Please note that with a developing incident like this, it is particularly important to cite sources. There is no rush to complete the article, and we have a duty to our readers to get things right. AndyTheGrump (talk) 23:22, 1 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

July 2015 edit

Hi there! Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. Thanks! 220 of Borg 06:52, 2 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

Bali Nine edit

If every editor did what you have done in WP:AGF at Bali Nine the online encyclopedia would be full of WP:OR and waiting for refs

The point about having a valid and verifiable encyclopedia, is that we require WP:CITE and WP:RS - it is better to hold off on adding materials that cannot be verified in your own space - create a sub-page and save it there, until such time as you can get a handle on finding resources to verify your addition.

You need to understand that articles are meant to be the finished product, not holding spaces. JarrahTree 10:41, 19 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. 2016 in Indonesia edit

Hi, I reverted your edits to 2016 in Indonesia because much of the content you added lacks citation, you introduced grammatical errors, and you have added too much content relating to a single incident. The page does need updating but I do not believe your changes were positive. Curro2 (talk) 07:02, 27 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

The content that you added to 2016 in Indonesia violates WP:BLP. You have added unsourced content that is critical of a living individual. If you want to re-add the content, please cite your sources and put the content in your own words. Curro2 (talk) 03:17, 28 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

I have reported you [1] for not following the verifiability policy (as in here) and blatantly ignoring the multiple warnings left at this talk page.--Jetstreamer Talk 13:44, 26 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

  • Papa Paparooney, I came this close to blocking you. It's time to start communicating with your fellow editors--refusing to do so can itself be considered disruptive editing, and thus blockable. Thank you, Drmies (talk) 16:17, 26 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
  • @Drmies @Jetstreamer I'm terribly sorry for my late reply. You definitely hate excuses but these mess happened during my teen years, definitely the years when I rarely checked my talk page and the days when I got too excited that I didn't know any Wikipedia policies (So yeah technically all warnings fell on deaf ears.) Anyway, I've resolved the issues. Said articles have gone through major edits in 2021 and recently in 2022. Thank you for your concern. PaPa PaPaRoony (talk) 01:41, 8 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia and copyright edit

Hello PaPa PaPaRoony, and welcome to Wikipedia. All or some of your addition(s) to TransAsia Airways Flight 222 has had to be removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material without permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributing to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. However, there are steps that must be taken to verify that license before you do. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are public domain or compatibly licensed), it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at the help desk before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you can, but please follow the steps in Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 02:26, 6 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

December 2016 - Indonesian articles edit

Hi, it is one thing to get enthusiastic, it is enough to also go into articles that have valid images and links - and simply swipe them all.

If your edit summaries were a bit more specific, I might consider your argument reasonable, but as it stands the removals and the edit summaries are somewhat less than systematic or reasoned. In most cases the editors who created the items you have removed have long gone or are unlikely to respond to your nebulous summaries. In this case it is the broader Indonesian project overall that has to bear the weight of your refined analysis.

As it is, I would be interested to see your explanation of this evenings swipes at the obvious highly variable quality items - I would strongly suggest removals as you have done need to be re-considered, but it remains to see how civilized our conversation might ensue... Copyright problem: Air France Flight 5672 edit

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, such as Air France Flight 5672, but we regretfully cannot accept copyrighted text or images from either web sites or printed works. This article appears to contain work copied from https://www.bea.aero/docspa/2003/f-js030622a/pdf/f-js030622a.pdf, and therefore to constitute a violation of Wikipedia's copyright policies. The copyrighted text has been or will soon be deleted. While we appreciate contributions, we must require all contributors to understand and comply with our copyright policy. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators are liable to be blocked from editing.

If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under license allowed by Wikipedia, then you should do one of the following:

It may also be necessary for the text be modified to have an encyclopedic tone and to follow Wikipedia article layout. For more information on Wikipedia's policies, see Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If you would like to begin working on a new version of the article you may do so at this temporary page. Leave a note at Talk:Air France Flight 5672 saying you have done so and an administrator will move the new article into place once the issue is resolved.

Thank you, and please feel welcome to continue contributing to Wikipedia. Happy editing!

I don't believe that I violated the copyright. I didn't copyedit anything at all. However, I should confirm that I read the report chronologically, analysed it, and then concluded it in a short conclusion text. So, i can tell the readers in chronological order.

I analysed that report for hours, read it repeatedly and later concluded it. Sadly, it is pretty similar to the report (I can't find a way to differentiate it even more since my English is bad). So, the way I explained the accident was controversial.

I do believe that this is also the best way to explain the cause of the crash or the accident chronologically. I'm an aviation enthusiast and from what I saw from the other articles, they also explain it chronologically and sometimes it bears similarity to the factual report.PaPa PaPaRoony

  • Copied from my talk page (to keep discussion in one place): Sorry, I am not certain if it is copyrighted which I why I've requested that an administrator look into it. If I am reading it correctly, our documentation at Wikipedia Commons says that French government texts are not in the public domain. It may take a few days for an admin to respond to the request, and the template should not be removed until they've cleared it. If there is a copyright violation it would have to be removed from the page history as well, so we really have to wait to hear back from them. SeraphWiki (talk) 22:03, 16 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
    • @SeraphWiki: Hey there, I did a copyvio check before I accepted the article, and if this is the article I remember, the high percentage that the copyvio tool gives is due to the quotations used in the article, which were stating what the official report said. I may have missed something, but figured I would mention it since I was the one that reviewed the article. Kees08 (Talk) 05:36, 17 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Kees08: I see the quote you are talking about but that was not the only reason I asked for admin attention. The extent of borrowing directly from one source is extensive enough throughout the entire article, that it might be an issue, if the source is indeed copyrighted. SeraphWiki (talk) 06:01, 17 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
Oh yeah that's fine, just wanted to give my rationale. Kees08 (Talk) 06:07, 17 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Kees08@SeraphWiki Hello, very sorry for my late reply. Unfortunately yes, the edits in that article were mainly copyedits without much (if any) paraphrasing. Terribly sorry for my blatant violation on Manual of Style during my teen years. Thank you for the feedbacks though. PaPa PaPaRoony (talk) 02:07, 8 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
