Tagging User pages for deletion

Hello, GPL93,

I have a request to make of you while you are patrolling pages. Many new editors do not realize that they shouldn't use their main User page for article drafts. So, if you see a User page with what looks like an article draft, please move it to Draft space rather than tagging the page for deletion. The placement of the page could be a simple misunderstanding and the page doesn't need to be deleted. Of course, if it is self-promotional, feel free to tag it but if it is a draft on another subject, please consider draftifying the page.

You can draftify articles by using this simple script, User:Evad37/MoveToDraft, which will move the draft and also notify the editor what is happening. Thank you! Liz Read! Talk! 04:55, 6 January 2022 (UTC)

@EmmyGrammyWhatever: I nominated your user page for deletion because it violated guidelines, but I did not nominate the article for deletion. I recommend reading the reasoning for the deletion nomination or asking the nominator directly. Best, GPL93 (talk) 22:06, 22 February 2022 (UTC)

I am not, the deleting admin for the user page was Athaenara. Malikul Mout is not an admin either and has only been editing for a few days themselves, although almost all edits appear to be from someone with more advanced knowledge of how Wikipedia works than a brand new editor. Speedy deletion nomination of Joaquin natividad

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on Joaquin natividad requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, images, a rephrasing of the title, a question that should have been asked at the help or reference desks, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. ––FormalDude talk 03:29, 17 March 2022 (UTC)

Ahmad Gooden

Because I have limited options, I can't edit certain pages. So I was asking if you could do me a favor and add on Ahmad Gooden that he played for the TSL Conquerors. This is the link where I got this information from https://usflnewsroom.com/news/the-spring-league-north-division-transactions-announced/. Anyways, I hope you are having a good day. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Karate LemonLime (talkcontribs) 14:48, 5 April 2022 (UTC)

@Karate LemonLime: No problem. I did use a different reference as I'm not sure that usflnewsroom would constitute a reliable source. As a helpful tip, I recommend searching a player's name and a piece of information about their career (ex: "John Smith" and "ACL injury" or "1,200 yards") as that usually brings up specific RS articles to use. NFL Draft prospects

I just wanted to give you props for all the draft prospect articles you've created. You're a savage haha. Keep up the excellent work.-- Yankees10 19:11, 30 April 2022 (UTC)

@Yankees10: Thanks! Same with you and props for creating the draft pick articles so quickly on the fly. I figured with all the complaining by some editors about athlete article stubs that never get expanded that the best move was to try to create them and then after being drafted the article has at least two sections. Autopatrolled granted

Hi GPL93, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the "autopatrolled" permission to your account, as you have created numerous, valid articles. This feature will have no effect on your editing, and is simply intended to reduce the workload on new page patrollers. For more information on the autopatrolled right, see Wikipedia:Autopatrolled. However, you should consider adding relevant wikiproject talk-page templates, stub-tags and categories to new articles that you create if you aren't already in the habit of doing so, since your articles will no longer be systematically checked by other editors (User:Evad37/rater and User:SD0001/StubSorter.js are useful scripts which can help). Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! ~Swarm~ {sting} 00:24, 5 May 2022 (UTC)

Ways to improve DaRon Bland

Hello, GPL93,

Thank you for creating DaRon Bland.

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

This article needs more references to satisfy notability for sport. What is needed are references from significant coverage about the topic of the article, and independent of it, in multiple secondary sources which are WP:RS; that is your guide. You may also read WP:PRIMARY which details the limited permitted usage of primary sources. A more comprehensive guide is WP:SOURCES ... Providing sufficient references, ideally one per fact referred to, that meet these tough criteria is likely to allow this article to remain. Lack of them or an inability to find them is likely to mean that the article may not be suitable for inclusion.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Whiteguru}}. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Speedy deletion nomination of Isaiah Thomas (American football)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Isaiah Thomas (American football) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

Speedy deletion nomination of James Levesque (pastor)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on James Levesque (pastor), requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:

PRAXIDICAE🌈 19:19, 7 July 2022 (UTC)

@Praxidicae: It looks like the editor tried to override my draftify attempt, so you may want to leave a notice (and probably a COI warning) on their talk page. Best, GPL93 (talk) 19:22, 7 July 2022 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Oyinkansola Alabi

Hello GPL93. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Oyinkansola Alabi, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Touch and go this one. The article is quite bit different from the deleted version and with better looking sources, so I don't think the G4 applies. I don't see that the Spam CSD applies either really. Needs to go back to AfD for a more thorough review. . Thank you. GedUK  08:08, 9 August 2022 (UTC)

Jamie Ritchie (baseball) moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, Jamie Ritchie (baseball), is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Ways to improve Luke McCaffrey

Hello, GPL93,

Thank you for creating Luke McCaffrey.

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

Player does not appear to meet WP:GNG nor WP:ATHLETE policies as they have not received significant coverage (beyond WPROUTINE) in multiple secondary sources, nor have they have been successful in a major competition nor won a significant honor. Moreover being related to other notable people (WP:BIORELATED) does not imply notability.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Barkeep}}. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.

BarkeepChat 16:11, 5 October 2022 (UTC)

@Barkeep: It has 20 WP:RS refs. If you believe that the subject somehow does not meet GNG, AfD would have been the appropriate venue. I have moved the article back to the main space and added an additional five references. GPL93 (talk) 16:43, 5 October 2022 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Luke McCaffrey

The article Luke McCaffrey has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Subject does not meet WP:GNG nor WP:ATHLETE policies. All references in regards to the subject fall under WP:ROUTINE coverage for sports. The article written could be about any football player at any major FBS school. Subject has not been successful in a major competition nor won a significant honor. Moreover being related to other notable people (WP:BIORELATED) does not imply notability.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. BarkeepChat 18:59, 6 October 2022 (UTC)

Please do not remove Articles for deletion notices from articles, or remove other people's comments in Articles for deletion debates, as you did with Luke McCaffrey. Otherwise, it may be difficult to create consensus. If you oppose the deletion of an article, please comment at the respective page instead. Thank you. BarkeepChat 21:32, 6 October 2022 (UTC)
@Barkeep: I removed a template for a PROD, which can be contested and removed. This article cannot be proposed for deletion again and must be nominated through articles for deletion if you have issues regarding notability. GPL93 (talk) 21:36, 6 October 2022 (UTC)
Sorry. Thought I submitted an XFD not a PROD. BarkeepChat 21:41, 6 October 2022 (UTC)
@Barkeep: no problem. I've definitely been there. Best, GPL93 (talk) 21:53, 6 October 2022 (UTC)

Nomination of Luke McCaffrey for deletion

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Luke McCaffrey is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Luke McCaffrey until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article until the discussion has finished.

Jonah Shacknai

I have made a comment at the talk page over those additions, and the work you were trying to do to unpick it. In the end the source is a "True Crime" series involving self proclaimed experts, and the legal rep of the Zahau family. It might be worth mentioning the death was featured in a TV show on her death article - but not on Jonahs. Koncorde (talk) 13:33, 3 November 2022 (UTC)

@Koncorde: It's possible that the coverage on the series could be worth noting if a more independent reference (aka not from Oxygen/NBC Universal) is found. I was mostly trying to fix the accusatory speculation that another editor recently added. Your revert makes the more sense than fixing prose though because pretty much all additions were to cast aspersions on Shacknai. Best, GPL93 (talk) 13:39, 3 November 2022 (UTC)
@Koncorde: unfortunately the editor appears to continue with POV-pushing, now at Guillermo Ford. I'll leave another warning for now although I feel like ANI might eventually be necessary. Best, GPL93 (talk) 15:30, 18 November 2022 (UTC)

Andy Kotelnicki

Just have a couple quick pieces of feedback about this article. Not sure how often you create college coach articles, but these are a couple things to remember going forward. You included the word "currently" in the lede (opening sentence), per MOS:CURRENT, currently should be avoided. Also, per MOS:LEADBIO, the lede "establish(es) notability and explain(s) why the person is notable". You mentioned he was a former player, however, he doesn't meet Wikipedia's requirements for college athletes or pro athletes due in part to no NFL playing experience and playing college football at a Division III school. Going forward, on college coach articles don't refer to them as a "former player" unless they had a notable career. The overwhelming majority of coaches played football at some point in their lives, even if it was just high school, but not all where notable. Even some Division I college athletes who went on to do other things (Bob Dole, Tommy Lee Jones, Burt Reynolds, John Wayne, 2 Chainz) don't have their athletic careers mentioned in their lede for the same reason. Otherwise, good job on the article.--Rockchalk717 22:03, 2 December 2022 (UTC)
