I dont remember the second deletion. Anyway, may be that was TOSOON. Now could be right time to redo do it properly. The article is well referenced now. Hi Nirmaljoshi. I disagree that the article was well referenced. The references you used were as followed: primary source for their own website, another primary source, good source that doesn't say much though, another primary source, a source that's seems to be just a directory, a source that vaguely mentions them, and a press release. Thank you for taking time to review. Also, please note that its difficult to find long articles in english newspaper in Nepal just mentioning about a single hospital. Even when they mention, its written like a press release as you observed. I would be glad if you go through other articles about Nepal. If GNG is stictly followed i guess more than 90% nepali articles will be deleted. Nirmaljoshi, I understand the frustration regarding GNG. I too have wished to create articles for places near me but failed to find any sources. Please see WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS though and I will not restore your article just because there are already poorly sourced ones out there. If you could point me to some I will gladly WP:PROD them. Hello. You recently removed an edit I made on the Coral Reef Senior High School Wikipedia page. I have now found the citations would like to add them. You also removed the entire Athletics section which is unreasonable. Thank you.

Hi JohnOjara and welcome to Wikipedia. The reason why both me and DGG deleted the article was that it appeared to be unambiguously advertising. I understand this wasn't your intention but writing an article on a person is much different than one for a school. A lot of your content wasn't sourced to what we consider reliable sources or seemed to pass our general notability criteria. I would recommend against creating it (for a third time) and maybe continue to work on similar articles so you get a feel for it. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 23:01, 7 August 2020 (UTC)

promotionalism in WP is not necessarily written for pay---people frequently write promotional articles on things they admire. And the promotional style is so pervasive that even a good faith editor can without specifically intending to, write a promotional article. User; Hickory has given you good advice. Hiya! Sorry to bother you with a question...Noticed from Recent Changes that you've blocked someone for having a promotional name. May I know where can I report such similar occurrences? I just added an advert maintenance tag for an article and noticed one of the editors shares the same name as the subject of the article. It suggests potential COI (I'm familiar with the COIN process), but I was wondering what's the process for reporting advert/promo usernames. Question about post edit

Hi HickoryOughtShirt?4,

Thanks for reaching out. I am writing in response to your concerns with my edits to the David Guzick page (just changed them back for now). Can you please specify which of my edits did not conform to Wikipedia's verifiability policy? I have read the resources and guidelines you provided and am having trouble finding which aspects of the article are not conforming.

The reason I had changed the page was because I noticed a couple factual inaccuracies/misrepresentations in the prior version that are corrected as outlined below:

1. As stated in the Gainesville Sun article by Kkristine Krane, Guzick was born to a second-generation immigrant family. Both of his parents were born in the U.S., so I removed the part of article that said he was born to Polish immigrants 2. There was no information in the referenced article about his title as Professor while at the University of Pittsburgh so I removed that part of the article. 3. The prior version indicated that he was inducted into the Johns Hopkins Society of Scholars and the Institute of Medicine (now National Academy of Medicine) as the result of his administrative appointments. Rather, he was elected into these societies because of his research. Since a recitation of Guzick's research was not included, a brief summary is provided to explain his election to these societies/institutes (here is the National Academy of Medicine site that describes the basis for election to the National Academy of Medicine: https://nam.edu/about-the-nam/)

Oh, wait, I'm getting called in as "another administrator"--haha, I thought it was something I did. OK, my response is threefold.

a. The article shows no reason for us to consider the person notable. There isn't a single reliable secondary source in there, and the only URL is to a WordPress blog that mentions that supposedly the subject played a small part in an otherwise unknown 12-minute movie. IMDB is user-submitted (likely by the subject or their agent/publicist) and thus not helpful as a source; the list of movies there gives us no reason to think the subject notable, not until Bigfoot: Path of the Beast hits it big.

b. The text is clearly written by someone who is all too close to the subject, including all kinds of details about the subject's youth that if the person were notable wouldn't even be known. That one of the supposed references is "Personal communication" is never a good sign.

c. The text is written the wrong way around: someone wrote up the suspect's biography, and then tried to find, or hoped to find, something to serve as a reference. It should, of course, be done the other way around: you start with the sources to see what you can pull out of it. In this case, there's no sources.

In summary, I'd say that rejection was the right solution here. Let me add one more thing, Oxyrinchus: you asked for an administrator. Administrators judge all kinds of things, but they are not arbiters of content. Fortunately for us I know a bit about article writing too. Hickory here has judged thousands of articles since they have volunteered for so long in the Articles for Creation process (a thankless task for which I am very appreciative), and you can have some trust in their judgment. Hi Newport2020 and welcome to Wikipedia. I know it can be disheartening when an article you write is deleted but it failed to comply with Wikipeida's standards. You may be unaware of this but Wikipedia has rules and guidelines every article must follow. The ones I will specifically highlight that said article violated was WP:NPOV, WP:V, and WP:RS. All content on Wikipedia must be sourced to reliable source and needs to be neutrally written. Content like Habib has always been committed to supporting female artists because he recognized early on in his career, that the art world is not one of parity. Women were for the longest time barred from the music industry. This imbalance motivated Habib to discover young female talents to help them break barriers and give them a voice. is very clearly promotional and unsourced. this is your message for deleting may Article but why can't you explain what part of my article is promoting or advertising this artist? talking about how many songs a singer has released and what a singer has achieved is not promoting or advertising. Hi Newport2020 you have posted the same question on various editors talk pages and we have all tried our best to explain it to you. I suggest checking out similar articles to see how to write neutrally. Writing articles is tough, I didn't write my first one until like 5 months in. Anyways: If you mean removing the Kent Parson information on the Check Please! page its because I moved it to a new section I created further down. Yeah, I didn't post a response there because immediately after I started the new section it went into. It took, what, five minutes between changes??? Could you please let me know why as I have put a lot of effort into getting this right and felt that the previous rather poor list of recent events was not very adequate. There are two references which I combined into one. One was a book by David Peackok (a local historian, the other was the website of the old newburians. I give the article in full below with the added references at ther end as follows:

Excessive

The earliest mention of an established grammar school in Newbury is in 1548 when the school is recorded as being at the Litten chapel, part of St Bartholomew’s hospital between Newtown Road and Argyle Street. The hospital itself was established in the late 12th century and by 1548 had been affected by the dissolution of the monasteries. There is a much quoted earlier will of a cloth merchant, Henry Wormestall who in his will dated 1466 bequeathed funding to pay for a teacher. The school took its name from the hospital and would remain at the Litten for centuries. In the 16th century Newbury was well known for its cloth and in particular the father and son merchants Jack O’Newbury who devised production line processes. The only head teacher known during the next 300 years is Thomas Parker, head teacher in 1630. In 1634 he left and lead 100 Wiltshire men to found the town of Newbury, Massachusetts on the estuary of what became the Parker river on America’s east coast, near Boston. He continued teaching there until his death in 1677. Part of this town of Newbury split off and became Newburyport in 1764. The school survived the Civil wars including the two battles of Newbury but declined as its funds were appropriated by the unreformed corporation in the late 18th century and in the early nineteenth century it closed. In 1849 a new body of trustees rebuilt the Litten and revived the school which opened with 60 boys being taught. The headmaster was Henry Newport. In 1876 the headmaster was the Rev. J. Atkins. In 1885 the charity commissioners agreed to the provision of new buildings in Enborne Road at the corner with Buckingham Road for 150 pupils including 20 boarders. In 1902 the Rev. Atkins retired and was replaced by Edward Sharwood-Smith. He had considerable enthusiasm for the school and in 1903 composed the (very Victorian) school song and the school moto. After the tragedy of the first world war he named four school houses after ex-pupils who had died in the 1914-8 period, three of them killed in action. These were Curnock, Davis, Evers and Patterson. Sharwood-Smith retired in 1924 and in 1925 he was replaced by the Rev.T.Rutherford-Harley. He lead the school through the second world war and in 1948 was replaced by J. Andrew Ballantyne. In that year the combined cadet force (C.C.F.) was established at the school. The 1950’s was a period of recovery from the war, in which many of the teachers had fought. There were many older-style features – teachers wore gowns, the head master could still use the cane and games were restricted to cricket and rugby. In 1960 Andrew Ballantyne retired and was replaced by Basil E.D. Cooper. There followed a period of progressive reform. In 1968 the boarding house closed and in 1975 he was to take over running of the comprehensive school formed by the merging of the boy’s grammar school with the girl’s high school at the other end of Buckingham Road. The Newbury girls grammar school had opened in 1904 in the technical institute in Northbrook Street. Miss Esther Jane Luker was the first headmistress and seems to have had an enthusiasm and charisma to match that of Sharwood-Smith. Both lead their schools through the first world war. In 1910 the girl’s school moved to purpose-built premises in Andover Road with 250 pupils. The school groups, equivalent to the houses at the boy’s grammar school, were Jade, Flame, Blue and Gold. In 1933 Miss Luker retired. After the second world war Miss Ireland became headmistress in 1945. She retired in 1968 and was replaced by Miss Gray who carried on till the merger with the boy’s grammar school in 1975 when, as noted above, Basil Cooper became headmaster of the combined comprehensive school. The comprehensive school formed in 1975 took over the name of St Bartholomew’s School together with its motto. Initially the school used the previous buildings with the boy’s grammar school buildings given the name of Wormestall while the girl’s high school buildings took on the name of Luker. The boy’s house names were kept but each was merged with one of the girl’s colour groups. In 1985 Basil Cooper retired and was replaced by Robert Mermagen . In 1994 he, too, retired and was replaced by Stuart Robinson. In 2009 he was replaced by Mrs Christina Haddrell but stayed on to cover the transfer to new school buildings in 2010. These were built between the sites of the two previous schools on Buckingham Road, but nearer the old girl’s High School on the south-west side of Fifth Road. Both of the previous school buildings were converted into private flats. In 2011 the school gained academy status. In 2014 Mrs Haddrell retired and was replaced as Headmistress by Ms Julia Mortimore.

Sock?

I noticed Special:Diff/975520172. Did you do (or are you doing) any further investigation of this supposedly new user, who added that template in creating their user page with their very first edit, or do you think they maybe copied someone's user page and forgot to remove it? They've since done some questionable things, found CSD and AfD (odd for a new user), etc. I did some searching for common user page items and didn't come up with anything in which I had high confidence. Thanks for the sanity check. I hate to make a public accusation and be wrong (which is why I rarely do it). Seems like I might wait just a bit as their contribs might show a familiar pattern. Considering recent events on the talk page of the user in question, the ducks are basically giving me tinnitus at this point. I have no idea who the sockmaster might be though.
