DYK for Stephanie Amiel

On 12 November 2017, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Stephanie Amiel, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the British physician Stephanie Amiel has specialised in type I diabetes since her time at Yale University in the 1980s? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Stephanie Amiel. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Stephanie Amiel), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Bruce Duncan (Priest)

Hi Gaia,

I hope you're well, I have seen that you have sent me a message regarding my additions to the page about Bruce Duncan. I was wondering if you would allow me to apply some small amendments to this page? I am currently in contact with Bruce as I am his grandson and he is supplying the changes directly to me.

Many Thanks

 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fdamara (talkcontribs) 14:47, 15 November 2017 (UTC)
Hi Fdamara! Thank you for your message. As I stated on you talk page, I reverted you edit because it included things that weren't or weren't properly referenced. For example, there was no supporting evidence for Duncan having been head boy, and the reference you provided for him having attended the Hostel of the Resurrection was simply evidence that hostel had existed without any mention of Duncan. I re-added the honorary doctorate as this was sourced.
Thank you for identifying yourself. I have placed a template on you user page that will tell you more about conflict of interest on Wikipedia. There is already a template on there concerning article about living people. As there is no way for me to prove that you are indeed his grandson (IE On the Internet, nobody knows you're a dog), Wikipedia cannot accept any edits that are not referenced. You are allowed to remove information if it is correct (although please make a note of this in the edit summary). If you have information to add that can be cited, please make a note of this either on the article's take page and I or another editor will add it too the article. I would also appreciate if you note on your user page that you are related to Bruce Duncan so that other Wikipedia editors are aware of this.
I'm sorry if this isn't the reply you were hoping for. There are stringent rules in place to protect living people with Wikipedia articles from having false information about them published. If I can help with anything else or you have some referenced information to add, just leave me a message here. Gaia Octavia Agrippa Talk 14:14, 16 November 2017 (UTC)

Bruce Duncan (Priest)

Hi Gaia,

Thank you for your messages, I must admit I am very new to Wikipedia and its rules but I appreciate your clear explanation which has helped me see how these rules work and ensure that the information is reliable. I have a very minor addition for this page which is Bruce's Permission to Officiate in the Diocese of Gibraltar in Europe which was granted from 2010. There is a Crockfords entry for this which I have an image for but understand that the page itself requires an account to view. I'm not sure if this is a problem but, if not, was wondering if this could be added by either you or myself? Link: https://www.crockford.org.uk/people/41032/canon-bruce-duncan

Thanks in advance

Fdamara — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fdamara (talkcontribs) 10:56, 25 November 2017 (UTC)

Hello again! I am happy to help. I do have access to Crockfords so I've been able to verify and add that info to the article. Gaia Octavia Agrippa Talk 16:21, 25 November 2017 (UTC)

DYK nomination of Jenny Morton

Hello! Your submission of Jenny Morton at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and some issues with it may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) underneath your nomination's entry and respond there as soon as possible. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know! Yoninah (talk) 00:23, 27 November 2017 (UTC)

Ian Botham

Please see the rules applicable in Template:Infobox cricketer. The "name" parameter is that which the person used in his playing career and is the same as in the article title. You use his full name including his title in the "full name" parameter. Thanks. Jack | talk page 19:29, 28 November 2017 (UTC)

Thanks Jack. I thought I had checked it, but I must have been looking a different infobox at the same time. Strange that. Gaia Octavia Agrippa Talk 21:53, 28 November 2017 (UTC)
That's no problem, Gaia. I think some infoboxes might have different rules but the sporting ones tend to have name=article title. All the best. Jack | talk page 21:59, 28 November 2017 (UTC)

ArbCom 2017 election voter message

Hello, Gaia Octavia Agrippa. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2017 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 3 December 2017 (UTC)

New Page Reviewing

Hello, Gaia Octavia Agrippa.

As one of Wikipedia's most experienced Wikipedia editors,
Would you please consider becoming a New Page Reviewer? Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time but it requires a good understanding of Wikipedia policies and guidelines; currently Wikipedia needs experienced users at this task. (After gaining the flag, patrolling is not mandatory. One can do it at their convenience). But kindly read the tutorial before making your decision. Thanks. — Insertcleverphrasehere (or here) 09:12, 6 December 2017 (UTC)

2017 Military Historian of the Year and Newcomer of the Year nominations and voting

As we approach the end of the year, the Military History project is looking to recognise editors who have made a real difference. Each year we do this by bestowing two awards: the Military Historian of the Year and the Military History Newcomer of the Year. The co-ordinators invite all project members to get involved by nominating any editor they feel merits recognition for their contributions to the project. Nominations for both awards are open between 00:01 on 2 December 2017 and 23:59 on 15 December 2017. After this, a 14-day voting period will follow commencing at 00:01 on 16 December 2017. Nominations and voting will take place on the main project talkpage: here and here. Thank you for your time. For the co-ordinators, MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 08:36, 8 December 2017 (UTC)
