Sorry I'm unavailable to oblige... edit

... but as you might not have noticed the tag on my User page, I'm presently and until further notice a war refugee from the Lebanese border. Aside from my livelihood being harmed and my personal and family life in upheaval, I have only sporadic and brief Internet access. My Wikipedia editing is one of the aspects of regular life that's had to be suspended indefinitely, and I anticipate it'll take me months to recover.

A request such as yours is, unfortunately, entirely beyond my capabilities, and I suggest you seek elsewhere. Good luck with your editing. --Deborahjay 08:30, 3 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Linking to Defender edit

When you want to link to the article about the football position defender, please do not link to Defender, as that is a disambiguation page (which nothing should be linked to). Instead link to the Defender (football) article, by writing out [[Defender (football)|defender]]. Regards, -- Jeff3000 20:42, 4 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Jørn Andersen edit

Hi Lemmy, I noticed that you edited a page on Jørn Andersen I created. Thanks for your help! I'm currently trying to go through a number of the most-wanted football biography articles, and a number of them are (slightly obscure, to me) European footballers for whom I'm finding it difficult to find reliable sources to provide as External links. Can you find any sources for this article?

Incidentally, should you be interested in adding some "MWA's", you can use this link to see which articles people would like to see in WP. All the best! The Rambling Man 18:13, 22 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi,Rambling man!Usually I edit and sometimes create articles of players of Eintracht Frankfurt, the predecessor of Ipswich's cup win ;-).Unfortunately I'm alone in there. My main source is the German wikipedia. The most articles are just simple translations by myself sometimes endorsed with a info box.(I must add that I haven't finished the whole translation of the article) As a source you could take http://www.fussballdaten.de/spieler/andersenjoern/ .Please note that Jørn is often written as Jörn on German pages.Regards -Lemmy- 18:26, 22 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Hubchev.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Hubchev.jpg. The image description page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Hi Lemmy, I put the welcome message on your user talk. I would like to thank you again for your contributions on it.wiki. Hi,Freddy! I directly answered it there. Nice to hear you're interested in German culture. I guess it's much easier for me to read and understand some Italian than for you as German is hard to understand and learn, admittedly. I hope, I didn't discourage you to learn it anyway :-P

Nope,I never change at will ;-) My sources are this and that. These ones are quite well updated and pretty reliable. Hi, I've had a brief look, and the article says "there used to be some players from Afghanistan [but not any more]." I hope that answers your question. :)

Like you said, the names of some players aren't in Hangul. I suspect this is because nobody knows the correct pronunciations. Eckehard Feigenspan edit

Hello Lemmy, I have just done a bit of work on the German football championship 1959 article and found, to my very surprise, that you forgot to create an article on an Eintracht player: Eckehard Feigenspan. Every other of the eleven in the final has an article, most properly created all by you, while the player who scored three goals for Eintracht in the match has not. He is even on Eintracht's famous players list! Well, anyway, just letting you know, you missed one. Have fun, EA210269 (talk) 08:04, 15 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Invite to Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Season article task force edit

As a current or past contributor to season articles within Wikipedia:WikiProject Football, I thought I'd let you know about the season article task force, a collaborative effort to improve Wikipedia's coverage of season articles of all kind. If you would like to participate, join by visiting the task force page. Thanks!

The reason for this invitation is the attempt to establish a season guideline for club season articles. If you look at 2009–10 FC Bayern Munich season, Eintracht Frankfurt season 2009–10 and Hertha BSC season 2009–10, you will see that each of those articles has a different layout and different contents. In general, you could say that for each of these articles, which significantly obstructs the readability when jumping between season articles. In order to achieve a common standard, a discussion has been started at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football/Season article task force#Club season articles. Please voice your opinion! --Soccer-holicI hear voices in my head... 00:32, 29 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Template:Calcio Eintracht on it.wiki edit

Hi Lemmy! There's nothing personal against that eagle, I simply reverted that template because of a decision taken by some users (and I am one of them) who are trying to "simplify" the little flags to improve their graphic appearence. So, it's not a matter of copyrights, we just think that eagle appears not so clear at a 20px widht. We have lately modified a number of template for the same reason, or because the "flags" were judget not appropriate for the shades of the colours, for the complicated drawings there were on them, or simply for the history and the traditions of the club. I hope my english is good enough to make you understand what I mean. Bye! :) Murray. --93.38.209.45 (talk) 20:25, 2 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

I understand why but don't see why a good design is reverted just for simplification reasons but I guess I have to respect it when the Italian community decided to do so. Anyway, thanks for your explanation -Lemmy- (talk) 20:42, 2 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

You are now a Reviewer edit

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

Sonny Kittel edit

Matpib (talk) 14:31, 15 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Kevin Kraus edit

The article Kevin Kraus has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners or ask at Wikipedia:Help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Liverpool F.C. wiki edit

Hello, I am the lead sysop on the Liverpool F.C. wiki. It is a wiki dedicated solely to Liverpool F.C.. We aim to make the ultimate database for the club we all love. Since adopting the incredibly inactive wiki about a month ago we have greatly increased the article count and modernized it from it's previous state. The problem is there are not many active members on the site and we need more for the site to properly grow. It is well organized and on it's way to be a great site we just need more editors to expand. It is based on Wikia's network of wikis. Like Wikipedia it is free to use and the editing process is exactly the same. If you know how to edit Wikipedia you will know how to edit the Liverpool F.C. wiki. Now for the question you may be asking yourself. Why edit there? Wikipedia has articles on Liverpool. This is true. At the Liverpool wiki it is all about Liverpool. We allow editors to edit anything about Liverpool no matter how trivial. We allow edits on reserve and academy players, and even things as trivial as the fitness coaches for the year 2011. We also do not lock pages to registered users. That means if you have something to say about Steven Gerrard you can click edit and not view source and actually write something. I would love for you to come by and check the wiki out. Feel free to edit any page. Every time you click edit your ARE helping this wiki grow. Thanks for taking the time to read this! http://liverpoolfc.wikia.com/wiki/Liverpool_FC_Wiki Coffeeclub213 (talk) 01:49, 14 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Yan Heil edit

The article Yan Heil has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Article about a footballer who fails WP:GNG, and who has not played in a fully pro league, meaning he also fails WP:NSPORT.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. Frankfurt derby edit

Derby time today, for the first time in almost 50 years, at least on league level. I'm surprised you haven't created an article on the Frankfurt derby yet! Calistemon (talk) 11:03, 21 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

You said it: almost 50 years. There's no tension, no rivalry at all. It's a very strange derby because the differences on the pitch, in supporters' and financial figures are higher even than Frankfurt's towers. To make a long story short: it's not really notable. But if I should have too much time.. ;-) By the way: last Monday at our last home match I met a guy who wore a Glory shirt. Small world,eh ? :-) -Lemmy- (talk) 18:41, 21 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
It might become notable again, depending which direction Eintracht and FSV go. Kicker thought it big enough to give it a mention and 50,000 spectators are not bad either for a second division match. That's above Eintracht's last year average (47,365), and that was one level higher. I have to say, I never go to see the Glory, I tend to support teams from Adelaide instead. Sourcing edit

Moin -Lemmy-. Please include references when adding "Honours" to footballer articles. I was unable to find one that verifies that Christoph Preuß won a runner-up medal for the 2005–06 DFB-Pokal. I only found that around that time he was out of action with an injury. Also, going forward, please use the standard layout and formatting as outlined at Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Players. It is the result of past discussions of the community of football editors at Wikipedia:WikiProject Football. Kind regards, Robby.is.on (talk) 21:12, 19 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi, Robby! Thanks for your feedback. The template is really useful in terms of the order. I will use it for my pending edits. Much appreciated. As for Preuß' runner-up honour: I didn't really think about him not being fielded. Given that a league runner-up isn't worth a medal either, I just went for the requirement that the player was being contracted at the time of the achievement. A fair share of Bayern's benchwarmers in past decades filled their trophy cabinets without making too many appearances, right? ;-) -Lemmy- (talk) 18:23, 23 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
You're welcome. :-) Hope you enjoyed the festive season. I just went for the requirement that the player was being contracted at the time of the achievement. Being contracted is not sufficient. I haven't looked at Tom Starke's article, it's not on my watchlist. If it lists honours he isn't eligible for, they need to go.
Again, please do not add unsourced content as you did for Mirko Dickhaut: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Mirko_Dickhaut&diff=1062299259&oldid=1036142917 It will get you blocked sooner or later. Robby.is.on (talk) 01:05, 29 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
Since reverting the addition at Mirko Dickhaut I noticed you added unreferenced honours to dozens of other articles. To be clear: Like most Wikipedia content, honours need to include inline citations for verifiability. See Max Lorenz (footballer) or Helmut Jagielski for example. Robby.is.on (talk) 02:53, 29 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
Sorry but this is not easy to understand why all those articles got reverted. Alright, I could find a source for many of the players' achievements but what about runners-up especially for lower tier achievements like Dickhaut's? Didn't they happen then? And most importantly, what are the criteria to make a player being eligible for a trophy of any kind and for runners-up honours in particular? If a player played 6 rounds in the DFB-Pokal and missed out on the final match didn't he win it, too, for example? What about league trophy requirements? Half the matches played of their contracted time, 60%, 70%? My personal feeling is that even fringe players did celebrate with the regulars and nobody told them that the former ones didn't win the trophy. I reckon we should clarify this topic before we continue. Is there any Wiki rule that exists for this? -Lemmy- (talk) 09:45, 29 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
Alright, I could find a source for many of the players' achievements but what about runners-up especially for lower tier achievements like Dickhaut's? The honours section is not supposed to mention everything a player has ever won but only major honours. I believe there is disagreement at WP:FOOTY over what a "major honour" is exactly. But for Dickhaut, a player who played at the highest level in Germany, a lower-league achievement may not notable. Policy mentioned at WP:DUE is relevant to these considerations. If reliable sources covering Dickhaut don't mention these minor achievements, they're probably not due for inclusion.
And most importantly, what are the criteria to make a player being eligible for a trophy of any kind and for runners-up honours in particular? That is a very good question which frequently comes up at WP:FOOTY. I fear there's no straightforward answer. What I've gathered from countless discussions at WP:FOOTY is that the criteria for getting a medal differ for different trophies. Here are some discussions I just found searching the archives at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football that might give you an idea: from 2021, from 2018, from 2015.
TL;DR: I'd just go with what reliable sources report. For example, if the WAZ says Dickhaut achieved promotion with VfL Bochum ([2]), we include that. Robby.is.on (talk) 16:23, 29 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
I still think that for honours the approach to give citations for every trophy or runner-up medal (there are no runner-up medals in Germany except for the DFB-Pokal) is flawed. Yes, we could try to cite but for pre-WW II and early post-WW II honours and German sports media is not as historically mature as in British football, for instance. For such players the Eintracht stats book "Unsere Eintracht" by Ulrich Matheja that features season reviews and player stats needs to accepted as sufficient as a citation source. As it backed by the club I wouldn't know why it shouldn't. Otherwise I wouldn't know how to proof an honour -Lemmy- (talk) 16:06, 9 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
Sorry for the belated response. I still think that for honours the approach to give citations for every trophy or runner-up medal (there are no runner-up medals in Germany except for the DFB-Pokal) is flawed. I don't know what to say except: we have to, per Wikipedia:Verifiability. ;-)
For such players the Eintracht stats book "Unsere Eintracht" by Ulrich Matheja that features season reviews and player stats needs to accepted as sufficient as a citation source. I think this would probably pass as a reliable source. 👍 Robby.is.on (talk) 01:24, 1 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

2023–24 Eintracht Frankfurt season moved to draftspace edit

An article you recently created, 2023–24 Eintracht Frankfurt season, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more in-depth coverage about the subject itself, with citations from reliable, independent sources in order to show it meets WP:GNG. It should have at least three, to be safe. And please remember that interviews, as primary sources, do not count towards GNG.(?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.Onel5969 TT me 12:40, 29 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
