Orphaned non-free image File:Evergreen Marine logo.jpeg

Thanks for uploading File:Evergreen Marine logo.jpeg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 18:32, 29 January 2016 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Amazon.com, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page UPS. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Please provide edit summaries

Hi there! Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. Thanks! 32.218.33.112 (talk) 22:54, 1 February 2016 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Top Engineering Colleges in the United States

Hello Kcida10,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Top Engineering Colleges in the United States for deletion, because it seems to be promotional, rather than an encyclopedia article.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Rollingcontributor (talk) 17:57, 10 February 2016 (UTC)

Yeah that's not an encyclopedia article whatsoever. Especially judging by the mountain of content that youve forced everyone else to delete, as mentioned on this talk page, you need to read in detail about what Wikipedia is (WP:RS WP:V WP:N) and is WP:NOT. And please just stop making indiscriminate content. You clearly have a lot of interest and some valuable skills, if you could just stop wasting your time and everybody else's with the rest. People will be glad to explain on the relevant pages of wikiprojects and the teahouse. Thanks.72.202.147.87 (talk) 18:22, 10 February 2016 (UTC)

License tagging for File:NeXTcube.jpeg

Thanks for uploading File:NeXTcube.jpeg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 06:07, 15 February 2016 (UTC)

Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Perpetual motion. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been or will be reverted or removed.

  • If you are engaged in an article content dispute with another editor then please discuss the matter with the editor at their talk page, or the article's talk page. Alternatively you can read Wikipedia's dispute resolution page, and ask for independent help at one of the relevant notice boards.
  • If you are engaged in any other form of dispute that is not covered on the dispute resolution page, please seek assistance at Wikipedia's Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents.

Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive, until the dispute is resolved through consensus. Continuing to edit disruptively could result in loss of editing privileges. Thank you. DMacks (talk) 20:33, 21 February 2016 (UTC)

Draft:Tech Titan concern

Hi there, I'm HasteurBot. I just wanted to let you know that Draft:Tech Titan, a page you created, has not been edited in 5 months. The Articles for Creation space is not an indefinite storage location for content that is not appropriate for articlespace.

If your submission is not edited soon, it could be nominated for deletion. If you would like to attempt to save it, you will need to improve it.

You may request Userfication of the content if it meets requirements.

If the deletion has already occured, instructions on how you may be able to retrieve it are available at WP:REFUND/G13.

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Union Pacific freight train.jpeg

A tag has been placed on File:Union Pacific freight train.jpeg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only," "non-derivative use" or "used with permission," it has not been shown to comply with the limited standards for the use of non-free content. [1], and it was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19, or is not used in any articles. If you agree with the deletion, there is no need to do anything. If, however, you believe that this image may be retained on Wikipedia under one of the permitted conditions then:

  • state clearly the source of the image. If it has been copied from elsewhere on the web you should provide links to: the image itself, the page which uses it and the page which contains the license conditions.
  • add the relevant copyright tag.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Magog the Ogre (tc) 05:03, 6 March 2016 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:ESnet Map.png

Thanks for uploading File:ESnet Map.png, which you've attributed to ESnet is not the federal government. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. DMacks (talk) 19:48, 18 March 2016 (UTC)

Your draft article, Draft:Tech Titan

Hello, Kcida10. It has been over six months since you last edited your Articles for Creation draft article submission, "Tech Titan".

In accordance with our policy that Articles for Creation is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Speedy deletion nomination of Domestic intermodal container shippers list

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Domestic intermodal container shippers list, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

File source problem with File:Electricity price map of the United States 2013.jpeg

Thank you for uploading File:Electricity price map of the United States 2013.jpeg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Deletion discussion about Industrial laboratory

Hello, Wikideas1,

I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether Industrial laboratory should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Industrial laboratory .

If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

Hello, a suggestion. Most of your articles seem to be on NRHP-listed buildings. Hello, this is Drdpw, your recent edit to Template:Timeline US Presidents has been reverted, as the information you added was beyond the scope of that template. Last month (November 6), when you brought up the idea of adding a timetable of presidents and the wars they were in to this template, I replied, that such a graph "would most appropriately be a whole separate graphical timeline." This is still the case. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. The concept is worth pursuing, but separately from the US Presidents template. Cheers. Your contributed article, Largest container leasing companies

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Largest container leasing companies. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – List of container shipping companies by ship fleets and containers. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. Hello, Wikideas1. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Black River Beach Neighborhood Center, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

Remember that when adding content about health, please only use high-quality reliable sources as references. We typically use review articles, major textbooks and position statements of national or international organizations (There are several kinds of sources that discuss health: here is how the community classifies them and uses them). WP:MEDHOW walks you through editing step by step. A list of resources to help edit health content can be found here. The edit box has a built-in citation tool to easily format references based on the PMID or ISBN. You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Microsoft. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware that Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Codename Lisa (talk) 05:33, 16 January 2017 (UTC)

You are awful for Wikipedia. Wikideas1 (talk) 05:35, 16 January 2017 (UTC)
I just became aware of the ongoing edit war and fully concur with Codename Lisa's position on this issue. In fact, I'll have to also pull out your edits to Oracle, Google, and Apple as well. It's quite clear that your edits are violating WP:NOT as well as WP:NPOV and the Wikipedia Manual of Style.
There are several key problems with your edits. The first is that the fact that so-and-so company has open-source projects is not notable in and of itself as to warrant a separate section because so many software companies have open source projects nowadays. When even Microsoft is drinking the open-source Kool-Aid, open source just isn't the big deal that it used to be.
It's as if you added a statement to the Wikipedia article on a celebrity that they go to the bathroom or pick their nose every morning. That's probably easily verifiable for many celebrities who have described their morning habits in interviews, but that would be ridiculous to include that in their articles. Verifiability is merely a necessary but not sufficient criterion for inclusion of a fact in Wikipedia.
Second, insofar as many of the projects listed are notable, the correct way to attack the problem is by expanding the prose descriptions of those companies' histories. For example, one could write that in X year, the company first dipped its toe into the open-source world by releasing project A. Then a few paragraphs down, one would add, in Y year, the company renewed its commitment to open source by releasing project B. And so on. --Coolcaesar (talk) 23:35, 16 January 2017 (UTC)

File source problem with File:OPEC oil exports.png

Thank you for uploading File:OPEC oil exports.png.

You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Replaceable fair use File:Angela Ahrendts.png

Thanks for uploading File:Angela Ahrendts.png. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Aspects (talk) 00:13, 9 February 2017 (UTC)

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Capital gains tax in the United States into another page. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. The attribution has been provided for this situation, but if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for that duplication. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. /wiae /tlk 00:43, 18 February 2017 (UTC)

Your pie chart on List of countries by population (United Nations)

I have some concerns about the pie chart you've added:

  1. Accessibility is a serious matter: the WMF's non-discrimination policy specifically prohibits "discrimination against current or prospective users... on the basis of... disability." Here's what your pie chart looks like to people with red–green colour blindness. I understand you're trying to use a colour scheme based on flag colours but even if you insist on doing that, don't put reds and greens next to each other.
  1. The labels for the smaller wedges are cluttered and confusing (plus "Congo" is ambiguous) and frankly those wedges add no useful information beyond what the reader can see in the table. I'd suggest showing only the countries up to Japan.
  1. The current title is too vague: something like "Countries by proportion of world population" would be better. Indicate not only the year of the data but the actual source, e.g. "2017 UN projections". Indicate in the file description exactly where you got the data from (e.g. link to a spreadsheet from a reliable source) when you upload the chart onto Commons. Note that the actual data in the table is for 2015 and 2016, but the references listed at the bottom also contain the 2017 projections. I expect the UN to issue revised projections for 2017 sometime in the next few months and will update the table when that happens.

I have removed the current chart in the expectation you will address these concerns. Cobblet (talk) 19:21, 24 March 2017 (UTC)

Unspecified source/license for File:Valley view mall.jpeg

Thanks for uploading File:Valley view mall.jpeg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

The article Largest domestic 53 foot container companies (fleet size) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-encycloepadic article.Fails WP:GNG.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Indiscriminate inclusion of images for charts and graphs

If one is going to include copious amounts of unnecessary images to represent charts and graphs, at a bare minimum, please at least adhere to the MOS:IMAGES and MOS:LAYOUT. Additionally, one should stop making them frameless(!), include at least a semi-descriptive caption (in the lower frame...), and preferably include alt-text (WP:ALT) so visually-impaired individuals (or those of us without graphical displays) may also have access to the same information as sighted readers.

The MediaWiki software includes facilities to generate these charts as HTML/CSS; see: WP:GRAPHS. Image-based (JPEG, PNG, etc.) representation are not only unneeded given the aforementioned graphing feature, but counter to our accessibility policies and guidelines. Thank you for your contributions; Namaste. -- dsprc [talk] 03:47, 20 August 2017 (UTC)

The article Federal income tax rates of the United States by year has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Wikipedia is not a collection of statistics.

– Joe (talk) 15:22, 8 January 2018 (UTC)

Amazon HQ2 map

Your map is missing Philadelphia, which made the cutoff. Please consider re-doing the dot for Toronto, since it's a good 50 miles off. SounderBruce 07:51, 12 February 2018 (UTC)

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:SketchUp 3D Warehouse screen shot.png

Thank you for uploading File:SketchUp 3D Warehouse screen shot.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.

This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:00, 1 November 2018 (UTC)

Ways to improve Ship of Fools (book)

Thanks for creating Ship of Fools (book).

A New Page Patroller SkyGazer 512 just tagged the page as having some issues to fix, and wrote this note for you:

The book certainly seems interesting, but the only source currently is the publisher's website. If possible, please provide multiple reliable, independent sources in the article so that the information can be verified by sources unaffiliated with the book itself and ensure that it meets our notability guidelines.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can reply over here and ping me. Or, for broader editing help, you can talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.

Delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.

SkyGazer 512 Oh no, what did I do this time? 15:30, 6 November 2018 (UTC)
