Yangluo bridge opening

Noticed the addition if this new bridge to the list of longest suspension bridge spans. Do you have a link to information about the opening of the bridge? At #9, it seems well worth having its own article, and perhaps a DYK mention. I haven't found any information about it. -- ☑ SamuelWantman 20:46, 29 December 2007 (UTC)

For sure, this is only one source in english (published on various webpages) [1]. Note that it is mentioned as cable-stayed bridge, altough it is obviously suspension. There are more sources in Chinese language. Unfortunately i cannot speak chinese, i am just using automatic translators, so i do not feel to be right person to create good article about that bridge, i can only create some short stub. --Jklamo (talk) 01:30, 30 December 2007 (UTC)

Aircraft carrier class names

Why are you orphaning and tagging for deletion plausible abbreviated class names like Ford class? If one person has used it in the past, someone is likely to use it again in the future even if it is orphaned. Eluchil404 (talk) 22:40, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

E50

I was wondering about setting up a table to show the itinerary on this entry. It doesn't seem to have any very regular contributors, and I'm not sure a lot of people are taking time with these E-route entries. BUT I see that you are interested in this one. Good. Here are my questions:

The table I have in mind is inspired by Italian wiki itinerary table on some of the E roads. I've already experimented a little with adapting the format for English wiki - eg E27 (see also discussion page for that entry if you've time to follow this up) or E313, but E50 would be a much bigger project, and I don't want to take the time if either (1) someone else - you? - is already working on the same thing or (2) the format needs - or would be helped by - improvement before going further.

Do you have any thoughts to share on this, please?

Why Is the Bridge of the Americas a Cantilever Bridge?

I see that you reverted the List of longest cantilever bridges to put Bridge of the Americas back on the list after it was removed. Please explain on the Talk:Bridge of the Americas why you say that this bridge is a cantilever bridge. There was a previous discussion on that page that agreed it was not a cantilever. - SCgatorFan (talk) 02:29, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

List of companies by revenue

Hi. PetroChina is listed on the list ($149.3 billion), but its parent company is the CNPC. Its annual report shows no revenue but only operating income. But even the operating income itself is bigger thatn PetroChina's revenue. I don't know if I should just keep PetroChina or what. Any help?? Jonathansuh (talk) 23:31, 30 November 2010 (UTC)

As in its annual report "operating costs" are subtracted from "operating income", think that "operating income"=revenue, "operating costs"=expenses, "operating profit"=operating income. However i am not sure, if CNPC "consolidated" revenue (1,218,278 RMB mil) is including Petrochina revenue (1,019,275 RMB mil), as there is no list of consolidated companies in CNPC annual report. If yes, i think we should list only CNPC, if not than we shold list both of them.--Jklamo (talk) 09:16, 1 December 2010 (UTC)

Another issue. Even the so-called "reliable" sources don't match up with financial exchange rates. The European Central Bank states that the December 31st, 2009 exchange rate for euro is: 1 euro = 1.4406 US dollars. However, FED states that it is 1.4332 USD. What the heck do we do? What are these "financial exchange rates"? There are multiple exchange markets, different last hour of day for different countries etc., thus it is not surprising that rates are different depending on source (oanda.com, site that I used to for exchange rates in past, is listing 1 EUR = 1.43322 USD for same day - so again different rate compared to ECB or FED rates). I proposed FED as source because list is in US dollars so use US "central bank" rates seems to be most suitable. We must just select some source (and list it somewhere in article). Anyway my opinion about choosing source is not so strong, so if you have some primary source with same coverage and reliability, feel free to post it and we can discuss it (better on article discussion page than here). --Jklamo (talk) 10:22, 7 December 2010 (UTC)

Hi friend, I just reverted your edits, as you said while reverting my changes that "rv, stated as vision on skyscraperpage" if you read carefully on skyscraperpage i.e. here, which actually refers CTBUH as source, and CTBUH says its under construction. ref1, ref2 ref3 if you still want to see real progress about project, please follow this link [http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=610347&page=28 ref4], I will be uploading few image to wiki/commons which shows its u/c. Found another source(http://www.pozzocrete.co.in/index.php?id=69&tx_ttnews[tt_news]=148&tx_ttnews[backPid]=4&cHash=95ebc8b5da) which says they started providing POZZOCRETE 63 (concrete) to project in Aug 2010. CTBUH is not always right. CTBUH is only the source for the height. I still miss a official statement by the developer that it is really under-construction. If you have a look at the architects website (Foster+Partners) you won't find that project there. At least, World One is also not under-construction yet. Jerchel (talk) 14:49, 20 January 2011 (UTC)

Please do not restore this image to that article again. The use of non-free images on lists such as this, especially when a main article exists for it, is not supported. hi, that category seems to be geographically-based, so i think that is not so relevant. But if you do not want to have it in general Category:Lists of superlatives, i agree that it is most relevant from its sub-categories (Cateogry:Lists of tallest structures seems to be less relevant). Thanks. I appreciate that "highest points" seems like a geographical distinction, but as you say, it's the most relevant of the superlative sub-cats. List of Longest Tunnels

Hello! This article lists the longest tunnels in the world: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_longest_tunnels_in_the_world

This article lists another tunnel: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thirlmere_Aqueduct

As you can see, the articles contradict each other. Therefore, I changed the first article so that Thirlmere was at the top of it. However, when I checked the article again several weeks later, it had returned to its current state! I asked Wikipedia what had happened, and they told me "The edit was made by a user called Jklamo. The 'Wiki way' when you want to contest someone's edit is to politely post on their user talk page, asking them why they made the edit".

Problems are: missing spaces, excess spaces, bad wikilinks (not only because of missing articles, but also because of incorrect formation) and use of non-existent templates on cswiki (I already fixed bad infobox with artifacts from denegue article). Many thanks. So we do inform all the translators when the articles are added and invite them to come fix the last few issues. The translations however are not being added by the translators but by a few of us English speakers. We are trying to recruit local Wikipedians to help and have managed in a number of languages but not yet unfortunately in Czech.

I think I have removed most of the templates that are none existent have I not? We are going through the source file to remove templates before translation so hopefully this will be less of an issue going forwards. Will look into the issue with spaces. New Page Review needs your help

Hi Jklamo,

As an AfC reviewer you're probably aware that a new user right has been created for patrolling new pages (you might even have been granted the right already, and admins have it automatically).

Since July there has been a very serious backlog at Special:NewPagesFeed of over 14,000 pages, by far the worst since 2011, and we need an all out drive to get this back down to just a few hundred that can be easily maintained in the future. Unlike AfC, these pages are already in mainspace, and the thought of what might be there is quite scary. There are also many good faith article creators who need a simple, gentle push to the Tea House or their pages converted to Draft rather than being deleted.

Although New Page Reviewing can occasionally be somewhat more challenging than AfC, the criteria for obtaining the right are roughly the same. The Page Curation tool is even easier to use than the Helper Script, so it's likely that most AfC reviewers already have more than enough knowledge for the task of New Page Review.

It is hoped that AfC reviewers will apply for this right at WP:PERM and lend a hand. You'll need to have read the page at WP:NPR and the new tutorial.

Motor vehicle ranking

In the spirit of WP:BRD, can we all agree to stop editing/reverting articles concerning the ranking of motor vehicle production and to try to discuss it instead. After we have some form of resolution from the discussion (or at least an edict from the administrators), then we can make the articles match to whatever the discussion resolved.

Furthermore, a discussion spread out over many talk pages is hard to follow and mostly results in the same arguments being repeated for no benefit. If it failed to convince anyone at one talk page then why would it convince the same people at another page?

I suggest we put the majority of our discussion at Talk:List of manufacturers by motor vehicle production.

Changing name of Solovki prison camp; removing unrelated item from Languages on Dmitriev page

Dear Jklamo

I have followed your suggestions in revising several articles. Instead of saving each change as and when it's made I am trying to make several changes each time and then, after checking in the Preview mode, and making any further adjustments, saving the lot.

(One reason for my earlier practice is that I began editing online in the 1990s when email and, indeed, computers were far more volatile in their behaviour. The habit was tehn acquired of saving often to avoid sudden loss of any alteration.)

Now I face two principal tasks and would welcome your guidance:

1. For reasons stated on the Talk page I feel strongly that the name of the Solovki entry should be changed from the oxymoronic "prison camp" to special prison. No one has yet repled. How long do I wait before invoking Move?

2. Under languages a link appeared recently on the Yury Dmitriev page to a page in Arabic script.

After investigation with the help of a good linguist it has been established that this page probably originates from Azeri speakers in Iran and has NOTHING to do with Yury Dmitriev (it concerns legal definitions and does not mention the Karelian activist).

How can that unrelated link be removed? I have tried and so far not succeeded in getting rid of this unwanted and distracting addition to the page.

"half-year" results as ridership in List of metro system article

I saw you reverted my last edit because of it, but I want to make very clear that I merely fixed the form of a bad-shaped reference, without endorsing the substance of it. As a matter of fact, reading the source (a thing I did in order to correctly fill in the "cite web" template) it's obvious the contributor who firstly made the edit somewhat extrapolated the figure since:

• the source refers unambiguously to the year 2017, which has not yet ended;
• the source reports a different number from that in the table (1.23 instead of 3.0 millions), and attributes it to the first semester.

Therefore, aside from reshaping the reference in a way it'll "work", I added that caveat. If such an "extrapolated from partial" ridership figure doesn't comply with the consensus on that Wiki article, you'll have to blame the original contributor (who used such a data), and not me: deleting my caveat doesn't change the fact that the mentioned ridership of 3 million passengers is only a projections, and not a real, past data. If you want a policy-compliant figure, you'll have to retrieve the previous one (and its reference) searching in the revision history or to substitute it with an n/a, as a not-available data: which do you prefer? I eventually found (by chance) a source wich reports the latest (2016) ridership figure for this system, therefore I fixed that cell in the table (which meantime has become even more a mess): it's a little late - more than two months after we spoke about it and near the end of the year, which will make "outdated" the newly added data - but, as it's said, better late than never! Rampion Windfarm

Thanks for your edits to the Rampion page, but I think they are premature.

The wind farm is still under construction, and although all turbines have now produced power at one time or another, work is still underway both onshore and offshore (ref the additional reference you added "Over the coming months, work will continue both on and offshore, to prepare the site for full operation later this year." - indeed a couple of days ago, all turbines were stopped (I can see them from near my house) despite medium wind speed, low renewable generation and high grid demand. This is most likely due to ongoing commissioning work at the electrical substations and/or cable route.

The operator's page for the wind farm also shows "The wind farm has started generating power, with first electricity delivered to the grid in November 2017. It will be completed and fully operational in 2018." at https://www.rampionoffshore.com/

http://www.4coffshore.com/windfarms/rampion-united-kingdom-uk36.html states "Partial Generation/Under Construction" - which is also the case as far as I know.

Please can you revise your edits to reflect this, and only put the status to operational once the wind farm is fully commissioned?
