Final name of "General Tomfoolery"/"Other Pranks" section edit

For the final title of the miscelaneous joke section, I propose making it the last title of April Fools Day. If the title would bring disrepute on Wikipedia (i.e.e its racist), then I reccomend moving back until an approrpiate title is found. Spirit of Eagle (talk) 00:48, 1 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Although I am an auto extended confirmed user. I am making an edit request due to the following reasons

  1. The high amount of vandalism could result in my edit accidentally being reverted

Please take seriously

The bulleted list of joke AfDs (link) currently seems to be using the format of something like:

The 'is' is also sometimes a 'was'. (?) I think that the correct word there should be has been, as it represents something ongoing which has started in the past. (Right?) We have made it pretty clear we will stop at 12:00 am April 2nd and we're just joking around with an edit war (Since it's April Fools and it seems to fit the guidelines). What's with the big deal now? Why are you trying to put a stop now instead of 5 hours ago? And how does this not fit the guidelines. We're just trying to have fun for just one day. OcelotCreeper (talk) 17:46, 1 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Yea why can't we have some fun while we are couped up at home?JustAnotherWikiUser0816 (talk) 17:57, 1 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Also, there are current boundaries I have, like the lyrics for thr rick astley song, since that is a copyright violation, and blanking of all of the other content. OcelotCreeper (talk) 18:00, 1 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Koridas Still why stop us this late in the day? JustAnotherWikiUser0816 (talk) 18:09, 1 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

JustAnotherWikiUser0816, I may be in a different time zone then you. it's only 10:00 where I am.

Koridas There is a long-standing consensus that April Fools' Day jokes are allowed and a proposal to ban the Great Edit War this yearfailed to gain consensus. I am going to respectfully request that you either allow April Fools to continue or that the admins take a formal action that adequately accounts for why this is such an emergency that WP:consensus has to be overruled. (Also, this is rather plainly not a real edit war but a community exercise in silliness.) Spirit of Eagle (talk) 18:20, 1 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Koridas:@Moonythedwarf: Exactly. It could be the smallest 1000 edits are actually in a way harmful, and it could be that the edits one does are small, while others with less edits have more power technically because theirs are big edits. Not saying anything about your edit size, just that saying edits = experience makes you sound like the world revolves around you. OcelotCreeper (talk) 18:43, 1 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

An apology for my behavior edit

The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

Guys, I am sorry for attacking some of you. I wasn't thinking correctly at the time and I've realized the huge mistake I made. I should of listened to what you guys were telling me. Although I may be banned soon, I hope this message will get to the people that I have shown overwhelming disrespect to, such as Moonythedwarf, JustAnotherWikiUser0816, OcelotCreeper, and Spirit of Eagle.

I've even felt more ashamed after reading Wikipedia:No personal attacks, Wikipedia:POINT, and Wikipedia:CONSENSUS. This finally made me realize that I was being hateful to the rules and guidelines.

Of course, I was just being stupid and making a fool of myself. I'm embarrassed of my behavior and I am aware the consequences that may happen to me. I was actually under a lot of stress earlier from two things currently happening in my life and a few things that just happened. I'm been very stressed out recently. It hasn't just happened on Wikipedia either, I've gone insane in real life too.

Sincerely, Koridas (Speak) 03:58, 2 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Koridas, Thanks for the apology. All is forgiven. I'm not one to hold grudges as long as someone learned in the end :) Have you seen the WP:DISCORD? April Fools was being discussed there. I understand the stress issue especially. Things are nasty lately. —moonythedwarf (Braden N.) 04:55, 2 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
Koridas I'm seconding Braden N. here. I appreciate the apology and don't hold this against you in the slightest. Every editor has done something boneheaded during their time on Wikipedia, but not every editor has the maturity and self-reflection to recognize and apologize for it. I hope to see you around Wikipedia in the future. Spirit of Eagle (talk) 05:34, 3 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Koridas: Thank you. Also seconding Braden, I understand. It's hard to not get caught up in the chaos, which may lead to one forgetting that policies exist. Just make sure to follow them in the future and everything will be fine. :) InvalidOStalk 12:37, 3 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Special CSD criteria for bad April Fools' humor (or humor in general) edit

The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

I think that some bad humor may have to be deleted through CSD, but for some of them the criteria is quite ambiguous. Using G6 as "low-participation joke AfD" every time is not the best solution. On the other hand, bad humor may not be so bad to need G3/G10 deletion. I hereby propose a new criterion for speedy deletion:

G15. Unappreciated Humor

This applies to humor that is, in general, not appreciated by other users. This also includes not-so-serious vandalism that would not be eligible under G3 or G10. This includes:

  • Low participation joke AfDs in April Fools' Day;
  • Parodies that may be insulting/distressing to certain editors (e.g. COVID-19 jokes);
  • Inappropriate humor in a serious venue outside of April Fools' (including redirects created after a move to Wikipedia:Silly Things), like AfDs and RfAs

I would appreciate any feedback. Cheeds, TLOM (The Lord of Math) (Message) 06:56, 2 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

  • Strong oppose. See WP:NEWCSD - criteria need to be objective, uncontestable, frequent and non-redundant. This proposal spectacularly fails the first two (literally every point is subjective) and completely fails the third if restricted to April Fools. There is also no evidence presented that there are any attempts at humour that should be speedily deleted that cannot be deleted under an existing criterion, particularly G1, G3 and/or G10 meaning it almost certainly fails the fourth requirement as well. Thryduulf (talk) 19:07, 3 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • Comment if this proposal is not withdrawn or speedily closed it should probably be moved to WT:CSD which is the correct place to discuss speedy deletion criteria. Thryduulf (talk) 19:11, 3 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • Support. We are not Uncyclopedia, and we don't need unfunny humor. Catgirllover4ever (talk) 19:14, 3 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • Comment: As stated above, this might not be neccessary. Instead, G6 exist because it's for uncontroverisal maintanence, so, if uncontroversial, then use G6. {{replyto}} Can I Log In's (talk) page 19:39, 3 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • Can I Log In's - Technically G6 only works with some admins, Not all admins will delete it per that, G3 worked better with me but that was only because it was the same admin, G6 or G3 tend to be your best friends. –Davey2010Talk 20:30, 3 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose. G3 and G6 already cover the vast majority of probable cases, and the abundance of eligible pages would be much lower the other 364 days of the year. Not enough demand to justify a new CSD just for this, and once again, what one admin considers "unfunny" could make another admin's day, so deletions under this criterion can't be objective. ComplexRational (talk) 20:04, 3 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose - Mainly because there looks to be an XFD ban but ComplexRational is correct G3 or G6 will work (both depends on the admin tho). –Davey2010Talk 20:32, 3 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose per all. If the RfC to ban all joke XfDs passes G3 can take care of those; otherwise this is pointless and would probably be fraught with disputes. – John M Wolfson (talkcontribs) 21:19, 3 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose In addition to the previous concerns, I am worried that some editors will try applying these to old and safely archived April Fools' jokes. Given how subjective and prone to dispute the criteria are, I am worried that it will needlessly dredge up controversy. Spirit of Eagle (talk) 03:16, 4 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • Comment from nom I intended for this criterion to be used for terrible, disruptive jokes. In a nutshell, none of the jokes currently extant in the AFD log is eligible. There is pretty much consensus that BLP AFDs are leaning towards disruptive, as are political AFDs. Many of these aren't exactly good per G6 and most aren't in such bad faith to need G3. Thanks, TLOM (The Lord of Math) (Message) 05:50, 4 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
    • Whether a joke is "terrible" or not is subjective, and none of the other aspects you've mentioned are present in the criteria as proposed. CSD criteria must be very clear on what is and what is not covered. Thryduulf (talk) 10:01, 4 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose, this isn't what CSD is for. >>BEANS X2t 09:23, 4 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • Comment - "unnapreciated" is particularly subjective; thus, it is innapropriate for a deletion criterion. — Godsy (TALKCONT) 11:50, 4 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • Withdrawing suggestion. Thanks for all your feedback. Cheers, TLOM (The Lord of Math) (Message) 13:20, 4 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

What should the final section header be? edit

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was let the winner, PorkchopGMX, decide what the header should be.

Ok so last year we decided on “The section that everyone kept edit warring over” foolery or something like that. This year we should decide on something else. I won the GAFDEW II!! (PorkchopGMX) (t - c) 00:28, 2 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Narrow it down edit

Ok I think that these could be the most logical choices:

  • The winner “listen to living colour!==“
  • Normal stuff, like General Tomfoolery and Other things and alternatives of those
  • Any of User:TuxStrikesBack’s proposals
  • Being honest and saying “Acts of Vandalism”
  • Use Module:Random to randomly choose a title from the edit war.
    • Alternatively, choose the best title from each time period and Module:Random them.

Obviously you can suggest something else, but I do not want this discussion to drag on for too long. Please say which one you want and also you can propose different titles. I won the GAFDEW II!! (PorkchopGMX) (t - c) 06:02, 2 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
