After moving from Preston Hall, Betts was forced into bankruptcy when the full extent of his involvement with the illegal financial arrangements for the London Chatham and Dover Railway became known. Neither his personal reputation, nor his reputation for financial propriety ever fully recovered.
Many of the benefits he had undoubtedly brought to Aylesford village and the surrounding area were later attributed to his successors, the Brassey family.

So, I've started by removing the subheadings - some of which were very short. Some may go back in later I imagine. I've also added some references where the links actually might work - some of the others might be usable. Some of the puffery has already come out; more needs to.
