The hook fact, while stated in the article, is not supported by the source. Said source merely says that one leader of a Mennonite community was executed, having been "accused of guiding German aircrafts towards their target with a mirror", and then goes on to say that it is unknown whether the accusations were justified or not. It also doesn't state that this particular leader was a member of the Deutscher Volksverband (nor the seven other men arrested, or what indeed they were charged with). Absent evidence of such training from a source, the sentence needs to be removed from the article and a new hook will be needed.
- I'm also concerned with the paraphrasing in that final paragraph, which seems too close to its source. Compare, in the first paragraph, "in the territory of Powiśle around Warsaw, a widespread propaganda action was carried out" with the source's "on the territory of Powisle a widespread propaganda action was carried out", and shortly thereafter, "Aleks Nipie, encouraging young people to escape to Germany and join the Wehrmacht" and the source's "Aleks Nipie, arrived from the Third Reich, encouraged young people to escape to Germany and join its army". - With you guys chipping in, our Template:DYK begins to look more and more like a peer-reviewed journal (no kidding!). Thanks for the attention to detail, BlueMoonset. I did a lot of extra searching since yesterday (please look at the number of new refs I added). The hook is supported by evidence of prior knowledge of how to guide aircraft which was part of the Abwehr training. It goes without saying that DVV were involved in it, because it was one of the biggest pro-Nazi organizations in Poland. The sabotage actions performed by German minority were reported in many different cities verified by reliable sources. By the way, the original source did say that Mennonites started to establish local structures of the Deutscher Volksverband (DVV) and were the source of German partisans. Many different men were shot for guiding German aircrafts with mirrors, even though the author of the original article is free to pose questions about any particular case. I don't mind however changing the hook to make it sound more straightforward.

ALT1 hook accepted in good faith (sources include Polish and German), but original hook struck because the specific citation given in the article for the "trained to guide the Luftwaffe aircraft towards a desired target with mirrors" statement does not support it, as required by DYK rules.
