Radamel Falcao

PeeJay, could you explain why your are deleting Falcao's goals as excessive? All international players have their goals listed. This would be particulary true in Falcao's case where he is his countries all time leading goal scorer? You wouldn't delete Gareth Bale's international goals would you? Regards. Shield187 (talk) 17:02, 8 June 2015 (UTC)

Not just Gareth Bale, every International Player on here has their international goals listed. Would you delete Messi's and Ronaldo's goals then too? This is your opinion that they are excessive, but the general consensus going by all the players that have their goals is that it is not. Please leave them. Shield187 (talk) 17:08, 8 June 2015 (UTC)

I'm challenging you on this one. Lets leave this one on as he is his countries all time leading goal scorer. Shield187 (talk) 17:17, 8 June 2015 (UTC)

What's your game man? Deleting my comments to other user's when I'm asking for a second opinion? Shield187 (talk) 18:32, 8 June 2015 (UTC)

According to that I can notify him of a discussion. I'll just have to rephrase to a neutral tone. What I don't understand is that has been there for years and you just know are making a big deal of it? I don't know what players you are watching but every player I have seen has the goals. Check all the current players of the England National team and they all have the goals listed. From Rooney to Glen Johnson. Shield187 (talk) 18:40, 8 June 2015 (UTC)

Thanks I will. If people are keen to add them, then the minority isn't much of a minority. Shield187 (talk) 18:48, 8 June 2015 (UTC)

The table can be hide/show so that if you find it "bloated" you can just hide it. As far as value, people want to know the Five Ws on these goals. It is easily obtainable. Goal importance is subjective, who decides if a goal is important? Sports fans love their stats, but I'll post something in the Footy page to see how other people feel. Shield187 (talk) 19:12, 8 June 2015 (UTC)

I just opened a discussion regarding this: [1] --Brayan Jaimes (talk) 19:27, 8 June 2015 (UTC)

Flags in 2018 FIFA World Cup

Flags are included in other sport articles for bid cities (see FIFA World Cup hosts, 2010 Winter Olympics, 2015 Pan American Games) OhanaUnitedTalk page 00:36, 12 June 2015 (UTC)

Actually your interpretation is flawed. Your argument on "decoration" applies to icons (WP:ICONDECORATION), not flags. Flags have its separate section and there is no mention at all in the flag section on decoration (there were 3 mentions on decoration on that page, 2 of them reside in icon section and 1 reside in logo section). OhanaUnitedTalk page 00:56, 12 June 2015 (UTC)
other stuff exists is an essay. Furthermore, I wasn't using {{flagicon}}. I was using {{flag}}. OhanaUnitedTalk page 01:11, 12 June 2015 (UTC)

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Memphis Depay. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware that Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. JMHamo (talk) 22:58, 13 June 2015 (UTC)

Class and importance of club season articles

Hello PeeJay2K3. Whenever people create new German club season articles, I then create the associated talk page, adding the templates for WikiProject Football and Germany. Then usually after this you rate it start-class and low-importance. Can I just assume that all of these articles will be start-class and low importance? It may make more sense if I would just tag the talk page with those ratings from the beginning instead of someone like you doing it after the page is created. It would save a little time. I am pretty sure that all of these articles will have the same class and importance. Of course, I am not a judge of these kinds of articles, so I do not know if I am "permitted" to. Thanks. WT:FOOTY discussion

Hello PeeJay2K3! Before I self-revert those other ones, could you point me to the specific discussion at WT:FOOTY? (I took a quick look there, and didn't see an obvious discussion about this...) I'd like to take a look at it before I do anything further... Thanks! --IJBall (contribstalk) 16:07, 4 July 2015 (UTC)

PeeJay2K3, thanks for the link to that. One suggestion – to give that conversation even more "weight", you all might want to think about having a "formal" RfC about that – if the consensus of a wider RfC is the same result, then there'd be no question that that should be the "official" WP:FOOTY procedure... In the meantime, I'll go ahead and self-revert now, citing the above discussion as the rationale. --IJBall (contribstalk) 18:26, 4 July 2015 (UTC)
Follow-up: My self-reverts are now getting reverted by Egghead06, so as I am not any particular "footy" aficionado, I will bow out at this point, and leave it to the WP:FOOTY crew to figure out the details... --IJBall (contribstalk) 18:58, 4 July 2015 (UTC)

Davide Petrucci's page

Hey! I see you are an experienced Wikipedia editor. I'm not, but I made some factually correct and informative edits to Davide Petrucci's Wikipedia page and was just wondering why you deleted them. Did they not reach the requirements for making edits?

160.39.18.180 (talk) 20:53, 11 July 2015 (UTC)

Alexiulian25 (talk) 10:08, 12 July 2015 (UTC)Why you undo what I did on Audi Cup, look what you have done. Can you undo what I did please ?

Petrucci

Ok, well I know that he started at Roma in 2002 because at the time he left Roma in 2008 he said that he had been there for 6 years (Article). I know that he was playing in Roma's U17 Allievi Nazionali team because there is footage of it (Video). And I wasn't actually saying that they were all his teammates in the Italy youth teams he was capped for, though some of them were. I was saying that all those players played in various Italy youth national teams at various ages and that all were local kids from Rome or Roman suburbs and played for Roma, but one can confirm that type of information through old Transfermarkt records like this one (Article), in which you can clearly see a few of those aforementioned Roma 91s (Brosco, Crescenzi, D'Alessandro, Frasca, and Pettinari '92) alongside their old teammate Petrucci while he was at United. And I can show that they were his Roma teammates through videos like the Allievi Nazionali one I linked above, and this one (Video), in which you can see D'Alessandro, Bertolacci, Malomo, Florenzi and others in clips from their Roma U17 2007-08 season. Hope you don't mind if I rewrite those parts of his page, but I will include the evidence this time. I wanted to include that information in order to give some sort of recognition to the golden generation that was Roma '91s, of which some of the players made it big and some didn't. Out of curiosity, how did you even know I had made edits to his page?? Is it possible to get notifications for updates to certain pages if I make a Wikipedia account? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 160.39.18.180 (talk) 01:45, 13 July 2015 (UTC)

2017 British and Irish Lions tour to New Zealand has been nominated for Did You Know

July 2015

Your recent editing history at Morgan Schneiderlin shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you get reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.
You should know better at this stage... JMHamo (talk) 18:55, 14 July 2015 (UTC)

Could you help me out?

Hey Peejay, could you please explain to me the terrible atrocity that seems to be piping Inter Milan to Internazionale? The link still leads to Inter Milan, when users hover over the link it will still say Inter Milan, and I use it for consistency within the large Italian football project. Why is it now literally banned? The user who insists on removing the piping keeps citing COMMONNAME, but if that were the rule, wouldn't that mean that no piping would be allowed on this site at all? I'd rather have a simple link to an away stadium than having to read a paragraph, regardless of its length. I believe its best to have both kinds of links because people don't always want to read everything before getting to the link they actually want, or have to go through multiple links to get to the information they want. League division in lead

Hello. Some people like it, some people don't, some people don't really care but have a strong objection to editors repeatedly removing it from articles claiming consensus when they know there isn't one or using spurious aguments to justify pushing their personal preference. I fall into the third category. Please see the archived discussion at the talk page of the editor I was reverting, which contains links to all the WT:FOOTY discussions I could find, the edit-warring by that same editor at Bafétimbi Gomis and Talk:Bafétimbi Gomis#Removing league played in from the lead section, further edit-waring at Gianluigi Buffon, both after they knew full well that there was no such consensus. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 09:46, 28 July 2015 (UTC)

Might be. Particularly as I can't revert you at Kuszczak because I'd be at 3RR and I can't be arsed to start a discussion there because only us two would participate ;-) It'd be good if WT:FOOTY could have a decent discussion, come to a consensus, whatever that might be, and then act on that consensus. But people do like getting their own way, and tend to believe that their own way is the same as Wikipedia's way, whether it is or not, as I'm sure we're both aware. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 11:40, 28 July 2015 (UTC)

Helping a fellow man

Hi there PJ, all well?

Can you please drop a line here (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:SLBedit#Doubt_.2F_Others), regarding the order of templates? I cannot find the WP:FOOTY thread, one or two years ago since it happened, but I remembered you dropping an opinion there and concurring with me that the order of templates should be: 1 - club stuff; 2 - national team stuff (if any); 3 - awards, because players spend 99% of their careers with the clubs and the rest (national team call-ups, awards) is a direct consequence of that.

Again, I feel there is no consensus in this matter, mainly a matter of preference I wager. Attentively, from Portugal --84.90.219.128 (talk) 18:50, 28 July 2015 (UTC)

Royal London One-Day Cup Group B template

Thanks for the improvements to the template that I created (based on the previous year's version). I noticed you commented that 'game has not finished yet' for the first change... it most certainly had as I was watching it and was waiting for the source table to update before finishing the template change. You then put the exact same net run rates back in... Anyways, thanks for helping keep this up to date. I have recently completed a couple of Kent season pages, modeled largely on your excellent Glamorgan pages (with some influence from the Warwickshire equivalents as well, such as collapsible result tables).... I would appreciate any suggestions you may have. Cricket doesn't have enough coverage compared with football. PS: Gutted about the Kent-Glamorgan result last night! Defeat from the jaws of victory again for us (like the t20 recently too!).Bs1jac (talk) 08:49, 29 July 2015 (UTC)

No worries! The main thing I have done differently to your pages (having originally copied your format and then switched) is making use of the Single-innings cricket match collapsible and Two-innings cricket match collapsible scores templates so save space. Wasn't sure which I preferred, but on balance I went with the collapsible template. Am currently looking to do various other cricket pages/updates such as the 2013 and 2014 English cricket season pages that have not been completed, and the minor counties championship 2014 and 2015.Bs1jac (talk) 10:35, 29 July 2015 (UTC)

You're right

I thought I made a mistake for Brad Green, I remember writing 2010, I went back to have a look at it and missed it as I just saw 2011 capt, it's always good to have a second set of eyes. Thanks, Flickerd (talk) 08:00, 30 July 2015 (UTC)

Wales national football team

Recent changes at Wales national football team indicate you may be involved in an edit war. Frequent reverting is fine in cases of vandalism, but this appears to be a difference of opinion. Please engage with the other party/parties on the article talk page to achieve consensus, rather than using edit summaries. It really isn't worth the possibility of being blocked. All the best, Daicaregos (talk) 17:23, 30 July 2015 (UTC)

Welbeck

Why do you keep removing the fact Welbeck won the FA Cup last season? I love how when told to prove why he can't have the medal, you just said "no". Regardless of the fact if you were in the final squad or not, you win the FA Cup. He received a medal, lifted it on the podium and was on the parade. You just have an agenda. Shaquille McDonald

What do you mean common name? The way I see it there are as many sources referring to the player as Shaquille as there are Shaq? What's the big deal padlocking the article and allowing only administrators access? Please make sure you change Shaquille O'Neal to Shaq as he is also referred to as by that name! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kő Cloch (talkcontribs) 17:50, 4 August 2015 (UTC)

Rugby World Cup versus Rugby Union World Cup

The references to "xxxx Rugby World Cup is scheduled to be the yyyyy Rugby World Cup" should contain the precision "yyyy Rugby Union World Cup" because the first Rugby World Cup was in 1954 and was a rugby league world cup, thus the 1987 Rugby World Cup was actually the 10th Rugby World Cup (but 1st Rugby Union World Cup). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.15.53.177 (talk) 12:41, 5 August 2015 (UTC)

Spelling

I noticed this edit. Do you have any evidence for your assertion? My dictionary seems to disagree with you. -John (talk) 10:11, 6 August 2015 (UTC)

Are you by chance using a French dictionary? This search doesn't reveal any versions of the word that use the acute accent, at least not on the first couple of pages. – PeeJay 10:25, 6 August 2015 (UTC)
No, I was looking at a paper dictionary in English. Usage varies but British English generally favours keeping diacritics in foreign words longer than American English does. When I last looked at this the majority of the sources favoured using the accent to aid pronunciation. -John (talk) 10:36, 6 August 2015 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) I'm surprised. Chambers online gives both, with the unaccented first. The 1999 edition on paper gives both, with the unaccented first and the accented second and in smaller type. Oxford online gives only the unaccented form. Which tells me 1) that either is still acceptable, and 2) those dictionaries wouldn't support adding the accent in an article stable with the unaccented form. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 10:58, 6 August 2015 (UTC)
Oxford only lists the accented form and the British English spellchecker Firefox extension I use highlights the unaccented version as being in error. I wonder if a central discussion is merited? - John (talk) 11:13, 6 August 2015 (UTC)
That OED entry is tagged as not yet fully updated, though, and the most recent quotation listed, from 1971, is accentless. They do advise using the Oxford Dictionaries site for current language and practical usage. I don't know anything about when central discussions are appropriate, I'm afraid. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 11:38, 6 August 2015 (UTC)

List lead MoS

PeeJay, you were absolutely right to be skeptical about the "This is a list of" opening. That style has been discouraged for years now, per WP:BEGIN, and I'm glad to see that you changed the lead back to a superior version. Giants2008 (Talk) 15:07, 2 August 2015 (UTC)

I don't care that much for the bar myself, but the Giants list that I've worked on has one so maybe I shouldn't say anything. :-) Maybe they all need to be removed, in which case I'd better get going. :-)) Sorry that I forgot to come earlier, by the way. I knew I was forgetting something. Giants2008 (Talk) 02:07, 7 August 2015 (UTC)

Formal mediation has been requested

The Mediation Committee has received a request for formal mediation of the dispute relating to "Liverpool F.C.–Manchester United F.C. rivalry Honours Count sources". As an editor concerned in this dispute, you are invited to participate in the mediation. Mediation is a voluntary process which resolves a dispute over article content by facilitation, consensus-building, and compromise among the involved editors. After reviewing the request page, the formal mediation policy, and the guide to formal mediation, please indicate in the "party agreement" section whether you agree to participate. Because requests must be responded to by the Mediation Committee within seven days, please respond to the request by 14 August 2015.

Discussion relating to the mediation request is welcome at the case talk page. Thank you.

2015 Rugby World Cup

Hi PeeJay2K3, the reason for my rephrasing of "England was chosen to host the competition in July 2009" was for this statement not to be mistaken in that the competition was supposed to take place in July 2009, but mearly the date on which England was chosen to do so. If this clarifies it, please feel free to revert back your change. Regards, Aliwal2012 (talk) 07:18, 16 August 2015 (UTC)

Mediation on Liverpool-Manchester Honours Court

(This is being posted to the talk page of all three parties.) PeeJay2K3 has asked at the rejected mediation page whether or not it is too late for him/her to accept at this point. It is, but the case can be refiled. If you choose to do that, please file it as "Liverpool F.C.–Manchester United F.C. rivalry Honours Count sources 2" (notice the 2 at the end). However, let me note that this case appears to have had a fairly thorough mediation at the Dispute Resolution Noticeboard without any final consensus being reached and formal mediation through the Mediation Committee can only do the same kind of thing. Formal mediation is not a court or tribunal which will declare one side right and the other wrong. All it can do is to try to help to get the three of you to come to consensus. The primary difference between what you've done already at DRN and what would happen at MEDCOM is that you'll have a more experienced mediator — which is not at all intended to imply that the DRN volunteer was inept or did a poor job, it's just the nature of the difference between the two forums — and there will be no time limit on how long the mediation can take (and, indeed, formal mediations often continue for several months). But you each have to consider whether or not your position or that of the others is so entrenched that there is little or no chance of you changing your mind or compromising so that the three of you can come to consensus. If that is the case, then before refiling at MEDCOM you might want to consider, if you've not tried it already, a request for comments to draw in other editors to the discussion. If that doesn't achieve consensus, then you can still try formal mediation afterwards. For the Mediation Committee, TransporterMan (TALK) 13:37, 17 August 2015 (UTC) (Chairperson) (Not watching)

August 2015

Your recent editing history at Lionel Messi shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war.

You are on 3rr on Talk:2015–16 UEFA Champions League. Be careful. Moreover, "nothing has been happened so far" is not reason to call it as "low importance". As I explained earlier, We call "low importance" tournaments to those of "non-footballing nation's" regional tournaments. That article got 100,000 views yesterday. UEFA CL is not of "low importance" in football world. Maybe your favorite team is not playing, so it doesn't make it "low importance" tournament for everyone. Template:Infobox cricket tour

Hi, I noticed you have recently modified twice the Template:Infobox cricket tour. In order to avoid an edit war, I would like to point out that there are cases in cricket, such as the Women's Ashes (i.e 2015 Women's Ashes where series are played on as multi-format (Test, ODI and T20I) and statistics such as "most runs" or "most wicket" in all matches (across all formats) exists (i.e. http://stats.espncricinfo.com/womens-ashes-2015/engine/records/index.html?class=13;id=9705;type=series). That's the reason the player/ most runs / most wickets/ of the series where created. Personally I agree with you that combining statistics from different formats into one is "like comparing apples with oranges", but that is not the point.

The point here is that we must acknowledge it does happens and the templates have to be able to display it. In case of cricket tours where that info is irrelevant, editors are able to omit or exclude those lines.

Disambiguation link notification for September 1

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited 1999 UEFA Champions League Final, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page David May. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Man Utd wiki

Davefelmer (talk) 18:31, 6 September 2015 (UTC)the intro feels very basic and uninformative. As long as the facts are referenced, additional information should be added. also, why was my sourced comment about United having the most wins since WW2 deleted? what justification is there for that?

Pele

Davefelmer (talk) 21:52, 6 September 2015 (UTC)In what way is the source unreliable? Its a neutral study conducted by a sporting website/network that highlights Pele's immense success at club level. this has every right and should be noted on his bio.

A barnstar for you!

About my reverts

I didn't really understand what the IP user meant on the UEFA Champions League articles. I understood what you meant though. My apologies. --I am Kethrus Talk to me! 17:16, 12 September 2015 (UTC)

Tournament names in different languages

In UEFA Euro 2020, you stated that it is "ridiculous". However, UEFA could have use the name in 20 different languages as a reference to the number 20 in "2020". I added the names in different languages according to the Wikipedias that are in different languages. Same thing goes for the 2013 and 2014 FIFA Club World Cups according to the Arabic Wikipedia. Why is it ridiculous? What did you compare it to? FIFA and UEFA could had the names in different languages or not. I hate to type it but I want to explain the reverts. I reverted it because for the UEFA Euro 2020, French and German are the official languages of UEFA. For the 2013 and 2014 FIFA World Cup, FIFA had sent me an email that it is the name of these competitions in Arabic. If I made any mistakes, discuss whats wrong.
