Against 'primarily'?

Excuse me, and pardon the interruption, but why are you against the word 'primarily' on a school of higher education (i.e.: university or college or institute or community college or junior college)? By any chance do you have an alternate way to describe a word to represent that school of higher education in order for that school to classify its athletic conference as its primary home (especially in a basketball and football standpoint)?

For example:

• Chicago State University is an NCAA D-I Independent for most sports, but competes in the Mid-American Conference for soccer (men's) and the Horizon League for tennis (men's & women's)
• Rogers State University is a member of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association for most sports, but competes in the Great American Conference for soccer (men's)

I can understand why the motive on your behalf. But is there another way for me to describe how a school is a main member of one particular conference for either the majority of sports or all the sports of its athletics program to an extent? Corallus hortulanus article name change

Hi,

I noticed that in 2019, you changed the name of the article concerning Amazon Tree Boas from Corallus hortulanus to Corallus hortulana. The Intregated Taxonomic Information System (ITIS) as well as most internet references still reflect the name as Corallus hortulanus so I was wondering why the change was made.

The Reptile database, which updates on a quarterly basis, updated the species to Corallus hortulana. ITIS takes a long time to update.Pvmoutside (talk) 12:52, 30 August 2022 (UTC)

About the species listed in Xenoxybelis

Hi, vmoutside.

It would appear to me that Xenoxybelis argenteus is a synonym of Philodryas argentea (neither which have en.wp articles).

GBIF - Xenoxybelis argenteus (Daudin, 1803) - "(Daudin, 1803)" - disagrees.

I have just restored both "Hylarana" chitwanensis and "Bufo" scorteccii to their previous titles as per the primary reference - Amphibians of the World v 6.1. Contest results

The third edition of our monthly contest saw Quetzal1964 win for the second month in a row, scoring 68 points from 39 articles about a variety of marine fishes. In second place for the month is Olmagon, who scored 45 points from 10 articles on extinct crustaceans and geckoes. In the overall standings, Quetzal1964 leapfrogged over simongraham into first place, with 176 points from 109 articles; simongraham is now in second place with 136 points from 37 articles. The December edition of the contest is now open: feel free to drop by and participate if you work on any TOL-related articles this month.

New newsletter!

Now, this newsletter is technically not new, but I have only recently become aware of its existence and am only a month late, so it still counts. Contest results

And so ends the fourth edition of the monthly rolling contest, as well as the 2023 Tree of Life Contest as a whole. This month saw simongraham win with a very impressive 120 points from 27 articles. Quetzal1964 was second with 74 points from 37 articles. The annual contest was a close race between simongraham and Quetzal1964; simongraham won first place with 256 points from 64 articles, and Quetzal1964 was second with 250 points from 146 articles. Snoteleks was third with 79 points from 33 articles. Congratulations to everyone who won this year and my gratitude to everyone else who helped raise the quality of articles in our little corner of Wikipedia this year. Additionally, a very Happy New Year to everyone in the project and here's looking forward to continuing our good work in 2024!
