should be titled... do you think a requested move would be best so that there is a consensus among the Project? Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 21:34, 1 August 2017 (UTC)
While I don't think it's all that controversial (WP:BB), I'm open to a group discussion. A little WP:Consensus never hurt anyone. —GoldRingChip 01:43, 2 August 2017 (UTC)

Wray, etc.

All good. I realized I messed up once I figured out that Mr. Wray hasn't yet taken the Oath of Office.

I've also noticed a significant increase of these sorts of incidents, in which a nominee has been accepted by the Senate and their Wiki page is immediately updated, as if they're already in office — they don't start until they swear an oath. I admit, I'm partly to blame for some hiccups and mishaps, but it's just slightly annoying.

Anyway, thank you for catching my error. It's been a long day.

Have a good one!

Re Purdue Sports (Boilermakers)

Hi Corkythehornetfan! Your revert of my edit of Purdue Boilermakers may make sense to you as Purdue Sports = Boilermakers is known to you. However, while editing WP I discovered that Purdue Sports =Boilermakers, neither of which was known to me so I made a redirect of Purdue Sports. For others like me (not American or football fans, as yet!), that redirect may not make sense, so I made my Purdue Boilermakers according to wp:Redirect#What needs to be done on pages that are targets of redirects? and its "principle of least astonishment". Therefore I request you revert your revert, or suggest something to achieve the same effect as my edit of Purdue Boilermakers. Regards DadaNeem (talk) 19:55, 2 August 2017 (UTC)

@DadaNeem: I understand your reasoning, however, I'd recommend going to one of the WikiProjects (WP:WikiProject Sports) for a group-wide consensus. This has been the practice for awhile now. If we're going to change it up on one article, we need to change all articles in the WikiProject. I will not revert my edit until consensus says otherwise. Thanks, Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 20:03, 2 August 2017 (UTC)
I don't really see the need for a consensus as it's just the way redirects work and applied in this case. I don't know of other cases for other sports brands, do you? Even if there are other cases the same logic applies whether in sports or whatever. DadaNeem (talk) 20:10, 2 August 2017 (UTC)
I don't know much out of the American college sports. I still don't like the idea, and I don't think others will in the American college WikiProjects, mainly because if one reads in the lede sentences of the articles, they know that it is talking about the athletics (sports) programs for the school. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 20:44, 2 August 2017 (UTC)
I'll have to get back to this later as life intervenes. btw I equally wouldn't know where to start in WP:WikiProject Sports. Cheers! DadaNeem (talk) 21:15, 2 August 2017 (UTC)

Header 1

...Was that message really necessary? You obviously didn't revert anything of mine; the page is consistently made LARGER with every appointment Trump makes, I doubt a small table with text in-between departments makes that MUCH of a difference; it should be the goal of wikipedia to consistently IMPROVE articles anyway possible. That is what I am trying to do here. I saw where someone hid the offices within the Executive Office and I thought I'd take the initiative and apply it to the rest of the page. - 04:59 PM (CST) Blakebs (talk)

Pittsburgh Pirates colors

Would you be amenable to and/or okay with it if the colors for the Pittsburgh Pirates at Module:Baseball color/data were listed like this?: 1.  #FDB827 , 2.  #000000 , 3.  #000000 , 4.  #FFFFFF  I've already left messages on Joeykai's and Oknazevad's talk pages about this topic. I'm trying to reach consensus with other editors regarding the color formatting for the Pittsburgh Pirates, per Module talk:Baseball color. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 20:18, 3 August 2017 (UTC)

@Charlesaaronthompson: Why is there two blacks listed? And may I ask where you retrieved the colors from and is the gold going to be the background? If gold is the background, I'm going to oppose that specific change. I would also recommend in the future to keep the discussion centralized in one location and then notify users of the discussion. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 20:26, 3 August 2017 (UTC)
I obtained the HTML color codes from MLBStyleGuide.com. The reason why I listed the black color twice was because I was going to use gold as the background color, with black as both the text and border color. The reason why I was going to use gold as the background color was in order to differentiate the Pirates' colors from the Steelers' colors (both teams use black and gold, which I guess is why the Pirates use gold as the text color in the title at Template:Pittsburgh Pirates.) I had tried to notify the other editors (Joeykai and Oknazevad) at Module talk:Baseball color#Pittsburgh Pirates colors, but no other editor responded to my talk page messages there. That's why I'm going around asking other editors, in order to reach consensus. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 20:33, 3 August 2017 (UTC)
I'll just respond here, rather than on my talk page, as there is more discussion here. In choosing the Pirates' colors on Wikipedia, we need to make sure that the colors are compliant in regards to the contrast and also that they accurately represent the colors of the team. I see no reason why "differentiating the Pirates' colors from the Steelers' colors" should supersede "accurately represent the colors of the team" in terms of importance as a goal. The Pirates' primary color is black, not gold, so it should stay that way on wikipedia. And if the Pirates and Steelers have the same colors in real life, then they should have the same colors on wikipedia; it isn't a problem. Joeykai (talk) 20:52, 3 August 2017 (UTC)
@Joeykai: Thanks for responding. Actually, the Pirates' primary color is  gold , per MLBStyleGuide.com. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 21:07, 3 August 2017 (UTC)
Thanks for clarifying. I agree with Joey – no need to differentiate the colors. Due to it being a secured form and I can't access it (I've tried multiple times), I stand by my !vote of opposing the change. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 21:12, 3 August 2017 (UTC)
Yes, Corky and Joeykai, it is a secured form. However, I Google Searched "mlb pressbox access denied" (sic). That led me to find this cached Google URL, which is where I found the login information needed to access MLBStyleGuide.com. Also, I've already ensured with this color proposal that the colors used are WP:CONTRAST-compliant, per Snook.ca's Colour Contrast Checker. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 21:21, 3 August 2017 (UTC)
I also see no reason to change. oknazevad (talk) 22:35, 3 August 2017 (UTC)

I have a request for you: could you please update the logo for the Indiana Pacers at File:Indiana_Pacers.svg? My URL reference is Stats.NBA.com. I have tried to convert a .PNG version to .SVG using Inkscape using Path>Trace bitmap, but I just can't figure out how to do it myself in Inkscape. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 22:26, 3 August 2017 (UTC)

There are tutorials on the web. Find one, watch it and work on an image as you go so you can learn. That's how I did it. Once you trace it, you have to then remove the bitmap image and work on the newly converted image. As for the logo, ask the expert "Sabbatino". I don't feel like arguing with them because I can guarantee you they'll revert my edit so it's not with the hassle. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 02:00, 4 August 2017 (UTC)
Pinging me on your talk page will surely "not get" my attention. And undermining others over some disagreements is a personal attack. Therefore, you should just move on instead of calling someone "names" as I do not really have the need to argue with someone. – Sabbatino (talk) 06:21, 4 August 2017 (UTC)

Embry-Riddle Eagles/NCAA Div II Member Athletics Page

Hi Corkythehornetfan, I've noticed that my Alma mater Embry–Riddle Aeronautical University does not have a page for their athletics team. I've created a draft page Embry-Riddle Eagles but have been having issues trying to get it approved since I'm new at this. Can you take a quick peak at my draft and set me straight and/or approve it? It's bugging me that all other schools in their conference have pages except for Embry-Riddle. Regards, Rproctor721 (talk) 14:53, 4 August 2017 (UTC)

Hi, Rproctor721! I'll take a look later today and see what I can do to help. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 15:24, 4 August 2017 (UTC)
Thanks, Corkythehornetfan! I really appreciate it! Rproctor721 (talk) 02:49, 5 August 2017 (UTC)
@Rproctor721: I will go ahead and accept it, but you need to expand it a little more. Any information you put in there should be backed by reliable third party sources such as newspapers, TV stations, etc. You need to show why the Athletics program is notable and deserves an article. Take a look around other Division II articles (or even Division I) and see how they are built and go from there. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 04:26, 5 August 2017 (UTC)
Corkythehornetfan I certainly will work on expanding the article and I've been looking at the others in the Sunshine State Conference for guidance. Thanks for accepting it. It's still showing up as a draft however. Is that normal? Rproctor721 (talk) 02:11, 6 August 2017 (UTC)
I haven't done it yet, but will do tomorrow (Sunday). I was waiting to hear back from you. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 02:21, 6 August 2017 (UTC)
@Rproctor721: Next time, please be patient and wait until the page is accepted and moved. Just because I said "I'll accept" doesn't mean it's accepted until I hit a button. I know you're new, so I'm just letting you know. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 06:51, 7 August 2017 (UTC)

1RR at Donald Trump

Greetings Corky! I understand your rationale for deleting material from the Donald Trump infobox, although I personally think it should stay. Regardless of what should be done, and regardless of the interpretation of the established consensus item, you are in breach of the special 1RR restriction on the article, which says You must not make more than one revert per 24 hours to this article, must not reinstate any challenged (via reversion) edits without obtaining consensus on the talk page of this article, and are subject to discretionary sanctions while editing this page.. Please self-revert this[2] and start a new talk page discussion. — JFG talk 21:48, 4 August 2017 (UTC)

I'm well aware of the guidelines. I would have reverted my edits had you not pulled that crap on me. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 22:11, 4 August 2017 (UTC)

New Page Reviewer granted

Hello Corkythehornetfan. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group, allowing you to review new pages and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or in some cases, tag them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is a vital function for policing the quality of the encylopedia, if you have not already done so, you must read the new tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the various deletion criteria. If you need more help or wish to discuss the process, please join or start a thread at page reviewer talk.

 • URGENT: Please consider helping get the huge backlog down to a manageable number of pages as soon as possible.
 • Be nice to new users - they are often not aware of doing anything wrong.
 • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted - be formal and polite in your approach to them too, even if they are not.
 • Don't review a page if you are not sure what to do. Just leave it for another reviewer.
 • Remember that quality is quintessential to good patrolling. Take your time to patrol each article, there is no rush. Use the message feature and offer basic advice.

The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In case of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, the right can be revoked at any time by an administrator. Alex ShihTalk 04:12, 5 August 2017 (UTC)

File:Kent State athletic logo.svg

The newer version you uploaded is missing some of the small marks on the face, particularly the yellow mark by the mouth, the yellow crescent shape that overlaps the white crescent, and the eyebrow lines. I noticed since that was why I had to upload multiple versions (kept seeing parts I missed), when I extracted it from the Brand Guide. Not sure why my most recent upload was larger because it shows up on my computer as 35.1kb, but uploaded as 78kb. Either way seems plenty small for the copyright issue, though. --JonRidinger (talk) 01:27, 15 August 2017 (UTC)

Awesome...thanks! I've seen some of the sport-specific versions on the website and social media, but they're so far only in PNG format. --JonRidinger (talk) 01:51, 15 August 2017 (UTC)
(edit conflict) @JonRidinger: Thanks, I believe I've got those issues fixed... As for your file size (KBs), you had an extra copy way up top in the corner out of the box (figured it out when I combined paths and noticed the box was way larger than it should be!) You'll see it if you zoom out in your program. The size (h×w) was fine for non-free content, I was just reducing the KBs by removing unnecessary coding. Hello, Corkythehornetfan. An RFC has been opened that may be of interest to you. It can be found by the article's name in this list and the actual discussion can be found on Template talk:Infobox university, in case you wish to participate. Thank you for your contributions. @Eden5: Thanks. I saw you withdrew it. Could I ask you to reopen it? We have a couple of users who think it needs to be at 150 throughout the whole WikiProject, which I disagree with. It should be set and stone across the whole board, not just an article-by-article basis... Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 22:49, 18 August 2017 (UTC)

Hi,

What does "compliant" mean? Is there some sort of procedure/process? Roberto221 (talk) 08:52, 28 August 2017 (UTC)

@Roberto221: The font color and background color need to be compliant with WP:CONTRAST. A way to check if they are compliant or not is to visit snook.ca and insert the colors. Adding the blue is not compliant per this link. "Are colours compliant?" should generally be yes, and sometimes "sort of...". You want the WCAGs to say "YES", not "NO". Black font is OK per this link. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 16:08, 28 August 2017 (UTC)
Thanks for the info..I never thought about that before. Reminds me of when the NFL had a NFL Color Rush game a couple of years ago with the Bills in all red and the Jets in all green. It was hard to watch if you had red/green color blindness. I'll keep this in mind when I'm editing...

I just wanted to thank you for all the hard work you do in updating each college team's colors at Module:College color/data. You definitely make my life way easier. Thanks for all your efforts. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 21:50, 2 September 2017 (UTC)

Thanks, Charlesaaronthompson. As one of the original editors of the module, it's one of my highest priorities on Wikipedia. We've improved it tremendously over the last two and a half years. Thanks for your help, as well. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 15:43, 6 September 2017 (UTC)

RFC

In all honesty, I withdrew because I don't have time to watch over it. If you could watch it, you have my blessing to undo my withdrawal. I personally don't like when logos are shrunk to 150px because they look way too small (especially for certain logos [4]). However, some users claim that anything more than 150px is "grossly promotional" (don't ask me why, I have no clue). Thanks, Eden5 (talk) 03:15, 6 September 2017 (UTC)

Neutrality of Notre Dame Seal RfC

I strongly recommend you refactor the Notre Dame Seal RfC so it's more neutral. Phrases like "cost way too much money to make and there is no way the university will spend money to update them" are speculative and phrases like "They [sic] other user has been trying to take ownership of the university article" is not only off-topic but it's also subjective. Shorter is usually better and you should present all of the major sides of the issue as strongly as possible. If you have trouble doing that, please ask others for help! ElKevbo (talk) 00:29, 11 September 2017 (UTC)

@ElKevbo: Thanks for your help. I've removed some things, which hopefully makes it more neutral. I did leave some things in (updating branding takes time and money), and that the other is a ND student/alum as these are facts and it needs to be mentioned in case there is a non-neutral point of view (you and I both know we are all a little bias towards our schools). I also believe I've showed a strong both sides strongly as there are equal amount of photos linked, I've shown two or three brand guidelines, etc. If you see something else, please let me know. Thanks, Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 00:56, 11 September 2017 (UTC)
Would you mind commenting on which one you prefer, as well. Thanks, Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 00:57, 11 September 2017 (UTC)

Hey! Just wanted to let you know that the logo you uploaded is incorrect in two ways.

One: The silver hex code for Raiders silver is #bcc4c9. The RGB code is 203,6,79.

Two: You left out the white part of the chin strap. Here's a lo-res version of the correct image. http://prod.static.raiders.clubs.nfl.com/assets/img/footer14.png

I've got a huge (10Kx10K) image of the logo in the PNG format. Just not very competent at how to legally use images here. So, if you want it, I'll be glad to send it to you.

Just a heads up.

GeorgeC (talk) 00:16, 12 September 2017 (UTC)

@GeorgeC: Thanks! I didn't catch that when I edited it... should be fixed now. I do have a question for you... where did you retrieve the hex code for silver? Per NFLCommunications.com (you'll have to be approved for an account, but it has all of the brand guides for the teams as well as logo downloads), the hex code is   #A5ACAF (PMS 8180 C, RGB 166,174,176)... Thanks, Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 01:06, 12 September 2017 (UTC)
You're welcome. I got it from the Raiders website. The silver they use in the logo at the top of the page is much arker than the helmets. Scroll down to the bottom and there's a small logo, but you can get a silver that looks real close to the helmet silver. So, that's what I'm using. A lot of the teams' websites are a bit all over the place regarding proper color. Including my Browns, who seem to be the biggest offender. GeorgeC (talk) 01:11, 12 September 2017 (UTC)
Thanks. Websites have been known to use slightly different colors from their brand guides due to the programs used by a third-party. I work on articles mainly in the NCAA Division I and II, and Division I schools do this a lot. They'll use one color in the brand guide and use another on their website due to a organization they contract with. I suspect the NFL is the same way. Hope that helps! Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 01:38, 12 September 2017 (UTC)

The seal

Hey Corkythehornetfan, just wanted to leave you a quick message. I think there has been unnecessary tension. My point is that, as you may have gathered by now, there is extreme diversity on how the seal is represented. Even on the pics we both linked, you may have noticed how the seal is depicted differently every time. Often with some elements lacking or different color variation.

 • The only thing that I was trying to point out is that the black and white version is not used (except on paper and at commencement) and it only used in official settings. It is also not representative at all, since (a) colored version is used more often. (I said "a" cause, again, coloring is often different, but it is always some combination of blue and gold).

Lastly, regarding ownership of content. I am not here to dictate anything or have it my way or anything. I simply spend my time improving the wiki page of my alma mater and its WikiProject. I am sure you can relate. You yourself (with your alma mater in your username) are doing the same, and I greatly respect it and admire it. I do not believe that just because we have a connection to the schools, we are trying to own content. I believe that Wikipedia thrives on people working on what they are passionate about. Of course, peer review is very important, and I welcome your input and that of any other user. I just wanted to clear my position, express my respect for your work and keep editing a friendly, useful and collaborative enterprise. I do not wish in anyway for misunderstandings or tensions to arise. Best, Eccekevin (talk) 03:34, 12 September 2017 (UTC)

I haven't called you any names

Dude, I haven't called you any names. How am I supposed to work with you when you delete my message on your talk page? And the 'consensus' for the Trump page seems to change every time I go to edit it. I removed the acting positions MONTHS ago, under the logic that it should only include political appointments of Donald Trump, period. I come back, and someone decided to add them BACK with the new gold color scheme. So I go through the trouble of adding most of the acting positions back into the article, and come to find out from you the consensus has changed ONCE again, well I was unaware of this consensus. And no, you didn't fix anything, there is still an extra table on the END of the larger table. Format is still broken. Blakebs (talk) 08:13 PM CST

"For a so-called professional editor, you sure do break the formatting here a LOT". Have you ever considered that we are all humans and not perfect? It's been fixed. 01:24, 13 September 2017 (UTC)

She was sworn in on the 15th, however, she still had to present her credentials to NATO like the other Ambassadors do to their country. She didn't officially start until the 28th. See this tweet from the official US NATO Twitter account. We use the official day they start after credentials were presented. I'd recommend mentioning she was sworn in on the 15th in the article somewhere. Hope that helps! Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 04:12, 13 September 2017 (UTC)

Hey, no worries. I'm wrong all the time; I just wanna get less wrong. With images I'm much more familiar with commons, where things are simpler in some ways, and there's no fair use. TJWtalk 22:57, 13 September 2017 (UTC)
I try and stay away from there unless I know for sure something is in the PD! Also, if you're updating a non-free logo like this one, just upload it at the current one and have the old version deleted. It's a much easier process that way! Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 04:17, 14 September 2017 (UTC)
You mean overwrite the current one? TJWtalk 21:30, 14 September 2017 (UTC)

How do I delete a previous SVG file

Hi @Corkythehornetfan: I uploaded this file [Stellenbosch_Monarchs.svg], but the team has changed their name and logo to Stellenbosch Kings in the meantime. Can you please delete this logo for me or advise how to? Much appreciated. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Stellenbosch_Monarchs.svg (Vectorebus (talk) 17:58, 14 September 2017 (UTC))

Davidson update

Yeah, I'm still doing the teams lists and editing the ledes to go with... (Thanx for catching my color miss there...) It's college soccer season, though, so that's what I've been mostly working on... I was gonna get into the A-10, then I saw that the MAC hadn't been done yet, so I switched my plan, since my Cougars (SIUE) are now MAC associates... I'll get back to the A-10 if someone else doesn't do it first... Almost sent you a note the other day when I went to jump on a mindless editor who really messed up a page and found that you had just tried to straighten him out for something similar... GWFrog (talk) 22:26, 14 September 2017 (UTC)

@GWFrog: I do them, but only when I come across them (they're so time consuming!). Don't forget to add

{| class="wikitable" style="float:right; clear:right; margin:0 0 1em 1em;"

to the box like we agreed to and keep in mind of the caps... "Cross Country" should be "Cross country" and goes for other sports as well. It helps with the layout in the article and doesn't cover text. There are a few conferences I think that still need it... I just haven't gotten around to it. Who was the editor? There have been several... Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 23:21, 14 September 2017 (UTC)
I tend to do them kinda fast and dirty, which is how I end up with stuff like "Cross Country" that I copied & pasted from the old... If I don't catch it on review, there's always someone like you to clean up after me...LOL...GWFrog (talk) 01:26, 15 September 2017 (UTC)

Images

The layout for uploading pictures is very confusing on Commons. How in the WORLD does one determine if something qualifies for fair use? Likewise how do you determine the correct license? There's like 10 different licenses to choose from. I looked into to it, and from what I can tell 'labeled for reuse' does qualify as fair use. - Blakebs (talk) 05:57PM CST

@Blakebs: Commons is for photos in the public domain, not fair-use images. If you upload a picture from Flickr, the licensing section you'll need to use is the one that says "The copyright holder published their photo or video on Flickr with the right license". Under that section, there are icons that will match the ones on Flickr under the date in the right corner of the images. For examples of what you can and cannot upload, see Commons:Flickr files which has a chart that shows you what licenses are O.K. and not O.K. "Labeled for reuse" does not give us permission to upload it on Commons or Wikipedia. They need to specify the license, which Flickr does. Hope that helps! Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 23:12, 14 September 2017 (UTC)
P.S. please check your Commons talk page. I suggested you go back through your uploads, and change the licenses plus add the direct link to the image. Just typing 'defense.gov (labeled for re-use)' does not satisfy Commons guidelines. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 23:23, 14 September 2017 (UTC)

Confirmation process timeline

Hi Corkythehornetfan if you can please try to make the Confirmation process timeline from the Political appointments by Donald Trump look like this one https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cabinet_of_Donald_Trump#Confirmation_process_timeline and remove the old one and replace it with the new one. If you can that will be great.

And James E. Trainor III of Texas to be a Commissioner of the Federal Election Commission for the remainder of a 6-year term expiring April 30, 2021 and he is not on the page yet if you can add the office and the name only that will be great https://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2017/09/12/president-donald-j-trump-announces-intent-nominate-personnel-key — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.36.68.29 (talk) 03:53, 15 September 2017 (UTC)

idea

Hi Corkythehornetfan I have an Idea for the Confirmation process timeline and the Candidates we should make a cut off page and call it Confirmation process timeline and the Candidates of Donald Trump. and For the Homeland Sec on the Political appointments by Donald Trump If you can make a new Section saying to see Possible candidates for Secretary of Homeland Security go to this page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Formation_of_Donald_Trump%27s_Cabinet#Secretary_of_Homeland_Security or something like that. If you know what I am saying. Some of Us know the Attorney General might be next and sence we all ready have this page to add pics on we should use it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.36.68.29 (talk) 23:41, 15 September 2017 (UTC)

Personally, I've never been a fan of the confirmation timelines, however, I'd ask for others' opinions at Talk:Political appointments by Donald Trump. I wouldn't be opposed if you made a good case as to why we should have one. As for the candidates, we shouldn't even be listing "possible candidates" as it is just speculation which is against Wikipedia guidelines. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 01:09, 16 September 2017 (UTC)
For the Sec. of DHS, all we would need to do is update the current section at the formation of the cabinet page for the position. I'm not sure how, but we'd need to change Kelly's color and make note he left for Chief of Staff. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 01:12, 16 September 2017 (UTC)

I have an Idea to how we can save space. Now for the Department of Defense and Department of Homeland Security we should make a page called Military appointments by Donald Trump. Becuse the President can make Military appointments https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Department_of_Defense https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Department_of_Homeland_Security

And I think we should make a page called Ambassador appointments by Donald Trump so we can add the CFO's to that one becuse this one here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ambassadors_of_the_United_States is all the Ambassadors and If we all come togaver to make another page so we can add the CFO's too that will be great. I have a question for you on this one. If you were a CFO and gets there picture taken and Users on Wikipedia don't put you on the Page with all of the other ambassaders How would that make you fell? It would make me sad. Or mad. Now back to the Military here are some more jobs the President can appoint.

If we could get this done that will be so great if we can work on this togaver quitly and then show the other Users maybe some of them can help and like it so are you with me on this or not? Afther this we will Make Wikipedia Great Again! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.36.68.29 (talk) 19:06, 16 September 2017 (UTC)

Honestly, more users' input will be needed. In my opinion, we don't need 100 different pages of who Trump has appointed. I would strongly recommend requesting for comments on that page. Consensus already shows they're not in favor of having CFOs on this page, which makes believe they won't favor them on a separate page either. Not every government official needs to have their picture on Wikipedia nor do they need to have an article. If you do, make sure your spelling is correct sometimes your comments are hard to read due to spelling and grammar issues. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 23:51, 16 September 2017 (UTC)

NCAA colors

Corky, I'm looking at Module:College color/data. The color for NCAA Division II is different from the color for NCAA Division I aka National Collegiate Athletic Association aka NCAA Division III. Should that be so? I thought the NCAA used the same blue logo for everything. Jweiss11 (talk) 23:49, 19 September 2017 (UTC)

@Jweiss11: One would think that they use the same colors, but unfortunately they don't. Both use PMS 300, but have different hex codes. I requested an account at the NCAA Digital Library and when accessed, the brand guides each show different then the current hex codes we've placed at the Module. The Digital Library has an extended version of this brand guide that lists the hex code  #0079C2  (as well as the separate DII championship guidelines, and the DI guidelines show  #005EB8 . Army West Point Black Knights

I've posted three links on the talk pages of both the Army Navy Game page and the team page. Army West Point is not only official branding but the common usage. The CBS Sports page, NCAA page and Patriot League page all refer to it this way (in addition to the team's own page). ESPN is an outlier. I'd be happy to provide more examples but the page is incorrect as it stands. 3665047379b (talk) 04:40, 28 September 2017 (UTC)

Tenth Circuit revert

Just so I understand: You're saying the format in which every appointing President is listed/linked regarding a federal court's composition violates Wikipedia policy due to overlinking, correct? Does that then mean that all United States federal court pages have to be reformatted, i.e. the Supreme Court, 13 appellate courts, 94 district courts, absent any Article IV or Article I court? Why not just leave it as is to maintain consistency? Snickers2686 (talk) 04:42, 28 September 2017 (UTC)

They should only be linked once per WP:OVERLINK. Hopefully others will catch on and continue to fix the problem – something that should never have started in the first place. Not every article needs to be like the other. Corky Buzz by the Hornet's Nest 18:20, 28 September 2017 (UTC)

Hey Corky,

First off, let me complement you on the great job you do patrolling pages. A note about the University of Pittsburgh seal. There is a an academic seal, which is a the top of the infobox, and is reserved for official and academic functions. There is also a logo seal, which the university replaced in the spring and has now switched back to. The logo seal has simplified and exaggerated features, including an exaggerated "Pittsburgh", and simplified and stylized crest and laurels, and different proportions. The logo seal is used by the university in all branding: media, print, merchandise, but not in academic or official capacities despite its similarity to the academic seal. The logo seal would be considered the primary university logo. It is almost always seen either by itself, or accompanying world marks. The word marks are almost never seen by themselves. In fact, I can't think of an instance of their use by themselves in the wild. In order to accurately represent how the university presents or brands itself through the use of identifying marks, the word marks should be accompanied by the simplified seal. Whether that is with the formal or informal word marks doesn't much matter to me, but "Pitt" is certainly the more popular presentation among students, alumni, and affiliates, and likely more instructive to a naive reader in how prominent its usage is (as opposed to repeating the full title of the university). This would be similar to the University of Pennsylvania, an article which doesn't employ its academic seal at all, but makes double use of the elements of the Penn shield including a repeated form as the logo with accompanying informal word mark "Penn" in its infobox. Similar double usage of marks, or repeated elements of marks, is seen in other schools' infoboxes: Princeton, Harvard, Cambridge, Glasgow, Aukland, Liverpool, Sheffield, Maryland, Chicago, Wash U...just to survey a few. Other school articles, such as Texas A&M, Amsterdam, and Bristol only utilize the branding that is most identified with the school. Precedent is well established for presenting schools in their infobox in a way that most accurately reflects the university own self-presentation, which is what I'm seeking to provide with the University of Pittsburgh article. Kind regards, CrazyPaco (talk) 23:59, 28 September 2017 (UTC)

@Crazypaco: Thanks for the info! I only deal with American universities but those I have edited I've been updating... I've had other users tell me we don't need a seal at both ends of the infobox... which I happen to agree with. The Graphic Standards (which was down for a couple of weeks) shows a wide variety of seals, but after your explanation above and a careful review of the Graphic Standards, I found that I was in the wrong. I have reverted my edit on the seal. However, the academic seal and logo seal look too similar and I am opposed to using it in the bottom of the infobox. The formal wordmark is what the standard is for Wikipedia if the school uses a seal (academic or logo) and I am in favor of using that. I will be glad to use the informal logo if a consensus is reached. As a side note, Texas A&M requested their seal be taken down from Wikipedia, so the consensus was to use the current format. The others just need updated. Thanks for bringing this to my attention! Corky Buzz by the Hornet's Nest 02:35, 29 September 2017 (UTC)
I am opposed to having a word mark without the seal logo. It is not representative of how the school presents itself. Neither is it truly duplicate nor is there a lack of precedent. An opinion on aesthetics should not trump accurate representation or presentation of knowledge. CrazyPaco (talk) 04:44, 29 September 2017 (UTC)
We aren't here to represent the schools, either. Just because they present themselves one way, doesn't mean we have to do exactly what they're doing. We can either get a consensus from a group of editors or we can just remove the logo altogether and just leave the seal in the infobox. That's how I see it. Copyright of images by US state governments (from Commons)

This is re: the file you just uploaded to Commons, but leaving a message here since this is both of our primary Wiki's: images by state government institutions are not always public domain. The State of North Carolina (and thus the University of North Carolina and its constituent institutions) retains copyright for works created. The University of North Carolina has in the past been willing to release the headshots under a compatible license for Commons in the past, (see File:Official Photo of Margaret Spellings.jpg), but we deleted that image every time it was uploaded until they posted a statement of free license on their webpage. TonyBallioni (talk) 16:50, 4 October 2017 (UTC)

Thanks for the explanation the university photos. I'm aware of the copyright laws, but assumed that their portraits were all under CC. Corky Buzz by the Hornet's Nest 17:05, 4 October 2017 (UTC)
Nope. They're all copyright with all rights reserved except for the Spellings headshot. You might have luck emailing them asking them to put a disclaimer on their website releasing all official images of their past presidents under CC-BY-SA 3.0 like they did for Spellings, but they also might not: they don't have a motivation to release past copyrighted images since they aren't trying to promote the image of people they fired (in the case of Ross) or who are no longer with them. TonyBallioni (talk) 17:09, 4 October 2017 (UTC)
TonyBallioni Thanks! If I think about it, I might email them. Have they been very cooperative in the past or did we just bug them enough that they put it on their website ? If they're not really cooperative, I probably won't email them simply because I don't have enough interest in the subject. Corky Buzz by the Hornet's Nest 20:42, 4 October 2017 (UTC)
They wanted Spellings image updated (I got the impression she personally was involved, but who knows.) We were the ones that kept deleting it for copyvio reasons. One of the few times COI editing actually improved an article :) Again, mileage may vary since Ross didn't exactly leave on the best of terms. TonyBallioni (talk) 20:45, 4 October 2017 (UTC)

I specified the correct license, Sharealike 2.0, which specifies I'm FREE to share it. I've done everything right, yet you CONTINUE to revert the image. If this license is unusable, then why is it available as an option on wikicommons? --Blakebs (talk) 01:02, 5 October 2017 (UTC)

It is NOT free to share. I've told you this NUMEROUS times. As I've said before, per Commons:Flickr files, the file cannot be uploaded. If a file on Flickr has like the one you've uploaded, it is still copyrighted because they want compensated, hence the dollar sign ($). It is not for commercial use, which is what it'd be used for here. Daniel Boone Home

Hey Corkey, Lindenwood University sold the Daniel Boone State Historic Site over a year ago. Do you really want to almost 20% of the lead paragraph to something not directly affiliated with the University? Seems like a poor use of space to me. As per WP:MOS the lead should summarize the article not introduce unique information for the first and last time. Tangentially, if you revert another users edit please don't use the minor edit function. Grey Wanderer (talk) 22:01, 10 October 2017 (UTC)

@Grey Wanderer: then move it to another section, but I think it still belongs in the article. Also, I reverted using Twinkle (as seen in my edit summary) so it's a Twinkle issue as it can't be changed in preferences (I looked). Corky Buzz by the Hornet's Nest 22:15, 10 October 2017 (UTC)
Already done! If that's the case then you probably shouldn't use Twinkle for that kind of edit, though I use Twinkle and I've never had that problem. Grey Wanderer (talk) 22:16, 10 October 2017 (UTC)
In fact Wikipedia:Twinkle specifically calls that kind of editing abuse: "Never forget that one takes full responsibility for any action performed using Twinkle. One must understand Wikipedia policies and use this tool within these policies or risk having one's account blocked. Anti-vandalism tools, such as Twinkle, Huggle, and rollback, should not be used to undo good-faith changes unless an appropriate edit summary is used."

University of Florida Seal

Hey Corkey, I believe you converted my original upload of a black and white version the University of Florida seal from a png (since automatically deleted as an orphaned file) to an svg file, and replaced my original image in University of Florida article with the converted image on May 4, 2017. The process seems to have added the wrong coloration. The seal does not include an orange field with white accents. I have uploaded a new version of the seal (although not an svg file, but a gif) that is the same file that is used on the university's Primary Logos webpage. This new file is the official and correct seal for the university. I have updated the the image on the University of Florida article. I hope this conforms with the requirements. CAFLNHDC (talk) 21:29, 16 October 2017 (UTC)

I've fixed it and reverted back to the SVG image. Personally, I don't see anything wrong with using the school colors (w/the exception of contrast issues), as the schools don't dictate how were use things here. Corky Buzz by the Hornet's Nest 22:05, 16 October 2017 (UTC)

Cleveland Cavaliers Logo.svg

I understand now. I would like to offer one suggestion though: Can the wordmark of the team/franchise be uploaded into the infobox as well as the logo? In other words can we have the two images in he infobox with one on top of the other? Banan14kab (talk) 03:36, 23 October 2017 (UTC)

@Banan14kab: I don't think WP:WikiProject National Basketball Association does that in their infoboxes. I'm not too familiar with with the NBA-related articles and all that they do, so I would recommend going to WT:WikiProject National Basketball Association and asking their members (you could also ask Sabbatino or Bagumba who do a lot with that WikiProject). Inserting the version of the logo you've uploaded as a 2nd logo in the article would more than likely violate WP:NFCC#8, as well. Corky Buzz by the Hornet's Nest 03:46, 23 October 2017 (UTC)

Regarding comment revert

I believe I understand Wikipedia's policy on edit warring and the need to avoid it. However, in a recent comment you edited on the Cleveland Cavaliers article, I'm a bit confused about how this policy is enforced. I made an edit on this article, and in addition I made an article The Talk page for that edit be discussed. Another editor came and reverted my edit without discussing the issue and insisted I had to discuss it for making the edit. I had of course at that point already begin discussing it with my creation of the talk page for the edit. The confusion here is why the second editors revert of my edit is respected as the version that should remain, despite them failing to discuss the issue and instead attacking me on the discussion page. Thank you. Somethoughtsaboutthings (talk) 00:56, 28 October 2017 (UTC)

@Somethoughtsaboutthings: I reverted to the version in the article before you guys started to edit war. Per Wikipedia:Bold, revert, discuss, you were bold and made the edit, which Sabbatino reverted your edit. Therefore, before you can revert again, you need to have a discussion about the edits. This means leaving it alone until a consensus can be made. Right now, there isn't a consensus, so you need to avoid reverting until one is obtained. Corky Buzz by the Hornet's Nest 01:09, 28 October 2017 (UTC)
There is no edit to revert again so I'm not sure what you mean by that. After you left the comments regarding my edit I came here to discuss the issue with you. There's certainly no need for any threats of editing again, I'm obviously here in good faith. What do Wikipedia guidelines say about when editors try to discuss issues and the person who is against the edits is not discussing it in good faith? The user who's against my edits has done nothing but construct a straw man argument that no one provided, and completely disregard every word I types in the discussion thread regarding my reasoning behind my edits. Somethoughtsaboutthings (talk) 01:15, 28 October 2017 (UTC)
What I meant was don't revert any further on the issue you're dealing with at Cavaliers article. They are trying to discuss it with you... but they can't at the moment per their comments (which gives you no right at all to just keep reverting), and that they're assuming good faith. If you think they're acting in bad faith, take it to an administratior (see here). I've had my own issues with the other party involved at the article, so I have no further comments regarding them. Corky Buzz by the Hornet's Nest 01:35, 28 October 2017 (UTC)
I understand that we're supposed to assume good faith when having discussion on Wikipedia, but I feel it's absurd to say that they were trying to discuss with me when they say things like I'm simply editing to my taste and not for any appropriate reason despite having clearly laid out my reasons in the discussion page and having another user agree with them. In addition, they're bringing up edits I did six months ago to suggest I'm a problematic editor, despite the edits and revert in question actually resulting in the article having some very low quality writing removed from the lead. In fact, the user has not yet once touched upon the issue of the verbosity in the lead which is the header of the discussion. I digress, thank you very much for the link and thank you very much for your time.Somethoughtsaboutthings (talk) 01:42, 28 October 2017 (UTC)
I got to add too, man, I feel like it's patronizing for you to tell me I don't have the right to keep reverting. I think it's already quite well established that I don't have the right to keep reverting, I never suggested I should and I never asked for the right to do so. The only confusion I had was why their original user's allowed to revert my edit without any discussion but it's problematic if I revert their edit, which I asked and explained here. This experience for me, will just be another example of the bureaucracy that is Wikipedia, and another opportunity for me to learn how to work in the system.Somethoughtsaboutthings (talk) 01:59, 28 October 2017 (UTC)

Hi, Corky. Sport specific logos are not allowed by Carleton's branding guide. Is that enough to allow its use on the football article? - Mnnlaxer | talk | stalk 05:55, 6 November 2017 (UTC)

Whoops, I can't read the small print. I'll probably have to request the football specific one. Do they need to upload themselves or can I get it by email and do it myself - or yourself :) - Mnnlaxer | talk | stalk 05:57, 6 November 2017 (UTC)
@Mnnlaxer: No, primary logos that are non-free cannot be used in the subject's sub articles per WP:NFCC (I can send you direct links to policies and discussions on Monday when I'm on my computer) regardless of whether or not there is a public domain image available. I will upload the "wordmark" on Monday as that looks to be in the Public Domain. If no brand guide exists (for future references), you can email the athletics dept. and they can send one to you for you to upload (I've done this numerous times asking for color codes and logos). BTW - thanks for linking the brand guide, I spent 20 minutes trying to find the darn thing and gave up! Hope that helps, Corky Buzz by the Hornet's Nest 06:32, 6 November 2017 (UTC)

What was the source of the the maroon and gold version that was posted? https://brandguide.asu.edu/identity-standards/logos-and-wordmarks/university-seal — Preceding unsigned comment added by 149.169.81.250 (talk) 23:34, 9 November 2017 (UTC)

There was no source for the colorized version. The brand guide is currently blocked to the public so I have no proof that this is the case. I have tried to contact the university on multiple occasions, but they have refused to respond. There is no problem with using school colors in the seal, however, I will change the gold to white if that's what you prefer. Corky Buzz by the Hornet's Nest 00:12, 10 November 2017 (UTC)

People who have either resigned or been fired in the Trump admin

Since these people are listed BELOW as having resigned anyway, should they continue to be listed on the main department tables? We could clear up a LOT of space in the Executive Office of the President. - User:Blakebs (talk) 9:48PM, November 12, 2017 (CST)

@Blakebs: I'd certainly favor it, but I think other opinions would be needed at the article's talk page before me make such a move. Corky Buzz by the Hornet's Nest 04:21, 13 November 2017 (UTC)

White House Staff

Hi Corkythehornetfan can you please Help me becuse The White House Staff did not Start on the 20th they all started on the 21st if you can please help me tell everyone elce and Help me tell everyone that Sifakis is still at the White House Becuse there is a untrue story about him not being there. and the White House Did not put something out on him. Thank you. Only Trump And Pence started on the 20th. Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.36.68.29 (talk) 01:36, 14 November 2017 (UTC)

What's your source for the staff starting on the 21st? Before we can go making such a claim, we have to have reliable sources to back it up. Also, I know there was a rumor about Sifakis but I'm afraid it may be true. See his Linkedin profile – it says "Former Assistant to the President of the United States and Director of the Office of Public Liaison at the White House". Corky Buzz by the Hornet's Nest 01:44, 14 November 2017 (UTC)

The source is on the talk page Trump and Pence Started on the 20th not the staff remember when Spicer came out the next day saying stuff to the press. And they had the balls and the parade on the 20th and they put the video on youtube on the 22nd. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8TS98E_2JOc — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.36.68.29 (talk) 02:06, 14 November 2017 (UTC)

Hello Corkythehornetfan, Lee Francis Cissna now has an official photo: [5] If you would upload it, I would appreciate it.

Also, I'm anticipating that the DoD and DoJ will upload official photos of John Gibson and Steven Engel. You didn't to object to me creating Appointees who have resigned from the Trump administration

Obviously this isn't the big problem you've made it out to be at the Political appointments by Trump article. You told me you were in favor of removing those who resigned or no longer work within the executive office and I took that suggestion to heart, and I opted to LEAVE the Secretaries there like you said. You didn't seem to object to me creating Appointees who have resigned from the Trump administration or moving several people like Reince to it, and now when I try to add to that article, you object. I thought this was settled, but apparently not. Blakebs (Blakebs (talk) 22:17, 24 November 2017 (UTC)

I moved Priebus, Gorka, Schiller and several others and you didn't say a word. Didn't suggest my article be deleted and made no effort to put any of them back on the main article. And none of these 'editors' you mentioned have said a word to me about any of this. Blakebs (talk) 22:24, 24 November 2017 (UTC)

Appointees who have resigned from the Trump administration is already there, whats the point to leave Christie and Bondi on the main article? Blakebs (talk) 22:29, 24 November 2017 (UTC)

@Blakebs: I changed my mind shortly after they were created and decided it wasn't a good idea. "...you didn't say a word" and "...none of these 'editors' you mentioned have said a word to me about any of this" – How about you see the talk page for the article - specifically the third to last section AND the section you created. I mentioned to stop the further page moves until a full out discussion has taken place, but obviously you haven't bothered to check that page. After I commented there, another user created to RFCs for those newly created pages, so you can talk there. One person agreeing with you is not enough support and you need to let others weigh in before making such a large change. Before you start BSing on my talk page, make sure you have ALL of the facts. State Department appointment

Hello Corkythehornetfan, I just saw that the position of Counselor of the United States Department of State was filled by the Trump Administration.[8] This appears to be a political appointment not requiring Senate confirmation. Am I correct? I am busy with several other things today, so I don't want to devote too much time on this. Thanks. --1990'sguy (talk) 19:53, 27 November 2017 (UTC)

@1990'sguy: You're correct – no Senate confirmation is needed... it's just a political appointment. Here is more information on the position. Corky Buzz by the Hornet's Nest 20:29, 27 November 2017 (UTC)
Very interesting: just when I ask you about this appointment, Maliz Beams leaves.[9] While I want the article to be deleted, I guess I will add this appointment to the former appointments article. --1990'sguy (talk) 23:53, 28 November 2017 (UTC)

Thanks.

Thanks for the reverts. They left a message on the article talkpage but as you can see from the history, they tried and tried and tried to add that it was "one of the best universities" and now they're trying to only add the rankings where it's in the top 10/15. I think that's very misleading and they seem to have a minor obsession with it. (You may want to read Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Universities#Shall we ban the U.S. News & World Report? by the way.) I think the lede right now is the most comprehensive and least POV-pushing, but I don't have the patience to get into a long talkpage argument (I think that may be what they want). Thank you so much for your patience and common sense!Zigzig20s (talk) 23:17, 2 December 2017 (UTC)

They keep adding self-published content to the lede. They don't seem to understand how ledes work, or why we strongly discourage self-published content. This is exhausting.Zigzig20s (talk) 05:26, 3 December 2017 (UTC)
Thanks for the message. I think you both need to quit reverting each other discuss it. Though I don't think he'll discuss any further, I'd recommend taking it to an admin. Corky Buzz by the Hornet's Nest 05:40, 3 December 2017 (UTC)
I think that's what they want and that's exactly what I'm trying to avoid. I'll take a breather from that article for a few days, but someone needs to teach them how ledes work; they're there to summarize referenced content from entire articles, not to add self-published advertising... If they were to add the same content in the body of the text with reliable third-party sources, there would be no problem.Zigzig20s (talk) 05:48, 3 December 2017 (UTC)
They've just restored the content to the lede, but actually I did leave a note on their talkpage about self-published content last month: User talk:Dallascowboysftw#reliable sources. I hope this gets resolved while I'm working on other articles in the next few days...Zigzig20s (talk) 06:05, 3 December 2017 (UTC)
There appears to be consensus to remove the last sentence in the third paragraph of the lede. Maybe it could be moved to "profile" instead. I believe we have the same issue in the lede of Northwestern University, in case you want to help.Zigzig20s (talk) 04:34, 7 December 2017 (UTC)
Thanks, I agree with ElKevbo. Corky Buzz by the Hornet's Nest 18:54, 7 December 2017 (UTC)
Would you like to trim it from both ledes please?Zigzig20s (talk) 18:56, 7 December 2017 (UTC)
What other articles are you talking about? No other articles were mentioned in that section aside from the one's that don't include them. I removed it from the lede at Northwestern... Corky Buzz by the Hornet's Nest 19:11, 7 December 2017 (UTC)

Copyright question

Hi Corky,

Basically, is any printed photo before 1923 not subject to copyright? I have access to Carleton's yearbooks now, and would like to screenshot photos from a 1921 yearbook. Even if there are issues with that, is it okay to do it for infobox photos for deceased people? Any restrictions on Commons vs. Wikipedia uploads? Thanks. - Mnnlaxer | talk | stalk 16:30, 21 December 2017 (UTC)

@Mnnlaxer: Yes, that is my understanding per Wikipedia:File copyright tags/Public domain#General and Commons:PD files#Determination of public domain in US (and copyrights). Pre-1923 photos should be uploaded to Commons under the PD-US tag and it is O.K. to put them in the infoboxes. If you want an expert's opinion who works in that field, you can always ask over at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions or Commons:Village pump/Copyright. Hope that helps. New college football coach navboxes

Corky, can you give Bigredlance a little time to build out some articles before you nominate all those navboxes? He's new to these parts, but I've informed him about the requirements, and he has begun to create articles for the coaches. Jweiss11 (talk) 06:29, 23 December 2017 (UTC)

Quick response

I havent folowed it in a while. At one point, WP:NPA and even WP:IBAN seemed viable. Discussions should be closed when there is nothing left to discuss; it should not be forced because of the misbehavior of one or two. Have a great new year.—Bagumba (talk) 10:26, 30 December 2017 (UTC)

Thanks for the response, I agree on the links you listed. There is one section that isn't going anywhere and should probably be closed. The other sections – I hope – are heading towards the right direction. I hope you have a happy New Years as well, Bagumba! Corky 10:48, 30 December 2017 (UTC)

UWM

Please stop change the colors of UWM. You don't know the school. Please mind your own business. Philpost (talk) 05:36, 31 December 2017 (UTC)

A standard that's been in place for at least five years at WikiProject Universities is to keep the background one color. There is a gold border to represent the gold. Until you can get a consensus, please do not change. If I have to have an admin protect this template from all editors, including myself, I will. Quit edit warring, and follow WP:BRD. You were bold, I reverted, now you need to discuss at the template's talk page. Corky 05:50, 31 December 2017 (UTC)

It is not a must to use the template. Each school has its own unique characteristics. If the regular template doesn't fit the school good, we need to use other solutions.Philpost (talk) 12:21, 31 December 2017 (UTC)

Your next revert will result in an interaction with an administrator. You are going against a standard the WikiProject has had for quite sometime, not to mention you are now edit warring and as mentioned above, you need to discuss before further reverting. Further reverts will violate WP:3RR. The template is just fine the way it is. Nobody but you, who I suspect works for the school (which is in violation of Wikipedia's guidelines in and of itself), has had a problem with it. The current format best aligns with WP:CONTRAST and no other formats should be used. Again, if you have a problem with the way the navboxes are formatted color-wise, take it to WikiProject Universities. Corky 15:05, 31 December 2017 (UTC)

I was not experimenting with the photo the zoomed in version looks better and that is what most politicians have on their Wikipedia page Metro north (talk) 20:55, 3 January 2018 (UTC)

Most politicians don't use a close-up in their articles. Most, if not all, use their official full version portrait. If you want to experiment with the pictures, use your sandbox instead of constantly reverting. It makes it look like you are experimenting. If you don't want to use your sandbox, use the preview button before saving. Corky 20:59, 3 January 2018 (UTC)

Federicparedes violating guidelines regarding station articles

Based on his recent contributions, he added back the list of current & former DJs on articles of several radio stations. It's time he should be taught WP:LISTPEOPLE & WP:NOTRADIOGUIDE. SUPERASTIG 21:39, 4 January 2018 (UTC)

@Superastig: Thanks, I have left a message and have started to revert some edits. Corky 21:52, 4 January 2018 (UTC)
I was right about this one. Wikipedia is NOT a radio directory to see all the names of personalities (with and without an article on WP); if my mind was correct, only those notable DJs or anchors (with blue links aka with articles on WP) can be listed on it. It seems that this user who return the list just don't know how to use Wikipedia rightly. (To be honest, I never add any personalities on any radio station or broadcasting articles when I edit that is not notable) --Jhenny38 (Starters talk, My contributions) 03:32, 5 January 2018 (UTC)
Yes, only those who have articles (the notable ones) should be listed. Corky 04:38, 5 January 2018 (UTC)

@Corkythehornetfan: I already returned the list to some radio articles but only notable personalities are added. Currently I'm done with DZMB (90.7 Love Radio) and DWET-FM (106.7 Energy FM), but I will add more in a later time like DWTM (Magic 89.9) (with notable programming added) and other radio stations in Metro Manila. I also add a comment on the edit page to users who will add some personalities on any radio station article stating:

<!-- Only personalities with articles on Wikipedia will be added. Personalities without articles will be subject to removal as part of WP:LISTPEOPLE -->

Hope you can contribute in reverting some radio station articles that includes non-notable people while I return the list with only notable people and/or programming added (or articles found on Wikipedia). Thanks. --Jhenny38 (Starters talk, My contributions) 02:14, 9 January 2018 (UTC)

@Jhenny38: I will try when I come across the articles. Right now I'm working on other projects. Thanks for helping on this! Corky 04:14, 9 January 2018 (UTC)

@Corkythehornetfan: (UPDATE) There's a user named Aztegdude who removed my edits relating to notable personalities in radio stations like DZMB, DWTM, DWKY and others; however as I see under the talk page, it may be a sock puppet to Superastig and I do think that it is unfair to do it. I have good faith to do those edits and I only add notable personalities with articles. Can you do something to this user? Thanks --Jhenny38 (Starters talk, My contributions) 01:24, 11 January 2018 (UTC)

I've reverted what I've seen. If you think they're a sock, take it up at WP:SPI. Corky 04:34, 11 January 2018 (UTC)

@Corkythehornetfan: Hi there. I just wanna let you know that "notable personalities" SHOULD NOT BE INCLUDED IN A RADIO STATION article based on WP:NOTRADIOGUIDE. The article should keep itself from putting it. Apologies. --Aztegdude (talk) 07:54, 13 January 2018 (UTC)

No, they can and should be included. WikiProject Television's standard has been to keep the notable ones. If you don't like it, take it up with the WikiProject. Corky 16:14, 13 January 2018 (UTC)

Kirstjen Nielsen

I explained the situation on the talk page. My removal of editorialized content which clearly does not represent a neutral point of view is reasonable. If there is to be an entry on the subject of Nielsen's testimony, then the substance of the testimony should be covered, not just the reaction of Democratic party senators. It is clearly possible to prepare a neutral point of view write up, which does not selectively draw from Nielsen's testimony solely to disparage her, while omitting the critical substance of what she said.

Consistency.

So you just pointed out to me last time to check with the Athletics website first ... because it's the athletics logo.. And now you're sourcing the brand guide after I edited the FAU Owls logo. Perhaps there is something wrong with your consistency here. TjBison (talk) 01:16, 18 January 2018 (UTC)

@TjBison: There is nothing wrong with my consistency. The main reason I said check with the Athletics website first is because of the major error in the North Alabama logo... you should always check to see if there is a brand guide listed on the Athletics website first, then the university. In this case, the athletics website's "Licensing" tab automatically redirects you to the university brand website... making that the correct color. Depending on the programs used by athletics departments, the colors may look different than the brand guide. Corky 01:24, 18 January 2018 (UTC)
Does it show in UNA athletics site what color it uses? because a rasterized image only renders limited amout of spot colors. — Preceding unsigned comment added by TjBison (talkcontribs)
North Alabama doesn't list a guide on the Athletics sheet, but if you use the "Inspect Element Tool" on your computer, it shows the website using  #EEB111 ... or the Graphic Standards uses  #EAAB00 . When I updated the logo, I changed it to what the athletics website shows. Corky 02:07, 18 January 2018 (UTC)
Thats's exactly what I'm saying about the rasterized image(png). I understand that the website itself uses the primary gold color but using the inspect element tool to extract the color from the png file does not qualify as a reliable source. — Preceding unsigned comment added by TjBison (talkcontribs)
You shouldn't be extracting it from the PNG logo anyway. We use either what the brand guides say or what the website uses. Boston College is a good example. When I contacted the university communications office and athletics media relations office, they supplied me with different colors due to the contract the athletics dept. has with Under Armour. It's the same color that is used on their website. UNA uses close to the same color palette as what is in the Graphic Standards pdf, so that is what we use. Corky 02:24, 18 January 2018 (UTC)

Washington Huskies football

Hi, Corkythehornetfan. I am also sharing this message with J1n9. I spent several days updating the Washington Huskies football page. These changes include corrections to grammar, additional context, and more thorough content and citations that provide insights into details otherwise left ambiguous over the course of time. I've done the research, and I know the history. Perhaps you are not aware, I hear a lot of false information regarding Don James. I think it's important to provide facts and balanced information, along with citations that support this man of integrity. I am personally familiar with Don James because my husband coached with him at the University of Washington between 1989 and 1992. In my view, it is important to balance encyclopedic format with context and appropriate citations for reader edification. I previously asked others to please reach out to me if there is disagreement, so we can discuss. It's very disheartening and so frustrating to find all of my work wiped away in a matter of minutes or hours. Please collaborate with me on changes. I am open to reducing or revising citations, I'm happy to work together to improve content. Thank you! Melanyesm (talk) 03:52, 18 January 2018 (UTC)

@Melanyesm: I understand your concerns. Here's the issues I had with the edits: Please read WP:EUPHEMISM for "passed away". You should avoid that term and use "died" instead. As for the citations, there are way too many at the end of the sentences... you are over citing as J1n9 has explained. There comes a point when there are too many, and this is an example. You also had issues with WP:EL by inserting external links into the content. You should avoid those and use them as either a reference or in the "external links" section. Also, when someone reverts your edits, you shouldn't revert them back until after a discussion has take place. I'd suggest opening a discussion on the article's talk page so others can chime in as well. Corky 04:30, 18 January 2018 (UTC)
Thank you, Corky, for your feedback. I completely understand. I'm working with J1n9 to fix the issues. Also, I feel the same way about how so much of my work was reverted or changed after I specifically requested a discussion so we could first collaborate before publishing changes. We are doing that, now. Thanks very much for taking the time to communicate with me. Melanyesm (talk) 04:37, 18 January 2018 (UTC)
no problem. I have reverted my last edit so your changes are still in the article. Though I did remove the external links. I will look more tomorrow when I'm on my computer to see what else can be done. Corky 04:41, 18 January 2018 (UTC)
Thanks you Corkythehornetfan for helping resolve disputes. We all wish to improve these pages. Fortunately the content itself has only slightly changed. Edits I made mainly attempted to meet WP:OVERCITE, WP:LIBEL, WP:IRS, WP:RECENT and WP:NPOV requirements. The log should provide a clear view of why I made edits (every edit I made was accompanied by reasons and comments). I'm confident that we can resolve disputes very soon!
