Hello. Venus is a Featured Article, that is, it is held to be amongst the best articles in Wikipedia in terms of accuracy, neutrality, completeness, and style. When editing such articles, please check that your edits are properly formatted (see the rest of the article for how references are made, particularly with regard to external links). I would edit it myself and fix it, but before doing so, do you have a better source than skytonight.com and aerospaceweb.org for this paragraph? General epistles

In biblical literature usually is used the Catholic epistles (e.g. Metzger, Rhodes). Almost every biblical scholar use this term. I do not know why wikipedia uses General epistles, perhaps we should change it. We can use two of them, but Catholic epistles typical for the biblical scholars. In America, "catholic" is almost never used by laymen to mean anything other than Roman Catholic. Therefore, its use in the phrase "Catholic epistles" (especially when "Catholic" is capitalized!) is misleading when read by laymen. The entry in the list article does not need to be as complete as the detailed coverage elsewhere. We may want to create a separate section subheading in the First Baptist Church article, so the entry in the List of scandals article can link to it via the {{Main}} template. Re: Why We Love Dogs, Eat Pigs, and Wear Cows

Aloha. I have a few questions about your latest edits. First of all, you say that "Joy does not generally identify herself as an animal "rights" activist". I'm curious about hearing more on that subject, but the majority of the sources refer to her as such. You also changed "animal rights" scholars to "animal advocates". I'm guessing you have a reason for this as well. I'm not a big fan of external links sections, as I believe much of the time such links can be best incorporated into the body of the article as references. This helps avoid a lot of the spammy links people add. Which brings us to the "Vegan Mainstream" link. I think VM is a great idea, and I would like to know more about it, but I'm not convinced it makes for an appropriate link in this article. On the other hand, if there is anything we can use in the article about the book, it may be useful as a reference. Considering the previous controversy (linked on the talk page) that this article went through, including the three separate deletion discussions, I think it is an extremely bad idea to return to the same problematic editing that led to its deletion. I have intentionally tried to steer the article away from these issues and to use only the highest quality sources. It may be that you are not familiar with these problems, but linking to a marketing source and a commercial website, while removing commonly used language seems to be placing the article in jeopardy once again. Shalom, Viriditas. You say, "Considering the previous controversy (linked on the talk page) that this article went through, including the three separate deletion discussions, ..."; I beg to point out that it wasn't this article that underwent controversy; it was the "Melanie Joy" article and the "Carnism" article.

To expand on my note, I don't see that Joy particularly identifies herself as a proponent of "animal rights", "animal protection", "animal welfare", "animal liberation", or an "abolitionist". These terms all have varying shades of meaning and may roughly be placed at various spots on a spectrum of animal-movement ideology. Consider Wayne Pacelle, the president of HSUS. Pacelle almost invariably refers to himself and to the HSUS using the phrase "animal protection". He correctly avoids self-identifying as an "animal rights" proponent, as that would convey an incorrect connotation. Yet, if you Google <<"wayne pacelle" "animal rights">> you get 44,100 hits, whereas if you Google <<"wayne pacelle" "animal protection">> you get only 26,300 hits. Why do so many people apply the term "animal rights" when it is not appropriate? One reason is that many people don't know the difference. More reasons: "animal rights" takes fewer letters to spell and fewer syllables to say. Another reason: people opposed to the animal movement understand that much of the public is rubbed the wrong way by the phrase "animal rights", so they deliberately apply that phrase to their opponents in order to discredit them. An example: "In 2004 Wayne Pacelle was named president of the world’s richest animal rights organization, the Humane Society of the United States." (http://www.humanewatch.org/person/wayne_pacelle/). Another example: "Wayne Pacelle is the president and CEO of the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), an extremist animal rights group that deceptively portrays itself as an animal welfare organization." Viriditas: I resume my response to your comments and questions. I understand that you are "not a big fan of external links sections". However, it is normal for a good Wikipedia article to contain an External links section. I just checked the Wikipedia "Today's featured article" for the 31 days of October 2013 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Today%27s_featured_article/October_2013) and found that 21 of the articles have External links sections and 10 do not (the 10 are the articles for October 10, 11, 12, 16, 18, 20, 24, 26, 30, and 31).

It is normal for the Wikipedia article about a commercial publication to list the publication's "Official website" in its Exernal links section. Examples:

• The_New_York_Times#External_links
• Chicago_Tribune#External_links
• Time_(magazine)#External_links
• U.S._News_&_World_Report#External_links

As to the link to the author interview (http://www.veganmainstream.com/2012/02/24/feature-interview-melanie-joy-on-books-documentaries-and-carnism/), the interview is mostly about this book, so it's very appropriate to include this link. Wideangle (talk) 01:46, 14 November 2013 (UTC)

WP:BLP and reliable sourcing

Hi Wideangle. I've just undone your recent addition to Gary Yourofsky. Your addition cited a forum post (which in turned linked to an inaccessible newspaper link) and contained negative (and negatively-phrased) information about a living person. Per our policy on handling the biographies of living people, information added to these articles must be reliably sourced and neutrally handled, and that goes double for negative information. A forum post doesn't meet that bar of reliability, and at any rate even if the information were sourced, we would cover it with an encyclopedic voice and not provide colorful, conclusion-drawing commentary like "emotional outburst", "Yourofsky was angered" or "slung [something]". American Independent Party and the 2016 presidential election

First off, the AIP is only active in California, so whoever wins that state's primary is the nominee unless the nominee drops out. Second, America's Party and Tom Hoefling both admit they are no longer affiliated with the AIP. (This was posted on the party's own Facebook page.) The source that was on this page claiming Hoefling was going to be the nominee, I might add, was from June and before the primary was actually held, so it appears to have been made in error. Hoefling ran in the AIP primary but lost. Unless Spears withdrew from the race, it appears he's the AIP nominee for President. J. Myrle Fuller (talk) 20:15, 7 August 2016 (UTC)

The article from The New York Times confirms his notability, but makes no mention of Parsippany HS, let alone Parsippany; it's inclusion here may lead other editors to mistakenly believe that it establishes a connection for Ayers to the school. It was the way the NYT source was added that made it appear that it was about his notability; it does mention Parsippany, but nothing more. The underlying issue is that neither source, whether the Times or Moment magazine, mention Parsippany High School. The classcreator.com site does, but isn't reliable. Footnote on Gabbard

The quote you inserted from the NY Times journalist lacks parallelism and is ambiguous. Yes, "she would be the first female president". But she would not be "the first American Samoan, the first from Hawaii, the first surfer, the first vegan." She would be the first president of American Samoan descent, …. Also the “lays claim” makes it appear Gabbard might have made these statements about herself rather than these being attributions made by the journalist. I think it should be removed. Thoughts? Copying within Wikipedia

This type of edit does get picked up by Copy Patrol and a good edit summary helps to make sure we don't accidentally revert it. However, for future use, would you note the best practices wording as outlined at Wikipedia:Copying_within_Wikipedia? In particular, linking to the source article and adding the phrase "see that page's history for attribution" helps ensure that proper attribution is preserved.

While best practices are that attribution should be added to the edit summary at the time the edit is made, the linked article on best practices describes the appropriate steps to add attribution after the fact. I hope you will do so.
