Dear Shruti14, can you please help voice your opinion on the Krishna article discussion page. abadacare and Imc are really adamant about keeping the thelema section on. Please help.Govinda Ramanuja dasa USA (talk) 19:29, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
I have added my comments to Talk:Krishna#Non-Hindu views of Krishna on the Thelema debate. --Shruti14 t c s 23:10, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
Shruti14, I agree that since it is of little or no importance to Thelema, then it is of little relevance to the article. I think it is similiar to spam because it is an obscure scriptural reference of little or no importance to Thelema, much less Krishna. Thanks. Ism schism (talk) 23:19, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

Hi shruti,

Howz life with you?

I am awaiting your response with regard to joining my groups. I did not find you there.

Btw, I think you should have a page on Pandurang. Please see my reasons on the Krishna discussion page.

Kishore patnaik

pandurang

Yes, I know that

But I am saying that you should have a page on Pandurang since there are legends specifically connected with Pandurang such as Purandara and Sakku bai.

In south india too, Pandurang was a major deity with Tenali Rama linga in the royal court of Sri Krishna Deva raya has authored a big poem epic called Pandu ranga mahatyam.

Kosambi think Pandaripur has a sociological significance. I am online as Kishore_future(yahoo messager) and Kishorepatnaik09 on gmail. You can contact for further discussions there.

I agree as well, and hope to bring the discussion to Talk:Krishna and Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Hinduism/Vaishnavism so that the appropriate changes can be made. I cannot change them myself without consent from the group and someone removing the redirect. --Shruti14 t c s 17:20, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

are you vaishnava follower?

I dont know about the procedures but you can atleast start off something so that I can some edits.

there is lots of info about Pandurang and Pandhri pur.

Btw, Bhaktavijayam is another book in telugu that gives so many lives of devotess of Pandurang-purandara, Tukaram, Namdev, Sakkunbai etc.

are you sri vaishavan? with what name you have joined my groups?

the elephants in ramayana

hi shruti,

do you have any info on elephants in ramayana? I could not find it on wikipedia also.

As such, elephants are mentioned in RV as well extensively as a force of war in MBh. In Ramayan, while elephants are indeed mentioned and that warriors seated on elephants were protecting Ravana, there is no mention of elephants as a force of war.

Though elephant is one of the 4 fighting forces in war, it is not until Greek's invasion that they could become really important, thanks to the decline of importantce to stagnant technology of chariots. Greeks seemed to have faced problems in facing the elephants.

This is in fact a clear indication of the wrong chronology that we follow in text books. (more of that later)

hope to hear from you. if you have any info, please write to me Kishorepatnaik09@gmail.com

cheeers and regards,

abhidana

btw, I have created the article abhidana. But you have commented that it is affected by weasel words. I dont find anything uncertain in the small article. Please clarify.

Kishore patnaik —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kishorepatnaik (talkcontribs) 12:03, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

I had previously tagged it for weasel words because it had contained weasel words such as "is often mentioned as the best", which are not allowed under Wikipedia policy (see WP:AWW). I have now edited the article so that the weasel words are replaced by allowed words, have removed the "weasel words", and replaced it with an "expand" tag, since the article needs expansion. --Shruti14 t c s 23:15, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

Baby-sitters Club

Hi, Shruti: From your comments and work on the List of The Baby-sitters Club novels article and its Talk page, I thought you might be interested in a project that I started with some friends a couple months ago to create a separate wiki dedicated to the BSC series (and related topics, such as its spin-offs and adaptations). If you'd like to take a look and consider helping out, it's located at [1]. We have about 400 articles right now but most of them are stubs; our biggest goal right now is adding more content. If you're not interested, no problem and please forgive this intrusion. Have a nice day! Propaniac (talk) 15:06, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for letting me know - I'll take a look at the project. --Shruti14 t c s 22:36, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

language userbox templates

Shruti14: you should check you language templates: I fear you're messing up all templates used by native speakers (you did it so for native spanish speakers). Please specify your level for all different dialects of your languages: plain userboxes are reserved for native speakers (unless, you know, you're a native speaker of all those languages and dialects ;-). Louie (talk) 20:50, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

I think I can see what you were trying to do. I've just reverted my edits and kept your version, adding a warning for native users in mexican spanish. With my apologies. Louie (talk) 21:04, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for fixing the template and adding the warning - I apologize for any confusion. --Shruti14 t c s 22:35, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

I would love to help write for the newsletter if you need any other contributers. (By the way, the Mavs clinched a playoffs berth last night against Utah, so the news will have to be updated.) --Shruti14 t c s 21:11, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
Great! I'll fix that news, and stikeout the message on the projects' talk page. It's need to be done my May (the beginning of the month), so it can be delivered (I would encourage you to make it at Wikipedia:WikiProject National Basketball Association/Newsletter/Archives/2). Would you like to deliver, also? Basketball110Talk 21:14, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
I'd love to help with delivery as well. --Shruti14 t c s 21:17, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
You can copy down the template from the previous one, or just steal from another project. You can change anything you'd like. Basketball110Talk 21:19, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
Okay, great. I'll start working on it as soon as I can. I actually like the current template for the most part, although a few tweaks and maybe a little expansion would be helpful. Are we also going to have newsletters for the team WikiProjects as well? (I'd love to help with that as well if we are, especially WP:MAVS.) --Shruti14 t c s 21:29, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
I've placed a template on the new page where anyone working on the newsletter can tweak the template - as of now I've only slightly modified the current template (and deleted the first edition specific stuff). Let me know what you think should (not) be changed. --Shruti14 t c s 21:44, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
If you'd like to, you can write the Mavs' as well. Basketball110Talk 21:50, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

Welcome to the 1.0 Editorial Team

Hi, and thanks for signing up for the 1.0 team. We've been testing a bot for article selection, and you can see the preliminary results here. We're currently tweaking the algorithm and writing more parameters, so we can select 20-30,000 articles for the next offline release (Version 0.7). In the meantime, we're (very) slowly reviewing manual nominations for V0.7, as well as trying to coordinate assessment work with WikiProjects - right now we're looking at considering a rewrite of the parameters. We also aim to encourage improvements to core topics and the core supplement (which are important but often weak articles) through the Core Topics Collaboration (though this has been poorly supported of late).

So, do any of these things interest you? Please let me know how you'd like to participate. Thanks again, Walkerma (talk) 05:26, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the welcome. I'd like to help in any way I can. --Shruti14 t c s 17:43, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
Hi! Our new Core Topics Collaboration is Boat. Would you be able to help expand the article or clean it up! This important article really needs a lot of work. Thanks, Walkerma (talk) 02:42, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

MAVS newsletter

Just wondering, I think you shouldn't use the Mavericks logo on the newsletter. Unfortunately, it's a fair use image, and can only be used in the Dallas Mavericks article itself. I had similar troubles on the NBA logo. Cheers, Thisisborin9talk/contribs 05:46, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

Okay, sorry - I didn't know about the fair use image. I'll remove it ASAP. Thanks. --Shruti14 t c s 05:48, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

Dallas Mavericks Article of the Week:

  • Jason Terry was selected by the Atlanta Hawks with the tenth overall pick in the 1999 Draft. His excellent performance earned him a spot on the NBA All-Rookie Team, becoming only the second Hawk to do so. Within a year, he became one of the team's best players and top scorers. The Mavs showed interest in making him a part of their team, and he was traded to the Mavs in 2004, just prior to the start of the season. A solid shooter and three-point shooter, Terry has become an integral part of the Mavs lineup. Historically, he has had mixed performance in the playoffs.

WP:FAITH

"Please assume good faith and do not accuse other editors as being "ISKCON hating folk" as you did here, or accuse others of any "anti-ISKCON conspiracy", as none such exists. The other editors are working with good intentions, namely, the improvement of Wikipedia, and want to keep articles as NPOV as possible. Sources about ISKCON or another sectarian group should be mentioned as referring to the beliefs of that group, and not the Hindu religion as a whole - that is the point they are trying to make. Just as an ISKCON devotee would be upset if his/her beliefs were denied or mislabeled as the beliefs of others on Wikipedia (which would be a violation of WP:NPOV), so other traditional, mainstream Hindus would be offended by the beliefs of others as being labeled as theirs, when in fact they are not, and so the points of view must be clearly stated, and a neutral point of view should be maintained. --Shruti14 t c s 20:54, 20 April 2008 (UTC)"

Dear Shruti, I had a look and I think there is some sort of personal attack on my posts by other editors. I have included the diff in your previous post on the noticeboard, what is the correct course of action, if I want to maintain good faith and at the same time call things as they are? Really would like to know what you think. Wikidās ॐ 22:42, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

I understand your frustration in not having your edits approved (to say the least) by the Wikipedia community. However, my reference to WP:FAITH was in that you had attacked other editors with unfair terms such as "ISKCON-hating folk" and deemed a non-existent "anti-ISKCON conspiracy" as the cause of this disapproval, prompting me to remind you of WP:FAITH. I will say that there was an ISKCON leaning to many articles that lacked adequate and/or appropriate coverage of more "mainstream" traditional groups within Vaishnavism/Hinduism, something that is largely being taken care of thanks to cooperative collaboration. The editors against your point of view fear that what has been termed as an "ISKCON bias" will return to the articles, and are attempting to maintain a more neutral and comprehensive point of view that does not put too much weight on a specific "non-traditional" sectarian group. (Note that I didn't say non-Scripture-following - that is an arguable point that is ultimately in the view of the believer.) In any case, the editors had only good intentions and my reminder to assume good faith was simply in reference to your unfair accusations towards well-intentioned editors. I can understand why you feel that there were "personal attacks" against you, although I am certain that most of the editors did not have any such specific attack in mind. I understand that you disagree with their point of view, but increased tension will only be problematic for yourselves and Wikipedia, so might I suggest a reasonable compromise with the editors to which all sides can agree on? --Shruti14 t c s 02:11, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

If you propose a compromise I will go along with it. I do not want to apply any blocks or any other such actions agains any other editors. Wikidās ॐ 08:14, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

Nara-Narayana

Thanks for your suggestions at the page. Can you please add [original research?] tags to specific sentences and leave a note on talk what article needs to be removed so that it does not sound like a "personal essay".--Redtigerxyz (talk) 04:55, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

Refs added.--Redtigerxyz (talk) 06:22, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
The article wasn't as much of a personal essay as it was unsourced. Thanks for adding the refs - the article is beginning to see more improvement. --Shruti14 t c s 23:23, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

Hi,

Iv seen your work on the Narnarayan Dev page, good stuff! I was thinking of making a Laxminarayan Dev page, but did not have much information - could you help out?

Thanks, Wheredevelsdare (talk) 23:05, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

I agree with your suggestion that the page should be created and would love to help. Unfortunately, I will be busy for the next week (because of school exams) and cannot do much right now but will help as soon and as much as I can. Note that as of now Laxminarayan redirects to the temple of that name - if a separate article is needed, that can be easily fixed. I also encourage you to join Wikipedia:WikiProject_Hinduism/Vaishnavism if you haven't already done so - many articles within the scope of that project are in need of work. --Shruti14 t c s 03:05, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

Review FACs ?

Hi Shruti, As I have commented before, you seem to have a good grasp of what makes for encyclopedic content and authoritative references, as well as good copyediting skills. May I suggest that you try your hand reviewing some featured article candidates whenever you have the time ? In my experience, such an effort (i.e., reviewing articles as well as reading other knowledgeable reviewers' comments) greatly enhances ones appreciation of what a ideal article on wikipedia should look like, and helps in ones own editing. Cheers and happy editing. Abecedare (talk) 00:17, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for the wonderful suggestion. I agree that reviewing featured article candidates would certainly help, and I would love to do so as soon as I get a chance. --Shruti14 t c s 23:04, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
