Haywood Community College

WikiProject renaming

I found Wikipedia:WikiProject Durham NC - which was a WikiProject about one city in North Carolina. I didn't see this as a feasible goal alone, so I proposed changing the scope here: Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Durham_NC#Scope - I stated that I would change the scope myself if I found no activity in seven days. Over seven days passed with no reply, so I altered the project page and reset the scope. With no activity present, I believe there are no objections with my decision. Now, I would like to rename the project page to the "Raleigh-Durham WikiProject" - What do you think?

Picture request

I'm trying to track down and photograph a painting and I could use the help of someone in North Carolina. The paining I'm looking for is Studies of a Baby by Thomas Eakins (See List of works by Thomas Eakins, #100) After much searching, I found out that it is owned by the Duke-Semans Fine Arts Foundation, and is typically stored by the Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University (where it is normally *not* on display). However, the painting was loaned to the Asheville Museum of Art. Assuming the museum allows photography I want someone to go to the museum, photograph it, and upload the picture to commons. (I contacted the museum to find out when it is on display and if photography is allowed, but they haven't gotten back to me. North Carolina Zoo

Hi everybody, I have recently done a significant expansion of the article on the Zoo and I have a couple requests.
1. It is lacking suitable pictures. I put some up but they really are less than ideal. So if you have photos from the zoo or live nearby throw them up. 2. The article is still rated Start-Class. I think that is now inaccurate but I don't think I, as a main editor, am supposed to change things like that.
3. It is pretty pro-zoo. This is probably not an issue but my main source is the zoo website and when I looked around for other sources and found some but none iwth any serious (or even minor) controversies, problems, complaints etc. but it seems to be the general consensus that the zoo is awesome and generally without problems. If I have missed anything notable it should be addressed.
4. And most importantly, I am sure it could use a good clean-up. Since I have been the only author of the expansion, no one has checked my work for spelling, grammar, typos, etc. Also my citations, while I believe they are numerous and reliable, are not done by any standard besides usability. I'm not an expert on how people like citations to look nor am I picky about it so if anyone cares to "fix" them or whatever that would be cool.

Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons

The WikiProject Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons (UBLPs) aims to reduce the number of unreferenced biographical articles to under 30,000 by June 1, primarily by enabling WikiProjects to easily identify UBLP articles in their project's scope. There were over 52,000 unreferenced BLPs in January 2010 and this has been reduced to 32,665 as of May 16. A bot is now running daily to compile a list of all articles that are in both Category:All unreferenced BLPs and have been tagged by a WikiProject. Note that the bot does NOT place unreferenced tags or assign articles to projects - this has been done by others previously - it just compiles a list.

Your Project's list can be found at Wikipedia:WikiProject North Carolina/Unreferenced BLPs. As of May 17 you have approximately 54 articles to be referenced. The list of all other WikiProject UBLPs can be found at Wikipedia:WikiProject Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons/WikiProjects.

Goodrich Corporation

Hi! I posted a new section in Talk:Goodrich Corporation about a possible addition to the article. Because of COI, I cannot make the edit myself. However, I see that the last addition to the talk page was back in 2009, so my comment might not be spotted any time soon! As the article falls within the scope of this project, could someone please review the information (which does include a 3rd party source, although I admit it is probably a report about the press release), and decide whether or not it should appear in the main article? Rockingham County Schools

Hello.

I'm from Arizona, but while going through random articles, I came across Reidsville High School, which was at that time a one-sentence stub (the lead section). Turned out it had had more content once upon a time, but COI'ed edits and copyright concerns kept it at one sentence. I expanded the article using the school's site - and then went on to create the articles for three additional schools in the Rockingham County Schools district. All of the articles still require a good bit of work - I am particularly concerned with the latter article, which has some JPG graphs and tables, some grammar problems, and large amounts of copied block text from what I presume is their website. The high schools' articles could also stand to receive significant expansion, and there's even a good article for someone to tackle: Dalton McMichael (as a springboard, try this), who apparently was a textile executive in Rockingham County.

I would like to finish the work on these articles - I've done a good bit of the work (including a set of basic info on each school), but the district article needs an overhaul and I'm not a resident of North Carolina. Carolina Mudcats

The Carolina Mudcats page links to a Wikipedia article about owner Steve Bryant. Except I'm pretty sure it's not the same Steve Bryant. The one it links to was on Press Your Luck--if you watch that show on YouTube, that football-playing Steve was black, and the Mudcats Steve Bryant is white. US Collaboration reactivated & Portal:United States starting next

Casliber recently posted a suggestion on the talk page for WikiProject United States about getting the US Wikipedians Collaboration page going again in an effort to build up articles for GA through FA class. See Wikipedia:U.S. Wikipedians' notice board/USCOTM. After several days of work from him the page is up and ready for action. A few candidates have already been added for you to vote on or you can submit one using the directions provided. If you are looking for inspiration here is a link to the most commonly viewed articles currently under the scope of Wikiproject United States. There are tons of good articles in the various US related projects as well so feel free to submit any article relating to US topics (not just those under the scope of WPUS). This noticeboard is intended for ‘’’All’’’ editors working on US subjects, not just those under WPUS.

The next item I intend to start updating is Portal:United States if anyone is interested in helping. Again this is not specific to WPUS and any help would be greatly appreciated to maximize visibility of US topics. The foundation has already been established its just a matter of updating the content with some new images, biographies and articles. Adding "Popular pages" to U.S.-related projects

A very interesting tool of the Wikimedia Toolserver is called WikiProject Popular pages lists. These lists are similar to project-related article lists like U. S. article lists used for generating assessment statistics. The Popular pages lists include the rank, total views, average daily views, quality and importance ratings for the listed articles. Here is the full list of projects using popular pages lists. An FAQ also is available at User:Mr.Z-man/Popular pages FAQ.

I recently added links to lists of popular pages as shown below to the U.S. Portal - WikiProjects box and the nominations sections for each of the selected articles boxes.

Because this project was not included, I am bringing up the popular pages tool here. This tool makes it very easy to track three of four balancing dimensions when selecting articles for showcasing at a portal - quality, importance and popularity. Sounds alright to me. I joined wikipedia a while back, but only in the last month or so have signed up for projects. You are right that this project seems to be semi-active. But, what would including it in the projects of WProj US really do? Isn't it already kind of a subset of that project? I'm for it. Sorry this will be kinda long. How it will be supported can depend on what the members of the project want but typically since WPUS is a bigger project with a lot more members, it has a newsletter, a monthly collaboration, multiple bots that run actively through the articles for various things (as can be seen on the members page) with more being setup as we go along. This means that it will be seen by a lot of people in a lot of ways.

The project page with members stay basically as they are with the members able to dictate how things happen, scope of the project, etc. Its not going to be absorbed or dissolved in any way and the scope won't change unless the members want it too. The main change would be that the WikiProject banner would be replaced with the WPUS banner. You can take a look at Category talk:Visitor attractions in South Carolina to see an example.

We have standardized the parameters so that all the supported projects have a wide range of maintenance parameters including (Needs infobox, image, attention, geo coordinates, references, etc.). This also includes the ability to see which articles have comments or to do lists, which ones have been automatically assessed by a bot or have an inherited importance from another project by a bot. It reduces the number of banners cluttering up the talk page of the articles, allows various bots to do their business, etc. All the projects use the same article classes so I would expand the existing capability of the template so that all the content classes are supported for North Carolina as well. Currently the template for North Carolina only recognizes Fa, A, GA, B, C, Stub, Start, FL, List, NA and unknown.

Up till now we have mostly been concentrating on building up the infrastructure of the project, getting the newsletter and collaboration going, recruiting members and things like that. By the end of September though we will be done contacting the US related projects (there are over 200 of them) and will pretty much know who wants to be supported and who doesn't so then we will be able to start focusing our efforts on doing some drives to build up articles, create some new ones, do more recruiting for the supported projects, etc. I hope this helps. --Kumioko (talk) 13:46, 3 September 2011 (UTC)

North Carolina TV templates

I had some ideas for the North Carolina TV templates, but I wanted to discuss them here first. One idea was adding WYCW-DT2 to the CBS North Carolina template since it is broadcasting WSPA-TV. Similarly, WLOS-DT2 could be added to the MyNetworkTV North Carolina template since it is broadcasting WMYA. Both WYCW and WLOS are licensed to Asheville, but WSPA and WMYA are licensed in South Carolina.

Possible Charlotte hoax article

Do we have any Charlotte residents who could check out the article Sephardic Temple Adat David? It is suspected as a hoax because all the information in it was added by users and IPs who have been involved in other undoubted hoax articles, it cites no sources, gives no checkable detail like street number or website, and a quick internet search finds only obvious Wikipedia mirrors. The temple has been mentioned in the Charlotte, North Carolina article only since 22 Feb 2011 when it was added by an IP. If someone could take a quick trip down Caldwell Street, and it's really there, you could hardly miss it. Bob Timberlake (artist)

I'm working up an article (Bob Timberlake (artist)) with the goal of moving the article in main space as soon as it is ready, moving Bob Timberlake to Bob Timberlake (football player) and turning the main page into a disambig. Anyone that can help with the artist, please do. He is a part of Carolina history for sure, and has won lots of awards and such, so I'm quite confident on him passing the notability test here. That sounds like a good plan, to me. This has been needed for a while now. I agree on the notability. Before we just rename the football player article, though, do we need to discuss it on that page as well? I'm not certain of that procedure. And if we do move it, we have to make sure to go through all the "What links here" to correct the dabs. I would suggest moving it to Bob Timberlake (American football), which is more in line with other American football players as opposed to soccer players. I'll see if I can help out some. Update: I have moved the Timberlake article into mainspace (thanks to some great help from JoannaSerah and have moved the other articles as I had planned. Anyone interested, feel free to fix any errors or add content. This long needed article is finally live. Now we need an article on the Galleries (working on getting photos of the Lexington gallery, I drive passed it every day) but the weather has been terrible every time I have a little time. Deletion of articles.

I seem to have a communication problem with a user who wants to merge all the NC barbecue related articles into a single article, and get rid of the old ones. Including Lexington Barbecue Festival, North Carolina Barbecue Society, and has nominated Pigs in the City for deletion. I'm certainly open to any opinions and ideas on these pages. WPNC templates now merged to WPUS - NC

Per discussions above (see this and this), since our WikiProject appears to be semi-active at best, the project has become part of the WikiProject United States. We can still function as an independent project, but we will get much more help and oversight from the WPUS for general clean-up, administration, etc. The {{WikiProject North Carolina}} templates we used became deprecated in favor of {{WikiProject United States|NC=yes|NC-importance=}}. Please make sure to use this tag instead of the old templates or its variations. If we do get enough activity to branch out completely on our own, we can do that. I know there are many here who edit a lot of NC articles, but don't do much anything with the project since it has become semi-active. That is fine. WikiProject University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill was marked as inactive

I just wanted to drop a note that WikiProject University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill was recently marked as inactive. Additionally, there are a few other North Carolina related projects that appear to be inactive as well. Some of these may be worth pulling under WikiProject North Carolina/US. Does anyone have any ideas or comments about this? Here are a couple others:

1. WikiProject East Carolina University - Only has about 65 articles and needs a lot of work. Doesn't appear that it ever gained much momentum. We might be able to just delete this one.

Looks pretty good. It's long enough and, as you state, recently expanded. For DYK, there really should be some fact/"hook" that you think should appear in the DYK section. Is there one point in the article that would appeal to other users as an interesting fact (and is that fact cited)? I've not nominated anything for DYK before, but will look into it as well. I don't know about that. Seems like it would be very one-side/POV promotion to just up his article importance. Really don't think we should unless we raise the importance of all those running for Governor. Since it is not definite yet who all will run, I think we should wait until after the primary election to see who will be the nominees. At the very least, wait until the filing period is over and see who is actually running. That won't be until closer to the end of February. Barbecue in North Carolina

Currently working on it at User:Dennis Brown/Barbecue in North Carolina. As a comparison, you can look to Barbecue in Texas. Hoping to get something worthwhile built within 2 to 3 months that is worthy of going mainspace. Would love to have some input from everyone here. Goal is to cover more than just Eastern vs. Lexington, but to cover the history, influences of other types, etc. A comprehensive article. Anyone wanting to help, grab a mop and come on over. Welcome template proposal

I did not see a template to use for welcoming new project members. It has always been up to individual users to welcome new members with their own text. So I decided to create one to propose to the group. It is in a sandbox at Wikipedia:WikiProject North Carolina/Welcome. See what you think about it and whether you think we need one or not. I think it could be a good tool to help new members out and be easier than individuals typing out their own messages. You can see how it looks substituted in my sandbox: User:JoannaSerah/sandbox We can move it to the correct location if approved. As a second possible proposal, do you think we need an invitation template? NC Gen Web links

Some users were starting to add links to the www.ncgenweb.us website. While this may be a discussion for Wikipedia talk:External links, since this primarily covers North Carolina pages, I decided to start the discussion here. I think originally the edits by SusanCGriffin (talk · contribs) were reverted as being spam and/or violating WP:ELNO/WP:LINKFARM. I started reverting a couple of pages because it appeared that the user was simply edit warring. They referenced no discussions or any guidelines in their re-reverts. Discussion appears to be going on across a few users' talk pages, so I decided to centralize discussion here. Please let us know whether these are appropriate links or not and why. I have emailed the board advisor for the Genweb project to make sure that this is part of the official project. If so, then this isn't as bad as Wiki editors might think. Genweb formed out of volunteers well before Wikipedia existed for the purpose of helping give free information and pointing towards resources for those doing genealogy. They were not/have not been commercial to the best of my knowledge (unlike Rootsweb which was started that way but was bought out and is semi-commercial). They were oriented around many of the same premises that Wikipedia is and exist to help others.

• Keep the links are fine.
  1. The users are new, so the edit-warring was accidental.
  2. The fact that the users are librarians affiliated with the project should add to the link's credibility not detract from it. Do we really want to tell the world's librarians that they should NOT add their areas of expertise to Wikipedia? It seem to me we've been putting forth a lot of effort to encourage librarians.
  3. The links are very specific to each county.
  4. The links point to collections of historical data including marriages, births, deaths, and the work of local historians. This information is very useful, but too detailed for us to simply include within these articles, therefore an external link is most appropriate.
  5. The external links sections of these articles are either short or (prior to this) non-existent, so there's little risk at this point that these articles will turn into a "collection of links"
  6. I'm sure we've already had these sorts of discussions regarding links to IMDB and to Find-a-Grave, and in both cases, the result was to keep the links as useful and relevant. If links to grave site information is relevant, I would think a link to births, deaths, and marriages would be at least as relevant.

Personally, I think the only reason these links were deleted in the first place was that the editors who deleted them did so because they had the "appearance" of link-spam and they failed to follow through and adequately examine these links. I went through the same thought process myself. When I first saw them, I thought "crap, link spam..." but then I examined the links and realized that they were an asset to Wikipedia. Also the fact that these users are using their real names and aren't hiding either the project or their relationship to it all points away from these links being useless spam. Acutally, since they have a relationship to the site being put on, that actually points to it being spam. Most people don't spam things they have no relation to. I first started reverting because it looked like edit warring. (Spamming doesn't really have anything to do with it being a commercial site or not. That said, I think now that they were doing it in good faith, After I reverted a couple, I saw the discussions. That's why I tried to consolidate discussion here. The users were just newer and didn't know the process. I guess the question is: Is it a reliable source? It appears so (it is not an open wiki site, but a closed volunteer group, it appears). But that would really be a discussion for WP:RSN. We should keep links to minimum but if it is deemed to be a worthy link it really should have been added by a third-party. We've not kept users' edits where they put theirs or some own genealogy sites in, but, often, those did not always appear to be reliable sources. I guess, it is just that I have seen "genealogy" sites taken off as external links often, so just wondering why this one is an exception. I'm not really saying take them off, I'm saying I'm not sure. Actually, a correction to Rklawton's good faith assumption that I reverted because the edits appeared to be spam. I don't know that I would characterize them as spam, but I disagree with adding them unless there is some sort of consensus. I don't see how geneology links are any more notable than dozens (perhaps hundreds) of other links, such as public libraries, Chambers of Commerce, public health departments, newspaper and other media websites, houses of worship, various civic and other nonprofit organizations, etc, etc, etc. Off the top of my head, I could link about 10 or 15 websites from my geographic area (and it wouldn't be spam; I consider them notable and informative), but I don't because then we have a linkfarm if I do that and a few other people add their favorite websites. I'm not criticizing geneology websites; I just don't see how they merit being placed ahead of so many other useful websites that if we added would double the length of a lot of articles. If I were a geneology enthusiast I might think differently, but then if I were a coin collector, I probably would agree with adding every link to anything having to do with numismatics. So that's why I wanted consensus; it had nothing to do with edit warring or spam (although I may have given the impression of spam since I used the standard templates on the user pages of editors who are adding the links. This is not an issue that I would climb the Reichstag to make my point, but I simply feel that if we allow geneology links without consensus, where do we draw the line? Let's consider Zymurgy's First Law Of Evolving Systems Dynamics: "Once you open a can of worms, the only way to recan them is to use a bigger can." My two cents. • Keep per Rklawton. I have received confirmation that this is indeed a part of the official project. For the NCGenweb then we would be talking about a single link to 100 county articles. The information is quite valuable to those with ties to the county and this is very specific and germane to the topic as the genealogy is part of each county's history. Our public libraries have dedicated sections for these purposes which illustrates the significance of the topic. Note: if this moves forward to a larger venue, I believe it would be ELN and not RSN...notability isn't the question here. At no point would I want Genweb used as a reliable source within an article but I feel that it is a good external link.

Two proposals to motivate article creation and improvement

It seems like there's only a few people who actively participate in this WikiProject on a regular basis, with a number of people interjecting sporadically (which I have done in the past). I'm interested, however, in attempting to encourage people to become more active, and to incentivize that activity. I've been participating for a while now in the WP:MILHIST system as well as this Project's, basically killing two birds with one stone by expanding Wikipedia's NC content, while at the same time working in that project (which is very active). I like two of their ideas, which I suggest we implement in a modified fashion, here:

1. Hold a contest each month/two months/quarter that challenges project members to create quality articles. If you look at WP:MILCON, they have a great monthly contest where they assign points to users based on the number of articles created, and the relative quality of each article as assessed at the end of the month versus its beginning of the month assessment. I believe this originally came from WP:LGBT, where they ran a similar contest. I think implementing this could be as simple as making a new linked sub-page, setting up the rules, and advertizing it among semi-regular WP:WNC editors. I would volunteer to serve as a coordinator for this if the community thinks it's a good idea.

2. Create a WP:WNC-specific Barnstar with Ribbons and possibly with a second-tier distinction. WP:MILHIST does this with WikiChevrons (2nd tier: WikiChevrons with Oak Leaves) for general service to the project, and A-Class Project Medals (2nd tier: with Oak Leaves; 3rd tier: with Swords; God tier: with Diamonds) for their A-class article creation program. See here for those examples. Wikiproject Illinois has the File:WikiProject Illinois Barnstar.png. I would propose creating a barnstar theme based on our State's civilian award, the Order of the Long Leaf Pine. I'd call it the "Barnstar of the Long Leaf Pine", and have a second-tier be "with cotton blooms", and possibly a third-tier "with Golden pine cones". Here's the catch: I have no idea how to design barnstars, and don't have photoshop. I'd be glad to give it a try if someone could tell me how to do it with those conditions, though.

Anyways, interested to hear if anyone thinks these are worthwhile. Also, since I've been away for a long time, I don't know if these have ever been suggested before. If so, I apologize. Cdtew (talk) 16:03, 31 January 2013 (UTC)

One thing to point out as well, which I've been meaning to post here, also, is that our project is also responsible for maintaining the North Carolina Portal pages. Discussion to remove the Automatically assessed logic from the WikiProject United States template

Greetings, there is a discussion regarding removal of the logic used to populate Automatically assessed article categories from Template:WikiProject United States. Most of the categories (over 220 Wikipedia wide) were deleted in February 2013 because they were empty. These categories were previously populated by a bot that hasn't run since 2011 and the categories aren't used. Removal of this uneeded/unused logic will greatly reduce the size and complexity of the WikiProject United States template. Any comments or questions are encouraged here. Lest there is any confusion for people who don't speak the same language, the words "logic used to populate Automatically assessed article categories" refer to the feature that was supposed to allow this WikiProject's template to "inherit" class and importance ratings from other WikiProjects. Wiki Loves Pride 2014

Comment on the WikiProject X proposal

Hello there! As you may already know, most WikiProjects here on Wikipedia struggle to stay active after they've been founded. I believe there is a lot of potential for WikiProjects to facilitate collaboration across subject areas, so I have submitted a grant proposal with the Wikimedia Foundation for the "WikiProject X" project. WikiProject X will study what makes WikiProjects succeed in retaining editors and then design a prototype WikiProject system that will recruit contributors to WikiProjects and help them run effectively. Suggestion

Hello all! I was curious if anyone else thought it might be a good idea to make a (nonbinding) guideline on how all the individual US state WikiProjects should organize themselves, to help standardize them. I originally put this suggestion in the WikiProject United States talk page, so feel free to look there if you're interested. It's pretty empty though; basically all they said was to see what each of the individual projects thought about it. Please tell me if you have any concerns with this idea; hopefully we can find a way for everyone to love it! US 50,000 Challenge invite

WCQS and Blue Ridge Public Radio

May I draw your attention to the WCQS Wikipedia page that is under WikiProject North Carolina. In the last few weeks they have created a new parent company: Blue Ridge Public Radio and a new sibling station to WCQS called BPR News. There is a lot of information that it out of date with our listing for WCQS including the transition to BPR and the addition of a new radio station BPR News. I am unfortunately not able to edit the page due to a financial conflict, but there is a summary of most changes on their talk page including references.

Help with Sageworks updates

Hi! I'm reaching out to see if editors interested in North Carolina-related businesses would be able to look at some proposed updates for Raleigh-based Sageworks's article. In full disclosure, I'm here on behalf of Sageworks as part of my work with Beutler Ink. I believe there are some issues with the page's current content in terms of sourcing and due weight. To start with, I've suggested a proposal for the History section, to begin with something neutral and where it's a case of simply providing more encyclopedic content based on reliable sources.

A quick note about the history on the page prior to my involvement. More than two years ago, individuals from Sageworks edited without disclosure, created multiple accounts, and the accounts were rightly blocked for sockpuppetry; Sageworks understands and does not intend to appeal the block or try to directly edit the page again. There were also editors involved in discussions and editing the article whose opinions and suggestions appear to be motivated by a dislike for the company. Because of this history and the debates that followed, I think fresh eyes on the article in general would be helpful. If there's any feedback or questions, please let me know. Include this Civil War general?

James Henry Lane (Confederate general) was born in Virginia and returned there after the Civil War. Immediately before the war, however, he was teaching at the North Carolina Military Institute and during the war he commanded a North Carolina infantry brigade. Haywood County

Just noticed this on the Haywood County page, there's a section the the Tuscola-Pisgah rivalry. Can someone with more expertise on the subject than me please comment on whether this section meets notability standards from a global point of view? Removing it takes out a significant portion of the Education section, but maybe there's something better that can be added instead of a local school rivalry. N. WikiProject collaboration notice from the Portals WikiProject

The reason I am contacting you is because there are one or more portals that fall under this subject, and the Portals WikiProject is currently undertaking a major drive to automate portals that may affect them.

Portals are being redesigned.

The new design features are being applied to existing portals.

At present, we are gearing up for a maintenance pass of portals in which the introduction section will be upgraded to no longer need a subpage. In place of static copied and pasted excerpts will be self-updating excerpts displayed through selective transclusion, using the template {{Transclude lead excerpt}}.

The discussion about this can be found here.

Maintainers of specific portals are encouraged to sign up as project members here, noting the portals they maintain, so that those portals are skipped by the maintenance pass. Currently, we are interested in upgrading neglected and abandoned portals. There will be opportunity for maintained portals to opt-in later, or the portal maintainers can handle upgrading (the portals they maintain) personally at any time.

Background

On April 8th, 2018, an RfC ("Request for comment") proposal was made to eliminate all portals and the portal namespace. On April 17th, the Portals WikiProject was rebooted to handle the revitalization of the portal system. On May 12th, the RfC was closed with the result to keep portals, by a margin of about 2 to 1 in favor of keeping portals.

There's an article in the current edition of the Signpost interviewing project members about the RfC and the Portals WikiProject.

Since the reboot, the Portals WikiProject has been busy building tools and components to upgrade portals.

So far, 84 editors have joined.

Greetings North Carolinians,

From reviewing this handy map of newspapers with Wikipedia articles, it appears that your state has a whole lot of such articles. Congratulations! Is there a story about how that came to be -- did your WikiProject, or a local university, have a newspaper drive, or something? Or just a handful of editors who have chipped away at it over the years?

In case you haven't heard, Michaelacaulfield has put together the Newspapers on Wikipedia WikiProject, and we're working to create 1,000 good stubs by mid-December. Request for information on WP1.0 web tool

Hello and greetings from the maintainers of the WP 1.0 Bot! As you may or may not know, we are currently involved in an overhaul of the bot, in order to make it more modern and maintainable. As part of this process, we will be rewriting the web tool that is part of the project. You might have noticed this tool if you click through the links on the project assessment summary tables.

We'd like to collect information on how the current tool is used by....you! How do you yourself and the other maintainers of your project use the web tool? Which of its features do you need? How frequently do you use these features? And what features is the tool missing that would be useful to you?
