BMO and RBC

For RBC the company's primary corporate offices are located in Toronto, while it is officially headquartered in Montreal. And sam for BMO's operational headquarters moved to Toronto, while its legal head office remained in Montreal. I feel they should be mentioned

Good job on the new maps, but I would now suggest changing the caption underneath the demerged boroughs, as a grey area could be defined as the whole island. Maybe something mentioning the white outlines.

Westmount park

If you have enough information and sources, I would say go ahead and start the article. Along with Summit Circle Park, I would say that it's the most important park in Westmount. If you don't think there's enough for an article, you can always write a paragraph about it in the Westmount article, perhaps under a "Parks" section. In my opinion the fact that there was a public dispute over the proposed installation of artificial turf in part of the park makes it notable (along with being the home field of North America's oldest rugby club). You are the perfect person to ask. Do you know where the drumming thing is on the mountain by Parc Ave? Well, behind there, up the hill a bit, there is this freakish gathering of people fighting with rubber swords and shields. I know that these "battles" don't have a name (let alone an article, which not even the much more famous Tam-Tams have). However there is a mention of them in the Mount Royal article, along with a source describing their behaviour in greater detail, complete with pictures. Cheers. Thanks for that! These are fairly nice pictures. Some are better than others. Most of them need a bit of retouching. Most seem to have stitch marks in them, although I think that they are usable (just probably not for an infobox image). I could probably take a "skyline" picture from Westmount Summit sometime, if I'm in the area. My thoughts exactly. The pics show some typical houses in lower Westmount. And yes, they are stitched together. I am 50-50 on whether or not they should have a place in the article -- certainly not in the infobox. Unfortunately there are no 'hub' or skylines in the group. I look forward to seeing your shots. As for Tamtams, I finally, found the article. I had to create a few redirects, and fix one that bounced to Mount Royal, but now all is well. List of bridges in Montreal

Not much is left to do before I submit List of bridges in Montreal to featured list evaluation. A reference attesting to the construction dates of the three bridges to Repentigny, and that of earlier structures if any, and perhaps choosing a better color scheme for the tables. I was told that the picture of Jacques Cartier Bridge, as artistically sound as it is, is unsuitable for encyclopedic purposes.

Hi Anna. I hope the picture I found on Flickr for the Westmount article was a good choice (I tried to find one with the actual "mountain" in it). As far as I know, the Empress Theatre still looks the same today, but I haven't passed by there in quite a while. These kinds of projects tend to take quite a while to get off the ground here (I'm not sure that they even have funding yet). That said, they may very well have started renovating, as it has been discussed/planned for ages. Next time I am in NDG, I will bring my camera and snap a shot if something looks different. I noticed that there are two articles for this topic that should be combined (there is also an article entitled Cinema V), which name do you think is more notable? It's being discussed on the Cinema V talk page. Those are some spectacular shots you took of Haikou, a nice contrast from the grey, dreary and cold weather in Montreal this time of year. I put the template on the lingering image file to get rid of it. Before, I did use twinkle on it though, and I think it was also listed on Commons. That was probably why it didn't completely go away. Another thing, I agree that Quebec 7440's SPI case should be merged into the existing case of Caro 08, but I'm not entirely sure how to do this, since Caro 08's case seems to be archived. --MTLskyline (talk) 07:24, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

fix colors?

Limits of Lemoyne and Longueuil

On the edit page of LeMoyne, Quebec , you've wrote on May 19th Boudreau Street was the historical dividing line between Longueuil and LeMoyne. This statement is true but only for Tiffin Rd.

On Taschereau Boulevard, the limits of Lemoyne/Longueuil is a little bit north of Boudreau but still south of Desaulniers. For example Oscar Motel which is north of Boudreau but south of Desaulniers is located in Lemoyne. So even though your edit is not 100% acurate, it is still better than my previous edit when I said Desaulniers was the dividing line because Desaulniers never reaches Lemoyne whether on Tiffin or Taschereau.

There is a very good chance you are right about the border being a little north of Boudreau. Although the Oscar Motel is on the south side of Boudreau rather than the north side. There is a snow clearing company located on the north side though, and that could very well have a LeMoyne address.

All three groundhogs did not see their shadows this year, so that means an early spring is on its way. Spring is my favourite season, so I couldn't be happier about that. The Year of the Rabbit is going well so far.

I don't reside close to downtown (I live and work on the south shore), so I am rarely in the area. I might have a chance or two to drop by on a weekend though. Otherwise, I know for sure I'll be in the area more frequently starting in May. I'm not sure if that's leaving it too late though (do you know if they are planning to change the facade or something?). However, the picture might look better without all the dirty snow. AMT ridership

I took a look around on the French wikipedia and found that they were using the 2009 activity report. They do have an English version which is available on the AMT's website. The AMT also has a 2010 version posted, although I have not been able to access it (the link is very slow). Might has well use the most recent numbers (they are on page 30). One thing I noticed is that the ridership per line counts the number of people who ride the train each day (just counting boardings I guess), whereas the individual station traffic stats count the combined number of entries and exits at each station. This seems to mean that most people are counted twice at the same station in the same day. --MTLskyline (talk) 04:25, 9 October 2011 (UTC)

I did it for the TTC subway stations, and it means that each individual station does not need to be updated every year, just the data template. West Island

Hi. Do you have any guidance on whether Lachine, Lasalle and Saint Laurent are part of the West Island? I've removed the statement that they are not as unsourced POV. As pointed out in Talk:West_Island#Which_areas_do_actually_belong_to_the_West_Island.3F, way back in 2009, leaving the article as is confronts readers with a puzzling contradiction, as the map clearly shows the three areas as in the West Island. I'm having trouble finding reliable sources that Lachine et al are in the West Island, so all I can fall back on is my OR as a lifelong west islander and the fact that the West Island edition of the Montreal Gazette serves these areas, which is obviously not enough. The West Island does not seem to have any official territorial definition. The West Island Chamber of Commerce includes Lachine but not Saint-Laurent and LaSalle. A zone map used by cab companies includes only Lachine as well. This federal government website does not include any of the three. Neither does this website.

My own view is that LaSalle is not part of the West Island. Saint-Laurent could be argued either way, although none of the maps I found includes it. A case could be made for Lachine being on the West Island, although we might be best off just using the stricter (excluding Lachine, LaSalle and Saint-Laurent) definition that everyone agrees on. --MTLskyline (talk) 02:17, 27 October 2011 (UTC)

East End of Montreal

Hi. In wikifying this article, I was surprised to see that we do not seem to have an article about Montreal's "East End" region, similar to what we do have for West Island. I'm constantly in amazement at your rate of article creation, and goodness knows you don't need more work. But if you were looking to add to your to-do list for Montreal geo-articles, do you think this would be worth creating? Shawn in Montreal (talk) 18:04, 30 December 2011 (UTC)

I think it could be worth creating, provided we have a clear definition and are capable of getting it past stub status. What boroughs/neighbourhoods would you include in the definition? Montreal East, Hochelaga-Maisonneuve and Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles are easy ones. I presume that Anjou and Saint-Leonard are also considered to be in the East End. Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie is a maybe, as are Montreal North and the Ahuntsic neighbourhood of Ahuntsic-Cartierville. Villeray-St-Michel-Parc-Extension also might be considered east end, at least the Villeray and Saint-Michel neighbourhoods.

Also, should there be a North End article? Should areas in the East End also be included in the North End? (like Rivière-des-Prairies or Montreal North) Then there is also the West End (Notre-Dame-de-Grâce comes to mind) which is kind of in between the West Island and central areas. The only one I've never heard used is the "South End".

You have been on a tear, lately, to be sure! And you raise a good question about definitions: after we get past the easy ones, it gets tricker, just like with my question to you a while back about West Island boundaries. Some of the neighbourhoods you've mentioned seem like central districts. But then, by some definitions, anything east of The Main is East End. Maybe this is something not to rush into. Not so sure about the North End. But West End, including NDG, Montreal West and the like, is another likely suspect. Perhaps easier to define. (Pretty sure we had a West End Gang named after it, if I remember my Coolopolis stories. A CBC telefilm (with no wiki article yet) And Then You Die was about that gang, I think. I found a city website defining East End Montreal as being east of Pie-IX Boulevard. (The specific file is here, page 2) Since this is a city website, perhaps we should use this as the official definition? We could also include brief explanation of other definitions of East End Montreal as well. I was unaware that a feature film made about the West End Gang, it would be great to have an article on it at some point. Hello, I think the easiest way is only put categories by cities in Quebec. For an example Category:Transportation in Brossard, Category:Transportation in Longueuil is related to "Quebec Autoroute 30". I check the article Quebec Autoroute 30 under "Major cities" at the infobox. Categories in cities in Canada should be every article related to city's main article. Conservative Party of Quebec, why 1939?

Hi, is there a citation to give 1939 as the final year for the party, rather than 1935 or 1936?

More generally, when a political party becomes moribund, it might be difficult to research and justify a precise year of demise. Sometimes it dies in fits and starts, with splinter groups, slight name changes, etc. with very little documentation or verifiability. If Social Credit or the Union Nationale were for some reason to be revived in the future, we would presumably have to rename the current articles to "Union Nationale (1936 - ????)" etc. At the other end, sometimes the precise year of founding of a political party may be hard to research unambiguously.

It might be better to simply use "(historical)" as the disambiguation, rather than precise years. Or, since it's very unclear whether the revival will amount to anything, the historical party should remain undisambiguated. -- P.T. Aufrette (talk) 06:31, 22 January 2012 (UTC)

I looked at Conservative Party of Canada (1867–1942) beforehand and assumed that this was the proper format. Regarding 1939, I went by what was written in the French wikipedia article about the historical party. It mentioned that the Conservative Party of Quebec fielded a few candidates in the 1939 election and dissolved shortly thereafter.

I just took a look at the Qds article and it definitely is a huge improvement! If you decide that you do prefer the lowercase spelling, please feel free to move the article. Speaking of which, do you think that the article on the Montreal Symphony House should be moved to Maison symphonique or Maison symphonique de Montréal? When I created the article, I kind of assumed that the Maison symphonique would likely be referred to by an English version of its name, but I'm not sure that is the case so far. Hi, I was looking at the St._Patrick's_Basilica,_Montreal page, and also at List_of_National_Historic_Sites_of_Canada_in_Montreal both of which are pages where you've replaced an image with a better one. I noticed that you didn't change the caption on the first or the alt text on the second- those captions both referenced specific aspects of the image that you replaced and weren't entirely relevant to the new image, you probably just missed them but I just wanted to remind you to watch out for that in future.
