Image shift

The change was made incorrectly. Please see examples such as Talk:Jon Miller and Talk:Lloyd Pettit. I believe the problem is that there is a line break before nested-talk given the existence of the nested parameter; you may have copied one of SatyrTN's longer lines as two lines accidentally.

• We had a discussion in WikiProject Ice Hockey that the picture of an ice hockey rink was more recognizable then pucks or a skate. This image should not have been changed without further discussion. Flibirigit 18:34, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

I didn't know about the discusion... Maybe I was simply not part of the project. My reasons for changing it is that I thought the rink was rather vague, and I actually didn't know exactly what is was until I cliked on the image. Featured List

I would say yes to FL = Featured list. I would also suggest FT = Featured topic and perhaps DYK = Did you know if some content was featured. Flibirigit (talk) 19:08, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

I'm not sure about the others, but FL = Featured list is certainly on the {{Grading scheme}} template. I've created a Category:FL-Class Ice Hockey articles and was going to edit the {{Ice hockey}} template, but this can only be done by an admin. Error displaying the Show/Hide section

Would it be possible to either change the name of the category to Category:Wikipedia requested photographs of ice hockey so that the template {{reqphoto}} can be used as an alternative but place the request in the same category and/or could the options in= and imagedetails= be added to this template. (See {{Engineering}} as example). There are a number of ice hockey requests for images/photos in other categories that could then be added to the subject specific one that has been created here.Traveler100 (talk) 09:00, 18 January 2009 (UTC)

I suppose we could. I tend to strip out the reqphoto tag whenever I see it and fill out the parameters in the other project tags on the page because I often think the req photo is just a redundant tag. But thats just personal opinion. I don't really see how the engineering template would be similar. And technically the category name you have above implies the pictures are of ice hockey as opposed to being pictures needed in ice hockey articles. Moving from the many photo and image tags to the project template is my basic thinking too. Just do not want to loose some of the information in the requests such as location or exact subject matter. I am going to update the code on here to accept a bio= param so that the template will automatically put people into the ice hockey people subcat instead of just the main ice hockey cat that I just created. Norway Ice Hockey task force

Hi, could anyone with permission to edit this template add the necessary codes, so that the articles I have assessed to "Norway Ice Hockey task force" will show up in this category? I have mostly copied pages from the Swedish task force, so I guess those codes can be used in this template as well, just replace all instances of "Sweden" with "Norway"... =)

I also copy-pasted this bot user page from the Swedish one, which I afterwards realized are being updated by the bot itself! Do I need to have it deleted, or will it start overwriting the information once this template includes the new parameters?

If there is anything more I have to do, don't hesitate contacting me! =)

You might want to ask on WP:HOCKEY if they want to actually make another task force. Usually we don't create a task force unless we have 5 users that are actively going to edit in it. We do this becaue we often have single editors all gung ho about creating one and it almost instantly becomes inactive. I would actually prefer that we don't move it. I find that when you add in WikiProject to these tags it makes them unwieldy and less people then actually seem to put the tag on articles. An example of this would be the Wikiproject Biography tag. I would think if the tag were just Biography it would get used alot more. The reason is so that bots can recognize which templates on the page are banners and which are not. "Ice hockey" provides no clue whatsoever, not even a "WP" or "project" thrown in there for good measure. I suppose if it was a clever bot, with a cleverer operator. That's not always the case. Having to load that list is also a drain on resources. The vast majority of banners take the standard form so consistency is also a factor to consider. –xeno^talk 14:27, 26 May 2010 (UTC)

There are a number of reasons: some bots may be adding banner shells; other bots may be making sure that all project banners are together; and important banners (such as WPBiography with living=yes, talkheader, skiptotoc) are at the top. –xeno^talk 14:22, 26 May 2010 (UTC)

Interesting. Have bots not been applying banner shells for some time already? I've yet to see an issue with folding this template into such a shell. That said, it makes no practical difference and if it makes your bot's job easier, I'd say go for it. Resolute 15:25, 26 May 2010 (UTC)

For my bot, it is really only an issue if there is no "class=" in the template (such as with many of these) as it is designed to look for that. Not sure about other bots. I still think for consistency, {{WikiProject Ice hockey}} is desirable. Comment- having tried to co-ordinate a cross-project task, of generating lists of unreferenced BLPs, and being told by the Bot coder that I needed to use the actual template name, not a redirect, the WikiProject template naming system is a mess. Look at the range of names that are in use. Have you checked with the ice hockey project first to make sure you have enough active editors interested in creating a new task force? Generally we don't add a new one until we see that there are a number of active people interested in it and actively working on articles in that task forces scope, in general 5 people is usually mentioned. Most of our task forces get created and then fall inactive fast so we haven't been adding new task forces lately, most discussion takes place on the ice hockey project directly, instead of breaking off into task forces. -DJSasso (talk) 14:34, 19 December 2010 (UTC)

Photo image needs to be replaced

File:Camera bw.png, a file uploaded at Commons, has been deleted as a copyright violation; this means that the image shown in the "needs-photo" parameter is a red link with the number of pixels. In other words, this means that the image needs to be replaced by another. I think that File:Camera-photo.svg would work well as a replacement. Any thoughts? Change photo requests to image requests

As part of a nearly-completed shift to distinguish requests for photos from requests for images in general, it is requested that this template be modified to place talk pages in "Wikipedia requested images of..." categories, rather than the old "Wikipedia requested photographs of..." categories. As such, please supplement all references to "photo(s) of..." and "photograph(s) of..." with "image(s) of..." in both the template and its documentation, while maintaining backwards compatibility for the old "photo" parameters. In particular, change "photograph or picture" to simply "image". Note that the "Wikipedia requested images of..." categories have already been created. That's not a terrible idea, and I won't get in the way of you changing other mock-ups (and non-protected templates) accordingly, but I probably won't be doing much of that work myself. I've put a tremendous effort into this transition already, and real-world responsibilities are calling. Anyway, if it's not done now, it can always be done later. @Pppery: Many task forces are tagged onto multiple Wikiproject banners, such as the US Film task force, or the US Military task force, the Russian military task force, the Japanese film task force. The parent category is Category:Women's ice hockey task force articles. Using the TF_9_ASSESSMENT_CAT = parameter sorts all of the bannered talkpages correctly within that cat's subcats. UnitedStatesian (talk) 18:06, 3 November 2021 (UTC)

It's no workaround; the |TF_9_ASSESSMENT_CAT= parameter only drives the naming of the base level assessment categories, such as Category:Start-Class Women's ice hockey articles; the |TF_9_MAIN_CAT parameter is what drives the naming of the top level category. The WP Banner meta template was coded intentionally to use two different parameters, so WikiProjects need not slavishly follow the same naming conventions for each. (and in fact the titles of nearly all top-level project categories reference the WikiProject (such as Category:WikiProject Romania articles, not Category:Romania articles) or task force (such as the current case)). The |TF_9_ASSESSMENT_CAT= parameter isn't a category name. It's used by the subtemplates of {{WPBannerMeta}} - ultimately {{WPBannerMeta/qualityscale}} - to construct categories named like Category:FA-Class assessment-cat, Category:Unassessed assessment-cat etc., where assessment-cat is the value passed in through |TF_9_ASSESSMENT_CAT=. So if we have |TF_9_ASSESSMENT_CAT=Ice Hockey articles we would get Category:FA-Class Ice Hockey articles, Category:Unassessed Ice Hockey articles etc. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 09:36, 4 November 2021 (UTC)
