Welcome Idontknowwhattouseasmyusername300!

Hello Idontknowwhattouseasmyusername300. Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions!

I'm Sm8900, one of the other editors here, and I hope you decide to stay and help contribute to this amazing repository of knowledge.

To get some practice editing you can use a sandbox. You can create your own personal sandbox for use any time. It's perfect for working on bigger projects. Then for easy access in the future, you can put {{My sandbox}} on your user page. By the way, seeing as you haven't created a user page yet, simply click here to start it.

Please remember to:

  • Always sign your posts on talk pages. You can do this either by clicking on the   button on the edit toolbar or by typing four tildes ~~~~ at the end of your post. This will automatically insert your signature, a link to your talk page, and a timestamp.
  • Leave descriptive edit summaries for your edits. Doing so helps other editors understand what changes you have made and why you made them.

Edit on Folketing's article

Hello, I'm not trying to experiment; I thought using "folk", a native Germanic cognate word, would compliment the use of "thing" in the first English literal translation of "folketing" (which is the equivalent of a compound of "folk" and "thing" in English). As you can see, I left "people" alone in second translation, which is more idiomatic than the first. While not completely necessary, I do believe my edit was justified. 2603:3015:D01:8000:6842:D65D:5E25:7F54 (talk) 23:01, 26 January 2023 (UTC)

Rollback granted

Hi Idontknowwhattouseasmyusername300. After reviewing your request, I have temporarily enabled rollback on your account until 2023-04-04. Please keep the following things in mind while using rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle or RedWarn.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into trouble or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 13:52, 3 March 2023 (UTC)

Laxman Narasimhan

The edit to Laxman Narasimhan included this source note

"He wasn't at Reckitt in 2011 and the meeting with survivors was in 2019 when he joined. Starbucks use of cage-free eggs has nothing to do with him."

He was working at McKinsey until 2012 and then was at PepsiCo until 2019. The statement "While heading Reckitt" seems to be incorrect. The scandal in South Korea was already in the news in 2016.

[2]https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-36185549

And I don't see how it's relevant to his personal biography and Starbucks' commitment to cage-free eggs. He didn't make the policy or change it. Lawp2023x (talk) 15:04, 23 March 2023 (UTC)

The reason why I reverted your edit was how large the section of the article that your edit removed was yet the edit was still marked as minor. also edits that delete a large amount of references tend to be vandalism. after I post this reply I will add the "incorrect use of minor edit checkbox" notification to your talk page. Is the Order a Rabbit edit

Hello Idontknowwhattouseasmyusername300, I do apologize if my edits were somehow unconstructive, it was definitely not my intention to vandalize the Is the Order a Rabbit page - I was just attempting to clean up a few errors in grammar and syntax. It is possible that my edits may have been unwarranted in some way, and I may have made a mistake and am willing to learn. Would you care to elaborate how they were unconstructive? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fanatizka (talkcontribs) 17:24, 30 March 2023 (UTC)

Warnings

Hi, if a vandal has had a {{uw-van4}} and they vandalise again, you can report them to WP:AIV without any further thought (Twinkle can do that for you). Normally you can safely report them if they keep going after a {{uw-vand3}} unless it might be good faith and it's worth giving an extra warning. There's no need to keep warning someone who clearly doesn't care. Best, HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 18:09, 5 April 2023 (UTC)

Users blanking their own talk pages

This is in reference to User talk:2601:89:C602:29B0:44AC:4E7E:3873:67E1 (pinging Starship 24 since this involves you as well). Users are allowed to blank their own talk pages which should merely be viewed as an acknowledgement of having read the message (see WP:BLANKING).

The messages can still be seen in the page history, and escalation should still proceed as normal (e.g. if you place {{uw-error1}} and the user blanks and repeats the edit, follow it up with {{uw-error2}} just as if the blanking had not occurred). Some RCPers prefer to include a note with their AIV reports when a user has a habit of blanking warnings, but responding sysops are almost certainly going to check the page history even without one.

None of this should prevent you from reverting if the removals are coincident with some other form of disruption (e.g. replacing the page with obscenities), but I suppose that goes without saying. However, because user talk pages have such low visibility it's usually fine to just ignore any disruption unless particularly severe. 74.73.224.126 (talk) 02:10, 6 April 2023 (UTC)

Addendum, in a few cases I've seen people place {{OW}} on a user talk page that's been blanked to alert others to previous warning(s) while avoiding the wall of shame aspect, however that's probably also going to be blanked (and should not be edit-warred in) unless added after a substantial delay. Further a blank talk page is itself an indicator to passerbys to check the history. 74.73.224.126 (talk) 02:16, 6 April 2023 (UTC)

I changed   to   and you reverted it, saying it does not appear to be constructive. But the latter usage is standard. The symbol   is used in such expressions as   and   and   is used in things like   There can be little doubt that only a deficiency of skill in TeX or LaTeX on the part of the person who wrote the earlier version is the reason why \cup rather than \bigcup was used in this instance. Revert at Linux

Hi - I noticed this revert you made at Linux and just wanted to remind you that reverting should not be used to undo easily-fixed and useful contributions like that one (see Wikipedia:Revert only when necessary). You mention in your edit summary that your reason for reverting was they had forgotten to remove a comma (I actually think what they had was acceptable, but I do agree that removing the comma improves sentence flow there) - this is something you could have very easily done yourself, and realistically would have been easier than making the revert and leaving the editor a message. In addition, the message you left at the editor's talk page where you state Im not issuing you a warning could be taken as a suggestion that you could have issued a warning for that edit by a newer editor, when this is clearly not what you meant - I would suggest avoiding even mentioning warnings when none are required in the future. What on Earth do you mean that my edit is vandalism?! What nonsense!! My edit is precisely accurate from Rotten Tomatoes themselves! No one had any other issues with the other edits I have made on the Hobbit trilogy, so why now is it a problem?! You can even see it for yourself! https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/the_hobbit_an_unexpected_journey

As you can see, there are 306 reviews, bringing up to 6.60 out of 10! Why is this such an issue now when it didn't matter for the others?! I am trying to make it as accurate to other sites as possible! I'm not vandalizing anything!!

so ur saying there could be a freaking thai person who sings in khmer surin? im a khmer surin myself, and i can distinguish the difference between khmer and khmer surin. look at his khmer songs, its all khmer surin. there is as well khemr aspects of his song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=37J1SlhKkQQ

Im just enforcing a policy. You are welcome to find a source for the information and readd the information with the source. Idontknowwhattouseasmyusername300 (talk) 16:16, 3 October 2023 (UTC)
k man, but important words: No thai would not speak KHMER SURIN. Borderenity (talk) 16:19, 3 October 2023 (UTC)

Borderentity What you know to be true does not matter. All that matters is that information in the article MUST have verifying references. David notMD (talk) 18:48, 3 October 2023 (UTC)

maybe youtube? theres like 100s of songs of him speaking in khmer surin. Borderenity (talk) 19:51, 3 October 2023 (UTC)

Removed Edit on Austria Wiki

Hello,

What citation do I need for the edits? The info is already cited within the references I edited.

I edited the parenthesis because they read as an "aside" when the material is actually important to understand that (cited) history. Parentheses are used for non-critical information like in the sentence before this one. The parentheticals in the Austria page belittle the impact of that detailed, cited information. 188.147.76.61 (talk) 20:28, 4 October 2023 (UTC)

I dont see any inline citations in the second paragraph. It is unclear what the source was for the information you added to the second paragraph. Idontknowwhattouseasmyusername300 (talk) 13:13, 6 October 2023 (UTC)

california valley miwok tribe

Hello, I am horrible at policing and editing / reverting. You once fixed the california valley miwok page on March 21 2023 at 13:32. I was blocked after partial revert but see you have the credentials, knowledge and experience. Someone is at it again and it is not completely as fixed as you left it. Could you please assist and revert whole page back to your last fix? Thank you. UndisputedFacts (talk) 09:25, 11 October 2023 (UTC)

Adriansnephew

You notified Adriansnephew that his username may be against policy because "it implies that [he] is related to a notable person". But surely all it implies is that he is male and has an uncle named Adrian? Am I missing something? Dorsetonian (talk) 18:54, 11 October 2023 (UTC)

I've since seen "since you username is clearly implying you are related to the person, it violates WP:IMPERSONATE". I disagree. Dorsetonian (talk) 18:56, 11 October 2023 (UTC)
Check his edits to Powered parachute he was changing the name of Adrian Vandenburg and claiming the original spelling is wrong. He claimed that he is related to Adrian Vandenburg. The first edit he made as a IP, then he made the same edit but as the account. Idontknowwhattouseasmyusername300 (talk) 19:00, 11 October 2023 (UTC)
I still don't think there is a problem with the name - Adrian is a common name. The IP's edit summary does suggest this is the same person and it is the same Adrian (I didn't see that) and there may be a COI, but even then I'd say it's likely he's right and the best thing to do is check it and reference it rather than warn. There may be a COI but that's ok if the edit actually corrects an error. I'll look for such reference now ... Dorsetonian (talk) 19:05, 11 October 2023 (UTC)
All the refs I could find say "Vandenburg" (apart from the actually cited one, which capitalises the B). So we go with the refs and I agree with your revert on the basis that the change was unreferenced. But I still don't buy the idea that the username per se is a problem - I think it would have to be much more specific than simply "Adrian", even in this context. Dorsetonian (talk) 19:16, 11 October 2023 (UTC)
My name is Scott van den Berg. Adrian van den Berg (MY Uncle Ad) was born in Apeldoorn, Netherlands. He lived in Willingboro, NJ while he worked with Steve Snyder... before moving to Florida. Your spelling of his last name is WRONG. I'm not even challenging the validity of the rest of the article. Who would randomly change a last name like that? There's better things I could do if I was vandalizing. I hope it off respect for my now deceased uncle, you'd have the courtesy of spelling his name right. Thanks. Adriansnephew (talk) 23:34, 11 October 2023 (UTC)
Although it must be frustrating, Wikipedia's policy on verifiability states that we must go with what the reliable published sources say. Please see Verifiability, not truth for an essay that explains that further. Dorsetonian (talk) 06:36, 12 October 2023 (UTC)

Hi, I was trying to add a reference from the documentary film Milli Vanilli by Luke Korem. The addition I added was simply an explanation of him using black artists to lip sync the music he created. Removed edit on Sirwan Barzani page

Hi Shadow311,

You removed my edit on the Sirwan Barzani wikipedia page. I believe this to be unjustified. I personally believe the way the page currently reads to be too negative in tone, going against Wikipedia's neutrality guidelines. You cited that my edits went against those same guidelines. Is there a reason certain parts of the page aren't able to be reworded to be less negative?

Thanks, Owltrch456 (talk) 16:36, 5 January 2024 (UTC)

More than 350 casualties claimed by PAF pilot

In a leaked phone call conversation between PAF College, Lower Topa, Lecturer Hafiz Farooq Ahmed Khan and his former student, PAF pilot Hassan Siddiqui, Hassan Siddiqui mentioned that the media was not reporting what actually happened there – claiming that there had been more than 350 casualties (Indian). Overjoyed with the performance of his student, Khan mentioned forwarding the recorded audio to dozens of his relatives and friends to ‘highlight the spirit’ of the Pakistan Air Force. However, he suffered a blow when the Air Intelligence Agency of PAF noticed the call. Later, Khan was arrested in July 2019 and court-martialed under Section 71 of the PAF Act, 1953. He was accused of committing an offence that may be useful to the enemy. He was charged with unauthorized possession of documents and leaking the coveted information on social media.
Can I add this information in the Airstrikes section of the 2019 Jammu and Kashmir airstrikes article ? NEWS Source : [Daily Pakistan] & Call recording : [Soundcloud] King Ayan Das (talk) 08:55, 7 January 2024 (UTC)

Animals in video games

Hold your horses there dude. You quickly reverted my edit to the animals in video games page without reading my edit summary carefully. As far as I know, it has never been officially confirmed that Pokémon are animals. So why did you revert my edit? 208.138.49.48 (talk) 16:21, 9 January 2024 (UTC)

Well, "animal" is a more neutral term than "monster". Shadow311 (talk) 16:22, 9 January 2024 (UTC)
But that doesn't really matter in this case, does it? As far as I know, fictional monsters have supernatural powers, i.e. in the case of Pokémon, Pikachu with producing electricity, Charmander with producing fire. Fictional animals don't normally have such capabilities with the exceptions of those who are specified as being animals (i.e. superheroes like Mighty Mouse and Underdog). Just my two cents. 208.138.49.48 (talk) 16:31, 9 January 2024 (UTC)

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. 2601:5CC:8300:A7F0:9890:12E8:5E1F:8654 (talk) 17:16, 29 January 2024 (UTC)
