By some bizarre stroke of misfortune, I was elected to the committee a few years ago. Half way through my term, I wrote an essay about my thoughts on the committee. The short version is that the job fucking sucks. The jobs sucks a bit less when everyone on the team is active and pulling their weight. Because of this, I am biased towards people who have a history of working on the project in high stress-low reward positions such as clerking, CU/OS, being one of the people that runs the FA process, etc. There are 11 positions so I am going to be voting for 11 or less candidates. Everyone else will get an oppose or neutral.

Thoughts edit

These are my initial thoughts.

Strong Support edit

  1. Worm That Turned (talk · message · contribs · page moves · edit summaries · count · api · logs · block log · email)
WTT is a sane and skillful arb that knows how to navigate complex situations with diplomacy and grace.
  2. Casliber (talk · message · contribs · page moves · edit summaries · count · api · logs · block log · email)
Cas is a strong voice for the content creators on the committee. He has been great in the job in the past.
  3. KrakatoaKatie (talk · message · contribs · page moves · edit summaries · count · api · logs · block log · email)
Katie was one of the more reasonable people on the committee this term
  4. Xeno (talk · message · contribs · page moves · edit summaries · count · api · logs · block log · email)
If Xeno wants another term, I am more than happy to give it to him
  5. Newyorkbrad (talk · message · contribs · page moves · edit summaries · count · api · logs · block log · email)
I guess the committee needs a lawyer on it... (jk; jk) Brad will always have my vote
  6. David Fuchs (talk · message · contribs · page moves · edit summaries · count · api · logs · block log · email)
Like Cas, David is another dual-hatted former arb that has written a bunch of content. I liked him in the past and nothing has changed.

Weak Support edit

  1. Isarra (talk · message · contribs · page moves · edit summaries · count · api · logs · block log · email)
Isarra wants you to think that she is a perennial joke candidate that is doing this for the laughs. What her userpage, edit count, and enwikipedia permissions log don't tell you is that she is a highly trusted designer/css guru. Beyond Winter/Timeless, Isarra has been answering questions and being helpful on IRC for close to a decade. In all of my interactions with her, she has come across as a level-headed person who deeply cares about how projects are run. Give her a chance.
  2. SoWhy (talk · message · contribs · page moves · edit summaries · count · api · logs · block log · email)
SoWhy has been clueful in the past and helps out with the Library.
  3. Bradv (talk · message · contribs · page moves · edit summaries · count · api · logs · block log · email)
I have been impressed with Bradv's time on the clerk team.
  4. Maxim (talk · message · contribs · page moves · edit summaries · count · api · logs · block log · email)
His response to Beeblebrox's question shows self reflection. I hope he brings an outside perspective
  1. With LB's withdraw, Beeblebrox gets bumped up to the weak support column

Neutral edit

All three of these candidates seems reasonable, but I haven't seen them in a trusted role before.

Oppose edit

Hard Pass edit

"I rarely take wiki breaks and I'm online almost 24/7" is a recipe for flaming out. The only way to survive a 2 year term is to take regular breaks
