Nominating a page to good article status
Hi, I remember that you have made Sora Amamiya's page receive a good article status, so if possible, could you nominate Yurie Kozakai's page for good article status as well? I believe the page has everything that is required. Aerkdude (talk) 15:18, 12 February 2023 (UTC)
- Hey there, thanks for the heads up! I took a look at the article and unfortunately I don't think it's anywhere near close to being a GA. It's missing a lot of information about her personal life and career, among other things. It's probably at best a Start or C class right now. - I took a look at GA pages like Amamiya and Haruka Tomatsu, and it seems that most of the information that are written in the "career" section aren't that much different from what is written in Kozakai's page. In fact, I notice that the information in the career and music sections are only about the year that they got the roles in anime or the year that their singles/albums were released, they do not contain information like how they got the roles/how significant their roles are or how their songs were commissioned/composition info. Also Amamiya's page lacks personal life section as well and Tomatsu's page only has 2 sentences, as you probably know, I do not think voice actress really like to talk about their personal life. I feel like the lead sentences in those pages are too long as well. Nevertheless, do you have any specific advice on how to improve Kozakai's page? I want to bring the page to C or B class at least, so maybe someone can work on bringing the page to GA status in the future when more information about her are available, as I think Kozakai's page has potential.
- Also, can the page's class be changed on user's own accord? Does it have to go through a review? Because I have already changed Kozakai's page from "Stub" to "Start" on my own without any review when I was expanding the page in January.
- I apologize if the talk page isn't a place for asking questions, I rarely use the talk page to discuss stuff with other users. Aerkdude (talk) 07:52, 13 February 2023 (UTC)
- My main suggestion would be to see if there are any interviews out there with Kozakai. Perhaps ones that discuss her early life, what inspired her to become a voice actress, and perhaps some early roles. I usually don't bother bringing a seiyuu article to GA unless at the very least such information can either be found, or an attempt to find them was made. You can also try looking for other information relating to their careers: for example, who their inspiration(s) is/are. In Amamiya and Tomatsu's cases: when I expanded said articles, I did try finding personal information first but I couldn't find any. It also wasn't that hard to expand both articles as both have solo singing careers. I'm not really sure something similar can be done for Kozakai, but right now I can tell you that the article would be a quickfail at GA if it was nominated. - I think it would be best for you to continue this discussion on the nomination page so that more people will see it. But basically, yes: ideally you should either replace the Forbes sources, or at the very least augment them with more reliable sources. I don't think you actually have to delete the Forbes stuff for the non-controversial stuff if you can find alternative sources, but it's probably not a good idea to have the article rely on such a questionable source. - I have to note that DYK now is very different from six years ago. Consensus can change, and hooks that were acceptable in the past may not necessarily be acceptable now. Even DYK rules change over time. Just because a similar hook was approved six years ago does not necessarily mean such a hook would fly today. - You'll have to bring this up with the reviewer or at WT:DYK, but generally speaking DYK nominations are rarely re-opened once they've been failed and closed. One option could be to bring the article to GA status and start a new nomination then. This also has the effect of bringing the article to GA status probably addressing any concerns that were originally raised during the nomination. - I apologize for that wording, I only mentioned you by name since it would have seemed impersonal if I simply said "the reviewer". It wasn't intended to be blaming anyone, and I would have done the same thing (meaning mention the reviewer by name) had it been any other editor. I uploaded more pics, with Christmas trees and related artworks, and I have two women on the Main page (for a sad reason). Our Christmas singing (of my user's infobox music "singen, singen") was pictured. Thank you for improving the Abel hook. I still feel that I failed doing justice to him.
