WP:ITN/C and WWI wikiproject

Thanks for the support at the ITN/C nomination I made. It has been a long time since I posted there, so I'm not clear what the current norms are, but given that it was posted rather late and has received little attention so far, is there a way that it is acceptable to ask for more attention to be given to that nomination before it becomes too stale? I think the date sections are archived seven days after the are started, and that even if the nomination is supported it would be placed somewhere chronologically in the current listings (i.e. not at the top). Is that right? Even if it doesn't get posted, I'm hoping more people will help out with that topic area. I've posted something here if you are interested in helping out further. There's still some time, but it's tough when the nom is way below the fold like that. The good news is that ITNC hasn't been super active lately, so at least it's not getting buried further by additional nominations. Unfortunately, I can't really thing of a good way to ask for more attention on this without veering into WP:CANVAS territory. Thanks for this. I think the only people I can reasonably ping about this that I haven't already (the four editors I notified about this at WT:ITN/C who commented in the original discussion have not yet commented on the new nomination - not had time to check if they have edited since) are: User:Count Iblis (who made the original nomination that I followed up on) and User:Ktr101 (who has edited the article). It's related to oversight, I think. My revdels were for the two most recent edits before protection, and shouldn't have affected those edits. Or maybe there's a bug in the software. I don't think there's any great like or dislike at work here. Historically speaking, I've done a decent amount of vandal reverting, so any userpage vandalism is usually payback for being blocked or reverted by me. I'm an admin, so I suppose that sometimes makes me a bigger target as well. I usually keep my userpage unprotected unless the vandalism is unmanageable, on the basis that any damage is easily repaired and I'd rather they wreck my mostly-blank userpage than an actual article. When I was more active it was a lot worse, but right now it's about once or twice per month, I think, which isn't even worth worrying about. --Bongwarrior (talk) 05:25, 5 December 2014 (UTC)

Block of Idekmiky

Hi, Bongwarrior! I noticed your block or Idekmiky (talk · contribs). Did you consider talking to the user first? I see no warning on the user page that would help this user improve their editing skills.

I presume you blocked them because of this edit, which is indeed bad, but which can be seen as OR, with a little bit of AGF. A few other edits aren't quite following our guidelines, but they all appear in good faith, and most of them are still the current version. (Excluding one where the user correctly found a problem, but didn't quite know how to fix. In fact, I became aware of the block when I wanted to thank and instruct them.)

WP:BLOCK sets the criterion as follows: "a user may be blocked when his or her conduct severely disrupts the project". Do you feel this was the case? — Sebastian 07:26, 12 January 2015 (UTC)

The user's other edits were trivial, made only so they could gain autoconfirmed status and vandalize the Louis Tomlinson article, which is semiprotected indefinitely (note that they made exactly ten other edits and waited exactly four days). Well, it was removed for being a little too trivial in addition to being unsourced. I'd tend to agree with the trivial part, but I don't have a particularly strong opinion either way. There are several templates you can use to add references - {{cite news}} is the one I use most often, but there are others. Just copy and paste the template at the end of whatever needs referencing, fill out as many of the fields as you can, and leave out the ones you don't need. At the very least the part about the Koch bros making the first tea party website in 2002 should be removed in my opinion. Anyone can claim their website is a "tea party" website. There really isn't any evidence to support the claim that the Koch Brothers made the first tea party website in 2002. Bruce/Caitlyn Jenner biography

Hello, I wanted to make a couple of remarks about this biography. I noticed that when you google Bruce Jenner there are no wikipedia results to show. I know there is a way of keeping the original name of the person (so it appears as a result in a search), and the Wikipedia will redirect you to the new version. I wanted to know if that could be done (I don't know how to do it myself). The other thing is a request (I don't know where am I suppose to address it, really): Is it possible that the article keeps the masculine article for the parts of Jenner's biography when he was identifying himself as a male? I mean, have you read the new version? It simply doesn't make sense to say that "she won the decathlon", among others things because "She" wouldn't have been allowd to compete in a masculine-only event. The writing is simply incorrect (at least from a gramatical point of view). I get why it was done (respect for his present gender identification), but considering that this person has done a lot of things as a male, it would be preferable if the gender is keep masculine until 2015 (at least when you mention his olympic medal, or his marriages to women). I hope you can help me present this as a topic in Wikipedia. The article, as it stands now, is really hard to read. Also, forgive my English (Spanish as mother lenguaje here, hello). Your English is better than mine! I'm not noticing the Google problem that you mention - the article still comes up as the first listing for me, so maybe it was a temporary issue that has since been fixed. About the he/she issue, according to the relevant guideline (MOS:IDENTITY), we defer to the subject's preference for the entire article. Which, as you point out, can make for some awkward and illogical phrasing, but the article has been very active today after Jenner's announcement and is still in a state of flux. It might take a little time, but I'd expect any grammar issues or logical inconsistencies to be straightened out shortly. --Bongwarrior (talk) 04:15, 2 June 2015 (UTC)
