Managing a conflict of interest edit

  Hello, J97736. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Juliet Cadzow, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Stephanie Aird moved to draftspace edit

An article you recently created, Stephanie Aird, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. June 2022 edit

  Hi J97736! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at Tameko Star that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia – it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Thank you. — rsjaffe 🗣️ 20:26, 12 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Thank you. Why would the article be deleted? Livin Joy are a huge 90s group in which Tameko was part of. J97736 (talk) 20:35, 12 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

The article is not about Livin Joy. She certainly can be in Livin Joy article if that group is significant. The question is whether there is significant independent secondary coverage of her. If you can find some and include it in the article, that would help. (Interviews are not secondary nor independent.) — rsjaffe 🗣️ 21:01, 12 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

  Welcome to Wikipedia. Please do not remove Articles for deletion notices from articles, or remove other people's comments in Articles for deletion debates, as you did with Tameko Star. Otherwise, it may be difficult to create consensus. If you oppose the deletion of an article, please comment at the respective page instead. Thank you. — rsjaffe 🗣️ 21:04, 12 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

  Please do not add unreferenced or poorly referenced information, especially if controversial, to articles or any other page on Wikipedia about living (or recently deceased) persons, as you did to Juliet Cadzow. Thank you. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 04:25, 13 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Ways to improve Elaine Mackenzie Ellis edit

Hello, J97736,

Thank you for creating Elaine Mackenzie Ellis.

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

Hi. Thanks for creating this article. However, when it came to checking the references, I struggled to find mentions of Ellis. Also, notability requires substantial coverage in reliable independent sources (ie: more than passing mentions - for example, in cast lists).

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Paul W}}. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Speedy deletion nomination of Tameko Star (Singer) edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Tameko Star (Singer) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, such as at Articles for deletion. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discussion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. 2A01:4C8:63:D401:81CE:E1D1:804D:84E2 (talk) 16:57, 4 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Roger Thames edit

The article Roger Thames has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

BLP, fails GNG and BIO. BEFORE showed promo nothing that meets SIGCOV addressing the subject directly and in-depth.  // Timothy :: talk  00:25, 8 April 2023 (UTC)

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.  // Timothy :: talk  00:25, 8 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Durham On Air edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Durham On Air requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://radiotoday.co.uk/2020/10/durham-onair-radio-service-set-to-launch-online/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

A quote like that is still not acceptable, and there is other material closely paraphrased from the web site that I have removed. -- Whpq (talk) 12:31, 30 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
What are the rules re quotes as I have seen multiple articles with quotes like that. J97736 (talk) 09:48, 13 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Wikipedia:Do not include the full text of lengthy primary sources and the essay Wikipedia:Quotations provide some guidance. Introduction to contentious topics edit

You have recently edited a page related to articles about living or recently deceased people, and edits relating to the subject (living or recently deceased) of such biographical articles, a topic designated as contentious. This standard message is designed as an introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially-designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Links to draft articles edit

  Please do not introduce links in actual articles to draft articles, as you did to List of films and television shows shot in Liverpool and Louis Emerick. Since a draft is not yet ready for the main article space, it is not in shape for ordinary readers, and links from articles should not go to a draft. Such links are contrary to the Manual of Style.
