David Leonard (born 22 December 1943) is a British publisher and bookseller.

He was educated at Queen Elizabeth's Hospital, Bristol, and the University of Exeter where he worked initially as a librarian, but joined Dance Books in 1967, soon rising to the position of managing director. He initiated the company's publishing project in 1971 with a reprint of Marius Petipa's autobiography and has since published more than 200 books covering virtually all aspects of dance.

In 2009 he founded the Noverre Press, a reprint company specialising in short runs of obscures titles. [1][2] [3] [4]
