Thanks for reviewing and commenting. As I've just written on your talk page, I've made the edits that should solve this showing more of notability and that it is far from a single local event. Avbgok (talk) 10:12, 28 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Nathan Yau

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Nathan Yau requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. ZaaraTE (talk) 12:20, 7 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

ZaaraTE, hello, this is to inform you I have claimed significance and importance of the Nathan Yau subject in response to your speedy deletion nomination. Please review it on the Talk:Nathan_Yau page and since the subject is important, notability is shown, and the article meet Wikipedia requirements to such articles, consider removing the tag and getting involved in constructive editing if you feel more information is needed as well as want and have time for that. Thanks for your time and efforts. Avbgok (talk) 13:15, 7 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
Just to confirm the issue is now resolved and the tag has been removed by Interstellarity, and ZaaraTE who initially inserted the tag agreed that the article does not meet A7 and that the tag be removed. Thank you. Avbgok (talk) 14:59, 7 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of AnyChart

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on AnyChart, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. jaclar0529 (talk) 11:11, 9 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

Jaclar0529 hello, I created this article about AnyChart (among several other articles I created about JS libaries and other subjects these datys) as and consider it to be a legitimate article which cannot be subject to speedy deletion in particular on the basis of G11. The article cannot be considered 'exclusively promotional', and moreover, it describes the subject from a neutral point of view (I do not have another point of view here as in any other article that I have created so far, only neutral) and, in particular, G11 says that "Any article that describes its subject from a neutral point of view does not qualify for this criterion." Please remove your nomination for speedy deletion as it unwarranted. If you feel any edits are needed, let's work on improving it together, because that is what Wikipedia is all about as I understand it. Thanks. Avbgok (talk) 11:40, 9 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
The article has already been deleted. I suggest you talk to the deleting administrator, which in this case is RHaworth, as I cannot assist you further. -jaclar0529 (talk) 11:50, 9 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

From glancing at RHaworth's Talk page, this editor appears open to reconsidering/restoring article deletions. My advice is be patient. Criticizing the person who did the Speedy Deletion nomination does not help. David notMD (talk) 13:55, 9 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your opinion. By the way, thank you also for your great help with the Nathan Yau article which now looks much better thanks to your recent edits. I am currently looking into it to see how to improve it maybe some more based on your line. Honestly, I did not want to hurt or criticize the person who did the speedy deletion nomination other than saying the nomination itself was wrong, then just saw that fact and decided to mention it thinking that it might help RHaworth to notice it for the consequent proper assessment of it. Feeling quite upset that I had put efforts in the AnyChart article and I consider the subject to be not less notable than anything else I created or edited here on Wikipedia, and I believe this article was not less neutral (and not more advertising) than anything else I created or edited here on Wikipedia. Everyone, sorry anyway, I did not mean anything bad. Just was too hasty. Everything is to be assessed by more experienced editors than me, of course. Hopefully it will be restored as I think it deserves it so together we can improve it further by better structuring it to start with, and so on. Avbgok (talk) 14:10, 9 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
Hello, I come here from the Teahouse, having looked at your post on Talk:RHaworth in which you include the statement I am close to considering the deletion of AnyChart vandalism or error. I urge you to strike that sentence (like this) as an indication that you no longer assert it. It soes not help your case. Also, in case the article is restpored, i ahve a few commetns on the first few sources cited in the articel as it was just before deletion.
  • The first two sources ar not in English, so i cannot evaluate them. There is nothign wrong with that, but it limits which reviewers will consider those sources.
  • The third, from Insights Success is largely an interview, and so does not help much with Notability
  • The fourth is froim the product's own site, and so is not independent and so contributes nothing to notability
  • The fifth and sixth were both articels by one of the creators of the software, part of the same series of articles, and so are again not independent.
Those six sources were all cited to support the first paragraph, in a group, and none of the four in English is an independent source. This would raise suspicion in any reviewer here. Be aware of this for the future. DES (talk)DESiegel Contribs 18:56, 9 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
Hello DES Thank you so much for your attention and suggestions. Appropriate evaluation of the sources is likely to be maybe the most important part here to become a good editor as I understand. I see your point about those six sources. I found a draft of that article in my user sandbox as I generally used my user sandbox before getting to working with every real article draft in order to avoid making a mess on real Wikipedia pages (luckily, as I can see it now, although it is not the final version because I obviously made edits afterward, but close to it, I guess, especially in terms of mentioning the sources). So, please, can you be so kind to help me figure out if I am right thinking that the following sources are reliable and independent, and therefore, help with notability?
  • The first abstract, which is more general, can actually be based on the following sources (with some alterations to the text because I did not find the number "90 chart types" in them, for example, only "68"):[10][11][12][13]
  • I noticed your words that you could not evaluate the following sources as they are non-English sources, one German and one French, but as far as I understand these languages and also with the additional help of Google and Google Translate they should work fine, at least these are likely to be editorial pieces on popular media, also showing the international scale in case it can contribute to the meaningfulness:[14][15]
  • And these are good citations for the part about Oracle building their APEX charting on the AnyChart technology:[16][17][18]
  • And these are likely to be also appropriate in the "award" part, right?[19][20][21][22][23][24]
I would not necessarily use all of them. If (or when) the article is restored, I think it will be a good idea for me to look at what is written there in reality and then look into these sources again to make sure I do not use too much of them for nothing, only where needed. For now, I just want to see if I am on the right path in getting a better understanding of how to evaluate sources, mainly, if you can help me with that and have time and desire, of course. Then I have some other articles created by me where I would like to correct the issues with sources too base on this better understanding I am seeking. (Thanks anyway as your constructive participation is already helpful.) Avbgok (talk) 21:21, 9 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
  • First of all, I see that RHaworth has restored the text, but moved it to Draft:AnyChart. It seems that he thinks this is not yet ready for the main article space, and i can't say that I disagree. In Draft you can work on the text until you think it is ready, then ask for a review. (However, if you leave it totally untouched for 6 months or more while it is in draft, it could be deleted as "abandoned".)
  • Next, layoutA well-developed Wikipedia article normally has a "lead section" with no header. This serves as an introduction to and a summery of the main body of the article, not unlike the abstract of a scientific paper. Ideally, any information in the lead will also appear in the body, although that does not always happen, particularly in a short article. In a short article the lead section will usually be one or two paragraphs. In a longer articel it may have 3-5. The first sentence is the lead sentence, and it sjhould identify and roughly define the topic, generally in the form "X is a Y."
  • The body will consist of several sections on different sub-topics, depending on the exact content of the article. each section will have a section header. The longer the article, generally the larger the number of sections. If facts from the body are also mentioned in the lead, they need not be cited separately in the lead unless they are surprising or controversial, or are direct quotations or possibly negative facts about a living person. Thos need to be cited anywhere that they appear.
  • As to non-English sources, they can indeed be used to establish notability, or for any other purpose fo which English-language sources may be used. The only rule is that if teo sources are of riughly equal quality, and support the same satement(s) the English-language one is normally preferred. But if the non-English source is of significantly better quality, or is particularly important, or is the only source for a particualr relevant statement, it can and should be used.
  • Please don't think in terms of "I want to find a source to support statement X." Think "I have Sources A, B, C, and D" what facts do that contain that I can but into the article?" In particular, the exact number of 90 chart types might be important to a marketing brochure, but not to a Wikipedia article, unless tha tis especially what the product is known for, and that is a major claim to fame, it should easily be soiurce in multiple places. If there are redundant sources for a statement, one ,might use two, but four or more is generaly a mistake. It overburdens the reader and the reviewer.
  • I think you are on a better path now, lets see wha tyou can do with it in draft space. DES (talk)DESiegel Contribs 22:31, 9 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
DES, thank you very much for advice. I tried to implement all you said and everything else I have read and learned here and there so far. It was also interesting for me to notice there is some older history of that article now visible that I had not seen when creating this article initially these days. Well, please take a look if you can and I will be glad to hear what you think and whether I am on the right path and how to possibly improve it next: Draft:AnyChart. Thanks. RGraph

edit

Hi there,

Thank you for creating a Wikipedia page about RGraph (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RGraph). Would you mind if I added more information to it and fleshed it out?

Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Richard heyes (talkcontribs) 18:03, 28 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hi Richard heyes. Thanks for asking. I see you wrote on your user talk page that you are the author of the RGraph library, in this way declaring a conflict of interest (COI) regarding that subject, whereas COI editing is strongly discouraged here on Wikipedia. In such cases, it is generally advised to refrain from editing such articles directly, and if you see that any edits are needed you should request updates that are necessary from your point of view on the Talk:RGraph page. See Wikipedia:Conflict of interest for more information. Thank you. Avbgok (talk) 09:27, 30 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
Hi again, I've removed some content that I think sounded too promotional and added an Infobox to the page like the one on the d3js page. How is this? (BTW that IP address making edits was just me on a different PC)

Proposed deletion of RGraph

edit

The article RGraph has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Some mentions in passing but not seeing any reliable review that's in-depth. Seems to fail WP:NSOFTWARE.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 13:38, 8 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

Thanks you for the notice. I will proceed with this. Avbgok (talk) 08:43, 9 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
