Regarding the message on your user page

I think you are confused as to the significance of the SHA-512 hash were your account to be compromised. No user should be "keeping" the original string at this point, as you seem to imply. However, in the case of being compromised, you should be able to give that string to any trusted user who can then check it against the hash. AWB

I'm sorry, I don't understand...AWB is showing me an edit count of only 15 edits per minute, and I know for a fact that I cannot be doing 89 a minute. That's more than one a second, and I'm clicking the mouse manually, which I cannot do more than once every two or three seconds.

I'm sorry if recent changes is being flooded, but I don't know how to stop the flood if I don't have an accurate count on my end. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 21:13, 25 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hrmm. Wikichecker is wrong - I'm not editing 89 pages a minute. However, it's possible that AWB is pinging 89 pages a minute, and ignoring the ones that don't require editing. So AWB is registering false edits, in essence - might that be possible? I assure you, I'm not using a bot at all. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 21:16, 25 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
No worries - just as long as everything is in order. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 21:17, 25 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Your request for rollback

Hi Cncplayer. After reviewing your request for rollback, I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! FASTILY (TALK) 23:24, 25 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Regarding the edit to CTS, CTS is an AV industry certification. There is no agenda or advertising, the point was to inform those who wonder what that ", CTS" at the end of someone's name might mean. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.8.206.124 (talk) 00:49, 19 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Sockpuppet an ip?

You do realize that a single ip account can't be considered a sock puppet of a logged in user. There is no rule that says anyone must log in to edit Wikipedia. If there was, many a user would be considered socking, simply for forgetting to log in.--JOJ Hutton 21:44, 29 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

There are ere are exceptions to that - big ones - and I've blocked dozens of them. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 08:42, 30 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

PERM

Hi Cncplayer. We appreciate your enthusiasm, but I'm just pointing out that Wikipedia:Requests for permissions/Rollback is not an RfA-style voting page and unless there is a compelling reason, there is no need there for nao that do not contribute to the decision that admins will make and for which they already have more tools than non admins for checking on users' editing histories. Thanks. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 08:42, 30 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, I was just trying to contribute my two cents like the others did. Command and Conquer Expert! speak to me...review me... 16:59, 30 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

I appreciate the sentiment, CNC, but I'm not in a huge rush to do it again soon. Maybe in the future, but I have a lot of things to think about before I would seriously consider it. Until then, I will work to earn the confidence you expressed in my editing. Cheers. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 04:06, 13 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

FYI

Re your recent reports to UAA, there has to be indisputable evidence that a name is a problem before it's reported. Like in a court of law where somebody is not guilty unless there are things that prove it. It's not enough that something 'looks' like a violation. Why do you think the WMF user is lying? Did you look at their global contributions? And we only block promo names if there is proof the account represents an organization. i.e., there needs to be edits or logs you can cite that prove the user is linked to the group. Always remember that people can be insulted if you report them when their name is fine to begin with. Like they would if they were arrested by a police officer after doing nothing wrong. Respectfully. NTox · talk 06:38, 13 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Regarding the WMF user, I had gone back to check their global account after reporting, but my phenomenal internet crashed out on me. As for the the other user, a google search turned up [1]. Command and Conquer Expert! speak to me...review me... 06:53, 13 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
It's all about evidence. And it's gotta be on-wiki evidence. So even if you run into the most unique name you have ever seen, and the only Google results in the entire engine show a company by that name, there still has to be proof on Wikipedia that the account represents that company. Such proof might include edits about the company itself, about a trade very closely related, etc. Thus, if the account has no edits or log entries at all, it can't be reported no matter how obviously promotional it seems. The burden of proof is really, really high for promotional usernames because we presume that people are innocent (note the similarity to WP:AGF). And you mentioned checking the WMF account 'after' reporting, but the time to have done that was 'before' reporting. I don't think the guy will end up being a fake myself. NTox · talk 07:29, 13 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
In the end, it comes down to the administrator's decision. The RS Customs LA account was blocked because I provided a website with the exact same name as the user account. Coincidence? I think not. I manually undid the reporting of the WMF user (he is legitimate). Humans are imperfect and sometimes make quick decisions. I have been in the reporting business here for 1 and a half years and not every single one of my reports has gone through (although I can say the majority of mine do). However, thank you for bringing your concerns to me. I will try to be a bit more careful with my reporting. I just came back from a 5-6 month wikibreak and need to get used to things again. Command and Conquer Expert! speak to me...review me... 00:31, 14 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for responding well. Username issues certainly aren't the biggest deal in the world of course. I just like to do what I can to ensure newcomers are treated appropriately. I would only add that it is true that administrative discretion prevails, but only if it complies with predetermined consensus. There have been discussions at WT:U about blocking names as promo violations without edits, so that block should not have happened. At least it was a soft block. I'll consider bringing this up to that admin. NTox · talk 06:18, 14 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
I wouldn't worry about that block. I would have soft blocked without disabling account creation so they could make a new account without a promotional username. I see admins do it all the time. Command and Conquer Expert! speak to me...review me... 06:22, 14 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Please stop making these edits

Please stop making changes like [2], [3], [4] and [5]. These edits are a waste of time and take up space on someone's watch list. Do note though, you may make those edits if you are also making an appropriate change to the page. :) -- Cheers, Riley 17:40, 6 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

The only reason I am making those edits is for AWB access (I was recommended to do 200 more minor edits by 2 editors, including an admin if I wanted AWB access). I'm sorry if you happen to be watch-listing all of those pages I have been editing, but once I get about 120 more of those edits, I will go back to my usual vandal-fighting habits (and AWB usage if I get it). Command and Conquer Expert! speak to me...review me... 01:34, 7 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
I don't think you understand, those edits should not be made and I strongly hope you do not make 120 more of those edits; if you do, it will even decrease your chances of getting AWB access because one of the AWB rules is Do not make insignificant or inconsequential edits. An edit that has no noticeable effect on the rendered page is generally considered an insignificant edit. So please make some useful minor edits instead, like copy editing or go do some work at Category:Wikipedia template parameter issues because any edit made there is a minor edit. :) -- Cheers, Riley 01:39, 7 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

The statement you left at Wikipedia:Requests_for_adminship/Nthep#Neutral is useless. If you need questions answered either wait for the questions to be asked and answered or ask questions yourself and wait for them to be answered. Better yet use the editor's history to review how they act on a normal basis. Anyone can {if they want) answer every question perfectly and not mean a single bit of it. If on a day to day basis they act the way you think an admin should act then support, if not either neutral or oppose. Telling the community that you haven't made up your mind yet is useless to everyone. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.126.38.235 (talk) 13:10, 24 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

It may not serve much purpose, but it's a hell of a lot less disruptive than some of the other stupidity that occurs at RfA. Isn't this a bit of an over-reaction? --Demiurge1000 (talk) 16:28, 24 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
