Format shamelessly filched from User:The Rambling Man/Arbcom voting guide. I believe we should be aiming for the majority of arbitrators to be new to the role. The current committee has not covered itself in glory for many years and therefore my threshold for endorsing candidates with previous Committee experience is far higher than my threshold for new candidates. As we have 4 standing arbitrators I therefore will only recommend you vote for a handful of further ex/current-Arbs; these are Casliber, Newyorkbrad, Thryduulf, and Xeno (and I don't really count Xeno as his one run on the Committee was so long ago). I may recommend more than 11 candidates if I feel more than 11 are viable candidacies that would improve the function of the Arbitration Committee.

Endorsements are subject to change until voting opens. Views are my own and a lack of an endorsement does not necessarily mean I think you are a bad person. I respect all candidates very much for putting themselves forwards under such scrutiny with the intent of serving our community.

Name Notes Vote
Gadfium We need some good content creators willing to get stuck in to meta issues with that perspective and I have no doubt Gadfium would make a strong arbitrator. Yes
RichWales Insufficiently active in recent times. No
Beeblebrox Did not set the world on fire during his first run on Arbcom and not yet really seeing how he deserves a second turn, but has always come across well outside of his arb role. Answers to questions to date are perfunctory and lack insight. This is probably the closest 'no' to being a yes. Weak no
Worm That Turned This election is an opportunity for things to be done differently. Nobody is in any doubt that Arbcom needs to improve and change, and appointing a significant number of former and current Arbitrators to the new committee will prevent that happening. I therefore believe there are very few previous arbitrators that deserve another run, however WTT is one of them. Smart, active, unfailingly polite, friendly, hard-working. I admired his stances during Framgate. Yes
Hawkeye7 Absolutely not, the attention-seeking behaviour that led to his desysopping was beyond the pale and I would not trust his judgment. Firm no
Casliber While I feel we should be looking to minimize the number of ex-Arbs getting yet another turn at things, Cas is a strong candidate and I can't really say no. Excellent answers to questions. I also like that he is not particularly keen to be on the committee (see here) but I feel that the new Committee would be better with Cas on it than it would without him. Yes
Lord Roem Insufficiently active in recent times. Around 600 edits in the past two years does not lead me to believe Lord Roem would have a sufficient grasp of current community norms and expectations, despite what he may say in his candidacy statements and questions, which are all very well done. No
Barkeep49 While many would have some concerns over his relatively small amount of experience compared to some of our more august candidates, I have seen that Barkeep49 is a very competent administrator and a nice chap, and I've never seen anything to make me question his dedication or judgement. Yes
Bradv Insufficient experience and comes across a bit militant as an administrator. No
Thryduulf I have always found Thryduulf to be one of the most sensible and smart editors and administrators out there, and usually find myself nodding in agreement with the points he makes. Yes
Laser brain Seems fine, not really encountered Laser brain but has never been an arb before (+1), is active (+1) and is heavily involved in content creation/curation (+1) Yes
Xeno While Xeno has been an arbitrator before, it was a long time ago and I think he has remained sufficiently active and demonstrated enough intelligence and capacity for compromise that I think he deserves to be stuck on the committee again. Yes
Isarra I've always found it sad when someone tries so hard to be funny, but isn't. Don't be silly
KrakatoaKatie Current and former arbitrators need to be kept to a minimum in the new committee in order to effect any real change, and only exceptional people would be exceptions to this rule. Katie has not demonstrated at any point while on the committee that she deserves another run at the expense of someone else. No
Newyorkbrad Absolutely. Yes
The Rambling Man Will inevitably fall out with half his fellow arbitrators, but this will be useful, as TRM usually falls out with people who are in the wrong. Abrasive and rude, but ceaselessly active and cares far more than most about the fact we're supposed to be building an encyclopedia, and I am going to make a massive assumption - that he will be able to temper his words and work collaboratively. I doubt he will be elected but I'll vote for him, anything that shakes up the moribund current state of things is worth trying. Yes
David Fuchs Current and former arbitrators need to be kept to a minimum in the new committee in order to effect any real change, and only exceptional people would be exceptions to this rule. No
Llywrch An experienced long-term contributor who I feel is deserving of a spot on the new Committee. Yes
Maxim Maxim is one of the more thoughtful and insightful administrators we have, has also served as a bureaucrat for some time, I believe he would make a fine arbitrator. Yes
SoWhy Always been impressed with SoWhy and think he'd make a fine arbitrator. Yes
Kudpung Doing his best to destroy both the RFA process and the Signpost, demonstrably incapable of being calm, neutral, or collaborative. An easy and definite no. Firm no
Calidum While being an administrator is not and should not be a prerequisite for running for arbcom, what it does provide is evidence of making difficult decisions, collaboration, maintaining neutrality, and so on. In the absence of that kind of experience you would need to be a truly standout candidate. Calidum has a pleasing pattern to his candidacies and I look forward to his 2022 bid. No
DGG Current and former arbitrators need to be kept to a minimum in the new committee in order to effect any real change, and only exceptional people would be exceptions to this rule. No
Enterprisey Enterprisey's undoubted technical skills are not a requirement for the role; that doesn't mean arbitrators can't have technical knowhow but it does mean that can't be all they bring to the table. Technical ability is the main thing he offers in his statement and that doesn't really demonstrate suitability to be an arbitrator. I suspect he would be of more help at this time in a support role. No
