Just a reminder edit

If the Packers lose today, please make a petition to fire Dom Capers because he is a useless coordinator. Yeah our defense is looking good this year but not ranked in the top 10. I know we're in the playoffs but if we lose knight start a petition to fire Capers. Thanks! --166.172.56.176 (talk) 22:47, 3 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Packers edit

Do you think they can beat the Vikings tommorow night? I hope it is NOT a pathetic game. Will they go past Seattle in the playoffs? --74.129.169.119 (talk) 01:30, 3 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
I certainly think they can beat Minnesota, and it should be a fun one. We'll see about the playoffs, I think they should be able to handle Seattle if the receivers remember that they're allowed to catch the ball if it hits them in their fucking hand... seems simple, but that seems to have been a problem this year. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 02:39, 3 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
Man fuck the Packers receivers other than Cobb. And fuck Dom Capers and Dropvante Adams they are fucking useless. --74.129.169.119 (talk) 02:48, 3 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
I have to say, I knew Jordy was exceptional but I didn't realize just how many holes he covered up. Looking forward to having him back next year. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 02:50, 3 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
if the packers lose, start a petition to fire defensive coordinator Dom Capers. His schemes are horrible and he is so predictable. Next year will be better without Capers he sucks as a coordinator. Jordy will help next year. --74.129.169.119 (talk) 02:52, 3 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
Jordy Nelson is awesome! Start a petition tommorow to fire Capers if they lose. --74.129.169.119 (talk) 02:55, 3 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
I'm with you on both, and I might take you up on that petition if you don't first. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 02:57, 3 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
I am not going to make one if they lose so you should do it instead. I do not make petitions so please make the petition to get Capers the fuck out of Green Bay.n--74.129.169.119 (talk) 03:05, 3 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

@EEng: When reading the edit summary, given the recent bit of PC idiocy that happened about half an hour up I-95 for me I can't help but wonder if they'd start demanding they change their name because "World's Oldest People as an acronym is CAUSING ME GRIEVOUS BODILY HARM BECAUSE IT'S SO OFFENSIVE AND IF YOU DON'T CHANGE IT RIGHT NOW I'M GOING TO DEMAND JIMBO'S RESIGNATION AND HAVE A LITTLE HISSY FIT A 4 YEAR OLD WOULD BE EMBARRASSED AT AND THROW ROCKS AT YOUR HOUSE!!!!!!!!" (But then again Italians are white, so they can't be in any way oppressed; what happened to Sacco and Vanzetti was definitely different, we're not sure how but it just was so stop it RIGHT NOW before you cause me that grievous bodily harm again) But in all seriousness, I've been thinking of trying a rename proposal to "Wikiproject Human Longevity"; if you have a better idea, which I'm sure you do, I'd like to hear it. A name change might send the message that this isn't the GRG's official output, and if even one person gets that it's worth it. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 22:46, 13 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
First of all, get your own jokes [7]. As to Yale, I can't be expected to follow the news at every struggling, little-known rustic school, so maybe you can fill me in. Now, then... Yes, I think a name change would be salutory for any number of reasons. EEng (talk) 23:34, 13 November 2015 (UTC) P.S. Sacco and Vanzetti did it.Reply
Wow, and here I was thinking I was being original; maybe great minds do think alike. As to Sacco and Vanzetti, I'm not of Italian stock or anything but we went over that case in one of my history classes; it's not too much to ask that anyone get a reasonable trial, period. I'll try to put a proposal together then. It could require a bit of coordination with the other sane people there, so there will be some advance warning. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 23:46, 13 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
They were railroaded, no doubt, but they were also probably guilty. EEng (talk) 00:09, 14 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, the part about Sacco's gun conveniently didn't come up in class at all, I had to find that on my own. I'm hardly losing sleep over them. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 00:12, 14 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

Another thought might be to merge it into another project, so it's not an isolate anymore. But the most obvious candidate, Wikipedia:WikiProject Ageing and culture, is so small I'm afraid it would simply be overrun. Another thought would be simply dismantling it, as someone suggested at ANI a while back, but the window for that may have passed for now. EEng (talk) 20:15, 14 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

Maybe an RfC about what to do might help, if there's a way to keep the lackeys from overrunning it. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 21:59, 15 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

Tobias redux edit

Domlesch (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) is a heavy contribution sock that needs some attention. I've cleaned up after the other named accounts and IPs, but this one is a bit of heavy lifting. Can you take a look at some of it please? With the two new page move trackers, he has now taken to requesting moves at uncontroversial moves so that it doesn't show up on his logs. Also 80.134.93.78 (talk · contribs · WHOIS) among others in that range. Another range has been blocked by Bbb23. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 15:03, 5 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Mass deletion edit

Hello The Blade of the Northern Lights! Can you tell me, why have been so many articles about East Timorese subdistricts deleted? Greetings, --J. Patrick Fischer (talk) 20:26, 5 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

See the above section, this is to delete creations of Tobias Conradi, a WP:G5 deletion. —SpacemanSpiff 20:34, 5 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
Strange. The articles were a first start for these subject, missing in English Wikipedia for years. --J. Patrick Fischer (talk) 21:04, 5 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
I ordinarily wouldn't do this, but Tobias is now globally banned and nothing short of that will get the message across. If you'd like, I can send you copies of the sources he used; the articles themselves were very bare, so there's not much to be gained from restoring them. And to SpacemanSpiff; something's not working right with my mass rollback or I'd have done that already, and I'll see if I can hunt down any other pages he requested for restoring. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 00:44, 6 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
Update; just got the mass rollback issue fixed. Now to find those pages. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 00:58, 6 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
In addition to the standard banned thing, there's also the fact that he loves to "provide" a structure to these places based on how he thinks they should be, not how they actually are and it's futile to waste editor hours to sift through individual articles to clean up that mess. And of course, this disruption is on at multiple wiki's, representatives of which are currently voicing their opinions at Meta. I see you've fixed this one now Blade. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 02:20, 6 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Yes, I have seen some strange edits by this user. I was just wondering, because I didn't see in German Wikipedia articles deleted, because the author was banned before. Well, the articles were just stubs, maybe someone will find time to re-activate them one day. If this is the case, he/she can translate simply the German articles or use the sources there. I have enough to do in deWP. ;-) Greetings, --J. Patrick Fischer (talk) 05:39, 6 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Zala County edit

Hi. What is the reason for this and similar edits? I'm having trouble understanding how this is helpful to readers. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 10:22, 7 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

See the section directly above; I was doing a mass rollback of a globally banned and extremely disruptive user. I have no objection to someone reinstating the edits if they want, but the messes Tobias Conradi creates are so massive that it's not really worth the amount of effort required to do anything besides a mass revert. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 15:12, 7 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Need help from a user that is harassing me? edit

Is this the right place Alexis Ivanov (talk) 20:56, 22 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Not gonna lie, I made some enemies, but all my previous conflicts were resolved as soon as possible and something weird happen, I was talking about the difference between Persian and Iranian in Al-Biruni's talk page and suddenly an IP addressing is harassing me, I have no problem with someone being against me, but feels like someone is after me who knows me from Wikipedia or has been lurking here, they used two different IP as far as I know, I 70% sure they are breaking some rules here, maybe you can look into that the weirdest part is he or she came to Wikipedia SOLELY to harass me.

Exhibit A: [the talk page with of Al-Biruni someone appeared with no name]

His or her IP address to see what they do

Exhibit B: In the Al-Khwarizmi talk page

His or her IP address to see what they do

Exhibit C: and this what brought me to think it is a harassment on another level, he or she followed me to an un-related talk page to his or her issues to create a hostile environment

The IP address

I urge you to deal with matter, this person is not here to edit or contribute anything of value, seems like an Iranian butthurt who got offended that there was a discussion. And accusation of being Turkish or Arab is being used which hold no water. Alexis Ivanov (talk) 21:13, 22 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

This is not surprising. Alexis Ivanov is an aggressively confrontational editor who peppers his posts with personal insults against other editors. His "mission statement" reveals his attitude towards dealing with editing disputes: [14] Tiptoethrutheminefield (talk) 23:37, 24 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Weird article creations edit

Hi Blade, Divyraj has been creating articles this month that look weird to me. They're well-formed, although very unreliably sourced, and contain tags that are dated well before this month. I'm not sure if they're undiscussed forks, have been taken from a mirror ... or something else. They certainly do not contain any attribution to indicate copying from another of our articles.

I've left an extremely brief note on their talk page and also nominated one of them for deletion under PROD because it really is pathetically sourced. Any chance of you trying to get your head round what is going on. Mine is fuzzy with meds. - Sitush (talk) 19:57, 4 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

Im just trying to promote Indian History here, I gave the reference ":Maharana Sanga: The Hindupat, the Last Great Leader of the Rajput Race. By Sarda Bilal" the date problem is because i took the format of the frame from a wiki article but did not copy anything, all thats written is from books. I probably failed to give proper references on paragraphs and would like help for that.Divyraj (talk) 20:36, 4 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

OK, thanks. And ignore my message, Blade. I'll have a word with Divyraj tomorrow when my head is cleared up. I'll explain how the tag templates work etc and they're welcome to ask any further questions. However, the big problem will remain that the sources are not reliable - the book you mention is far too old and we'll have to find something more suited to a modern encyclopaedia. You might find WP:HISTRS to be a useful read, and you perhaps also need to realise that even modern Indian history books are often unreliable due to the significant "rewriting" of history to suit various extreme viewpoints, such as Hindutva. - Sitush (talk) 21:14, 4 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

Moves on 5 October 2015 edit

Hi there - not sure what the backstory is with User:Tobias Conradi, but I happened upon the Kaiserbach valley article and was going to move it to Kaiserbach Valley as the typical English capitalization of proper nouns. Is there something I should know that encourages me to not do that? I didn't want to simply revert your revert of User:EdJohnston. Cheers - "Pepper" @ 21:09, 5 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

No problem at all; that was just a mass-revert of one of his socks. The amount of moves his socks do, and the low percentage of actually helpful ones, are such that when reverting them it's much more efficient to just do all of them. So basically no there's no problem, go ahead. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 23:10, 5 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

10:00am - 5:00pm (drop-in anytime!) at The Dorothy and Lewis B. Cullman Education and Research Building at the Museum of Modern Art, 4 West 54 Street - between 5th/6th, New York, NY 10019
Please note that this entrance is one block north of the main 53rd Street entrance, closer to 5th Avenue.

And bring your interested friends and colleagues!

For those outside of the city, or unable to join on Saturday, check out Art+Feminism regional and global events as well. --Pharos (talk) 21:48, 2 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

New and experienced editors are welcome. The event will include a training session for participants who are new to Wikipedia and Wikipedia specialists will be on hand to provide basic instruction and editing support.

Hello The Blade of the Northern Lights, my fingers cramped from typing your username :P I perfectly understand the necessity to ban problematic users but I don't see the point in deleting perfectly valid articles of their creation ie: Roman hippodrome of Berytus , even though this is specified in the criteria for speedy deletion policy. Clarity: POV edit

Hello Blade. I would like get clarity about your comment regarding POV and Sepsis II:

"I don't think this is someone who needs to be editing this topic area. It's bad enough as it is, and yet another person with a strong POV here is only adding more venom and toxicity to the editing environment."

Nishidani's first quote on his/her user page is, "the Palestinians are the only people on earth required to guarantee the security of the occupier, while Israel is the only country that demands protection from its victims." Hanan Ashrawi

Obviously, that quote, with a history replete of anti-Israel and pro-Palestinian nationalist editing, Nishidani has made clear his/her POV. As such, can you please clarify what separates Sepsis II (in terms of POV and aggressive editing) by nableezy, Nishidani, Zero0000, et al.? Thank you. KamelTebaast 22:38, 20 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

The first thing is that none of those editors are currently at AE, so we'll go from there. Sepsis II also has an extensive history of sanctions related to editing in the area, and as noted at AE very narrowly avoided an indefinite block for the same. Having a point of view on these matters is inevitable—I have one myself—and declaring your point of view is not inherently problematic; it's an issue when that POV shows up in content and when an editor starts attacking others over it. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 23:08, 20 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
Tebaast. The Erdogan effect. let's start a witch-hunt and get the rest of them bastards. I sympathize with the plight of the Tibetans, Australian aborigines, Amerindians as my editing history indicates and this extends to the Palestinian people (as our editor sympathizes with that extraordinary ensemble of people we call Karens). They are represented on Wikipedia by 1 editor and a conflict should not be written from one side, even if history is written by the victors. WP:NPOV places us all under an obligation to ensure that articles on a conflict in which two peoples are involved are balanced, with both accorded fair and proper representation. If you find this scandalous, and think that this must automatically translate into a form of anti-Israelism, then your understanding of a basic pillar of Wikipedia is flawed, and your familiarity with Israeli/diaspora scholarship and journalism seriously lacking. Your close of an AE request edit

Hi, Blade, may I call you the Blade of the Aurora? Thanks for closing the arbitration request concerning Doc9871. I had already banned Doc for a month and alerted him to the ban on his page, as well as logged it. But maybe he should be told on his page about your summary of the admin discussion, too — that he's "further warned that any disruption in the topic areas covered under Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/American politics 2 will lead to an extension and/or broadening of the ban"? I feel he may not look at the AE page again — currently he's not actually editing at all, perhaps being upset or angry about the ban (as anybody would be — nobody takes these things cheerfully). What do you think? If you agree he should be told about the warning on his page, I guess you would be the natural person to put it there? Bishonen | talk 00:14, 3 August 2016 (UTC).Reply

Can you approve an AfC? edit

I happen to have run into Draft:Boston_Landmark, and if this is typical of the AfC process there's something seriously wrong. This clearly qualifies for mainspace, regardless of how complete or incomplete it is, and regardless of what sources are actually listed in the article -- the idea that there aren't adequate sources for "Boston Landmarks" is absurd. I'm not seeing the approve button, so I'm guessing I'm missing some privilege. Can you do it? It should, however, be renamed Boston Landmarks. EEng 01:22, 25 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

Compare Lists of New York City Landmarks. We also have Category:Landmarks in New York City and Category:Locally designated landmarks in the United States. The Boston article could obviously have more sources, and notability should not be in question. See also List of National Historic Landmarks in Boston. So the contents of Draft:Boston Landmark might be harmonized with other existing stuff. The creator of Draft:Boston Landmark is 140.241.241.100 (talk · contribs) and we might want to encourage them. EdJohnston (talk) 02:19, 25 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
I think IP 140 later registered as User:Blcevie. They've been working on a bunch of Boston-related stuff and I'd hate to see them discouraged. (He/she seems to be an employee of the Boston Landmarks Commission, and no I don't think that's a COI, except maybe as to material on the Commission itself.) Apparently other cities have separate articles/lists for municipally designated landmarks vs. National Historic Landmarks (e.g. Landmarks_of_St._Louis) so while a title change may be appropriate I don't think a merge (with List of National Historic Landmarks in Boston) is, though one with Boston Landmarks Commission might make sense. Since I apparently lack the authority to rescue this from AfC, can one of you do it? EEng 05:26, 25 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
Once I can get in front of an actual computer and not a mobile device I'll do just that, definitely by the end of the day here. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 19:31, 25 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
Hey guys. I appreciate any help! I am both IP 140 and Blcevie. Its been quite a long and difficult process, with minimal feedback. the reason I did two different pages for the Boston Landmarks Commission and Boston Landmark is it seemed to follow suit with other articles I've seen, like with New York and St. Louis. Local landmarks are also vastly different from National landmarks, there is a different process for getting them designated and different outcomes from designation. I would really hate to lose this page, as I've put alot of time and effort into it. Its pretty important, as Boston is going through a lot of changes and development in the area. Any landmark or pending landmark will need review from the commission in a public hearing. Alot of the public would be interested in it. Blcevie (talk) 14:08, 26 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

Extended confirmed protection edit

Hello, The Blade of the Northern Lights. This message is intended to notify administrators of important changes to the protection policy.

Extended confirmed protection (also known as "30/500 protection") is a new level of page protection that only allows edits from accounts at least 30 days old and with 500 edits. The automatically assigned "extended confirmed" user right was created for this purpose. The protection level was created following this community discussion with the primary intention of enforcing various arbitration remedies that prohibited editors under the "30 days/500 edits" threshold to edit certain topic areas.

In July and August 2016, a request for comment established consensus for community use of the new protection level. Administrators are authorized to apply extended confirmed protection to combat any form of disruption (e.g. vandalism, sock puppetry, edit warring, etc.) on any topic, subject to the following conditions:

  • Extended confirmed protection may only be used in cases where semi-protection has proven ineffective. It should not be used as a first resort.
  • A bot will post a notification at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard of each use. MusikBot currently does this by updating a report, which is transcluded onto the noticeboard.

Please review the protection policy carefully before using this new level of protection on pages. Thank you.
This message was sent to the administrators' mass message list. To opt-out of future messages, please remove yourself from the list. 17:49, 23 September 2016 (UTC)

WMF waiting for our NPP short list edit

Hi, It's now been three weeks since we created the NPP Work Group and we are hoping for a dynamic push forward for the urgent updates and required improvements to the quality control of new pages.

We now have the attention of the WMF and their development team has made page patrolling a top priority. They are already working hard to address some of the major issues.

The success of this depends on our team being able to keep the developers supplied with the feedback they need - if we relax on this they will move on.

If you have not already done so, please complete your list of 10 preferences here as soon as possible from the list at To do - the WMF is waiting for our shortlist. Please note that No.8 (NOINDEX) has already been addressed.

Thanks for all your help. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 03:29, 13 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Two-Factor Authentication now available for admins edit

Hello,

Please note that TOTP based two-factor authentication is now available for all administrators. In light of the recent compromised accounts, you are encouraged to add this additional layer of security to your account. It may be enabled on your preferences page in the "User profile" tab under the "Basic information" section. For basic instructions on how to enable two-factor authentication, please see the developing help page for additional information. Important: Be sure to record the two-factor authentication key and the single use keys. If you lose your two factor authentication and do not have the keys, it's possible that your account will not be recoverable. Furthermore, you are encouraged to utilize a unique password and two-factor authentication for the email account associated with your Wikimedia account. This measure will assist in safeguarding your account from malicious password resets. Comments, questions, and concerns may be directed to the thread on the administrators' noticeboard. A new user right for New Page Patrollers edit

Hi The Blade of the Northern Lights.

A new user group, New Page Reviewer, has been created in a move to greatly improve the standard of new page patrolling. The user right can be granted by any admin at PERM. It is highly recommended that admins look beyond the simple numerical threshold and satisfy themselves that the candidates have the required skills of communication and an advanced knowledge of notability and deletion. Admins are automatically included in this user right.

It is anticipated that this user right will significantly reduce the work load of admins who patrol the performance of the patrollers. However, due to the complexity of the rollout, some rights may have been accorded that may later need to be withdrawn, so some help will still be needed to some extent when discovering wrongly applied deletion tags or inappropriate pages that escape the attention of less experienced reviewers, and above all, hasty and bitey tagging for maintenance. User warnings are available here but very often a friendly custom message works best.

If you have any questions about this user right, don't hesitate to join us at WT:NPR. (Sent to all admins).MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:48, 15 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

New Page Review needs your help edit

Hi The Blade of the Northern Lights,

As an AfC reviewer you're probably aware that a new user right has been created for patrolling new pages (you might even have been granted the right already, and admins have it automatically).

Since July there has been a very serious backlog at Special:NewPagesFeed of over 14,000 pages, by far the worst since 2011, and we need an all out drive to get this back down to just a few hundred that can be easily maintained in the future. Unlike AfC, these pages are already in mainspace, and the thought of what might be there is quite scary. There are also many good faith article creators who need a simple, gentle push to the Tea House or their pages converted to Draft rather than being deleted.

Although New Page Reviewing can occasionally be somewhat more challenging than AfC, the criteria for obtaining the right are roughly the same. The Page Curation tool is even easier to use than the Helper Script, so it's likely that most AfC reviewers already have more than enough knowledge for the task of New Page Review.

It is hoped that AfC reviewers will apply for this right at WP:PERM and lend a hand. You'll need to have read the page at WP:NPR and the new tutorial.

(Sent to all active AfC reviewers) MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 16:33, 15 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open! edit

Hello, The Blade of the Northern Lights. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:08, 21 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

User talk:NWAyeah edit

I requested a block on the above editor because they admitted there were multiple users using the same account. Granted, I requested it at UAA, but there is no problem with their username at all. If I'd have taken it to ANI, there would have been a weeks worth of debate before nobody decided to do nothing (only slightly tongue in cheek). I'm here asking that you a) clarify the reason for their block on their userpage, and b) change it from a softerblock to whatever is appropriate for blatant violation of TOU.

On the subject of that editor, you can see all the warnings on their page for non constructive edits, and the subject of their edits parallels non constructive edits originating from IPs registered to the University of Idaho, which were subject of a discussion at ANI a couple months ago. Just an FYI.

Obviously all is at your discretion, but please at least clarify your block notification. There is clearly no problem with the username. Thanks. John from Idegon (talk) 05:11, 23 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

My thinking was knowing what NWA stands for, but the other stuff there was plenty blockworthy in its own right. I'll leave another message explaining it. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 05:25, 23 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Manrub08 edit

I think this block may have been in error. While yes, they tripped the edit filter, they had filed a report here: [23] explaining the edit. They are right too, Chaparral and Chaparral cock are two different thing, and they were referring to the roadrunner. I actually was getting ready to note that this was a false positive before the block. RickinBaltimore (talk) 19:22, 31 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Yes, it was; there was an IP below it on AIV, I misclicked and got the account instead. I'll clean it up, one second. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 19:23, 31 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Voting for coordinators has now begun HERE and will continue through/to 23:59 UTC Monday 06 March. The coordinators will do their best for for the advancement of the improvement of NPP and AfC and generally keep tracks on the development of those things. Coordinators have no additional or special user benefits, but they will be 'go to' people and will try to keep discussions in the right places. This very much involves this project too, especially with growing renewed interest around the site about what WP:ACTRIAL was all about.

Please be sure to vote. Any registered, confirmed editor can vote. Nominations are now closed.

March 11: Art+Feminism Edit-a-thon @ MoMA (and beyond!) edit

Saturday March 11: Art+Feminism Edit-a-thon @ MoMA

Join us at the Dorothy and Lewis B. Cullman Education and Research Building at the Museum of Modern Art, 4 West 54th Street, on Saturday, March 11, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for an all-day communal updating of Wikipedia entries on subjects related to art and feminism. There will be childcare, snacks, multiple trainings and panel discussions. People of all gender identities and expressions welcomed and encouraged to attend.

This year’s edit-a-thon kicks off at 10:00 a.m. with a conversation about information activism with writer Joanne McNeil and Data & Society Research Institute Fellow Zara Rahman, moderated by Kimberly Drew, the social media manager for the Metropolitan Museum of Art, creator of the Tumblr “Black Contemporary Art,” and the person behind @museummammy on Instagram. Afternoon breakout groups will engage in focused discussions about related issues, including intersectionality and librarianship, power structures in notability guidelines on Wikipedia, and radical archives. --Pharos (talk) 18:46, 7 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Disambiguation link notification for March 15 edit

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Brendan (given name), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Brendan Ryan. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Sunday March 26: Action=History Wiki-Hackathon @ Ace Hotel edit

Sunday March 26: Action=History Wiki-Hackathon @ Ace Hotel

On the last Sunday of every month, the Boardroom at Ace Hotel New York hosts Action Equals History — a unique opportunity for New Yorkers to learn hands-on in a technology training/workshop session about the mechanics, practices and benefits of Wikipedia and the Wikimedia projects. This is an opportunity for all to gather, share and work collectively towards a more robust account of history.

For this month, and following on the recent Art+Feminism campaign, we'll focus on building better edit-a-thon tools for a variety of different thematic campaigns, and user-testing them with the community. Towards a goal of advancing these tools for wider use with diverse local groups.

Newcomers are very welcome! Bring your friends and colleagues! --Pharos (talk) 05:13, 21 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
