Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Your new article Federation of Northern Syria edit

Hi, as your new article Federation of Northern Syria seems redundant to Rojava, I started a discussion on Talk:Federation of Northern Syria asking for your clarification. Unless you can point out some striking arguments why a separate article would be a good idea, I'm tempted to file an WP:AfD request. Note also that the federation doesn't mean a partition of Syria. Unsourced material edit

Please add proper sources when you add material to any article, and don't add categories unless there is content in the article which support them. For example, you added a category to Papatoetoe, but there was no mention of the subject in the article. You also added Papatoetoe to the article Hindu enclave, saying that 2013 census data was used, but didn't specify where you got this data from (eg, a URL). According to http://archive.stats.govt.nz/Census/2013-census/profile-and-summary-reports/quickstats-about-a-place.aspx?request_value=13475&tabname=Culturaldiversity, 19% of residents of Central Papatoetoe speak Hindi, which is not a plurality, so you will need to have a better source than I could immediately find.-gadfium 22:45, 26 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

Response with Source edit

Hi, I just collected some data from the 2013 census through nz.stat. First off, Hindi is a language so that's not relevant. Second, an enclave is loosely defined, but over 10% of the population is a good measuring stick. I collected the data from papatoetoe central, as well as east, north and west(no south exists) and uploaded the file directly here: http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?file_id=01411423459795357035\ The only problem is that we have to go through an intermediary since these tables cannot be loaded up like a url.

I also calculated the percentages since nz stat doesn't do it for some reason. The Hindu percentage in pap west is 16.8%, north 15.0%, central 18.9% and 18% in east. I put in the other two major denominations in nz(anglican/catholic) and found that Hinduism in all of the suburbs mentioned is the single largest denomination, and not only above 10%, but above 15%.(If the threshhold were to be 15%, then Australia would lose a lot of enclaves that are around 10-14%.) Hindian1947 (talk) 01:40, 27 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

You will need to supply a source, not a spreadsheet of your own making. Also, the article Hindu enclave, which you wrote, says "A Hindu Enclave is a type of religious enclave in which Hindus constitute either a clear majority or a plurality in a foreign land", and the figures in your spreadsheet do not constitute a majority or plurality.-gadfium 03:24, 27 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
    • I don't know why you're being so difficult. 1. Spreadsheet was not "of my making", it was directly from Stats NZ, even has their watermark thing. 2. The one I wrote you seem to have by accident skipped the second line("Hindu enclaves are also when their proportion of the population exceeds 10% of the population in an area."), and both of these sentences were there from the start. Hopefully that clears up the confusion. 3. Like I said, there is no direct source FOR RELIGION in a suburb except the online tool which one has to use themselves with the correct variables. 4. An indirect source that takes from Stats NZ: http://www.mashblock.nz/area-unit/papatoetoe-central Hindian1947 (talk) 05:02, 27 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
      • The 10% criteria for an ethnic enclave appears rather extreme. If this is your definition, you don't need your first sentence referring to a majority or plurality. You do need a source. Our ethnic enclave article doesn't give a definition in terms of proportions, but says "an ethnic enclave is a geographic area with high ethnic concentration, characteristic cultural identity, and economic activity". You will need to provide a source for each item in Hindu enclave to demonstrate this.-gadfium 18:43, 27 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
similarly for Bali/Indonesia - WP:RS please - please do not add without as that is WP:OR - thanks JarrahTree 23:31, 10 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

ARBIPA sanctions alert edit

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

December 2019 edit

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Jammu and Kashmir (princely state); that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Kautilya3 (talk) 00:30, 4 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Orphaned non-free image File:Jammu and Kashmir Workers Party logo.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Jammu and Kashmir Workers Party logo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 17:34, 28 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Akhnoor, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page English. Alert for India/Pakistan/Afghanistan related articles edit

Vengeance 01 (talk) 04:51, 13 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Note - I'm leaving this alert on multiple other editors to make sure everyone is aware that editor behavior is closely watched on these articles. Vengeance 01 (talk) 04:51, 13 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

March 2021 edit

Please do not move a page to a title that is harder to follow, or move it unilaterally against naming conventions or consensus, as you did to Hoshangabad. This includes making page moves while a discussion remains underway. We have some guidelines to help with deciding what title is best for a subject. If you would like to experiment with page titles and moving, please use the test Wikipedia. Do not make moves without consensus. The official names have been changed only recently. Copying content edit

Hi Hindian, I have already informed you of the requirements for copying content from one page to another. But you are still not paying attention to it, as your recent edits to 1947 Jammu massacres reveal. Can you please add a WP:Dummy edit to that page now, and state where the content was copied from? -- Kautilya3 (talk) 13:58, 19 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

It's a work in progress. Some things will stay some will not. By the end we'll have to see what remains, as some information may not be relevant to one article. Also, paragraphs and text can be paraphrased or reworded to fit the article at any time Hindian1947 (talk) 20:59, 20 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

For the meantime, please do not remove large chunks of the article like 1947-1948 Rajouri Massacre. Feel free to reword or adjust the text Hindian1947 (talk) 21:00, 20 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

When you copy content from one page to another, you need to state in the edit summary that you are doing so. This is policy and a legal requirement. You do not have any option about it. If you ignore this again, I will be reporting you to the admins. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 23:30, 20 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Harv refs when copying edit

Hi! When you copy text from one page to another, it's worth checking the references work. For example, short footnotes formatted with {{sfn}} require the presence of the corresponding entry in the bibliography (see the red error message here). And if there is a ref with a defined group parameter (like <ref group="note">), then these footnotes won't be displayed unless there's a special instance of {{reflist}} with the same group parameter (you can see the same link as above, just scroll down to the big red error message right at the bottom).
Now, whether all these refs are necessary is another matter. For something as simple as the fact that Urdu has official status in Azad Kashmir, a single reference should normally be enough. – Uanfala (talk) 17:41, 7 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

September 2021 edit

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on 2019–2021 Jammu and Kashmir lockdown. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;

Tayi Arajakate Talk 13:44, 10 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
