Internal copying
I see that you created the article Mark Olf, with the edit summary "create article from other user's sandbox". This is, I'm afraid, unacceptable, because copying someone else's contributions without saying whose contributions and where you copied then from is a breach of the author's copyright. Wikipedia content is licensed for reuse under a very broad free license, but the terms of that license require that such reuse must be attributed. Can you say where you copied it from? JamesBWatson (talk) 12:37, 25 July 2012 (UTC)
- This appears to be from User:Jmolf/sandbox. We should probably slap the sandbox history onto the beginning of the history of this one. Ryan Vesey Review me! 12:44, 25 July 2012 (UTC)
- I think they asked me to move it but I still wanted to leave them with a sandbox instead of moving it. So I just copied it. Rcsprinter (babble) @ 13:12, 25 July 2012 (UTC)
- In a similar case, you should move the sandbox and then replace the redirect with an empty sandbox page. There wasn't a large sandbox type history so there wasn't a reason not to use that history. If there was, it is usually best to ask an administrator to perform the move. Ryan Vesey Review me! 13:20, 25 July 2012 (UTC)
- Just to mention that per this edit, the "where it came from" was mentioned in the history. I agree, a history merge would be a good idea, there's no need to "leave someone with a sandbox", as a new one can be created. WormTT(talk) 13:22, 25 July 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks Ryan and Worm. It didn't occur to me to check the later editing history to see if anyone had said where it came from. I have now merged the sandbox history into the article. JamesBWatson (talk) 14:56, 25 July 2012 (UTC)
The Wikipedia Adventure: Request for feedback on Community Fellowship proposal
Hi! I'm contacting you because you have participated or discussed The Wikipedia Adventure learning tutorial/game idea. I think you should know about a current Community Fellowship proposal to create the game with some Wikimedia Foundation support. Your feedback on the proposal would be very much appreciated. I should note that the feedback is for the proposal, not the proposer, and even if the Fellowship goes forward it might be undertaken by presently not-mentioned editors. Thanks again for your consideration.

GOCE July drive wrap-up
Guild of Copy Editors July 2012 backlog elimination drive wrap-up
Participation: Out of 45 people who signed up this drive, 31 have copy-edited at least one article. Lfstevens continues to carry most of the weight, having edited 360 articles and over a quarter of a million words already. Thanks to all who have participated! Final results, including barnstars awarded, will be available early in August here. Progress report: We are once again very close to achieving in our primary goal—removing the oldest three months from the backlog. Only 35 such articles remain at press time. The total backlog currently sits at under 2400 articles, down from 8323 when we started out over two years ago. We are just two articles away from completing all requests made before July 2012 (both are in progress). Copy Edit of the Month: Starting in August, you'll be able to submit your best copy-editing work for palaver, praise, and prizes. See here for details. – Your drive coordinators: Stfg, Allens, and Torchiest. To discontinue receiving GOCE newsletters, please remove your name from our mailing list. WikiCup 2012 July newsletter
We're approaching the beginning of 2012's final round. Pool A sees Cwmhiraeth (submissions) as the leader, with 300 points being awarded for the featured article Bivalvia, and Pool B sees Grapple X (submissions) in the lead, with 10 good articles, and over 35 articles eligible for good topic points. Pool A sees Muboshgu (submissions) in second place with a number of articles relating to baseball, while Pool B's Ruby2010 (submissions) follows Grapple X, with a variety of contributions including the high-scoring, high-importance featured article on the 2010 film Pride & Prejudice. Ruby2010, like Grapple X, also claimed a number of good topic points; despite this, not a single point has been claimed for featured topics in the contest so far. The same is true for featured portals.
Currently, the eighth-place competitor (and so the lowest scorer who would reach the final round right now) has scored 332, more than double the 150 needed to reach the final round last year. In 2010, however, 430 was the lowest qualifying score. In this competition, we have generally seen scores closer to those in 2010 than those in 2011. Let's see what kind of benchmark we can set for future competitions! As ever, if you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Questions about Wikipedia & SuggestBot
Hi, we’ve been running a research experiment with SuggestBot and would like to ask you some questions about Wikipedia and SuggestBot. You can find more information and the questions on this page. It should take less than ten minutes to respond. We would greatly appreciate if you had the time to participate! Regards, Nettrom (talk) 21:05, 27 July 2012 (UTC)
- Hi, just stopping by with a one-time reminder that we would really like to hear from you! Cheers, Nettrom (talk) 16:44, 3 August 2012 (UTC)
Hi, thanks for the promotion, but would you mind updating the review to reflect this? It ends at neutral currently. -mattbuck (Talk) 11:35, 2 August 2012 (UTC)
- OK, done. Rcsprinter (tell me stuff) @ 11:55, 2 August 2012 (UTC)

Your motd tools
Really cool. I wish i'd known about 'em earlier ;-) benzband (talk) 21:23, 3 August 2012 (UTC)
- I don't really use them that much, how did you find out about them? Rcsprinter (chat) @ 08:41, 4 August 2012 (UTC)
- I came across someone who was using them (i used to use Hi878's before they got deleted). While i'm here i might as well try to bribe you into reviewing some mottos. benzband (talk) 12:12, 4 August 2012 (UTC)
- *Chomp chomp chomp*. Go on then, online bribes work far too well on me. Rcsprinter (babble) @ 12:14, 4 August 2012 (UTC)

Tea Leaf delivery
Hi Rcsprinter! I'm in the process of awaiting (I hope) approval to have access to User:EdwardsBot, so fingers crossed. But, in the mean time, can you still play messenger for me for The Tea Leaf issue 5? I do deeply appreciate it. The recipient list is here. THank you so much as always (and please double check that I closed the small text? Ha ha!!). SarahStierch (talk) 22:15, 3 August 2012 (UTC)
- Delivered As an administrator, can't you add yourself to the list? I could do with access myself (or admin rights?) as it would help with some things. :) Rcsprinter (chat) @ 08:41, 4 August 2012 (UTC)
Hi. I reverted your close on the above AfD. Generally, an AfD should be closed a no consensus by a non-admin only if there has been little discussion and is non-contentious. --regentspark (comment) 15:27, 4 August 2012 (UTC)
Your F3 deletion tagging
What are you thinking? None of these tags make sense; they're claims of fair use for the images in order to depict the works whose covers they are. You even tagged a public domain image as bad fair use! Nyttend (talk) 14:14, 4 August 2012 (UTC)
- I agree. Most of these images you have been tagging are mine. The logos are fair use under the copyright claimed. I would like to know why you are targeting these. --Morning277 (talk) 18:35, 4 August 2012 (UTC)
- I'm tagging them as no source, because none of them said where it was from. So either find a source for them or put the deletion tags back. Google Images is not acceptable as it only searches the web for the pictures, it did not create or own them. Rcsprinter (chat) @ 11:05, 5 August 2012 (UTC)

WP:PERM
When helping out in admin areas please make more background checks on candidates - otherwise it just creates more work for the reviewing admin. The generally required minimum for autopatrolled is 50 creations, and preferably notstubs, DAB pages or redirects. Created articles should be substantial, and free of issues. That said, we currently have serious backlogs at WP:AFC and NPP, if you have time, please consider helping out there, it would be much appreciated. Thanks. Inline Citations
Re the tag you added to my article Angela Paul re inline citations, the guidelines say they are required for “material that isd challenged or likely to be challenged”. My stub article only said that she participated in two Olympics with her placings and is unlikely to be challenged! My source “Black Gold” by respected author/journalist Ron Palenski has the subtitle “100 years of New Zealand at the Olympic Games – A statistical record. Hugo999 (talk) 11:48, 8 August 2012 (UTC)
- Alright, whatever. It was nothing personal to the article. (You might want to read WP:OWN). Rcsprinter (shout) @ 11:50, 8 August 2012 (UTC)

Image issue
Please see message you sent me regarding image:
File:The_Church_-_Metropolis_Australian_picture_sleeve.jpg
I added the link for Google images. My copy of the artwork says it is copyright by Arista Records. I'm not sure what else I am supposed to do.
Thanks.
Louis0918 (talk) 19:40, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
- You have added the copyright, which is good, but that isn't what it is tagged for. It requires a link to the source and unfortunately Google Images doesn't count, because that only searches the web for the images but doesn't create or own them. If you can find the source and add a URL link, the tag can be removed. Rcsprinter (orate) @ 08:50, 8 August 2012 (UTC)
OK. I think I understand now. I changed the source link. I hope this fixes the problem. Thank you.
DYK for Burnley Savings and Loans
On 11 August 2012, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Burnley Savings and Loans, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that Bank on Dave, an alternative to High Street banks in Burnley, Lancashire, now has a waiting list for would-be customers? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Burnley Savings and Loans. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |
DYK for Amaryllis (ship)
On 11 August 2012, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Amaryllis (ship), which you recently nominated. The fact was ... that the Amaryllis was sunk and used as an artificial reef after being wrecked by Hurricane Betsy in 1965? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Amaryllis (ship). If you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |
Hi Again!
Hope you enjoyed your vacation. My other mentor, Pol, went out of the country in June, was due back in July and to my knowledge never came back. Can we do some work soon? Would be great to get my user page looking like I know what I'm doing around here! "Selene Scott (talk)" —Preceding undated comment added 04:53, 12 August 2012 (UTC)

thank you for the barnstar. I found your page while fixing pages in Category:ParserFunction errors. I check all the new pages in that category about once every two days. if it looks like an obvious fix, then I try to fix it. some of the pages there are broken on purpose, but I try to fix those that are not.
