English wikipediaEdit

Takes WP:N, WP:V - WP:RS very seriously - when adding material it must have those components - thanks JarrahTree 08:16, 17 November 2017 (UTC)

Uh-huh Juxlos (talk) 08:22, 17 November 2017 (UTC)

many editors in the past have thought adding lists of things is what wikipedia is WP:ABOUT however it is WP:NOT..

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donggala_Regency is a very good recent example...

your edits are much appreciated - just leaving a few clues how to steer through the mess of the Indonesian project - thanks again JarrahTree 08:34, 17 November 2017 (UTC)

I’ve seen all the blogpost links, yes. I try to get comparatively reliable sources cited like Jakarta Post, Tempo or Kompas but well sometimes a regional Tribun is all I’ve got. Juxlos (talk) 08:38, 17 November 2017 (UTC)

No problems - any improving the content of the project area is always appreciated ! JarrahTree 08:41, 17 November 2017 (UTC)

[PRETTY MUCH MEANINGLESS] Hey Juxlos. You a fan of Lost Echo?Edit

Since I follow Lost Echo's page, I saw you updated it, and I wondered, do you like Lost Echo? MordoGreat (talk) 23:15, 3 January 2018 (UTC)

Honestly not really, I was just cleaning up video game articles listed here randomly selecting articles then adding the cover or removing them from the list if they have one already. It just happened that I clicked Lost Echo; never heard of it before otherwise. Juxlos (talk) 23:17, 3 January 2018 (UTC)

Consider nominating your new article in DYK!Edit

Hi, belated welcome to Wikipedia! I noticed you have created some new articles. Just want to share that you can nominate your new articles to WP:DYK (instruction. Basically if your article is new enough, long enough and well-sourced enough you can have your article in the "Did you Know" section of the main page. I find it nice to see your article being recognized in the main page, and it will drive thousands of traffic to your article and you can get feedback from other articles. The length and quality bar is not that high. Your article Kingdom of Larantuka would totally qualify (but now it's too late). Anyway, just something to consider and I hope you'll have a good time here in wikipedia. HaEr48 (talk) 23:46, 19 January 2018 (UTC)

Well, thanks for the idea, will keep that in mind. I don't recall having made a decently sized one for a while unless say Bambang Soesatyo would still be acceptable for DYK? Juxlos (talk) 00:04, 20 January 2018 (UTC)
Definitely! the requirement is only 1,500 characters of prose, Bambang Soesatyo has over 3,000. The nominating form is here, give it a try and see if you like the process. HaEr48 (talk) 00:08, 20 January 2018 (UTC)

gracias, thanks etcEdit

very few editors actually have done what you are doing - thanks you very very much for updating indonesian articles with project assessment - your hard work is appreciated JarrahTree 23:52, 19 February 2018 (UTC)

Honestly I pretty much just copy-pasted |class=Stub|importance=low so it's not really anything :p Juxlos (talk) 23:54, 19 February 2018 (UTC)
if you know how long since anyone took any note of anything to do with project maintenance on the project, nah when
seeing the sheer volume at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Unassessed_Indonesia_articles - even that is most welcome JarrahTree 23:57, 19 February 2018 (UTC)
excellent less than 1k now - good on you! JarrahTree 11:45, 20 February 2018 (UTC)
lucu sekali - you must be in Jakarta - jawah tengah lebih banyak orang daripada semua ozstrylia - mid to low - lucu ! JarrahTree 00:47, 22 February 2018 (UTC)
i mean Indonesian legislative election, 2014 is low so Juxlos (talk) 00:48, 22 February 2018 (UTC)
actually the whole indonesian project assessment hasnt had a proper review of what is important or whatever in over ten years or so JarrahTree 00:52, 22 February 2018 (UTC)
might be a good time to start doing it, to project talk we go then Juxlos (talk) 00:53, 22 February 2018 (UTC)
well the problem is the number of eds interested or turning up might be miniscule - it might be worth checking other active country specific projects for the importance ratings and how they are dealing with them 10 years after they started theirs... JarrahTree 01:05, 22 February 2018 (UTC)

Your GA nomination of Pokémon X and YEdit

The article Pokémon X and Y you nominated as a good article has passed  ; see Talk:Pokémon X and Y for comments about the article. Well done! If the article has not already been on the main page as an "In the news" or "Did you know" item, you can nominate it to appear in Did you know. confusingEdit

so the press were reporting a different or wrong name? JarrahTree 11:40, 16 May 2018 (UTC)

Regarding JAD? It’s a different organization. The Indonesian press reported JAD specifically, maybe some foreign reporters missed the differences.
  • JAD:

https://www.state.gov/j/ct/rls/other/des/266772.htm

They’re separate.

Juxlos (talk) 11:44, 16 May 2018 (UTC)

very important to make sure that any redirects or see alsos are clear - anyone pick up on what sidney jones has said about it yet? JarrahTree 11:49, 16 May 2018 (UTC)
I’m not sure I follow? Juxlos (talk) 11:52, 16 May 2018 (UTC)
sorry three things here:
  • if there is a different group with a similar name - redirects are important to make sure someone who has no knowledge can negotiate the nuances of naming of groups
  • see also - or text in articles need to identify similar sounding named groups
  • Not that I know of for Jones - though there are no articles for JAD yet so I’m not sure how to make redirects/see also. Juxlos (talk) 12:00, 16 May 2018 (UTC)

undo edit on Indonesian National Armed ForcesEdit

Hi, I noticed that you just undo my edit on Indonesian National Armed Forces. And on the summary, you mentioned that my edit is 'not fit for the main TNI article'.
Kindly please elaborate which part of my edit that is not fit? Regards. Ckfasdf (talk) 4:50 PM, 20 May 2018 (UTC)

Since we’re both Indonesian I’ll just speak Indonesian.

Juxlos (talk) 16:54, 20 May 2018 (UTC)

Regarding the reorgnization things. actually, it was previously mentioned on the 'organization' section (mulai dari kalimat 'The 1985 reorganisation also made significant changes in the armed forces chain of command.....' dst). Since we have new command now, I only update the information and I also have updated this info on related article (army, navy, marine and so on).
Anyway, since you have undo your edit... no further issue then. Thx. Ckfasdf (talk) 5:06 PM, 20 May 2018 (UTC)

notability of place name stubs with no text or refsEdit

hahaha - notable ? assumed - 10 years old stubs with no added information at all with tags about lack of references.

It makes the project look dead and unmiantained when you encounter enough stubs with no reliable sources or something similar - or worse - the district stubs with lists of names of villages and nothing else. It would be good to think the english wikipedia indonesia project could actually do with a cleanup.

Spelling and grammar and sense of the jakarta articles I have encountered today could do with days of checking and correcting - not more picture galleries, but actual text chekcing, spelling, grammar and basic wiki standards checked. Even assessment and project tags checked on talk pages. If there was enough interest to encourage a Jakarta task force from Indonesian editors with enough english skills - it would be very very good to have practice - adding bps details (or anything else beyond single source). But I straddle too many projects and subjects at the moment. But if there was a possibility to encourage improvements in the Jakarta articles it would be great. JarrahTree 15:13, 23 May 2018 (UTC)

Unencyclopediac rubbish like Sunlake Hotel, Jakarta gets tagged with some of its problems - no one touches it in three years, and yet someone thinks it is notable....

everything suggests a group of Jakarta based editors could have as a great project - the task of cleaning up the inggeris kecelakan and finding some really good practice in english JarrahTree 15:22, 23 May 2018 (UTC)

lucuEdit

wah... re the sunlake hotel - clean it and see what happens. Thank you dari selatan... JarrahTree 00:14, 24 May 2018 (UTC)

as for universities - coincidentally both India and Indonesia have very poor tagging on talk pages JarrahTree 23:46, 3 June 2018 (UTC)

Promoting nominations at DYKEdit

Juxlos, I noticed that you promoted your first nominations to the prepare areas at DYK about 18 hours ago. It didn't go as smoothly as it should have: you forgot to close the actual nomination templates—something you did a few hours later—and you also neglected to include each nomination's credits, something Mandarax took care of a couple of hours ago (for Prep 6 and Prep 4).

I would like to recommend that before you do any further promotions, you review the instructions on doing promotions. These come in two parts: the mechanics of doing the promotion, and the things you should look out for when building prep sets.

The instructions for promoting a single nomination are at Template talk:Did you know/Approved#How to promote an accepted hook. The various things that need to be considered while building a prep set are at WP:DYKSG#Rules of thumb for preparing updates. One other thing you should typically do is make sure that the hook facts appear in the article and the cited inline source(s) given for them. Sometimes reviews are passed without the reviewer having done this properly, so it's always a good idea to double-check: when you promote a hook, you're effectively giving it your okay in addition to that of the reviewer. If you find a hook that isn't supported by the article, then don't promote it; instead, supersede the existing tick with an icon that reflects the seriousness of the issues you've just found.

Best of luck going forward! BlueMoonset (talk) 02:27, 25 August 2018 (UTC)

Your draft article, Draft:Tolikara regency election, 2017Edit

Hello, Juxlos. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Tolikara regency election".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. JMHamo (talk) 09:34, 24 November 2018 (UTC)

File:Meltan Community Day.jpegEdit

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. Hi Juxlos, how are you? Great job on starting a lot of Indonesian articles. It looks like you're actively working on DYKs. Wikipedia:WikiCup might interest you. I participated in past several years and it's kind of a fun way to motivate yourself. HaEr48 (talk) 20:19, 1 January 2019 (UTC)

I'm honestly more of a quantity editor than a quality editor, so maybe it's not the best for me :p Thanks though! Juxlos (talk) 20:21, 1 January 2019 (UTC)
The "quantity" route can also work in WikiCup.. All DYKs are eligible for points. There is no extra check except if you're obviously cheating, etc. Since you're already creating DYKs all you need to do is list those DYKs in your "submission" page (like this) and the software will calculate your score. But of course, no pressure. I'm just trying to coax you in order to see more Indonesian representation there :) HaEr48 (talk) 20:28, 1 January 2019 (UTC)

WikiCup 2019 March newsletterEdit

And so ends the first round of the competition. Everyone with a positive score moves on to Round 2. With 56 contestants qualifying, each group in Round 2 contains seven contestants, with the two leaders from each group due to qualify for Round 3 as well as the top sixteen remaining contestants.

Our top scorers in Round 1 were:

  •   L293D, a WikiCup newcomer, led the field with ten good articles on submarines for a total of 357 points.
  •   Adam Cuerden, a WikiCup veteran, came next with 274 points, mostly from eight featured pictures, restorations of artwork.
  •   MPJ-DK, a wrestling enthusiast, was in third place with 263 points, garnered from a featured list, five good articles, two DYKs and four GARs.
  •   Usernameunique came next at 243, with a featured article and a good article, both on ancient helmets.
  •   Squeamish Ossifrage was in joint fifth place with 224 points, mostly garnered from bringing the 1937 Fox vault fire to featured article status.
  •   Ed! was also on 224, with an amazing number of good article reviews (56 actually).

These contestants, like all the others, now have to start scoring points again from scratch. Between them, contestants completed reviews on 143 good articles, one hundred more than the number of good articles they claimed for, thus making a substantial dent in the review backlog. Well done all!

Remember that any content promoted after the end of Round 1 but before the start of Round 2 can be claimed in Round 2. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews.

If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Specifically, this is in pretty good shape, but needs the QPQ. Beyond the DYK requirements, I'll note that reference 8 has a problem with the Harvard referencing system (because the shortened footnote is missing the year). Squeamish Ossifrage (talk) 22:06, 7 March 2019 (UTC)

Results templateEdit

Hey Juxlos. I saw you started creating a results template. Just an FYI that these are gradually being deleted, as it's preferable to keep the results on an article – largely as (a) templates shouldn't be used for tables only used once (which usually becomes the case within a few years) and (b) template space has much fewer watchers and is prone to vandalism.

What you can do is to create the results table directly in an article, then use the {{#section-h:2019 Foolandian presidential election|Results}} function to transpose it to another article (see an example at Politics of Lithuania#Political parties and elections, where all three tables are transposed from the election articles). Cheers, Number 57 20:12, 17 April 2019 (UTC)

Thanks for the FYI - I'll transfer it to the article once the results get announced eventually. Juxlos (talk) 20:13, 17 April 2019 (UTC)

DYK for Bambang Dwi HartonoEdit

On 18 April 2019, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Bambang Dwi Hartono, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Bambang Dwi Hartono championed bus rapid transit in Surabaya as mayor, but his plans were overridden by the next mayor? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Bambang Dwi Hartono. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Bambang Dwi Hartono), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Proposed deletion of Endorsements in the 2019 Indonesian presidential electionEdit

The article Endorsements in the 2019 Indonesian presidential election has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

As per WP:NOTDIRECTORY. This is simply an enormous decontextualized list of names, many if not most non-notable.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Davidelit (Talk) 06:54, 18 April 2019 (UTC)

OK so a lot of your edits and contributions to wikipedia are good and wanted
- there is a very serious question as to the viability of an article like the endorsements -
you need to show at least 2 other countries where such articles for a start - if you cannot - why Indonesia?
regardless of the assertiveness of your moving the prod - it is now to you to justify such a monolithic item - cultural hangups about linking everything in sight?
WP:AGF means rather than reverting a prod - you need to have very good handle on the policies and precedents to have such an item on wikipedia, like a prepared statement as to why it should not be prodded - a revert without any form of discussion is tantamount to bad faith - as a reason for a prod is that the article is out of the scope of WP:ABOUT and WP:NOT. I look forward to a detailed explanation. JarrahTree 07:34, 18 April 2019 (UTC)
@JarrahTree: The talk page message I sent (probably should've made it obvious in edit summary) is a search for such articles - cursory glance, there's the US, Canada, Italy, UK, Malaysia, Czech Republic. ProD'd article is entirely sourced (per item). Juxlos (talk) 07:37, 18 April 2019 (UTC)
you have included almost every public figure in the country - that is not what other items are about - they are limited in range and scope - they a very limited to a narrow range of actors. Your have taken the idea to a very absurd extent - you do not need the volume - and it is peppered with absurd amounts of red links as well. Sorry, not a good call - I support the prod or afd unless you are able to reduce the volume - it is not what WP:ABOUT JarrahTree 07:42, 18 April 2019 (UTC)
I understand, but I maintain my stance that the article's existence is fine as is. If it is going to be brought to AfD, then so be it. Juxlos (talk) 07:45, 18 April 2019 (UTC)
Ok so you put far too much into it - try a bit of humility for once - prune it to save it - it is too big and over-reaching JarrahTree 07:48, 18 April 2019 (UTC)
references are a total missing the point - it is too big, too far reaching and large mount of red links glow out like an exploding kerosene lamp in a dark kampung - try to lower you WP:OWN of it - store the pruned parts somewhere else for something else and reduce it to the size and extent of the malaysian item and you are actually getting somewhere. JarrahTree 07:50, 18 April 2019 (UTC)
still missing the point - the red links is one thing - the other endorsements pages on wikipedia do not have
1.5 Retired military and police personnel
1.5.1 Retired Indonesian Army personnel
1.5.2 Retired Indonesian Navy personnel
1.5.3 Retired Indonesian Air Force personnel
1.5.4 Retired Indonesian National Police personnel
1.6 Businesspeople
1.7 Celebrities
1.8 Religious figures
1.9 Newspapers, television channels, and other media

the sense of what the other articles actually have is political figures higher up the food chain - - really they might seem like influencers in Indonesian society - but it is still far too big and over-reaching in an article of its sort. JarrahTree 08:00, 18 April 2019 (UTC)

I have no idea where to draw the line between "important enough for this article" and "not important enough" here. Clearly SBY and Megawati are in, but should Ridwan Kamil? F.X. Hadi Rudyatmo? Via Vallen? Ruhut Sitompul [id]? Difficult to make a judgement call on notability/influence for each one of them. I recommend @Flix11: participate in the discussion as well considering his additions to the article. Juxlos (talk) 08:18, 18 April 2019 (UTC)
List of Donald Trump 2016 presidential campaign endorsements and List of Hillary Clinton 2016 presidential campaign political endorsements have those, I just implemented those. For about red links, well there are small [id]s next to them so I do not see this should be a serious matter. – Flix11 (talk) 08:43, 18 April 2019 (UTC)
The line is very clearly indicated in the Malaysian example - keep it short and sweet. It is not a line of preference in a Yogya or Solo funeral cortege where every person from every part of everything is mentioned and listed - a reasonable short list with blue links is all that is really needed.

I am fully aware of the intense precoccupation if not awareness many Javanese (for instance) have for heirarchy and all the parts of the food chain related to it - and acknowledgement of it - it was my job over 20 years ago to observe the cultural trappings - whether it was in language or other cultural expressions. I know the baggage that goes with lists and the order of things - it was a phenomenon of the new order to have lists before anything else. In the case of this contemporary item - the extra bits of retired military, celebrities and business people is really over-doing it. JarrahTree 10:25, 18 April 2019 (UTC)

Election mapsEdit

Hi. Ignoring our argument about Endorsements in the 2019 Indonesian presidential election :-), where did you get the mapping info for the very good File:Electoral_Districts_Indonesia_DPR_2019.svg that you made? I've been looking for a map of kabupaten in Java to illustrate the 1957 Indonesian local elections article with maps of where the various parties won the largest share, but I can't find any on Wikipedia. It looks as if the 1957 electoral district borders were the same as the 2019 borders, but with a few districts split into smaller parts, so if it's OK, I was going to steal and adit part of your map... Regards Davidelit (Talk) 07:56, 18 April 2019 (UTC)

Well, I started out with a geoJSON for the Kabupaten and made it into a SVG, then semi-manually colored the regencies using a script. To be honest - I sort of forgot how exactly I did it.
Individual kabupaten are individual shapes in the map so you can probably use a SVG editor for that purpose though. Juxlos (talk) 08:04, 18 April 2019 (UTC)
Thanks. Soundly like a activity for my holiday in this quiet Indonesian village... Regards Davidelit (Talk) 08:08, 18 April 2019 (UTC)
