To apply to become an administrator, you may nominate yourself at WP:RFA. Keep in mind, however, that candidates rarely pass RfA with fewer than 3,000 or 4,000 edits, and you only have 59 contributions. Regards, –Juliancolton | Talk 21:53, 9 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hi, thanks for your comment, I notice you are a new editor to this wikipedia, would you please explain your comment a little more, as to why you think Julian would make a good bureaucrat, Wikipedia:Requests_for_bureaucratship/Juliancolton#Support (Off2riorob (talk) 21:52, 13 July 2009 (UTC))Reply

How to create a bot. edit

You would need to be quite advanced in computer programming and code writing, which I am not. If you are and you want to know more about it, you could try asking User:Henrik as I know he has made one. Good luck. (Off2riorob (talk) 23:50, 13 July 2009 (UTC))Reply

Well, only sysops have the ability to delete pages or files, but there are appropriate venues for non-admins to request deletion, depending on the nature of the content. See WP:DEL for more info. Cheers, –Juliancolton | Talk 02:46, 14 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

cmt. at Jimbo's talk page edit

Do you mean this? Griffinofwales (talk) 02:08, 22 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

I'll second that, although I think the name of "Questions" rather than "Village Pump" might be more accessible to newcomers. :-) In any event, I don't get involved with such things as naming pages and figuring out what links should be on the home page.--Jimbo Wales (talk) 11:53, 22 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Well, we already have Wikipedia:Questions. The English Wikipedia is significantly larger than Simple English Wikipedia, so we've created several pages for questions and divided them by topic/category. As noted above, the "Village Pump" is the most similar to SEW's "Simple Talk", which is more about discussion, whereas the help desks are specifically for questions. August 2009 edit

Please do not add content without citing verifiable and reliable sources, as you did to Olympic symbols. Before making any potentially controversial edits, it is recommended that you discuss them first on the article's talk page. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. You've been adding unsourced, conjectural material to articles. Please use reliable sources, per WP:RS. Binksternet (talk) 00:09, 1 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did to Ku Klux Klan. Your edits appear to constitute vandalism and have been reverted. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Binksternet (talk) 00:10, 1 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hey! edit

Sorry, I've been very, very busy the last few months and had practically no time to check in on Wiki. Is there anything I can do to help you out? :) Cheers, Master of Puppets Call me MoP! :D 18:50, 7 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

That one's not bad at all, don't be silly! :) I had one storyboarded out from before, but I never had the chance to make it. Basically, here's how it goes;
(shot of a Greek statue, GFDL of course) "From the hands of the ancients..." (font in the same colour as the backdrop behind the statue, picture pans to the side and the statue reveals the words. Fade text and change to picture of Vancouver games 2010 logo) "... to the hands of the future..." (pan text, now white, in same fashion; fade, change to picture of Olympic rings) "One thing remains the same; their future is in OUR hands." Rings gleam once, then all text is replaced by "Join Wikiproject Olympics today!"
How does that sound? :) Feel free to change anything if you'd like, and tell me when you'd like me to make it; and yes, I know that it's quite lame. :P Cheers! Master of Puppets Call me MoP! :D 18:42, 10 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of ~~Signature~~ edit

A tag has been placed on ~~Signature~~ requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. BrianY (talk) 23:23, 13 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hi there! I've moved this to your userspace, since it looks like you mean to use it as your personal signature. Don't forget to substitute it, if that's the case. AnturiaethwrTalk 23:29, 13 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

File:Ipod Touch 1st Generation.JPG edit

Hi! I just want to give you a heads up that just because you say you own an image doesn't mean you do, and that the file is improperly licensed. I can keep a secret, but sooner rather than later someone will discover your iPod Touch image, tag is as improperly licensed, and have it deleted. Don't take it personally - they are neurotic about copyright here and (especially) on Commons. An image very similar to yours was uploaded to the English Wikipedia, but was recently deleted. I contested it; they deleted using an automated tool that didn't care. I'm going to work some template magic here, but don't expect it to survive long on Commons. Speedy deletion nomination of Doodle Jump edit

A tag has been placed on Doodle Jump requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for web content.

<>Multi-Xfer<> (talk) 23:19, 31 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for File:Doodle jump icon.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Doodle jump icon.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. <>Multi-Xfer<> (talk) 00:04, 1 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Nintendo task force membership update edit

It's that time again to update membership status with the Nintendo task force, which we try to do every 3-4 months to keep our membership up-to-date.

All participants have been placed on an "Inactive participants" list. To confirm that you're still a member of the Nintendo task force, simply go to Wikipedia:WikiProject Video games/Nintendo#Members and move your name from the "Inactive participants" list to the bottom of the "Active participants" list. If you are no longer an active member in the task force, you may simply remove your name altogether. After 1 month, on October 1, all entries under the "Inactive participants" list will be removed. Hopefully you can stay with us and continue to work on Nintendo-related articles. Regards, MuZemike 17:57, 1 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Re: Your new userbox added on 17 Sept over at WP:Userboxes/New Userboxes - a rouge n has got in there... Plutonium27 (talk) 17:44, 18 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Rouge is for rogue (its why I linked it) - anyway its an internets mispelling term like 'teh' or 'pwned' and doesn't really matter. The rogue is the extra 'n' in the new userbox you designed. It has Istanbul spelt incorrectly - you put 'Instanbul' instead. Plutonium27 (talk) 00:43, 19 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Bollywood Wikipe-tan edit

I saw your message in my talkpage, Secret Saturdays. Sorry for my late reply.

I have little knowledge of Bollywood clothing (though I know what Bollywood is). Are they the same thing as the traditional dresses of India? Or, more strange ones? Could you show me the photos or illustrations of typical Bollywood clothings? The more sources the better.--Kasuga (talk) 16:51, 19 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Uh...sorry. I saw your materials and worked on some sketches for the work for these three days. But I couldn't finish your request. Bollywood clothing is complicated, and my knowledge and art-skill are not enough for them. Please give me the time for study and training a bit more. --Kasuga (talk) 10:09, 24 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Please change your signature edit

Your signature as it is now displays the current time, rather than the time you wrote down each comment. I can see that you're trying to fix this, and I can help you fix it: you need to put the word "Subst" after each {{ in the template for it to work the way you want.

But your signature is still too long (it should not be more than 255 bytes, and is currently almost double that (see here). And as mentioned before, you shouldn't be subst'ing a sig from a subpage anyway. So please revert back to the signature you had before you had started using the fancy subpage. If you have any more questions you can ask me on my talkpage. -- Soap Talk/Contributions 23:17, 20 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Your signature... edit

...is beyond broken. Firstly, when I reply, the last thing I want to see is a massive block of text-

[[User:Secret Saturdays|<font color="orange">Secret Saturdays</font>]] ([[User Talk: Secret Saturdays|talk to me]]) <span style="border: 3px solid #7FFF00;">
<span style="background: gold; color: Black;">{{CURRENTDAYNAME}},
<span style="background: black; color: yellow;">{{CURRENTMONTHNAME}}
{{CURRENTDAY}},
<span style="background: #ED1C24; color: #66023C;">{{CURRENTYEAR}}
<span style="background: #6050DC; color: #004953;">{{CURRENTTIME}} (UTC)

Secondly, your signature updates, depending on the time the page is loaded (which obviously defeats the point) as you are not subst'ing your date templates. Thirdly, your "green box around the text" thing doesn't close, which means subsequent comments also get it. While I'm here, this talk page is massive (due in part to the ridiculous userpage content at the top- use your user page for that stuff) and the unarchived newsletters, and the centralised formatting makes it difficult to read... J Milburn (talk) 21:43, 21 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

It took me a full eight seconds to load this talk page in order to respond. I didn't mean to anger you, but I do think you are overreacting a little. Talk pages are intended for communication- if there is any biographical information at all, it should really be quite brief, and probably restricted to a header/edit notice; not the several sections you have. Also, newsletters are typically very large (the WikiCup newsletter is one of the larger ones) and so removing/archiving as soon as they have been read is perhaps a good idea. Hi User:Secret Saturdays,
Regarding the plot section, take a look here --> Wikipedia:How to write a plot summary#Length.
It tells you how much words you can have, because the plot is very long.
Also think about just what's really important to keep.
Otherwise, the article looks great to me!

Before you nominate any more images, please take a look at those criteria. If you're not sure if an image meets the criteria, head over to Wikipedia:Picture peer review, where experienced FP contributors will give you their opinions about the image and suggestions for improving it. Thanks again for your participation at FPC. We hope to see you around there again in the future. Regards, Makeemlighter (talk) 04:19, 14 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Olympic Bid edit

Feel free to nominate. I don't think it has a great shot, but go for it. The effort will likely raise the quality of the article. Ping me when it is up so I can watch it (and maybe help out a little).--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 02:29, 16 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Secret Saturdays, would you consider withdrawing the nomination? It's clearly not ready, and the FAC is quite frankly a drain on reviewer resources, which could be spent on more prepared nominations. In addition, I don't want to come across as harsh but your past two nominations (Wall-E and this) show why it's really not a good idea to nominate articles you haven't worked on (even with the primary contributor's permission), as you don't have a good sense of how ready an article is when you aren't intimately familiar with the subject matter and probably do not have access to all the necessary sources. There's nothing to stop you from working with the primary contributor to improve the article, though. Thanks for your understanding, Dabomb87 (talk) 04:15, 17 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Proposed major reforms to decade articles edit

Hi - I noticed you have contributed recently to one or more of the decade articles (1990s, 1960s etc). I am proposing some major changes to these articles, as I have outlined in Talk:1990s/Archives/2012#Suggested_reform_of_decade_articles, and I would be interested in hearing your views in the first instance. Thanks. Kransky (talk) 08:51, 17 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

DYK nomination of Love? (album) edit

Hello! Your submission of Love? (album) at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and there still are some issues that may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) underneath your nomination's entry and respond there as soon as possible. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know! Geraldk (talk) 02:10, 18 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Morocco edit

Hi there. I notice you recently passed the article Morocco as a GA, but I'm afraid I have opened a GA reassessment on the article as it does not meet the GA criteria in a number of essential areas. Please see my comments at GAR and the failed review of the article by an experienced reviewer three weeks earlier (Talk:Morocco/GA1) for pointers on where these problems are.--Jackyd101 (talk) 22:21, 18 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Process edit

You need to learn the article review processes. At FAC, you should take articles that you are very familiar with and for which you are likely to be able to address the concerns of the community. At GAC, you should also post articles that you are familiar with and await review by someone qualified to review it. I am not qualified to review the article that you have pinged me about.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 23:36, 18 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Your second wave of FP nominations edit

These images are still not quite "there", as it were. I suggest you stick around FPC to see first hand the kind of things that do and don't pass, and get an idea for what people are looking for. Obviously, you don't have to be certain an image will pass to submit it, but the pictures you are submitting at the moment are way below the FP line. The Wikipedia Signpost: 19 October 2009 edit

Interviewing Sandy edit

If you'd like to interview Sandy (assuming she's up for it), it's pretty much totally in your hands; just update the Signpost interviews page when you have something ready. Alternatively, after you make sure she's on board, you could draft up some questions and ask for feedback and suggestions from other Signpost writers before you start with the interview.--ragesoss (talk) 13:44, 20 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

It's probably not the best time for me to try to carve out time for this ... maybe in a month or so? SandyGeorgia (Talk) 02:18, 22 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Secret Saturdays edit

The RfA is malformed. Do you want us to delete it or fix it? And one off topic note, I suggest you archive your talk page, it is getting really long. Darren23Edits|Mail 22:21, 22 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Re:I need your opinion. edit

No, it'll have no chance at FPC- the technical quality just isn't there, and the composition isn't great- the museum itself is hard to see due to the people and cars. It's also a strange angle, and the lighting in the sky is a bit strange. I doubt it will have a chance at valued pictures, but it may have. I'm not really involved in VPC anymore. General advice edit

Hi Secret Saturdays. I see you are very keen to get involved in Wikipedia. Well done on the enthusiasm! I have just become aware of your GA review of Morocco. This has been challenged, and is about to be overturned. I also noted that you had not removed the article from the nomination list (I have now done this). When you next do a Good Article review, let me know and I'll give you some advice and assistance. When clicking on your name people land on your user page. Currently it is very rich with userboxes so it takes a considerable amount of time to load. I would strongly advise you to cut back on the userboxes. It is also helpful to archive your talkpage so people find it easier to navigate. I can show you how to do this if you wish. I also note above that you nominated yourself for adminship, but the page was not completed properly. You have the option of finishing it off or having the page deleted. As people with less than 12 months experience do not get accepted for adminship - and it wouldn't be a comfortable experience for you getting rejected at this stage - it would be best for the page to be deleted. I can do that for you. Please get in touch with me on my talkpage to discuss any of these matters. Regards SilkTork *YES! 18:15, 24 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

"You have new messages" edit

I noticed you have a fake "You have new messages" sign on your userpages. Could you remove them? Per Wikipedia:User page, simulated Mediawiki interfaces shouldn't be used outside of testing. Shubinator (talk) 00:19, 26 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
