Your GANs edit

Please read through the Good articles criteria before nominating articles. Medina and Mecca both need reliable sources at the end of every factual statement (especially at the end of every paragraph). Your history sections are also divided into far too many sub-headings; ideally, an article should only have up to seven subheadings per major section. SounderBruce 02:46, 30 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

@SounderBruce: Hey! Thanks for the feedback! I have added more citations to the Medina article and merged some of the subsections in history as you suggested. I will do the same with the Mecca article when I am able, otherwise, I think Medina meets all of the criteria for a GA. --AccordingClass (talk) 04:23, 30 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Mecca and Medina edit

Those are the city names in English. Your change in usage to Macca and Madinah is inappropriate.--Khajidha (talk) 14:01, 2 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Khajidha: I will take care of that but that does not justify your reverting of the article. --AccordingClass (talk) 15:32, 2 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Teahouse talkback: you've got messages! edit

Hello, AccordingClass. Your question has been answered at the Teahouse Q&A board. Feel free to reply there!

Saudi administrative divisions. edit

"issued on 27 Sha'baan 1412 AH (March 2, 1992) by Royal Order A/92, amended by Royal Order No. A/21 on 30 Rabi' al-Awal 1414 AH (September 17, 1993)."

Thanks for updating these pages. But it strikes me that this is unnecessary to add to each of the pages you've added it to. This information simply needs to be provided in the title of the citation/source. Putting it in the actually article is redundant and rather clutters the articles. Also, if you can look at the questions I've left on the article of Subdivisions of Saudi Arabia and see if you could answer them, that would be great. It'd also be worth adding to the charts for the governorates on these various pages which are Category A and which are category B. that could simply be done by adding "(A)" or "(B)" by the name of the governorate. --Criticalthinker (talk) 02:07, 3 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Your thread has been archived edit

Hi AccordingClass! The thread you created at the Wikipedia:Teahouse, Wikipedia Court, has been archived because there was no discussion for a few days (usually at least two days, and sometimes four or more). You can still find the archived discussion here. If you have any additional questions that weren't answered then, please feel free to create a new thread.

The archival was done by Lowercase sigmabot III, and this notification was delivered by Muninnbot, both automated accounts. You can opt out of future notifications by placing {{bots|deny=Muninnbot}} here on your user talk page. Muninnbot (talk) 19:03, 3 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Redirection edit

Hi, the redirect you placed at Tawaf didn't work. For a redirect to work, the redirect syntax needs to be at the very start of the page's code, with any templates placed after it. Furthermore, I'm not sure that {{italic title}} should ever be used on a redirect.... — Smjg (talk) 11:28, 10 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia and copyright edit

Hello AccordingClass, and welcome to Wikipedia. Your additions to Transport in Saudi Arabia have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are PD or compatibly licensed) it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions, the help desk or the Teahouse before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 21:01, 12 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

The article Battle of Badr you nominated as a good article has passed  ; see Talk:Battle of Badr for comments about the article. Well done! If the article has not already appeared on the main page as a "Did you know" item, or as a bold link under "In the News" or in the "On This Day" prose section, you can nominate it within the next seven days to appear in DYK.
