Welcome!Edit

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions, such as the ones you made to Indianapolis. I hope you like the place and decide to stay.

Here are some links to pages you may find useful:

You don't have to log in to read or edit articles on Wikipedia, but if you wish to acquire additional privileges, you can simply create a named account. It's free, requires no personal information, and lets you:

Note that in order for the first three features to be available, you must have had an account for a minimum number of days and made a minimum number of edits.

If you edit without using a named account, your IP address (47.227.95.73) is used to identify you instead.

I hope that you, as a Wikipedian, decide to continue contributing to our project: an encyclopedia of human knowledge that anyone can edit. Disambiguation pagesEdit

Please note that disambiguation pages like Trafalgar are meant to help readers find a specific existing article quickly and easily. For that reason, they have guidelines that are different from articles. From the Wikipedia:Disambiguation dos and don'ts you should:

  • Only list articles that readers might reasonably be looking for
  • Use short sentence fragment descriptions, with no punctuation at the end
  • Use exactly one navigable link ("blue link") in each entry that mentions the title being disambiguated
  • Only add a "red link" if used in existing articles, and include a "blue link" to an appropriate article
  • Do not pipe links (unless style requires it) – keep the full title of the article visible
  • Do not insert external links or references - Wikipedia is not a business directory
  • Do not add articles to acronym or initials disambiguation pages unless the person or entity is widely known by that name (in which case it should be stated in the linked article).

Thank you. Leschnei (talk) 00:21, 17 April 2020 (UTC)

May 2020Edit

Hello, I'm Ed6767. I noticed that you recently removed content from Anthony LeBlanc without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Ed6767 (talk) 23:10, 8 May 2020 (UTC)

If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits referred to above, consider creating an account for yourself or logging in with an existing account so that you can avoid further irrelevant notices.

I have noted 2 common mistakes you are making, first, that original user was not posting spam links, but was in fact overlinking. Second on the LeBlanc one, this was not disruptive or unconstructive to the page, I would let this stand and just correct the errors rather than an undo and warn as it clearly wasn't in bad faith. Ed6767 (talk) 23:15, 8 May 2020 (UTC)

This is your only warning; if you vandalize Wikipedia again, as you did at Wikipedia:Usernames for administrator attention, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Removal of username from admin page Lars.Dormans (talk) 12:24, 9 May 2020 (UTC)

If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits referred to above, consider creating an account for yourself or logging in with an existing account so that you can avoid further irrelevant notices.

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to blank out or remove portions of page content, templates, or other materials from Wikipedia without adequate explanation, as you did at D'Artagnan and Three Musketeers, you may be blocked from editing. Lars.Dormans (talk) 13:11, 9 May 2020 (UTC)

If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits referred to above, consider creating an account for yourself or logging in with an existing account so that you can avoid further irrelevant notices.

Alexf Can I ask you to take another look at this block? The latest edit seems like an edit conflict. The previous edits are not bad (helpful in fact). At least one of those warnings above is a complete nonsense. I'd ask if you could take another look to see if you might be mistaken. Thanks. -- zzuuzz (talk) 22:38, 15 May 2020 (UTC)

Case reviewed. Block in error. Lifted. Thanks. -- Alexf(talk) 00:43, 16 May 2020 (UTC)

Thanks! 47.227.95.73 (talk) 17:28, 16 May 2020 (UTC)

Hello. Regarding the recent revert you made: you may already know about them, but you might find Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace useful. After a revert, these can be placed on the user's talk page to let them know you considered their edit inappropriate, and also direct new users towards the sandbox. They can also be used to give a stern warning to a vandal when they've been previously warned. Ed6767 (talk) 22:22, 20 May 2020 (UTC)

If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits referred to above, consider creating an account for yourself or logging in with an existing account so that you can avoid further irrelevant notices.

You should really create an accountEdit

Hey, I just saw all of your contributions, and they're really good. Why don't you create an account? Your IP is visible, so that means people can find out where you live. If you create an account, you get to hide your IP. It's also stated that your IP is part of a company, so that means that your IP can switch, and then all of your contributions and awards will go away. Additionally, with an account, you can rename pages, you'll be given a bit more weight in discussions (it's not supposed to happen, but it does), and you can enable anti-vandalism features, like Twinkle. I highly recommend you create an account, and after about 200 edits, you can sign up for the Counter Vandalism Academy. Additionally, once you gain experience, you can get permissions, such as rollback and pending changes, and edit semi-protected and 30/500 protected pages. If you have any questions, drop a line on my talk page. Thanks! Thanoscar21talk, contribs 15:17, 3 June 2020 (UTC)

June 2020Edit

Hello, I'm Get a smart idea. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at the tutorial on citing sources. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Got a smart ideaTell me about it📩 14:21, 8 June 2020 (UTC)

Removal of warningsEdit

Hello 47.227.95.73, hope you are well. I saw that you are reinstating warnings that Startup Sapience removed on their talk page. Editors are actually allowed to remove warnings on their own talk pages according to WP:BLANKING. There are only a few notices and messages that can not be removed, they are listed at WP:KEEPDECLINEDUNBLOCK. Just wanted to give you a heads up. Tom DolbyEdit

Hi there, I uploaded and edit to my boss's page at his request to change the incorrect marriage dates and got a message saying I need a source. How do I prove this short of uploading a marriage certificate? Please help thanks!--Elenastein (talk) 16:29, 31 July 2020 (UTC)

Hi Elenastein, and thank you for your contribution! To prove your edit you need to provide a reliable source, for more information see WP:CITE and WP:RS. 47.227.95.73 (talk) 19:22, 31 July 2020 (UTC)

Hi! Unfortunately neither of these articles answer my question as again, nothing short of actual divorce papers exist as a "source" to prove this fact, which I can neither obtain nor I assume upload. I simple have no idea how to prove this besides the fact the person whose life it is told me. I am at a total loss please help. Elenastein (talk) 21:20, 31 July 2020 (UTC)

Well, if you don't have any proof besides claiming that Tom Dolby himself told you this, and since you can't add the source proving this, I don't know how you could prove this. I suggest asking someone with more experience than me about this. 47.227.95.73 (talk) 00:42, 1 August 2020 (UTC)

Creating an account?Edit

Hi. I just saw all of your contributions, and you are just like me who is interested in removing vandalism. But as mentioned in a previous section, I would also recommend you to create an account because 1.it hides your IP address so people won't know where you live, 2. There are many tools that requires an registered account that is just for removing/reverting vandalism, like twinkle, RedWarn, which I use, they are perfect for reverting vandalism just with one single click on modes: On redwarn, there are 20 diffrent types, which most of them will have a pre canned edit summary so it takes very short, and on twinkle there are 3, AGF, standard, vandalism rollback which the vandalism rollback takes a single click and standard rollback will need an edit summary, AGF will mark it as a revert for a good faith edit which is usually for reverting unsourced changes. I strongly recommend you create an account, just press the Create Account button on the top right. Thanks, User3749 (talk) 17:33, 31 July 2020 (UTC)

Thanks to you both for your help. As other IP editors have been the same unhelpful change, I've asked for the page to be semi-protected. Unfortunately that would have the side-effect of preventing good IP editors from reverting vandalism: another reason for considering making an account. Certes (talk) 13:03, 1 August 2020 (UTC)

Reverting vandalismEdit

Hello, and thank you for removing vandalism from Andy Murray. We appreciate this, but unfortunately your edit was not successful in restoring the article to its pre-vandalised state. For future reference, it is better to deal with vandalism by checking the article's page history to determine how it appeared before it was vandalised. You can then restore the whole article, or the relevant part of it, to an appropriate earlier version. If you simply delete the visible vandalism then any content removed or overwritten by the vandal is lost. See How to deal with vandalism for details. Thank you.—J. M. (talk) 20:48, 5 August 2020 (UTC)

Hello. Sorry about that. I didn't revert that other edit because I wasn't sure if it was vandalism or not. Again, sorry. 47.227.95.73 (talk) 20:51, 5 August 2020 (UTC)
If someone is willing to vandalize a page, their previous edits are likely also vandalism. While such a rule can't be applied to good faith edits, it is always the case for vandalism and that is why cluebot ng and such reverts like that. Naleksuh (talk) 06:48, 6 August 2020 (UTC)

Hello TooterTurtle2003, the problem with your edit was that you didn't adhere to WP:NPOV, meaning you added content that had a non-neutral point-of-view. You also didn't provide a reliable source. So if you could fix that, you are more than welcome to add it. Thank you for contributing! 47.227.95.73 (talk) 12:21, 13 August 2020 (UTC)

HiEdit

Thanks for helping Wikipedia a ton. I have a question, is there a reason why you haven't created an account? just wondering. also, nice work. --BlueCrabRedCrab 16:54, 13 August 2020 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) I'll suggest some answers:
  • Too much hassle.
  • Someone who reverts vandalism a lot tends to get picked up elsewhere on the internet and attacked. Who'd want that?
  • It's a good test to see how careful people are about templating people, as can be seen by the history.
  • He doesn't want to be an admin (one of the hard and fast things you need at RfA is an account)

Perhaps somebody should create a FAQ for this? Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 12:44, 30 August 2020 (UTC)

How to stop a user from making false editsEdit

Is there anyway to stop user 174.253.65.34 from continuing to undo and revert the edits done by many so that the false information he keeps setting it back to can be stopped? This Wiki has been factual and correct for years until now.. but the mad man keeps going in and reverting the page back to false information 2 or 3 times a day now no matter who changes it back and he's been doing it for months.
