Glorifying Colonialism edit

This entire article has a glowing view of colonialism, and also gets a few facts wrong. For instance, "After Indian independence, he left for Rhodesia, where he died in 1949." Rhodesia didn't exist until the declaration of Uniterally Declared Independence on November 11 1965. From 1953 to 1963 the territory was part of the [of Rhodesia and Nyasaland], where Rhodesia refers to what are now Zimbabwe and Zambia. Rhodesia became Zimbabwe in April 1980. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MrSativa (talkcontribs) 05:09, 13 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia has to follow the available sources which are likely to reflect the views and attitudes of contemporaries and, especially, of those contemporaries who made it into print. And - this being the English language version of Wikipedia - there is a natural preference for sources in the English language. But I have tried to address the anachronism which you highlight. Feel free to tweak my amendment if you have a more accurate description in mind. Beyond that, if you can access additional plausible sources that give a more balanced and, to the extent possible, "future-proofed" entry, please consider adding other appropriate improvements. That's how this project is meant to work, as far as I know. Success Charles01 (talk) 06:54, 13 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Picture of William Carey heading an article on Cecil Tyndale-Biscoe edit

I've been trying to work out why an article on Cecil Tyndale-Biscoe is headed up by a picture of William Carey. I think they must have been distantly related, since Cecil's mother's name was Eliza Carey Sandeman, and of course they were, broadly speaking and at least in terms of the fame which evidently gained them wiki entries, engaged in the same business. Nevertheless, the place for a picture of William Carey is surely more properly the article on ... um ... William Carey. In fact, there already is a perfectly good picture of William Carey heading up the article on William Carey: it's the same picture.

I've not removed the picture from the Cecil T-B article because I am not sufficiently steeped in the subject to be able to guess whether the picture is there because it is deemed relevant / significant or as a result of an oversight. Also, I don't have have a picture of Cecil with which, ideally, one would hope to replace it in an entry on Cecil. But if someone reading this understands the article more fully than I, might I recommend the removal of the Carey picture from the Tyndale-Biscoe article? The photo is part of the Template:Protestant missions to India, of which, I read that Tyndale-Biscoe was a part, by profession. If you would like to suggest a better portrait for the template, please address your concerns on the Template talk:Protestant missions to India. To remedy your concern that Cecil needs a photo, we still need to locate one and upload it so that it can have prominence over the template sidebar.
