Kwik-E-Mart edit

I don't think sections that big are needed for those items. All of the images are from various websites, and unless those websites have given their permission, they qualify as fair use. And in this case, the images can easily be replaced by free alternatives (ie. Somebody could go to a 7-Eleven and take similar pictures themselvess).

BTW, thank you for taking and uploading all those pics from Comic-con! ˉˉanetode╦╩ 04:25, 29 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, did you get any other Simpsons ones, or was it just Smith and Groening? Because any others, of the staff and cast would be great. Gran2 11:00, 30 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Where did you take those photographs? Which doughnut outlet is selling them? Wikidudeman (talk) 06:45, 4 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

  • Are you actually wanting to know? Or are you telling me to include that information on the photographs page?CoolKid1993 06:47, 4 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Actually both. I noticed they came from a 7-eleven converted to a "Kwik-e-mart". I wish there was one in my city. Wikidudeman (talk) 06:56, 4 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
    • Well, I added the info to the page. I actually traveled from Indiana, all the way to Denver and Las Vegas and took these pictures. I was actually on my way to Comic Con.CoolKid1993 06:58, 4 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Olivia Munn edit

Hi, I can understand disagreeing with the choice of image (a purely editorial choice), but why do you keep deleting the Commons template from the page? Videmus Omnia Talk 03:00, 25 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'm not sure what you are referring to. The only edits that I have made regarding the Olivia Munn image is reverting your edit on the article to include the picture uploaded by me. I did not edit the Commons template. CoolKid1993 03:02, 25 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
See this edit. You deleted the template. Could you also explain why you reverted the photo? Videmus Omnia Talk 03:05, 25 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
I am not sure why it deleted the template, I had no idea it was even there and have never noticed it. I have no reason to want to delete it, or even know what it is for. I reverted the photo primarily because the photo you uploaded does not belong to you, even though you retrieved permission from the copyright holder, I feel that it would be better if the article included a picture by the person who actually took the photo and would better suit the article. I really have no specific reason though, if you feel that your image is better suited for the article, then you are welcome to use that one. CoolKid1993 03:12, 25 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Can you get images of Aubrey Ankrum and David Winn. N.Flen —Preceding unsigned comment added by N.Flen (talkcontribs) 01:24, August 28, 2007 (UTC)

I could get them off the DVD, if they are really necessary. Those would be the only pictures I would have of them. CoolKid1993 18:58, 28 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Image source problem with Image:Gravel-wiki.jpg edit

Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Gravel-wiki.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the GFDL-self tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as article name or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 02:08, 5 September 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Orphaned non-free media (Image:U4Prez.jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:U4Prez.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Replaceable fair use Image:Lori_Beth_Movie.jpg edit

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Lori_Beth_Movie.jpg. I noticed the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add , without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Fair use rationale for Image:FigureItOutlogo.png edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:FigureItOutlogo.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Unspecified source for Image:Rhodemontijo.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Rhodemontijo.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the GFDL-self tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as article name or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use.

If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 14:24, 10 September 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Videmus Omnia Talk 14:24, 10 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use disputed for Image:Alan Keyes.png edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Alan Keyes.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. B 10:10, 20 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Replaceable fair use Image:Alan_Keyes.png edit

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Alan_Keyes.png.

Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Videmus Omnia Talk 00:26, 2 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Image:Gravel-wiki.jpg edit

Please clarify the status of Image:Gravel-wiki.jpg. I see no evidence of the Creative Commons licence you placed on it on the source page. Did I miss something-- please point it out if so. Also you have it listed as fair use rational and irreplaceable. Note Wikimedia has a number of free licenced images of Mike Gravel. It is YOUR responsibility to accurately determine and list the source and copyright status of any image you upload. Please correct any incorrect information promptly; images may be deleted and uploaders may be blocked for repeat wrong information. If you have any questions you are having a problem finding answers to, ask. -- Infrogmation 22:02, 12 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Do not remove the tags alerting users to concerns about the image. If you don't like the tag, you can either: A) Adress the concerns about the image, which you've already been notified about or B)Replace that image in the article with one of the multiple images of Mike Gravel which we have sourced free licence for. -- Infrogmation 12:40, 15 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

If you really made a vector image of the Nobel Prize medal, please re-upload it as a vector image in SVG format, rather than as a low-res PNG. Thanks. — Richie 20:57, 14 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

I would be glad to reupload the vector image as an SVG file, but I am unsure how to do so. I drew the original picture in CorelDRAW, could you please instruct me on how to do so? CoolKid1993 01:21, 15 October 2007 (UTC) – Copied from User_talk:Richie.Reply
Unfortunately, I don't have any experience with CorelDraw. You could try to export it to SVG format using "File » Save as ..." or "File » Export ..." or similar. Maybe it offers some other useful file formats such as EPS or WMF. If you struggle, feel free to send me your file and I will track down a copy of CorelDraw and work something out. — Richie 20:34, 15 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use/licensing disputed edit

Image:Nobel Prize.png

This image (tracing or copying the image of a Nobel Medal) is not within fair use; please see Image talk:Nobel in Literature.jpg and the discussion page of the image for concerns about its violations of both copyright and trademark; the images of the Nobel Prize medals are still the copyrighted and trademarked properties of the Nobel Foundation. Your claims that this image is your property and the license that you claim for it are both challenged by more than one editor in Image talk:Nobel Prize.png. Please do not replace the Wikipedia Commons image of the Nobel Medal being used in Nobel Prize articles with this image. Thank you. --NYScholar 09:38, 17 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

The use of an image of questionable provenance violates Wikipedia guidelines for "good articles" and creates problems for the articles that you are inserting it in. I have replaced the image with one from Wikipedia Commons because the article it was inserted in had been approved as a "good article" with the Wikipedia Commons image, not with this one. I think this image needs to be removed from Wikipedia. --NYScholar 09:41, 17 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Nobel prize at the top of the infobox edit

This is a copy of the reasons for not having the icon that I left at Talk:Al Gore#Nobel prize icon at top of box.

"Until a few days ago I'd never seen the icon placed in a infobox like that. First of all it's distracting as it, along with his picture, is the first thing you see when the page opens. Next it's useless. Not everybody will know what the icon signifies, and even if they do, it doesn't link to Nobel Peace Prize, so it's not informing anyone of anything. It also overemphasises the award. It says to me that Al Gore (and the others I saw it on) is notable because he won a Nobel prize but in truth he won the prize because he did something notable. Why not add icons for his other awards as well, what about his Emmy Award.? Finally adding things like that will get out of hand. Look at Jimmy Carter, he has a Nobel Prize as well but why not add the seal of Georgia and the Presidential seal aren't they important? If it's in the box then it should be further down with a list so that the award can be linked to."

I hope that explains why I remove them, and for an example of how the boxes would look with other awards included see, User:CambridgeBayWeather/Sandbox. Of course not all the awards can be shown as some have no images and others like the Grammy Award are fairuse images. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 21:13, 14 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

The .svg file (not this user's .png image [see above])--see  --is in many Nobel Laureates' infoboxes in Wikipedia; it is not appropriate to remove the image; the image is one that one clicks on to enlarge in order to read the licensing information. It is a Wikipedia Commons image and appropriate for the articles about Nobel Laureates. It was approved in the "good article" review of Harold Pinter just in the past couple of weeks, e.g. Click on the Wikipedia Commons image there for its licensing information. The image created in its place is not properly described or properly licensed, it appears to me and another editor. --NYScholar 09:50, 17 October 2007 (UTC) [belatedly threaded. --NYScholar 23:51, 18 October 2007 (UTC)]Reply

Notability of Brad Rau edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Brad Rau, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Brad Rau seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Brad Rau, please affix the template hangon to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Image source problem with Image:Tom Vilsack.jpg edit

Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Tom Vilsack.jpg.

If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 02:05, 8 November 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Tom (talk - email) 02:05, 8 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

There isn't any evidence this is an image produced by the Federal Government (state governments have independent licensing policies, typically restrictive). --Tom (talk - email) 04:17, 9 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi - a stub template or category which you created has been nominated for deletion or renaming at Wikipedia:Stub types for deletion. The stub type, which was not proposed at Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Proposals, does not meet the standard requirements for a stub type, either through being incorrectly named, ambiguously scoped, or through failure to meet standards relating to the current stub hierarchy or likely size, as explained at Wikipedia:Stub. Please feel free to make any comments at WP:SFD regarding this stub type, and in future, please consider proposing new stub types first! Grutness...wha? 01:22, 15 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Jiggy.png edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Jiggy.png.

Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 16:35, 19 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Seeing that you've made the maps for the primaries (which I have to say are the best thus far), I wanted to make some suggestions. For both maps Puerto Rico, American Samoa, and the United States Virgin Islands would have to be added, since all three choose delegates for the national conventions. For the Democratic map a box for Democrats Abroad would also need to be added. – Zntrip 04:53, 9 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the edit. Another thing I noticed, which really isn't a big deal is the order of the names at the bottom, I think it would make more since in alphabetical order. And on a superficial note, on the Republican map the initials for New Hampshire is colored, unlike the Democratic one though. And just a heads up, someone will inevitably complain about the color for Alan Keyes. – Zntrip 23:36, 9 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Also, Bill Richardson pulled out of the race today. – Zntrip 00:51, 10 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Excuse me, but what was the problem with the other maps? Soxπed Ninety Three | tcdb 22:15, 10 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
They did not include Puerto Rico, American Samoa, the United States Virgin Islands, and Democrats Abroad, which all have delegates. CoolKid1993 (talk) 22:42, 10 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Could have just posted a message on my talk page, I could have included them. I'm a little annoyed by this, as I put a lot of work into making that map. Soxπed Ninety Three | tcdb 01:32, 11 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

This might sound dumb but on the democratic map could you try to refrain from using the red and blue colors for ANY candidates (and on the republican map when the field gets smaller). I just hate the connotation of the colors and the political views they embody and how they might unduly influence a reader. Perhaps Clinton, Edwards, and Obama can be yellow, green, and orange.....and then make Gravel purple and Kucinich black????

Dem Map by County edit

I went ahead and removed all those mistaken color changes for the TX caucuses on the Democratic Results by County image. Those are far from complete numbers (with the exception of two counties which have been fully reported). As the TX site says, that page is not going to be updated anymore and will remain incomplete until things are prepared for the second step the caucus process later in the month. Though it certainly would look weird to have a map of counties mostly marked as unavailable, that is preferable to having a map of incorrect calls to Obama or Clinton. —Xiibaro (talk) 08:53, 12 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

copyvio on Wikipedia Commons

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add hangon on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

Reporting and removing vandalism is vital to the functioning of Wikipedia and all users are encouraged to revert, warn, and report vandalism. No disrespect intended, but the template for America's Got Talent you made should not also be placed on the Britains Got Talent and the Got Talent series articles, as they aren't specific to America's Got Talent, whereas the template is. If this were the case, we'd have to make templates for every series in every country, and stick them on every got talent article, which I think would be a bit of a mess and completely unncessary Bungle (talkcontribs) 22:12, 19 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Image copyright problem with Image:Citi.svg edit

Image Copyright problem

Hi CoolKid1993!
We thank you for uploading Image:Citi.svg, but there is a problem. Your image is currently missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. Unless you can help by adding a copyright tag, it may be deleted by an Administrator. If you know this information, then we urge you to add a copyright tag to the image description page. We apologize for this, but all images must confirm to policy on Wikipedia.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks so much for your cooperation.

I'm not convinced that you have the power to claim copyright on an image derived from Google Maps. Can you point me to chapter and verse in the terms of service that would back you up on that? It's my suspicion that the subject map is a derivative work that is subject to Google's copyright and therefore incompatible with Wikipedia. --Kbh3rdtalk 03:04, 25 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

SVG logos edit

You've done a great job uploading a ton of SVG logos, but I notice that a few of them contain incorrect fonts. Although ideally SVG is the preferred file format, accuracy has to come first - a rough approximation in SVG is less preferable to the exact logo in PNG, JPG, etc. Quoting from the Wikipedia content guidelines: reasonable diligence should be taken to ensure that the logo is accurate and has a high-quality appearance. If for whatever reason your SVG version isn't a faithful representation of the logo, it's best not to upload it. I don't know if this is any help to you, but the new version (0.46) of Inkscape released a few weeks ago now has the capability to open Acrobat files, from which it is usually easy to create a quality SVG file. Best, Gr1st (talk) 10:54, 28 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

BTW, especially for logos there is no consensus for recreating logos simply to have them in .svg, and, in fact, concerns remain about the appropriateness of doing this. If the proposed replacement has no compelling improvement in its actual design, it's best to leave the current logo in place..WT:L#SVG logos? WP:LOGO Elsendero (talk) 16:45, 28 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Replaceable fair use Image:Sullivan Indiana.png edit

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Sullivan Indiana.png. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add , without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? VegitaU (talk) 21:21, 1 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of Image:Craigslist.svg edit

A tag has been placed on Image:Craigslist.svg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I8 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is available as a bit-for-bit identical copy on the Wikimedia Commons under the same name, or all references to the image on Wikipedia have been updated to point to the title used at Commons.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding hangon to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Gary King (talk) 06:59, 8 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Image copyright problem with Image:America's Got Talent.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:America's Got Talent.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Problem with Portman pic edit

Even if the Portman picture comes from someone who made it publicly available, it's still not appropriate for Wikipedia because (a) it was taken in a setting in which people are often forbidden from taking pictures or (b) the image on the screen may be subject to copyright. There are far too many other pictures of Comic-Con available to bother with such an awkward looking image anyway. Doczilla STOMP! 05:07, 11 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

The article is not about the logo, and the logo is not there for critique or commentary. The article is not an ad for Comic-Con. re:Martha edit

I have done a side by side analysis of the Martha images, and they are not the same. The most obvious differences are the counterform and bowl of the "R" and the crossbar height of the "T". The counterforms on the "A"s, the valley of the "M", and the width of the vertical stroke on the "T" are also not identical. Also, on the actual logo, the white letters bleed into the background, where your SVG has hairlines. The color for this image is ok. As I said with my revert, your SVG is NOT the same thing as the logo. I wasn't reverting out of spite or to be mean to you or anything. I'll ask you to please not re-insert your images into articles unless this matter is cleared up and consensus is to include these images. For official branding, it is very important to accurately represent these logos (and since they are not free to begin with, it is not of the utmost important to have higher quality images, especially in light of the limited use clause of our non-free content policy). For just about anything else, having an exact copy isn't always important in creating SVG conversions. I think you've unfortunately tread into sticky territory. I really feel bad that you've spent a significant amount of time on this, and I really want to encourage you to help out with more pressing graphical needs. So please don't take this personally. -Andrew c [talk] 05:15, 24 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Phoenix transit time edit

Hi coolkid. See [1] from JPL, on page 6 it says that one-way transit time to Mars is 15.3 minutes. This could be rounded to 15 in the article. Cheers Keyed In (talk) 00:36, 26 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Oh, sorry. I was only relaying the information from what was being broadcasted on CNN which, I believe, was saying 16 minutes. CoolKid1993 (talk) 00:45, 26 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Image:McCainObamaMatchupTWIN.png edit

Hi Coolkid. I will assume you are the same person as commons:User:Gage. I have had to revert your changes on Image:McCainObamaMatchupTWIN.png for three, and possibly four reasons :

  1. The new information is simply incorrect. South Carolina, and West Virginia are listed as Obama, whereas neither is.
  2. It is inconsistent. New Mexico has stripes, where other close states are purple.
  3. Perhaps most importantly, it throws out the algorithm, as clearly explained on both en.wikipedia's caption and on the commons description. I personally believe using the latest poll result only is deeply flawed, as there are fluctations. Therefore several are averaged, as explained in the caption.
  4. Possibly as well: the new image will be impossible for anyone else to edit, because it employs complicated Photoshop tools many don't have (and would require expertise even if we had them).

The Evil Spartan (talk) 04:44, 9 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Again, please fix South Carolina and West Virginia, at best. I'd prefer you'd fix all the rest of the map to the algorithm, but I can only pick and choose some. We've had incorrect information up for 24 hours now: I will remove it if it's not fixed shortly. The Evil Spartan (talk) 19:39, 9 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Blocked edit

I have blocked you for your continual uploading of poor quality, copyrighted logos, despite being warned and the report against you on WP:AN. You may be unblocked if you agree that your actions are disruptive, and that you will not upload any more logos that you have designed. You obviously have graphic skills, and there are other avenues in Wikipedia for you to develop graphics for the project. --Stephen 02:51, 12 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Alright, I will not from now on upload any logos that I cannot personally produce from now on. I sincerely apologize for my disruptive actions, and I do agree that I should try to help develop graphics for Wikipedia instead. CoolKid1993 (talk) 02:54, 12 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
I'm going to unblock you on that promise. I need you to go back through your uploads, revert any article changes that you have made to replace existing logos, and tag your logos for speedy deletion with db-g7, which is a user requested deletion. --Stephen 21:25, 12 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
Can you also notify me of any previous fair use logos that were deleted because they were replaced by your logos. In other words, when you undo your changes if any images show as a red link then let me know. --Stephen 06:05, 13 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Image source problem with Image:Lincoln Motors.svg edit

Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Lincoln Motors.svg.

If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 04:06, 17 June 2008 (UTC). Blocked again edit

I've blocked you again as, despite your promises, you continue to upload your own logos, such as Image:Xbox 360 logo.svg. --Stephen 22:48, 1 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

I created that image before I was blocked, back in May even. I did not just upload it. How does that require me to be blocked? It makes absolutely no sense. The only reason it is listed in my recent contributions is because I forgot to add the Template:Inkscape to the article, to prevent you from making me list the source, so that when I did, and you found it was made in Inkscape, then you could delete it. And besides, some of the logos you deleted weren't even created by hand. Some of them were created by using a "webding"-type font. For example, Dragonair's logo, wasn't drawn by hand. Neither was KLM's. So, I have no idea how they could be "poo copies" when they were taken from an actual image of the logo, pasted into a font making program, and used in Inkscape. CoolKid1993 (talk) 23:48, 1 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
What makes no sense to me is why they've waited so long to block you after repeated warnings and notices. -- VegitaU (talk) 23:50, 1 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
What have I done to be blocked after I was blocked the first time? I have not done anything regarding the reason why I was originally blocked. I have not tried to upload any new SVGs, I have not tried to readd them to any articles, I have not done anything to defy Stephen's reasoning for my first blocking, in which I promised him I would not upload any new logos, and I have not. Unblock Request edit

Your request to be unblocked has been granted for the following reason(s):

Yes, this was an error on my part for which I apologise. I misread the N against the XBox logo. I would still apreciate if you can tag all of your self-created logos for deletion, as I requested earlier.

Request handled by: Stephen 01:27, 20 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I was recently blocked for "uploading poor quality SVG logos" back around June, and was unblocked just a few days later because I complied with the blocking administrator's, Stephen, request to discontinue uploading logos. Well, a few weeks passed by. I never uploaded any more logos, but I had been getting these notices from a Template that was being put on the images that I uploaded by I presume Stephen asking me to list the source of where the image had came from. So I edited the image pages that were being flagged, and added the Inkscape template to the images that I was being alerted for uploading. So, a few more notices went by, and finally I decided in good faith to just begin to fix and include the Inkscape template on images that had to be flagged, so I could prevent the Talk Page notice that was being sent to me, and so that the image could be deleted if it were to be in question where the source of the file was coming from, and so I finally decided to add the template to the image Image:Xbox 360 logo.svg, and was then blocked for supposedly "uploading" this image, when I had actually uploaded it just over a month before I had been blocked and warned by Stephen. And so that is what I was blocked for. Check my contributions, check the image histories, and you will see that I have not uploaded any SVG logos since I was blocked the first time. Please review this case as closely as possible. I really have no intention whatsoever to continue anything that involves the reason that I was given for being blocked, especially now that Comic-Con is coming up, and I would like to be able to contribute photos that I will be taking of any people in need of a free image of someone in there article here on Wikipedia, just as I did last year. Thank you for reading, and sorry for making it a little longer than you advised in the Block guideline. CoolKid1993 (talk) 20:13, 19 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

What mainly annoys us about the long unblock requests is that usually they're rants that have little or nothing to do with the block. Your request addresses the block without getting angry or throwing accusations, etc., so while it is a little longer than most, I don't mind reading it.
Having reviewed your request, your contributions, and upload log, I'm not seeing any major problems with the images you have recently uploaded. I think this was a misunderstanding on Stephen's part, but I'm going to contact him so he can take a second look at things. It's up to him, essentially - he set the condition for your first unblock, so it's up to him to decide if you still meet that. Hang on a little longer. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

2008 Summer Olympics medal table edit

Could you please stop updating the table one medal at a time? It confuses and throws off the rest of us. -- Scorpion0422 02:26, 16 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sorry. I usually try to do them all at once, but I usually end up getting the edit conflict message if I do all three at once. I'll try to get all three medals in next time before I submit. CoolKid1993 (talk) 02:28, 16 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
The point is not to do it quickly, the point is to do it right. You need to add all 3 medals, adjust the national placings accordingly, update the totals at the bottom, and add which event you updated for. Similar to what I did here. -- Scorpion0422 02:36, 16 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
I understand. Thank you for the notice. CoolKid1993 (talk) 02:38, 16 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your belated logo-exchange rationale edit

From perusing the official website I simply hadn't recognized this logo you'd replaced my "nicer" one with! But with your explanation I've now come to be half-way convinced that maybe you're right and your more generic one might actually partake more of the status of the Obama-Biden campaign's "permanent" logo, as opposed, as you said, to a "one-time version" of the fancier one. (Should they keep the nicer one up indefinately, I'll go back to believing to myself that my original impression was right, though!)    Justmeherenow (  ) 10:32, 23 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of Image:KMart.svg edit

A tag has been placed on Image:KMart.svg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia.

Sdrtirs (talk) 01:41, 29 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

This logo, or text depicted in it, is in the public domain because typefaces, individual words, slogans, and simple geometric shapes are not eligible for copyright. See WP:PD#Fonts or Template talk:PD-textlogo for more information.
Please note that there may be non-copyright restrictions protecting this image, such as trademarks and design patents if it is a logo.

The above is not an official Wikipedia box. The logo in question is NOT in the public domain, it is a poorly designed imitation of the official Kmart logo which is a registered trademark of the Kmart of Michigan unit of Sears Holdings Corporation. The USPTO registration number is 3048959. I have scanned and uploaded the official logo in the Kmart article with the proper fair use rationale for company logos. Yes, the imitation can be speedy deleted. CoolKid has a history of uploading poorly designed logos replacing official logos with proper fair use rationales. CoolKid got busted by Wikipedia administrators for the logo he created for Whirlpool Corporation which looked much worse than the Kmart logo in question. Discussion about your edits edit

here. It seems to me that you have been given good advice in the past, but haven't taken it. Any editor is entitled to question your edits, and rebuffing them without discussion, as you did above, is not helpful. --Rodhullandemu 23:19, 14 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Alright, understood. I've submitted a minor query to the article discussion, and would appreciate input. CoolKid1993 (talk) 23:42, 14 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
Follow-up: I was pretty much in the dark as to what the issue was, but you should have been notified of the discussion. That's why I asked for diffs on the noticeboard. This page, however, is full of warnings about image copyrights, and you should be sure you know what images can be used here, and how. Having said that, it would help if you archive those notices to a subpage maybe here and that would shorten the page. In general, you need to be able to give a reason for your edits, and if you don't, other editors will just delete them. Let me know if you have any questions. Cheers --Rodhullandemu 01:43, 15 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Images edit

What was the source for this png image? --Stephen 00:06, 15 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hmm..Not sure, actually. It was on some other site not affiliated with Blendtec, but I am unable to find it. If there is a copyright issue with not listing the source, then revert the image to the first image, and source that version of the image from Blendtec's site. CoolKid1993 (talk) 00:16, 15 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
Nevermind, did it myself. I'm not sure if that is the right source for that image though, because for some reason I keep getting a "Page cannot be displayed" message, no matter how many times I refresh their sites. If it isn't that specific site, then it's probably this one. CoolKid1993 (talk) 00:26, 15 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
As the issue is a company logo, it must include a formal fair use rationale to be acceptable in Wikipedia. You should have known this a long, long, time ago, but you seem to be ignoring it. Steelbeard1 (talk) 00:53, 15 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
It did. CoolKid1993 (talk) 01:15, 15 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
No, I said formal fair use rationale using the template found at Template:Non-free use rationale. Steelbeard1 (talk) 02:48, 15 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
The issue, the one you have been previously blocked for, is that you are again creating poor copies of copyrighted logos. The versions on the web sites are jpgs, so you need to show where you found a png file online, and therefore show that you didn't create it yourself. --Stephen 02:01, 15 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
Please can you respond to this, as it seems that you are creating your own logos again. --Stephen 20:35, 16 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for uploading Image:Macy's.svg.

Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:16, 17 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hello CoolKid1993! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 2 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to insure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. if you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 941 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the unreferencedBLP tag. Here is the list:

Proposed deletion of Gregg Mayles edit

The article Gregg Mayles has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No evidence of notability per WP:BIO

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. andy (talk) 13:50, 3 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Alan Lau edit

Please do not make statements attacking people or groups of people. Wikipedia has a strict policy against personal attacks. Attack pages and images are not tolerated by Wikipedia and are speedily deleted. Users who continue to create or repost such pages and images in violation of our biographies of living persons policy will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Thank you.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Proposed deletion of Frank McEnulty edit

The article Frank McEnulty has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

NN would-be politician who never got more than 800 votes in an alleged *national* campaign (a total that would be considered below the radar in a *municipal* campaign). No evidence of notability proffered.

Your draft article, Draft:Katie Rodan edit

Hello, CoolKid1993. It has been over six months since you last edited your Articles for Creation draft article submission, "Katie Rodan".

In accordance with our policy that Articles for Creation is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the db-afc or db-g13 code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Boomer VialHolla! We gonna ball! 05:15, 15 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Steve Purnick edit

Hello CoolKid1993,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Steve Purnick for deletion, because it doesn't appear to contain any encyclopedic content. Take a look at our suggestions for essential content in short articles to learn what should be included.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

Speedy deletion nomination of Steve Purnick edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Steve Purnick requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0700923/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. PamD 21:46, 12 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Ken Pontac edit

The article Ken Pontac has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. File copyright problem with File:Nobel Prize-diagram.png edit

Thank you for uploading File:Nobel Prize-diagram.png. However, it is currently missing information on its copyright and licensing status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can verify that it has an acceptable license status and a verifiable source. Please add this information by editing the image description page. You may refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 11:25, 8 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of File:SamBrownback.jpg edit

The file File:SamBrownback.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

unused, low-res, no obvious use

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Conservative Party of Canada.svg edit

Thank you for uploading File:Conservative Party of Canada.svg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.
