Special note for Egeymi

edit

Arabic writing style
Capitalized "AI" signifies "family of," e.g., Al Saud, Al Fahd, Al Shaykh; when not capitalized and hyphenated to the succeeding word, denotes the definitive article, e.g., al-Hijaz, al-Hasa.[1]

Spaces

edit

Hi Egeymi, when one makes a list, separating the items in the list with breaks, then it makes a difference if one writes (in code) item 1
item 2 or item 1
item 2. First, it is good practice to close a so called 'void element' with a space before the slash. It doesn't do any harm, and some older browsers still need the extra space in order to render the break correctly. Adding spaces before or after an item makes the item wider than necessary, and can cause an automatic line break where it is undesired. That's why I cleaned the list here (after having done this once or twice before already). I don't see any reason why one would want to replace the tidy version of that list with an untidy version like yours there, so I hope you'll accept my edit this time, now you have my explanation. 77.164.133.132 (talk) 14:36, 19 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

I just tried to delete the unnecessary spaces. Mine did not produce untidy version. The list would be unnecessarily long and hard to insert new entity as it is. But it is not a big deal. Thanks for your detailed explanation although I cannot understand why it is problem when these extra spaces are deleted. --Egeymi (talk) 07:50, 20 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Edit summary explaining edits

edit

Thanks for actually providing an edit summary after redoing your edit. Changing "The fall of..." to just "Reign" seemed a lot like someone trying to disruptively edit. However, your next edit after I reverted made a lot more sense, especially with the edit summary. Blaze The Wolf | Proud Furry and Wikipedia Editor (talk) 13:31, 30 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Waleed bin Ibrahim Al Ibrahim page

edit

Hi there, I noticed you undid some edits I made for the page of Waleed bin Ibrahim Al Ibrahim. The edits I made were updates (new awards and I included sources) and corrections (for example, the spelling of his name, and the acthe tual name of his media company). Could you please explain why these were cancelled out? Thank you. Mahmouddigitalink (talk) 12:32, 7 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I reviewed your edits and mine. First I reinserted one of the sources you put which I reverted. If you want you can reinsert the other one. The reason for my revert was that you used hyphen in the name of the person, as you should have seen there is no hyphen in the title. Another point is that you added some unnecessary sections. Hope I can explain my reverts, happy editing, --Egeymi (talk) 15:41, 7 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Sorry to bother you again. The intro to the article says "It was redesigned as Illustrirte Damen-Zeitung (meaning Illustrated Women's Magazine in English) from 1 January 1857." Does that mean that the magazine Der Bazar was renamed Illustrirte Damen-Zeitung? Or does "Illustrirte Damen-Zeitung" refer to the magazine's subtitle? Thanks, Gatoclass (talk) 15:54, 6 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hello, it should have been "its subtitle was changed to Illustrirte Damen-Zeitung". Thank you for the message, I haven't recognized it, so I will correct it, --Egeymi (talk) 16:36, 6 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
Thanks Egeymi, but I can't complete the review until you have supplied a QPQ. Gatoclass (talk) 05:57, 10 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

That's not a QPQ, it's a list of DYK credits you've been given. Since you have more than five DYK credits, you must provide a QPQ for each new DYK nomination you make. That means that you must review somebody's else's DYK nomination before your own can be approved. Instructions on how to review can be found at WP:DYKR. Thanks, Gatoclass (talk) 15:56, 10 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
Okay thank you Egeymi (talk) 15:58, 10 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Sulayman Ibn Abdullah

edit

Hello Egeymi, I noticed that you reverted an edit (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:MobileDiff/1076691070) .

This should be a mistake since I wrote it more aligned with the sources than the previous version.

What I edited: "He elaborated his grandfather's book, Kitab at Tawhid, interpreting them in the context of Ottoman invasion of Arabian Peninsula. Sulayman's works served as a manual for later Wahhabi scholars to make sense of the major tenets of Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab. Based on Sulayman's approach, Classical Wahhabi scholars would formulate a novel doctrine of Takfir that expanded beyond the traditional paradigm of early Wahhabis and excommunicated most of the political opponents of the Second Saudi state"

Source: QUOTE

"Inspired by ‘Abdullah’s position against the Shi’ite sects, his son Sulayman Ibn ‘Abdullah (1785–1818) devoted his efforts to the work of interpreting the book of al-Tawhid written by his grandfather Muhammad Ibn ‘Abd al-Wahhab.... Sulayman was the first Wahhabi scholar to elab- orate further his grandfather’s notion of kufr and iman on which his successors in Al al-Shaykh later on based their ideas of excommunicating not only the Shi‘ite sects, but also non-Wahhabi Sunnis... Ibn ‘Abd al-Wahhab and his son ‘Abdullah considered the tenets of the Shi‘ites and Zaydis as deviation from Islam. However, they abstained from labelling them kuffar, even though they hinted that such deviation leads to kufr... Unlike in the time of Ibn ‘Abd al-Wahhab, Sulayman witnessed strong Ottoman interference as well as the Egyptian military campaign which led to the gradual dissolution in 1818 of the Wahhabi-Saudi state in Najd.. To defend the Wahhabi creed, Sulayman and other Wahhabi scholars, who had found shelter in some sedentary and nomadic localities, began to articulate a new version of takfir beyond that of the first generation. To a great extent, the new version of takfir involved Al al-Shaykh and other Wahhabi scholars in reinvigorating and giving new meaning to the traditional concept of takfir. They used takfir in order to reconsolidate the Second Saudi State established in 1824 and extended it to include even those scholars who had taken sides with the Egyptians and Ottomans "

END QUOTE

Rest of the pages in the ref elaborate how later Wahhabi scholars acted upon Sulayman's doctrines. So I think it was probably a mistake on your part

Trifon

edit

Trifon (disambiguation) is an excellent name page, but not such a good disambiguation page. Disambiguation pages should simply be a list of articles whose titles can be easily confused with (in this case) Trifon. References and details, such as name information, aren't included.

May I would suggest that the contents of Trifon (disambiguation) be moved to Trifon (given name)? The DAB page could include Trifon, Trifon (given name), Saint Trifon, Tryphon (disambiguation), and All pages with titles containing Trifon. I would be happy to help, if you dont feel like dealing with it. Leschnei (talk)

Gillian White

edit

As there is no primary topic for this name, the disambiguation page was properly at the base title, Gillian White. I'm not sure why you created a new duplicate disambiguation page at Gillian White (disambiguation), but I have turned it into a redirect to the existing disambiguation page. Am I missing something? Were you planning to make one of them into the Primary Topic or something? PamD 18:57, 2 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

I see you also created Horace White (disambiguation) recently: here, there is a different format to use for the dab page because there is a primary topic (I've fixed it), and also the hatnote on the Horace White article needs to be changed to point to the dab page (I've done so). There's no point having a dab page and also a hatnote pointing to two other Horaces: that way, if someone had found a further Horace, like Horace Alton White, they might have added him to the hatnote and not the dab page, or the other way round, and that way leads to muddle all round. I've added him to the dab page. All is now well, but please note how dab pages work. Thanks. PamD 20:54, 2 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
