Recent additions of GR reviews to articles edit

- Because we have a history of brand new accounts showing up to whose only purpose seems to be to promote GR in various game articles and do nothing else. wikipedia is not a collection of links and any account who joins the encyclopedia and whose first edits are to continually add similar links to multiple articles is almost always reverted and asked not to do it.--Crossmr (talk) 04:39, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
- I would encourage you to read WP:NOT to see a list of things wikipedia is not. It is certainly not a compendium of all human knowledge which is often what new people mistake it for. Popular games can get hundreds or even thousands of reviews written about them, we're certainly not going to link them all. Generally there is a regular set of sites that get linked for reviews. If you'd like to encourage GR to be included there I would recommend visiting the video wikiproject here: Wikipedia:WikiProject_Video_games, however I doubt the editors will want to expand the list even further. We generally only link to a small number of reviews and then include a link to Metacritic which links to the rest.--Crossmr (talk) 13:04, 27 November 2008 (UTC)

- Yes, its in there, but as you can see so are a lot of others. Putting all of those in a single article would bloat the reception section to a massive size. While there are many options I don't think they've intended to use every field when that template is used for a game. The game is much more than the reception its received and filling up that template, as well as putting a sentence about the review in the prose, puts far too much focus on the reception aspect of the game (read WP:NOT under "undue weight"). So just because we can link to all those reviews doesn't mean we should link to all those reviews. All of thoe games except mirror's edge have been out over a month (fallout about a month) and after about a month the reception section is more or less set for almost any game except for the rare indie games that might get a new review a few months after release. While more reviews might trickle in they're not that relevant to the article themselves because we do link to metacritic and any critic of consequence is listed there as well. Unless a particular review is causing some controversy with the game or something like that (like the gamespot editor and that kane and lynch debacle) there isn't much reason to go in and add them afterward. Like I said you might want to take it up with the guys over at the wikiproject as they'll be able to give you far more detailed answer and information and help you include GR more regularly if you think its really necessary--Crossmr (talk) 02:27, 29 November 2008 (UTC)
