License tagging for File:Aquila Polonica (logo).jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Aquila Polonica (logo).jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. For the article Triangle of Three Emperors, perhaps you could replace this terrible old map with a new one? I am sure there are nice new maps of that region and time period that would take just a little editing. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 19:06, 7 June 2012 (UTC)

re: Jan Szczepanik

If you think it is a copyvio, it may require listing at WP:COPYVIO. Unfortunately, that page does not seem to be archived in the Internet Archive, so I cannot check when it was created through them. The page has two @ marks in source, one from 2000 for Gemius ([1]), but they are IIRC more of a web design, and one for "Copyright. Ministry of Foreign Affairs 2008-2011". I'd think that the content (text) was written by MoFA, not by Gemius, hence if our version is from 2004, it is the MoFA who stole it from us, not the other way around. If you'd like an expert opinion, you may ask for more input in this thread at User_talk:Moonriddengirl. PS. If MoFA stole from us, I'd actually be interested in pushing for investigation more strongly, as if we are lucky, embarrassing them may result in licensing if their content under a free license. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 20:06, 20 June 2012 (UTC)

Honestly? I don't know what to think. The article was uploaded in one block (1,659 bytes) on 29 September 2004‎ by Emax with only two small i-links retouched a day later in his two subsequent edits.[2]. That's just too easy. Meanwhile, the actual link to MoFA was added by Zomno (talk · contribs) only four years later, on 9 June 2008 (same year as MoFA's © Copyright of 2008-2011).[3] Poeticbent talk 20:47, 20 June 2012 (UTC)

Doktor Dirlewanger

Warsaw was for Dirlewanger not really different than his Belarusian countryside adventures (the only difference being a whole big city for him to rape), and what's maybe more important, Slovakia-Hungary-Germany was not Warsaw anyway (Dirlewanger's crimes in Slovakia are little known, like the Slovak uprising is in general outside Slovakia). "Inception into NSDAP" is also strangely worded, and for most people "Inception" is a film. I used "World War I and the interwar period" instead. --Niemti (talk) 07:35, 25 June 2012 (UTC)

Also Focha Street (ul. Focha, for his role in the Polish-Bolshevik War) is not even in Wola, it's in the Downtown (Srodmiescie). And by the time Dirlewanger arrived in the city center, the Wola massacres were long over, and all that remained there were the rows of burned out-buildings with piles of charred bones in some courtyards. --Niemti (talk) 08:11, 25 June 2012 (UTC)

  • I appreciate your help. Focha is not in Wola, correct. On the other hand, none of us is in Dirlewanger's head. None of us can say, what was... and was not really different for him in his own head. I suggest, we concentrate on collaborative writing, not on lecturing each other, i.e. Inception (disambiguation). Poeticbent talk 15:15, 25 June 2012 (UTC)
    • I didn't mean Dirlewanger's opinion, I meant the fact that it was just a part of his WWII rampage. The Polish urban dwellers should not be put over the Belarusian country folk like that. --Niemti (talk) 15:52, 25 June 2012 (UTC)

Death of Dirlewanger

The date's either June 5 or 7, depending on the source. And I think it was actually June 5 (it's June 5 also in German Wikipedia).

Since you're so interested, and a Polish speaker, this article is probably the most detailed online account of his demise.[4] --Niemti (talk) 22:14, 30 June 2012 (UTC)

Also here's a French photo from his arrest: [5] --Niemti (talk) 22:33, 30 June 2012 (UTC)

Hassel's books are just novels

Dirlewanger is a character in a few of them, chiefly Reign of Hell[6] which is about Warsaw. The men of Dirlewanger's unit lynched Dirlewanger's deputy, though (but even this happened in Germany in April 1945, not in Poland in January).[7] --Niemti (talk) 07:31, 1 July 2012 (UTC)

The novel also got a Polish edition.[8] --Niemti (talk) 07:55, 1 July 2012 (UTC)

Re. Forced evictions in Baku

Thank you for at least taking the time to review my DYK nomination. For what it's worth, I took the time to read the policy pages you've supplied and agreed with your points, however I've been quite busy in recent times. I'm currently visiting with relatives, preparing for what will likely be a hectic year ahead, and have not gotten around to revising the entirety of the article for the excessive quotations (not that this is an excuse, but is intended as an explanation). That being said, I'm still not 100% clear on copyright policies yet (it's part of what sank my last RfA, and I have a bad feeling that this DYK nomination might come back to haunt me in a big and major way on my next try as well), so I do have a question — would it be best to remove all quotations within the sourced references, or should I just worry about not exceeding the limit? I'm not here to create articles for the sake of getting credits for it, I'm doing it to improve Wikipedia's coverage of the topics, and I'd like to continue building on Forced evictions in Baku so as to bring it up to decent quality, or otherwise merge the content with the main Human rights in Azerbaijan article and elaborate there (which, on reflection, might actually be a better idea).

Your thoughts on the matter would be greatly appreciated. =) Kurtis (talk) 03:31, 25 August 2012 (UTC)

Please don't take this personally. Now, that the nom is closed, at least, you can finally let go of the stress associated with having to deal with it, and take care of things of importance in your personal life. I suggest, you remove all quotations (like you said) and try to see if you can describe their content in your own words within the main copy. If you find that the info cannot be used there, it means, the quotations shouldn't have been included in the first place. People can click on the link and read the HRW report for themselves. I don't see a need for a merger. The article has a lot of potential on its own. Poeticbent talk 07:01, 25 August 2012 (UTC)
I'm sorry if it frustrated you to deal with me. I had every intention of removing the quotes earlier, but never got around to doing so. I hope I haven't caused any real damage to the site by creating that article in its present state. Kurtis (talk) 22:10, 25 August 2012 (UTC)
  • Now how does the article look? [9]   Kurtis (talk) 17:28, 27 August 2012 (UTC)
I'm sure you'll be a good administrator soon enough, with a solid track record. Poeticbent talk 18:43, 27 August 2012 (UTC)
Thank you kindly, although the fact remains that your sentiments have nothing to do with the article's present state. Nevertheless, I appreciate your support. =) Kurtis (talk) 19:19, 27 August 2012 (UTC)
