Speedy deletion nomination of Jeannette Yango

Hello MbahGondrong,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Jeannette Yango for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. PawanAhuja (talk) 18:57, 8 June 2015 (UTC)

Your article Ajara Nchout

Hi MbahGondrong, I'm afraid your newly created article Ajara Nchout is actually a duplicate of the existing Njoya Nkout. I'm not sure how to resolve this conflict in en-wp, however. --Headlocker (talk) 21:11, 10 June 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for the notice. Redirected the old to the new one. Cheers! MbahGondrong (talk) 08:39, 11 June 2015 (UTC)
You should have also requested that the histories of the two pages be merged. – PeeJay 17:17, 16 June 2015 (UTC)
Sorry did not know that, how could I do that? MbahGondrong (talk) 18:29, 16 June 2015 (UTC)
It's okay, I've done it now. For future reference, you just need to add {{histmerge}} to the new page. – PeeJay 18:58, 16 June 2015 (UTC)

2015–16 Austrian Regional Leagues

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a search with the contents of 2015–16 Austrian Regional Leagues, and it appears to be very similar to another Wikipedia page: 2014–15 Austrian Regional Leagues. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally trying to rename an article, please see Help:Moving a page for instructions on how to do this without copying and pasting. If you are trying to move or copy content from one article to a different one, please see Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia and be sure you have acknowledged the duplication of material in an edit summary to preserve attribution history.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. CorenSearchBot (talk) 22:36, 12 June 2015 (UTC)

New articles

Hi, I saw you created some new articles for players who participated in FIFA Women's World cup (I have done the same). However the article you created today seems to be completely unsourced and I would appreciate if you in the future also consider quality ahead of quantity. Please do not only create a lot of articles but also source them and add some content instead of just one line of text. You could always compare Aurelle Awona I created yesterday to your creation Agathe Ngani and spot the difference. Thank you. Qed237 (talk) 13:09, 21 June 2015 (UTC)

I would like to second this and express another concern: FIFA publishes the players' cap and goal totals, but your articles invariably contain different totals which are unreferenced/incorrect. For example Zhang Yue (footballer), created by you with 5 caps 0 goals. Quickly updated by other editors to the 48/0 widely published by FIFA.
These ones were the same and all seem to have been corrected by other editors now. But this is just one team. I dread to think what a mess the other teams are in! I could understand it if you'd copy & pasted the same stat (after all, you churned out many of these stubs on the same day). What concerns me is that this isn't carelessness: each article had its own unique pretend or imaginary figures inserted. I am sure I won't be the only one watching your edits very closely from now on. Thanks, Målfarlig! (talk) 13:58, 21 June 2015 (UTC)
I just have an addition. When putting welcome message on new editors it states Additionally, all new biographies of living people must contain at least one reliable source. and unsourced BLPs can be speedily removed as you can not prove notability so please check out your creations and improve them or you risk having a lot of removal messages on your talkpage soon and several articles removed. Qed237 (talk) 14:11, 21 June 2015 (UTC)
@Målfarlig! and Qed237: I appreciate your feedbacks for the articles I created. Mostly I use Soccerway as a source when I create new articles and most of them (seems like some editors have replaced ith the FIFA ones) have it in the external links, and so far that seems to be just fine. My goal is to reduce the red links (women & men) on football articles by creating articles thats fulfills minimum notability so that they can be further improved, especially player articles, and I really appreciate (even though I dont thank personally) when other editors improve those articles I created.
Both of you can check the soccerway links on the articles I created and see if they are from my imagination or not. I could of course use FIFA as a source but the profiles there are limited to only players that have played for the senior national team and not their league performances (especially for less known/women).
Please next time check first before you accuse someone to make articles from their imagination or just copy pasting their stats. Oh, by the way Zhao Lina article have been kept, before start improving that article with the sources on the AfD before any other editors nominates it again. Cheers! MbahGondrong (talk) 14:31, 21 June 2015 (UTC)
I am not accusing you for making articles from your imagination, I am just saying that I would appreciate if you spend some more time on your articles and try and add some more sources. For example it is not so hard to find a source to say that the player played in the Women's Worsd Cup and therby verify that the player is notable. Qed237 (talk) 14:50, 21 June 2015 (UTC)
It was not intended for you. Thanks for your feedback. MbahGondrong (talk) 14:58, 21 June 2015 (UTC)

June 2015

Your recent editing history at Smail Prevljak shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you get reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. Zombie433

Hi, are you User:Zombie433? I've been looking back through your created articles and like Tamer Seyam they pretty much all have made up infobox stats. You include Soccerway as an external link but I've looked at plenty and have yet to find one where your infobox caps/goals actually matches the totals at Soccerway! This was Zombie433's modus operandi too. Obscure footballers, tonnes of very short under-referenced stubs, deliberate introduction of false info, German connection... it's just a hunch. Målfarlig! (talk) 20:41, 30 June 2015 (UTC)

Please, if you suspect me with wrong doing here in Wikipedia, give a proper prove of my mistakes and stop accusing me with false accusations or hunch or whatever thing you thought I have been doing. Just give me one example of an article I created that does NOT match the stats on Soccerway if you found any. MbahGondrong (talk) 21:33, 30 June 2015 (UTC)
Ok MbahGondrong, I have now had time to properly review your contributions and I am withdrawing my claim that you are deliberately introducing errors like Zombie433. I apologise for any offence caused. However, with respect, you do have quite a serious WP:COMPETENCE issue. This stems, in part, from your reliance on Soccerway which is not a WP:RS for international football. The games included for female players seem to be only official qualifiers and tournament games, not friendlies or other tournaments. Also it does not cover some leagues. I mean, when you created Sine Hovesen and Karoline Smidt Nielsen, for example, did you really think that they were in Denmark's national team despite playing zero times for their club? Here you also provided stats for national youth teams which were based on Soccerway but were incomplete/wrong because only UEFA competitions are included. I recommend in future that you try the national association for your cap/goal totals, or UEFA/FIFA etc when major tournaments come round. At the very least you need to start looking beyond Soccerway. As User:Qed237 said, you generally need to start putting more time and effort into your articles which overall are of a desperately poor standard and full of inaccuracies, even if not always intentional.
I hope now that I have withdrawn my suspicion that you are Zombie433, the low-level WP:WIKIHOUNDING and WP:EDITWARRING which you seem to have branched out into will stop. I think you have misunderstood WP:INFOBOXREF, perhaps because English is not your first language. I invite you to look at Steve Bruce and Robin Friday which are feature articles with references in their infoboxes. The height field (obviously) should reflect those provided in the source. I hope that this message has clarified a few things for you, but don't hesitate to get back in touch if I can be of any more help. Thanks, Målfarlig! (talk) 17:39, 4 July 2015 (UTC)
Apologies accepted. Just a suggestion, please in the future, when someone disagree with you, always have WP:AGF in mind and don't directly be defensive or attack the related user. After all, we are all here to improve Wikipedia, I assume. As for the samples you mentioned, maybe I made mistake in some of the articles I created, since as I said previously, I usually make a number of articles in a row and well, mistakes can happen. FYI I will admit if I make mistake and I will accept the consequences (deletion or whatever), just don't make proveless accusations, that is totally NOT cool.
Regarding the cases you mention above, I just follow what the source mention and if it says they have international caps but no club caps than it is so. This cases happen especially for women football, since there are not as many documentation as men's football. That is when the use of community be needed, too improve articles.
Regarding the WP:INFOBOXREF thingy, maybe you missed the last sentence "However, editors should first consider including the fact in the body of the article", it is not a pain in the ass too add 4-5 more sentences. It is quite straight forward and no need to comment on my English please, thank you very much for caring. Oh and about deletion of my warning in your talk page, better be careful with that, it can show your approach in dealing a debate of conflict with other users. Happy editing. 2015–16 RB Leipzig season

The "results by round" section exists in most of german clubs season pages so i think it is better to keep the section and there's no need to delete the section. you can check these pages for example: 2015–16 Borussia Dortmund season 2015–16 Borussia Mönchengladbach season 2015–16 VfL Wolfsburg season. So obviously the section should stay. Jallouljalloul (talk) 20:44, 9 July 2015 (UTC)

Personally I do not quite like these type of additional statistics, as actually it have little information contribution compared to other sections. The result and position by round actually are clearly seen in the "2. Bundesliga fixtures & results". That is why I stated redundant as the reason. Please make sure though that it will be properly updated. If not in the end it could be cleaned up. Thanks! MbahGondrong (talk) 20:58, 9 July 2015 (UTC)
After a second thought I think that you're right and the section is not adding any information. You can remove that section if you want or maybe I'll do it myself. Jallouljalloul (talk) 03:55, 10 July 2015 (UTC)

Some tips for making your stubs a bit better

Apart from your over-reliance on Soccerway (which isn't always a WP:RS), I've noticed there are some other aspects of your created articles which need substantial improvement. Typing "player who plays" is poor English, try to put "footballer who plays..." or "soccer player who represents..." The word "currently" is pretty pointless too - I mean, they either play for the team or they don't, right? Also, try not to say they play for Bayern Munich in the Frauen-Bundesliga. Put of the Frauen-Bundesliga instead, because they play matches for their teams outside the league too. Please remember to always put the stub tags at the bottom of the article, this will draw attention to the fact that your creations require expansion and improvement. These are just small suggestions, but hopefully by taking this advice you will get better and eventually take some steps on the path to becoming a worthwhile contributor. Thanks, Målfarlig! (talk) 20:05, 13 July 2015 (UTC)

Thank you very much for the advices. Will apply them for my new articles, so I could become a worthwhile editor. MbahGondrong (talk) 21:12, 13 July 2015 (UTC)

Women Bundesliga transfers

Sigh. Doing all this work and getting it deleted like this is frustrating.

I don't agree it's totally unnecesary, I'd say it's interesting for those into this topic, and I don't know what you mean with 5 seasons when this is just about the 2015-16 season. And Frauen Bundesliga teams don't have season pages so far.

Whatever. Would it be acceptable to make a section in the club's page with season by season signings? I'm sure some users might be interested in seeing the progression of the club's signing policy rather than searching in every season page. And like I said there aren't season pages anyway.

But really, I think this 2015-16 signings chart was interesting and looked great and it's a shame to have it deleted. Pakhtakorienne (talk) 14:56, 19 July 2015 (UTC)

Hi, sorry for the revert. I know how frustating it is, been there before. The last 5 seasons means at least the last 5 Bundesliga Women seasons does not have the section. Consistency needs to be taken every year. Maybe you can create another article such as List of German football transfers summer 2015 and have it on the external links for 2015–16 Bundesliga (women). Hope it helps, good job anyway. MbahGondrong (talk) 15:24, 19 July 2015 (UTC)

That alignment thing

Hi, I see you've reverted my aligning the attendance figures at 2015–16 1. FC Magdeburg season. My rationale was that since the attendances vary by factors of 10, it is easier to read when the commas as delimiters are aligned, rather than wobbling to the left and right for individual data points. What is your rationale for the revert? Madcynic (talk) 17:25, 12 August 2015 (UTC)

Hi Madcynic, I simply just follow the consistency done on other season articles which uses similar tables. Such as 2014–15 FC Bayern Munich season and 2014–15 FC Schalke 04 season. This are also done on season articles that I create and maintain. MbahGondrong (talk) 01:17, 13 August 2015 (UTC)
May I politely suggest we change this for the Magdeburg article? It enhances readability as it is easier to compare attendance figures. The Bayern article is a bad example, as they only ever have five-digit attendances. I believe consistency to not be a good argument. I'd suggest using {{0}} instead, but that wouldn't work for three- vs. four-digit attendances. Madcynic (talk) 13:15, 13 August 2015 (UTC)

Your first creations back in 2012, "German Football Referees" (sic) of dubious notability, were utterly terrible. It's not that your subsequent creations have got worse - indeed, that would be almost impossible - but incredibly three years later they haven't got any better. There is a saying "you can't polish a turd but you can roll it in glitter". Well, I've rolled dozens of your dreadful creations in glitter and I'm getting tired of it. Especially since you branched out into childish disruption. Wikipedia is not the best place for you to try and learn English, or to deliberately introduce false information, like your German/Indonesian alter ego Zombie433 did. I'd definitely support a topic ban, although jettisoning you altogether would be preferable! Målfarlig! (talk) 15:23, 18 September 2015 (UTC)

Creating duplicate articles is not the way to have an article occupy multiple pagenames. They will invariably become out of synch and not contain the same information. Hi, thanks for pointing out my mistake. I totally forgot that I have made an article for the same person. There definitely needs to be redirects to one single article. The case is there seems to be different info from different sources. Here and here, she was mentioned as Yvrose Gervil, but here she is mentioned as Yvrase Gerville. Which one do you think are more accurate and correct? MbahGondrong (talk) 10:38, 9 October 2015 (UTC)
That can be determined through a merger discussion, post a message to WP:PM (proposed mergers) asking for help. -- 70.51.44.60 (talk) 10:57, 9 October 2015 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Ju Hyo-sim

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Ju Hyo-sim requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Donottroll (talk) 04:00, 7 March 2016 (UTC)

2015–16 Oberliga Niederrhein & Mittelrhein

I have updated the 2015–16 Oberliga Niederrhein & Mittelrhein, two articles that you used to do in the past. Just to let you know, I use a slightly different system to update which you might, at least initially, find confusing. I've got an Excel spreadsheet in which I directly copy tables from soccerway.com, which converts them and than I copy the information directly into the article. It eliminates manual editing every column. It's a bit difficult to use it for manual entry however so if you update again next time and find it annoying just revert to your version. Regards, Calistemon (talk) 00:02, 20 April 2016 (UTC)

It is quite simple to use once you get used to it and eliminates a lot of data entry. It works well with soccerway but I can't make it as yet work with German websites like kicker or Weltfussball as they use club logos in their tables which throws it off. The only way to send it to you is for you to email me and I email it back as I can't attach the file otherwise. I'm happy to send it to you, it helped me greatly when I created the historical Oberliga seasons in Category:Oberliga (football) seasons. By the way, I update the Regionalliga article as well, same story there. Calistemon (talk) 06:28, 20 April 2016 (UTC)
I have send you an email back with the attachment. See how you go. Calistemon (talk) 22:48, 20 April 2016 (UTC)
I have replied but I don't know what is causing the issue. I used for the 2014–15 Oberliga Westfalen article today and it worked fine. Sorry, don't have much of an answer for the problem. Calistemon (talk) 12:30, 23 April 2016 (UTC)

Ricardo John

It seems to be a recurring issue for you based on your Talk Page, but your creation of the Ricardo John is... pointless? Not only does the person in question fail all guidelines for an article, the article provides literally nothing. In fact, all it does include is incorrect information, I'm not sure how you would incorrectly research a single sentence and a poorly filled out infobox. The article wasn't even written to the standard of a very basic stub, it just featured a couple of words. I presume it was created so you can claim you created it to look good on your user page. It doesn't provide any valid contribution to Wikipedia or the community.

Whats the point of sorting the list of the standings according to the position? An alphabetic sorting makes more sense.

Categorising categories

When you create new categories such as Category:2016–17_in_Austrian_women's_football, please can you not leave them blank but assign them to categories? Otherwise a)humans can't find the categories so they might as well not exist, and b)a lot of automated maintenance relies on the category hierarchy being used. See WP:Categorization for more information - with those kinds of categories you can usually clone the categories from a similar one. Cheers. Le Deluge (talk) 23:17, 3 October 2016 (UTC)

Please can you add categories - you are now responsible for over 10% of all uncategorised categories on English Wikipedia. It's easy enough to do - you can just copy them across from the previous season's category.Le Deluge (talk) 22:40, 17 October 2016 (UTC)

If I had known this had been going on I would have descended with every swear word I know in dutch, javanese and indonesian (I am very behind on arabic and russian varieties). Yes - categories are what hold the whole of wikipedia together. Please do not ever create a category without a category again - otherwise I will wish every problematic soccer article into your lap for at least 4 seasons. in WP:AGF of course JarrahTree 00:50, 18 October 2016 (UTC)

Jangan... you have it wrong completely I was being slightly over-dramatic for effect, your editing is always appreciated.... - if you ever create a new category - please make sure it is in another!!! - cheers - keep up the good work JarrahTree 08:56, 18 October 2016 (UTC)

Invite to the African Destubathon

Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! So it would be a good chance to win something for improving stubs on African sportspeople, including footballers, athletes, Olympians and Paralympians etc, particularly female ones, but also male. Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing a few expanded articles on African Paralympians, Olympians and committees etc, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:13, 6 October 2016 (UTC)

Women's Football / Soccer Task Force News: August 2017

Should the women's football task force become WikiProject: WOSO?

According to an op-ed in the recent Signpost, some editors think task forces and subgroups are dying in 2017.

What do you think about forming our own WikiProject separate from WP:FOOTY? There's an on-going discussion of the potential pros and cons on the task force talk page. Input is welcome.

Recent developments

New initiatives have been created for:

  • FA WSL (England's top-division league)
  • NCAA (American university teams, conferences, etc.)
  • W-League (Australia's top-division league)
Ongoing tournaments
Current and upcoming seasons for top-division leagues
Did you know?

While WP:FPL lists only two women's top-division leagues as notable due to its "fully professional" criteria, did you know you can create an article on any player in any league as long as the references meet WP:GNG guidelines? Make sure to tag the new article talk page with: {{WP Women's sport|footy=yes}}.

Have some new articles in mind or see some that need improvement? Add them to the Open Tasks page if you'd like and other editors may be able to help. Need tips, assistance, or resources from other WOSO editors? Leave a message on the task force talk page.

Thank you for your continued contributions to articles related to women's football / soccer (WOSO)!

Hello WOSO editors! A few initiatives have been started with an emphasis on making more WOSO links blue (similar to the work that WikiProject Women in Red does) and filling in the gaps within various league, team, and player, etc. articles.

If you're interested in collaborating with others to make more links blue, take a look at the initiatives listed in the box below. Sign up at the bottom of an initiative page and help grow the lists, add potential references, resources, and create the articles ... or create your own initiative.

WP:WOSO News: October 2020

Chelsea striker Bethany England scoring the winning goal in the team's 2-1 win against Arsenal at the 2019–20 FA Women's League Cup, February 29, 2020.

Hello WOSO editors!

What a year to be alive. As usual (but perhaps even moreso since there have been unexpected quarantines), there has been a lot of activity on player, team, league and tournament-related Wikipedia articles with all of the worldwide coverage of women's football / soccer. Great work!

Fall Focus: FA WSL articles

You may have noticed lots of great things going on for the top English league this year: the FA WSL. More (international!) broadcasts, top international player signings, improved media coverage, and increased viewership. Let's keep the momentum brewing, shall we?

Here's a sampling of articles that could use creation, expansion or updating. What will you commit to working on?
