DYK for Vanderbilt Triple Palace

On 21 October 2021, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Vanderbilt Triple Palace, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that William Henry Vanderbilt spent US$2 million on the lavishly designed Triple Palace, but his son found the decor unfashionable? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Vanderbilt Triple Palace. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Vanderbilt Triple Palace), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Invitation to take part in a survey about medical topics on Wikipedia

Dear fellow editor,

I am Piotr Konieczny, a sociologist of new media at Hanyang University (and User:Piotrus on Wikipedia). I would like to better understand Wikipedia's volunteers who edit medical topics, many associated with the WikiProject Medicine, and known to create some of the highest quality content on Wikipedia. I hope that the lessons I can learn from you that I will present to the academic audience will benefit both the WikiProject Medicine (improving your understanding of yourself and helping to promote it and attract new volunteers) and the wider world of medical volunteering and academia. Open access copy of the resulting research will be made available at WikiProject's Medicine upon the completion of the project.

All questions are optional. The survey is divided into 4 parts: 1 - Brief description of yourself; 2 - Questions about your volunteering; 3 - Questions about WikiProject Medicine and 4 - Questions about Wikipedia's coverage of medical topics.

Please note that by filling out this questionnaire, you consent to participate in this research. The survey is anonymous and all personal details relevant to your experience will be kept private and will not be transferred to any third party.

I appreciate your support of this research and thank you in advance for taking the time to participate and share your experiences! If you have any questions at all, please feel free to contact me at my Wikipedia user page or through my email listed on the survey page (or by Wikipedia email this user function).

The survey is accessible through the LINK HERE.

Portal

Sorry to see that the Briarcliff Manor, New York portal was deleted. For what it's worth, I tried to modernize the portal and I expanded it, but you reverted all of my work. Then at MfD, comments occurred such as, "no maintenance", "the "maintainer" has not made any changes to this portal other than reverting others' edits in over a year" and "I'm not really seeing the reason for this portal's continued existence". Now it's gone. Perhaps in the future, please consider allowing other users to make improvements that would at least theoretically prevent deletion, and more importantly, expand the content that a page presents to encourage readership. Sorry, and this isn't meant to be a sort of "I told you so" message, but I remember performing the work, you reverted all of it, and now the portal is deleted in entirety. Regarding Linden Reversion

Hi Ɱ, I am curious about the reversion of my edit you made to the Development section of the Linden, OH article. In your edit you stated that the date I added to the beginning of the section was unclear, however the cited source is marked as published on 21.05.2018. You also state that you wish to make it clear that the policy described is still in effect, to which I agree. The reason I made the edit was because when first reading the article, I had to refer to the source to find when the policy went into effect - and I wanted to present that information forthright to other readers instead of forcing them to the sources to find the date of publication. I would propose that we could include the year of publication and supplement that with the fact that the legislation is still in effect in 2022. Thanks for your many contributions to the article! Hakudama (talk) 23:55, 31 March 2022 (UTC)

The map was published in 2018, nothing else. The CRA was created in 2002, I just found. Will add. ɱ (talk) 15:34, 1 April 2022 (UTC)

GCT image

Just very curious why you would want to show an empty GCT which the page describes as being the second-busiest in North America. The whole purpose of a commuter terminal is to move people, not to be bare and empty. Doesn’t make any sense. Castncoot (talk) 17:10, 17 June 2022 (UTC)

Hello Castncoot. I worked with Epicgenius and a few others to overhaul this article and its subpages. Immense, year-long process involving going there numerous times, scouring hundreds of books and documents. It's a Good Article, and FA-worthy. We chose the lead images to represent the station's architecture best. Photos with crowds show people, but obscure the grand Main Concourse. We do realize that oftentimes the concourse is crowded, and iconic in that way. That is why both the GCT article and Main Concourse article show an image of the crowded concourse very prominently, as the second or third image/image grouping in each article. ɱ (talk) 17:25, 17 June 2022 (UTC)
I can also note that, as a prominent Wikimedia photographer, the goal is usually to capture the building and its architecture, or the surrounding landscape best. Even though Central Park is usually swarmed with activity, the photos need to actually show the park. ɱ (talk) 17:25, 17 June 2022 (UTC)
OK. When you’ve put that much work into an article, you know what you’re talking about. Castncoot (talk) 17:33, 17 June 2022 (UTC)
