Can you please help? Doubts about DYK
Please help me on the doubts about DYK asked at User talk:Vanischenu#NML Cygni 2. Will the time taken for reviewing be also included in the 5 day limit for qualification? Thanks in advance. ···Vanischenu「m/Talk」 05:46, 27 August 2012 (UTC)

A closer look at User:Mcolm/User:Dubaitennis?
Hey, Crisco, could you take a closer look at these two accounts? It's pretty obvious that they're the same person (Dubaitennis edited Mcolm's article on his userpage, despite it not being live, in additin to behavioral evidence). Given that they're also pretty obviously spammers, do you think it's worth opening an SPI, or what? Thanks, Writ Keeper ⚇♔ 14:34, 27 August 2012 (UTC)
- I'd consider a duck block, but to be safe try AGFing as he may not know. I don't doubt they are the same editor. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 14:47, 27 August 2012 (UTC)
- Yeah, I'd already replied at the Teahouse with a message to that effect. To be honest, the potential for spamming is probably worse than the (harmless so far) socking, but it hasn't reached mainspace yet, so whatevs. Writ Keeper ⚇♔ 15:03, 27 August 2012 (UTC)
- It can still be speedied in user space if it's really bad. The Mcolm page, at least, is salvageable if we have references. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 15:25, 27 August 2012 (UTC)

Hi Crisco. I have a proposal at the village pump about introducing a color scheme to the text editor so it is easier for newer editors to differentiate between different kinds of syntax, particularly references. Crisco, I noticed that the hook calls him a Paralympic hopeful, and his article says that he's hoping he'll be chosen. Can these be brought up to date? According to the Indonesia at the 2012 Summer Paralympics article, he's competing in two events. That article also uses the source's spelling, which is "Setiyo" rather than "Setio", so I piped the link to your article (it had been a red link when I got there).
When you update the article and hook, let me know; I'll try to approve the modified hook as quickly as I can. Thanks! BlueMoonset (talk) 15:43, 29 August 2012 (UTC)

Oerip Soemohardjo's FAC
I'm sorry to seem to be so hard on this article, but I really do think the MilHist reviewers have fucked up, and are nodding by articles on military figures from less well represented countries such as Indonesia in some vain attempt to redress "systemic bias". Maybe you could persuade Dank to look at it again? (I can't believe he would have let through "becomeing".) Malleus Fatuorum 02:36, 1 September 2012 (UTC)

I've had a look, and done some copy-editing. I've also left some questions/points on the article talk page. I'm afraid that my knowledge of film, theatre and Indonesia is vanishingly small, so if any of my copy-edits or comments have missed the point, or are just a bit... thick, please feel free to ignore, revert or generally laugh at me. Hope this helps, and ping me if you want to follow anything up. Sarastro1 (talk) 20:27, 3 September 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks, I'll take a look. It can't be any worse than if I were reviewing a cricket-related article. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 23:16, 3 September 2012 (UTC)
- Changes looking good. I've replied on the talk page with a few more fussy prose points. As it's not a long article, I think prose needs to be glittering! If you are going to get Mark to give it a quick polish too, I think it should be just about there. Let me know when it gets to FAC. I've nothing brewing at the moment, but if it's OK with you, I might let you know when I'm next heading for FAC. It'll be cricket again, I'm afraid! So feel free to pass on it. Unblock on hold
See User talk:JackofDiamonds1#September_2012. I have placed his unblock request on hold pending some further review from you. Considering that the warring involved just two reverts and he notified the other party, a reduction in block length might be appropriate, like 48 hours. ~Amatulić (talk) 19:44, 4 September 2012 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Toshiba Satellite L300
Hello, Crisco 1492. Please could you take a look at the closure of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Toshiba Satellite L300 and the subsequent conversion of Toshiba Satellite L300 to a redirect? DYK nomination of Lambeth Homilies
Hello! Your patronizing and culturally biased commentary of Lambeth Homilies at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and there still are some issues of character that may need to be clarified, such as complete lack of taste and admin abuse. Please review the comment(s) underneath your nomination's entry and respond there as soon as possible. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know! Also, thanks for working on the kris--you did great work. Drmies (talk) 14:40, 6 September 2012 (UTC)
Hi: I was just looking this one over with a view to moving the prep set to a queue, and I came across the following incomplete sentence: "Saeroen's activities during the Japanese occupation (1942–1945) and ensuing national revolution (1945–1949)." My guess is that what's missing is "are unknown" at the end, but since I don't have access to the source I can't check whether I'm right. Yngvadottir (talk) 17:22, 6 September 2012 (UTC)

Pentangle deletions
Please stop You've been responsible for deleting a number of Pentangle album articles, then recreating them as redirects. You should just make them redirects and keep in tact the categories as well, adding {{R from album}} and tagging the talk page with {{album|class=redirect}}. Please respond on my talk once you get an opportunity. Thanks. —Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 19:32, 6 September 2012 (UTC)
- Erm, did you look at the AFDs? The consensus was a clear delete, although the point that redirects are allowed (and perhaps wanted) was what pushed me to recreate the possible search terms as redirects. The only difference was that if the article is deleted its history isn't readily accessible. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 23:04, 6 September 2012 (UTC)

your assistance please
I request you restore the complete revision history of all the articles you deleted when you closed Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Farhi Saeed bin Mohammed. Nominator claimed he had complied with WP:BEFORE -- when he either didn't bother doing so, or doesn't understand how to do so. Sufyian Barhoumi, for instance, first faced war crimes in 2005, and again last March, there was considerable coverage of him, in secondary sources.
I would like to be able to cite diffs from the revision histories of these articles in discussions elsewhere. Geo Swan (talk) 08:04, 4 September 2012 (UTC)
- Diffs for ANI? That's acceptable, but per the AFD those should be kept as redirects. Is that okay? If so, create the redirects and I'll restore the history. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 10:51, 4 September 2012 (UTC)
- The redirects were already created by another contributor. Can you restore the talk pages, as well?
- I would not turn redirects back to articles on my sole judgment, just as I would not return a userified article back to article space on my sole judgment. If I have worked on a userified article, and think whatever problem caused it to be deleted has been addressed, I generally ask the closing admin for their opinion, prior to restoring it to userspace. If the closing admin has been rude, or uncooperative, I will ask some other senior, experienced contributor.
- I once had an {{mfd}} initiated on a recently userified page, after I had done some work on it, because someone I had never had any contact with made a cross-namespace redirection, from article space, to the userified article. If you are concerned that someone else will turn some of those redirects back to articles, by all means protect them from editing, after the history restoration.
- Could you restore the history of the talk pages, as well? Geo Swan (talk) 13:54, 4 September 2012 (UTC)

possible help me?
How do I handle possibly non free images? The only place I could find was Wikipedia:Possibly unfree files and their instructions don't work for me on the file pages. eg {{puf|date=7 September 2012}} doesn't work on the image file page. See File:SahurePyramid.jpg Then add If the file is in use, also add {{pufc|File_name.ext|date=7 September 2012}} to the caption(s). But look: Pyramid of Sahure. What am I doing wrong?
These images have no clear statement that the author has given permission for his images to be freely used - just a green warning message. Is this of concern, or not?
If you are too busy, that's ok. Best wishes, MathewTownsend (talk) 22:11, 7 September 2012 (UTC)
- PUF is only for works on Wikipedia. For works on Commons you have to nominate for deletion. I'm looking into this. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 23:20, 7 September 2012 (UTC)
- Here's what I've got.
- File:SahurePyramid.jpg - Fine, the notice indeed says "all photographs ... are copyright free".
- File:Temple-sahoure-borchardt.jpg - Nominated for deletion, still copyrighted in France and the US
- File:Abousir-borchardt.jpg - Nominated for deletion, still copyrighted in the US (PD in Germany, the source country)
- File:Sahure-Pyramid - Temple 05.jpg - Fine, the notice indeed says "all photographs ... are copyright free".
- File:Sahure-Pyramid - Temple 04.jpg - Fine, the notice indeed says "all photographs ... are copyright free".
- File:Sahure-Pyramid - Temple 02.jpg - Fine, the notice indeed says "all photographs ... are copyright free".
- Hope that helps. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 23:30, 7 September 2012 (UTC)
oh that helps greatly. (But I don't see in the notice "all photographs ... are copyright free". It doesn't seem to be in that link from the WayBackMachine. Am I blind?) What's that green template on the image file supposed to be? I've never seen it before. Best, MathewTownsend (talk) 23:51, 7 September 2012 (UTC)
- It's buried under that drop-down box (the white one). Close it and you can see it. The green one means it's copyrighted, not under a CC license, but still free enough for Commons/Wikipedia. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 23:54, 7 September 2012 (UTC)
- well, that's a revelation. Never would have guessed! Thanks! MathewTownsend (talk) 00:02, 8 September 2012 (UTC)
- Da nada. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 00:10, 8 September 2012 (UTC)
Hey
Hi. Just a quick tip. In future, when passing TV articles to GA, please remember to have |topic=television
in the coding, so it shows more specifically. That's all. Cheers, TBrandley 23:51, 7 September 2012 (UTC)
- Thought the bot handled that. WP:GAN didn't include it with the instructions. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 23:53, 7 September 2012 (UTC)

- Gimmebot reformats the basic GA template into an article history, along with anything else present (DYK, PR etc); Legobot adds an oldid for the reviewed version; but neither of them will add a GA category. When you think about it, it's present in the nom template so it'll be removed in the pass template unless manually kept; you can be as vague or specific with it as you like. "Theatre, film and drama" works for anything located on WP:Good articles/Theatre, film and drama so you don't need to worry about whether it's "television", "film", etc (handy when there's tricky cases of, say, actors known for both media). Also fling a name at me and I'll try to get it reviewed tonight or tomorrow. GRAPPLE X 00:07, 8 September 2012 (UTC)

Hi Crisco, I've just posted a review of this article at Talk:Sudirman/GA1. I've been intending to review this for a while, but have been busy with other things - given Sudirman's status I'm surprised that no-one grabbed the article before me. Regards, Nick-D (talk) 11:06, 9 September 2012 (UTC)

Markup needed
I'm rasslin' with the format at Laumeier Sculpture Park--I need to display the third section "Other works by notable artists" just below the image of the red sculpture (instead the image overlapping into it); that way the columns will spread out properly. Effendi FAC
Hey Crisco, if you see nominations like this one that are obviously unprepared, adding a suggestion for withdrawal or PR to your !vote will flag the delegates to archive a lot faster than a simple oppose (and adding a link to PR gives this relatively inexperienced editor an alternate avenue for critique). Just FYI. Nikkimaria (talk) 20:35, 9 September 2012 (UTC)

I understand that you are a busy editor, but maybe in exchange for the Terang Boelan peer review I was wondering if you could take time to have a look at a project I've spent quite some time on—Love the Way You Lie. There is a PR page open at Wikipedia:Peer review/Love the Way You Lie/archive2, so maybe if you have time you can give your two cents on the article? Thank you in advance! —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 19:39, 10 September 2012 (UTC)
- I'll try and take a look sometime this week. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 23:12, 10 September 2012 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for September 11
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Karnadi Anemer Bangkong, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Sundanese and Single system (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

strange DYK bot message
Hi Crisco, do you know why I got this message? The DYK appeared on the main page on Sept 3, but the bot seems to think it is still unfinished. Thanks. -Zanhe (talk) 18:57, 11 September 2012 (UTC)

Quick DYK review?
Crisco, can I ask you to do a quick review of Template:Did you know nominations/Cody Meakin? It basically just needs confirmation of the latest hook (mine, unfortunately, because I couldn't get one that could be passed out of anyone else. Secretlondon ended up adding to the article, which meant no approval from that corner, either. There shouldn't be much to be done: both article and hook have been tidied. This was perhaps one of the most interesting Paralympian hooks that Laura created, only it was too long (and passed anyway); once I caught the problem, it seemed to get stuck, probably because it was in the special holding area and no one paid it attention.
Thanks for anything you can do here. BlueMoonset (talk) 04:19, 12 September 2012 (UTC)
- Done. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 04:44, 12 September 2012 (UTC)
