Proposed merge of Dalia seera into Halva edit

I wasn't able to find any sources for a notable article under this itle but the Census of India says seera is a "liquid form of halva" Spudlace (talk) 22:12, 3 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

I'd oppose until Dalia seera meets the notability guidelines and its other issues. That article doesn't even have any corresponding images on Wikimedia Commons. Knightoften (talk) 10:07, 23 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
Maybe PROD would be better. Spudlace (talk) 10:27, 23 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

De-prodding by Andrew Davidson edit

This was de-prodded by User:Andrew Davidson. @Andrew Davidson:, please explain why you deprodded without following any of the recommendations at WP:DEPROD to improve the article. There was objection to merge because of lack of reliable sources in the article. A WP:BEFORE check was done before nomination. Why do we have a proposed deletion function if one editor can unilaterally deprod community proposals without explanation? Spudlace (talk) 00:38, 1 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

AfD nomination edit

Andrew Davidson has not explained the reason for deprodding, and my own WP:BEFORE check revealed that "Dalia Seera" is a composite of two languages, Marathi (Sheera) and Hindi (Dalia), with no evidence of notability, so I have nominated the article for deletion here: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Dalia seera. Split edit

Is there objection to a split for this article? The article covers two unrelated topics that share the name halvah. One is the toasted flour/starch version found in different forms throughout many world cuisines and the other is the sesame seed based candy. We usually prefer to have one article per topic when it's not redundant. Spudlace (talk) 06:12, 21 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
