List of members of the IIHF Hall of FameEdit

Do you have time to help finish the missing people at List of members of the IIHF Hall of Fame? I am willing to do a few, but don't want to do them all myself. I have tried reaching out to folks who edit Swedish and Russian players, but no luck so far. I finished the missing Canadians and Americans a bit earlier. I am slowly working on the missing German, Austrian and Swiss inductees. Flibirigit (talk) 19:14, 23 January 2019 (UTC)

@Flibirigit: I absolutely have time and would love to help. I might be editing a little less in the next 4 days because of work I need to catch up on (at least I should be editing less but Wikiaddiction is real) but I'd be happy to help whenever I can. I find Google Chrome's translation app very helpful so it shouldn't be too hard working on non North-American people. How do you want to go about it? Do you have people who are a "priority" or do you want to split it up 50/50?HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 19:19, 23 January 2019 (UTC)
There's no rush to complete the list. I'm working on other subjects too. It's probably easier to focus on one country all at once, so you sort of get used to one language for a while. Also, most of these people have biographies in other Wiki languages. If you're working on Subrt, do you want to do all three of the Czech members? I will do the members from Austria, Germany and Switzerland, since I can speak some German. Flibirigit (talk) 19:24, 23 January 2019 (UTC)
Sure, no problem! I've checked out Subrt's page on other Wikipedia's and have used at least one of the same source but they are typically pretty poorly sourced unfortunately. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 19:27, 23 January 2019 (UTC)
I see you already started Quido Adamec, and connected him to his versions in other languages. Well done. Flibirigit (talk) 00:46, 24 January 2019 (UTC)
And thank you for copyediting! Grammar is not my strong suit. Subrt is taking a little longer because I feel there are huge gaps of information I want to fill in but I have it sitting in my sandbox. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 00:48, 24 January 2019 (UTC)
No rush at all, there's no deadline. I probably will only do just one or two IIHF Hall of Famers per month, since I am focusing on other things. Flibirigit (talk) 01:01, 24 January 2019 (UTC)
The IIHF Hall of Fame article itself could use some improvements too. Flibirigit (talk) 16:06, 28 January 2019 (UTC)

I noticed some additions to the list of inductees to include the Torriani Award. Could you verify the names? I'm on a mobile phone for a couple days and have limited access. Thanks! Flibirigit (talk) 17:55, 6 February 2019 (UTC)

Flibirigit I've gone around and can confirm that each person listed as a Torriani Award winner has actually received the award. I found it strange no mention of this was on Torriani's page so I will be making a point to greatly expand that page sometime in the future. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 21:11, 6 February 2019 (UTC)
Thanks for looking into this.Flibirigit (talk) 22:14, 6 February 2019 (UTC)

Checklist 1Edit

Red links at List of members of the IIHF Hall of Fame. This list should make sure we don't duplicate each other's efforts. Flibirigit (talk) 17:58, 27 January 2019 (UTC)

Flibirigit Right now I can take the Swedes and Calcaterra if you don't mind. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 06:30, 28 January 2019 (UTC)
That's fine. You will probably be going faster than I am. While you're working on the Czechs, would you be able to dig up sources on Mike Buckna? He's a Canadian-Czech and really undercited. Flibirigit (talk) 16:06, 28 January 2019 (UTC)
I just finished a big article overhaul. I should have time for a couple of these this week. Flibirigit (talk) 05:19, 29 January 2019 (UTC)
Keep up the good work, and thanks for finishing the Czechs! Flibirigit (talk) 21:17, 2 February 2019 (UTC)
Wow, you are so fast on catching that! Thanks for the support, it took a little longer than I thought but it's good. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 21:22, 2 February 2019 (UTC)
Since you're in that linguistic area, mind if I give you the Slovakian bio? I should have three of my own for next week. Flibirigit (talk) 21:26, 2 February 2019 (UTC)
Ya, no problem! HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 21:28, 2 February 2019 (UTC)
Switzerland is finished. When you're ready to do Dahlberg from Sweden, there are citations available at the Joe Kryczka article. Thanks. Flibirigit (talk) 22:11, 4 February 2019 (UTC)
Denmark is done. I won't be online much for a few days. Will check back with you on the weekend. Flibirigit (talk) 01:52, 6 February 2019 (UTC)
It looks really good, thank you for the update. I am currently working on Berglund. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 02:28, 6 February 2019 (UTC)
Do you mind adding the Torriani Award winners without articles to this list? I can't cut and paste well on my phone. Also, please put the Hungarians under my name. Thanks! Flibirigit (talk) 19:28, 7 February 2019 (UTC)
Flibirigit   Self-trout Whoops, sorry! I just made a page for Dieter Kalt Sr. because I must've missed him on your side of the list. I hope you haven't done much research for him. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 23:30, 7 February 2019 (UTC)
No worries. He was the only one I hadn't got around to. I have done preliminary research on the others. I will replace him with the biography from Norway. Flibirigit (talk) 00:46, 8 February 2019 (UTC)
Germany is finally done. I'm going to work on the Austria-Hungary biographies now :) Flibirigit (talk) 21:25, 14 February 2019 (UTC)
Thank you for the update! I have been swamped with work but I am slowly working through Arne Grunander and Curt Berglund. It's difficult based on the age of these guys to find quality sourcing. I am always impressed by how thorough the pages you create are. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 21:30, 14 February 2019 (UTC)
Thanks, and no rush here. Flibirigit (talk) 21:44, 14 February 2019 (UTC)
I have no idea how to read Hungarian... google translate helped a lot! Flibirigit (talk) 07:23, 20 February 2019 (UTC)
I've been using google translate a lot for these Swedish fellows because sometimes google chrome isn't being triggered. Honestly, half of my family is from Montreal and I still have a Grade 8 basic level of French! Great new article! HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 07:26, 20 February 2019 (UTC)
Schade... quel dommage... drats! I added in the previous red links I started in case you want to read. I think we're making good progress with this list. We should be finished by springtime. Flibirigit (talk) 17:53, 20 February 2019 (UTC)
I struggled to find much on Norway. I left it as a sourced stub. Flibirigit (talk) 15:48, 22 February 2019 (UTC)
One more Russian down. We're getting close! Flibirigit (talk) 21:26, 22 February 2019 (UTC)
Dokončila sa ďalšia. I just completed Ladislav Horský. I found a surprising amount of web based content on him despite his death in the 1980s. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 21:51, 22 February 2019 (UTC)
We're making good progress lately. Flibirigit (talk) 22:01, 22 February 2019 (UTC)
I've had a couple days off from work (thank you Dalton McGuinty) so I've been spending a lot of time editing.HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 22:05, 22 February 2019 (UTC)
Walter Waterbird was hard to find much for. Flibirigit (talk) 17:28, 23 February 2019 (UTC)
A contributor from Norway expanded the Tore Johannessen stub, and I found a couple more sources for him. I will probably start on Hans Dobida on Monday! How are you doing with Sweden? Flibirigit (talk) 02:58, 24 February 2019 (UTC)
I will do Finland and Ukraine. Would you mind doing to last Russian? Flibirigit (talk) 07:47, 24 February 2019 (UTC)
No I don't mind. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 14:35, 24 February 2019 (UTC)
So it looks like the page on the last Russian already exists (Igor Dmitriev (ice hockey)) but it is only sourced to one citation so I will try expanding it. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 01:45, 26 February 2019 (UTC)
Thanks for finding that, and expanding it would be great too. There are probably a few undersourced stub article on this list we should look into after the red links are done. Flibirigit (talk) 01:53, 26 February 2019 (UTC)
Ukraine is finished. Flibirigit (talk) 16:20, 26 February 2019 (UTC)
Grunander is done! HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 02:21, 27 February 2019 (UTC)
Excellent. Please check the citations at Joe Kryczka article for mention of Dahlberg in the 1972 Summit Series. I have the remaining five on my list full researched. It's just a matter of writing now. Flibirigit (talk) 02:43, 27 February 2019 (UTC)
Thank you, that will be really helpful! HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 02:50, 27 February 2019 (UTC)
Dobida is done. Flibirigit (talk) 20:02, 28 February 2019 (UTC)
Ove Dahlberg is done and I nominated it for DYK. I found his career very interesting and it was a pleasure to research. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 00:57, 1 March 2019 (UTC)
Excellent, you should be done Italy this weekend. I have the other four researched, and should be done writing by next weekend. Flibirigit (talk) 01:23, 1 March 2019 (UTC)
Finland is finished. Unfortunately I could not open any of the links on the Suomi version of the article. If you can, please add citations. Thanks. Flibirigit (talk) 20:54, 1 March 2019 (UTC)
I updated some of the urls through the Wayback Machine [1] but they wouldn't be of use to you. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 21:13, 1 March 2019 (UTC)
I guess we can add Italian to the list of langauges I will never speak but finally Enrico Calcaterra‎ is done. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 02:07, 2 March 2019 (UTC)
I dunno about you, but I speak Italian all the time when talking about food! I will done the other three by next week, and join you on Checklist 2. Flibirigit (talk) 02:21, 2 March 2019 (UTC)
Are you able to find this in the Wayback machine? Thanks. 05:01, 5 March 2019 (UTC)
Yes [2]. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 05:04, 5 March 2019 (UTC)
 ! Arigato ! 05:13, 5 March 2019 (UTC)
Hungary is done. I'm close to finishing Japan and Bulgaria. Flibirigit (talk) 20:28, 5 March 2019 (UTC)
Japan is finished. I should be done Bulgaria soon. Flibirigit (talk) 19:50, 7 March 2019 (UTC)
It's all done. Thanks for the teamwork! Flibirigit (talk) 23:31, 12 March 2019 (UTC)

Checklist 2Edit

We should make a checklist of the stubs to expand for the IIHF Hall of Fame. We should also include, uncited articles, and major maintenance tags. Flibirigit (talk) 01:06, 1 March 2019 (UTC)

I added the first two the need work. Please add more, and put a {{done}} check mark in front of the name when you're finished. Flibirigit (talk) 01:20, 1 March 2019 (UTC)
I added the Canadians... this will keep us busy for a while. Flibirigit (talk) 01:33, 1 March 2019 (UTC)
Wow, you added a lot. Did you make it through the whole list? Flibirigit (talk) 01:45, 1 March 2019 (UTC)
I did not because I didn't want it to become too overwhelming. Looking now, I can probably remove a few articles that just need expansion but not a lot of references or major tags. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 01:50, 1 March 2019 (UTC)
Maybe group them by the most urgent, and see how far we get? There's no deadline after all. Flibirigit (talk) 01:55, 1 March 2019 (UTC)
That's a good idea. I think I'll group them based on how poorly written/most work they require, how viewed the article will be (ie. how many links from other articles come here) etc. to decide which is most urgent. Likely expanding IIHF Hall of Fame is most important since all these articles link to it and many more. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 02:11, 1 March 2019 (UTC)
Regarding Yoshiaki Tsutsumi, according to his Japanese language article, it is the same person. This was also confirmed in a discussion at WikiProject Japan. Flibirigit (talk) 19:41, 5 March 2019 (UTC)
Perfect, thank you for checking. That article needs a lot of work in my opinion. It seems to mostly focus on the criminal activities and doesn't even mention the IIHF. Not to mention it has limited ininline citations. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 19:45, 5 March 2019 (UTC)
Maybe we could recruit help at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Japan#Yoshiaki Tsutsumi? Flibirigit (talk) 20:17, 5 March 2019 (UTC)
I will redo the IIHFHOF article as soon as I finish the Bulgarian. Flibirigit (talk) 07:25, 8 March 2019 (UTC)
I am working on the IIHF Hall of Fame article itself. I should be done by Friday. Have you had time to work on this checklist? Flibirigit (talk) 23:34, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
I have a little bit. I personally think Kompalla can be expanded more but it is in much better shape than when I started. I would also like to work on Bye-Dietz a bit more, specifically her NCAA career. I am participating in an edit-a-thon in a few weeks for Women In Red so I have been focusing on that a bit. On a side note, I think Bruce Dowbiggin is probably as good as it's gonna get.HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 23:39, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
I agree, we probably won't find much more without significant effort. I will let you start the main space article. Flibirigit (talk) 00:13, 13 March 2019 (UTC)
I don't generally move things from my sandbox so I probably did that wrong. I'll find an admin to help me delete the history that shouldn't be there. Anyways, its up at Bruce Dowbiggin. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 00:22, 13 March 2019 (UTC)
I have finally completed the rewrite for the IIHF HOF. I am beginning the process of separating the Torriani recipients from the HOF inductees, as they are not mutually inclusive. Flibirigit (talk) 18:24, 23 March 2019 (UTC)
How do you feel about making a "Checklist 3" for recipients of the Paul Loicq Award? It's the other pominent IIHF honor which is incomplete. I'm not sure if every recipient passes WP:GNG, but it could be worthwhile to explore. Flibirigit (talk) 19:16, 23 March 2019 (UTC)
Sure, I can do it in a little while. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 19:18, 23 March 2019 (UTC)
No rush, I won't be online much in the next two weeks. Flibirigit (talk) 21:03, 23 March 2019 (UTC)
I should be back online a bit more regularly as of tomorrow. How have you been? Flibirigit (talk) 20:53, 10 April 2019 (UTC)
@Flibirigit: Welcome back, I hope you enjoyed your time away. Haven't worked much on this list as I've been focusing more on the Elmer Ferguson Memorial Award but I'm working on Monique Scheier-Schneider (other list) who might be notable. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 20:58, 10 April 2019 (UTC)
I am going to focus on the two award namesakes, Torriani and Loicq, and also finish my essay on Father Bauer. I figure those will keep me busy for some time. Flibirigit (talk) 05:34, 20 June 2019 (UTC)
I am making progress with research for Paul Loicq, and there are adequate sources available online and in the newspaperarchives. Flibirigit (talk) 22:00, 26 June 2019 (UTC)
Do you have any DYK hook suggestions for Paul Loicq? Something in addition to the first European in the HHOF would be nice. I want to nominate this by July 31 for his August 11 birthday. Thanks. Flibirigit (talk) 03:51, 31 July 2019 (UTC)
@Flibirigit: I'll add my two cents shortly. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 23:16, 31 July 2019 (UTC)
The nomination at Template:Did you know nominations/Paul Loicq has five proposed hooks with a review in progress. Comment if you would like. Flibirigit (talk) 03:40, 1 August 2019 (UTC)
I am going to resume working on David Bauer (ice hockey) and Bibi Torriani. When you're back into hockey mode, let me know. Flibirigit (talk) 01:28, 16 August 2019 (UTC)
Der ni-sturm
  • I am almost finished Bibi Torriani. He played on a famous forward line known as Der ni-sturm (The ni-storm) alongside Hans Cattini and Ferdinand Cattini. Would you be interested in a fivefold expansion or a clean-up of the Cattini brothers? I plan on nominating Torriani for an October 1st DYK, for his birthday anniversary. There is potential for all three players to be included in the hook. Any thoughts? Flibirigit (talk) 20:30, 20 September 2019 (UTC)
@Flibirigit: I can attempt a five-fold (it’ll all be in English :) ) Seems like a lot of information is missing. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 20:45, 20 September 2019 (UTC)
It will make more sense when I post the Torriani update tonight or tomorrow. I will also provide you with a translation from German sources. Flibirigit (talk) 20:54, 20 September 2019 (UTC)
The Bibi Torriani update is now posted. Flibirigit (talk) 02:26, 22 September 2019 (UTC)
@Flibirigit: Way to go! Looks so much better now. I don't think I hit five-fold with Ferdinand Cattini but I did give him a healthy update. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 04:55, 22 September 2019 (UTC)
Thanks, I updated the entries below. Flibirigit (talk) 12:45, 22 September 2019 (UTC)

Unclaimed Should get done relatively soon:

Not so important right now

Checklist 3Edit

Last year I tried to find enough information on Kent Angus to write an article, but all I could find is the single announcement from the IIHF that he won the Paul Loicq Award. If you think he passes WP:GNG, go ahead with an article. Flibirigit (talk) 21:29, 24 March 2019 (UTC)

I haven't forgotten about these. I hope to look into some after finishing my current project. Flibirigit (talk) 14:17, 14 May 2019 (UTC)
I completed an article about our Luxembourgian leading lady. I see that a one-sentence stub was just created yesterday for Patrick Francheterre. It should be expanded soon. Flibirigit (talk) 00:35, 20 May 2019 (UTC)
@Flibirigit: Thank you! I was beginning that one too, what a coincidence. When I get off from work, I'll see if I can merge my content with yours. I think I'll attempt to expand the stub and work on the Canadian one next. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 00:42, 20 May 2019 (UTC)
I will start working on expanding Patrick Francheterre tonight and tomorrow. Flibirigit (talk) 03:24, 20 May 2019 (UTC)
I have located foreign language wiki articles for two more red links below. Flibirigit (talk) 04:08, 20 May 2019 (UTC)
I definitely have enough content for Francheterre, hopefully I can finish his article within a couple days. Are you still working on the Kent Angus article? Flibirigit (talk) 04:15, 21 May 2019 (UTC)
@Flibirigit: I was, but I agree with your assessment above. I despise creating stubs (although I know the value of them), and that is likely what Angus would turn out to be. I think Bo Tovland would be a better place to start. He absolutely passes NHOCKEY and GNG, without a doubt. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 04:19, 21 May 2019 (UTC)
No worries. Go ahead with Tovland. Flibirigit (talk) 04:22, 21 May 2019 (UTC)
Francheterre is done. Have you had time to work on Tovland? Flibirigit (talk) 21:39, 30 May 2019 (UTC)
@Flibirigit: Another nice article! I've done pretty good work on Tovland if I do say so myself. I'm aiming for Monday at the latest to post. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 22:19, 30 May 2019 (UTC)
@Flibirigit: Made a decent Start article for Tovland. Will be able to improve soon.HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 01:20, 4 June 2019 (UTC)
Re: Tovland, he is not inducted into the IIHF Hall of Fame. Recipients of the Loicq Award are not inducted into the hall itself as full members. Flibirigit (talk) 01:39, 4 June 2019 (UTC)
Oops, you're right. Removed. It wasn't in the infobox but I missed it in the lede. Thanks! HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 01:48, 4 June 2019 (UTC)
I manually added the Svenska interwiki link. Sometimes a bot adds it automatically, but didn't do it here. Flibirigit (talk) 13:45, 4 June 2019 (UTC)

───────────────────────── The next Loicq Award recipient I will tackle will be Wolf-Dieter Montag. I am trying to finish up other projects first though. It might be a couple weeks before I start his article. Flibirigit (talk) 02:55, 4 June 2019 (UTC)

No worries Flibirigit, real life is catching up with me too. I'll tackle Vsevolod Kukushkin, maybe. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 04:54, 4 June 2019 (UTC)
I have enough sources for an article on Roman Neumayer. I hope to get the two Germans written with a couple weeks. Flibirigit (talk) 08:46, 11 June 2019 (UTC)
@Flibirigit: Glad you're making a lot of progress. Unfortunately, my computer has gone dead on me. It's nearly 10 years old so I was expecting it but I won't be creating new pages for at least a week. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 22:05, 11 June 2019 (UTC)
I have found enough to do articles for Kent Angus and Juraj Okoličány. I hope to finish a couple of them this weekend. Flibirigit (talk) 23:14, 13 June 2019 (UTC)
I searched ad nauseum for information on Hrbacek in German, and ended up just writing a stub article. I should have a start article for Angus posted soon. Flibirigit (talk) 17:06, 14 June 2019 (UTC)
@Flibirigit: Sorry for being so behind. With my computer out of commission I find it difficult to do much Wiki work. I will attempt to write about Vsevolod Kukushkin as I should be getting a new laptop by next week. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 17:16, 14 June 2019 (UTC)
I have found a bit of information on Isao Kataoka. I'm going to try again searching in Japanese if I can. Do you mind working on the winners from Russia? After the red links are done, we can touch up the existing articles. Flibirigit (talk) 19:34, 14 June 2019 (UTC)
Just four more red links to go! I have the German and Slovakian recipients thoroughly researched, and it's just a matter of writing them now. Do you want to work on the two Russians when you're back online? Flibirigit (talk) 05:36, 20 June 2019 (UTC)
@Flibirigit: You're soooo speedy! I should have my new laptop by Saturday of this week so that sounds plausible. I borrowed a family members laptop for the time being but I don't like it very much. I will likely do the bare minimum in terms of editing until my new one arrives. Hope to knock out one of the Russian articles before Canada Day. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 06:23, 20 June 2019 (UTC)

───────────────────────── Could you have a quick glance at Template:Did you know nominations/Kent Angus for alternative hook suggestions? My creative side is not with me this morning. Flibirigit (talk) 14:33, 20 June 2019 (UTC)

Thanks for the above. Angus is in the holding area for his July 31 birthday. Isao Kataoka is holding for his July 12 birthday. Flibirigit (talk) 22:02, 26 June 2019 (UTC)
The German doctor is done. Have a look, it seems he was an accomplished man. Flibirigit (talk) 04:41, 10 July 2019 (UTC)
Feel free to add hook suggestions to Template:Did you know nominations/Wolf-Dieter Montag if something interests you. Thanks. Flibirigit (talk) 20:04, 10 July 2019 (UTC)
Okoličány is now finished. Are you still working on Kukushkin? Flibirigit (talk) 01:09, 6 August 2019 (UTC)
Yuri Korolev (ice hockey) is now finished. I came across several articles and put them together. I hope I didn't duplicate any work you had in progress. Are you still working on Vsevolod Kukushkin? I have found out he's a journalist, and sat on the IIHF Hall of Fame selection committee. Thanks. Flibirigit (talk) 20:06, 6 August 2019 (UTC)
Yes I am still working on it. Sorry being super late to the party on this one. I am usually better at sticking to tasks :/. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 03:32, 11 August 2019 (UTC)
I finished an article for Vsevolod Kukushkin. Sorry, I was anxious to complete the list and figured you have been busy. If you found any more information, please add it. Flibirigit (talk) 20:35, 15 August 2019 (UTC)
@Flibirigit: Funnily enough, I was actively working on it. Don’t worry, I’m glad you made it. I’m sorry for not prioritizing this. If I’m being honest, I think I consistently lose motivation to write about hockey during the off-season. This happened last year too. It’s not fair to do that to you. And yes I know this is a volunteer project but it’s also a collaborative project. And I haven’t done the best at that aspect regarding these BLPs. I apologize. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 22:25, 15 August 2019 (UTC)
No worries, I have had more time than expected this month. Flibirigit (talk) 01:26, 16 August 2019 (UTC)

Journalists / A project on the sideEdit

I'm struggling to write a biography for a Canadian hockey journalist. Do you want to help? Flibirigit (talk) 03:44, 4 March 2019 (UTC)

Flibirigit I would love to! HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 03:52, 4 March 2019 (UTC)
Thanks, check your sandbox. I was surprised this article does not exist yet! Flibirigit (talk) 04:11, 4 March 2019 (UTC)
Do you think you can make it happen? It's been stuck in my sandbox way too long and not going anywhere. Flibirigit (talk) 04:18, 4 March 2019 (UTC)
I can try my best. I feel like you have more access to resources than I do (ie. newspaperarchives) so I am a little tentative in my skills if you couldn't find anything substantive. However, my month is really light (yes I know there is not a deadline) so if I were to tackle an assignment this month would be the best time. At worst, this article becomes a stub. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 04:22, 4 March 2019 (UTC)
It started as spinoff from Russ Conway (journalist), but never went anywhere. My strength is researching the older people. Flibirigit (talk) 04:30, 4 March 2019 (UTC)
Btw, my membership in newspaperarchives expired, and I am waiting for it to be renewed. That's why I have had time to do these IIHF articles. :-) Flibirigit (talk) 04:33, 4 March 2019 (UTC)
Oh I see. I believe I have access to my Universities archive of old newspapers (up until 1980-something) but this guy is still pretty recent so I'll do my best! I actually find researching and creating interesting and exciting so this is a nice break from the limited work I have. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 04:35, 4 March 2019 (UTC)
@Flibirigit: Thank you for the sources you have gathered for me. One of the sources was written by David Shoalts who I was surprised to learn didn't have an article either. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 21:46, 7 March 2019 (UTC)
If you're interested, go for it. I find that journalists and administrators are overlooked when it comes to writing Wikipedia articles. Flibirigit (talk) 22:12, 7 March 2019 (UTC)
I think you're right. I also think Dowbiggin is ready to go soon, I just want to smooth out the Eagleson report section. I feel it can be more in depth. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 22:15, 7 March 2019 (UTC)
  • I'm finished expanding the Bruce Dowbiggin article now. I will nominate it for DYK later today. What do you think? Flibirigit (talk) 14:54, 18 March 2019 (UTC)
Template:Did you know nominations/Bruce Dowbiggin. Nominated. Flibirigit (talk) 15:29, 18 March 2019 (UTC)
Looks good! HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 16:52, 18 March 2019 (UTC)

Elmer Ferguson Memorial AwardEdit

You might be interested in writing missing articles for recipients of the Elmer Ferguson Memorial Award. I figure they would pass WP:GNG for inclusion. Flibirigit (talk) 07:22, 8 March 2019 (UTC)
@Flibirigit: Thank you for showing me this, there are only so many hockey players to write about per season eh? This does interest me (from all the research that I've been doing so far I recognize over half of these names already) and it makes me practice a new skill of writing. Hockey players all typically follow the same format and path so I find it interesting to try and write a new way. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 07:29, 8 March 2019 (UTC)
It would be great if you take on the Elmer Ferguson Award. I'm going to focus more on administrators in Canada, once a few more critical IIHF articles are done. Eventually I do want to work on the Canada Sports Hall of Fame. Flibirigit (talk) 07:34, 8 March 2019 (UTC)
Of course! HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 07:36, 8 March 2019 (UTC)
I notice there's an article for Jim Proudfoot from the UK, but no Jim Proudfoot (journalist) from Canada article. If you're willing to take that on, there are several citations available in the Houston & Shoalts book on Eagleson. It's an interesting read if you can get a copy. Flibirigit (talk) 18:13, 8 March 2019 (UTC)
I am commenting here to make sure this section doesn't get archived. Do you have any Elmer Ferguson Memorial Award in progress? Flibirigit (talk) 16:36, 6 August 2019 (UTC)
@Flibirigit: I have User:HickoryOughtShirt?4/Ted Damata which could use some improvement. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 19:00, 6 August 2019 (UTC)
That's one name I am not familiar with. I will post something here when I chose a recipient to write about. Flibirigit (talk) 20:09, 6 August 2019 (UTC)

Scott YoungEdit

I did a bit of copyediting at Scott Young (writer). He's an Elmer Ferguson Memorial Award winner, and the father of a couple famous musicians. If you have time, I could use help. Real life is keeping me very busy lately. I'm almost finished a separate project I am working on. Thanks. Flibirigit (talk) 23:17, 19 April 2019 (UTC)

@Flibirigit: While I don't mind popping in to help (he seems like an interesting guy), it seems this article was copied from here (which in turn, seems to be transcribed from a Globe and Mail article I can't access [4]). If true, this means the entire article needs a re-write. I am not sure why Earwig doesn't pick up on this [5]. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 05:54, 20 April 2019 (UTC)
Thanks for pointing that out. Sometimes a rewrite is a good thing anyhow. Flibirigit (talk) 11:12, 20 April 2019 (UTC)
If you have time, this journalist and writer needs an overhaul. Flibirigit (talk) 03:27, 16 September 2019 (UTC)
OK! HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 03:29, 16 September 2019 (UTC)

Philip RossEdit

I forgot to ask, were you still interested in Philip Ross? He's the journalist who predates the Elmer Ferguson Award. Flibirigit (talk) 14:24, 14 May 2019 (UTC)

This one will take a bit longer to research and clean up, but you might be interested. It's not on my radar yet. Flibirigit (talk) 03:32, 16 September 2019 (UTC)
Flibirigit, I can attempt it. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 03:34, 16 September 2019 (UTC)
Thanks for the improvements. I formatted the references lists as the end, but some citations need more complete info. The introduction paragraph should be made longer too. Do you have time to look into the above and a few uncited statements? Flibirigit (talk) 12:14, 16 September 2019 (UTC)
Oh ya Flibirigit, I wasn't done. That was just an initial update. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 19:04, 16 September 2019 (UTC)
Sounds good. I did a few small updates this morning. I will try to get a gravestone photo when I am in Beechwood Cemetery. We could also add any photos from before 1923 which would be exempt from copyright. Flibirigit (talk) 19:11, 16 September 2019 (UTC)
If you can't get to the cemetery, I live around it as well. It is easily within driving distance. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 19:35, 16 September 2019 (UTC)
You're much closer than me at a bit over four hours away. I won't be in Ottawa until November at the earliest. Please go ahead if you have time. Flibirigit (talk) 20:08, 16 September 2019 (UTC)
Oh, shit. I was looking at the one in Vaughan. That was the first hit on google. Sorry! HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 20:11, 16 September 2019 (UTC)
All in due time. I will get there eventually. I will be finished Torriani this week. Flibirigit (talk) 20:16, 16 September 2019 (UTC)
Maybe @Earl Andrew: could help! Flibirigit (talk) 20:18, 16 September 2019 (UTC)
Sorry about that, that was a bit silly of me eh? I am almost done Tim Moriarty. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 20:30, 16 September 2019 (UTC)

Jack GatecliffEdit

@Flibirigit: Thanks for the understanding. I've begun Jack Gatecliff at User:HickoryOughtShirt?4/Jack Gatecliff however it is difficult to find reliable sources online. The "best" I found it this which is obviously unacceptable being a fan forum. Do you have any sources you know of?HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 17:59, 16 May 2019 (UTC)

I think the best place to look is the Newspaper archive. Also, the HHOF archives might be helpful. Flibirigit (talk) 18:13, 16 May 2019 (UTC)
It looks decent so far. Flibirigit (talk) 03:55, 24 May 2019 (UTC)
@Flibirigit: Jack Gatecliff is   Done but could use some expansion from offline sources. I'm trying to nominate it for DYK. Thinking special occasion request for September 5 (DOD) or date of 2019 winner (seems to be June (?)). HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 20:27, 27 May 2019 (UTC)
If there is an annual ceremony that could be an anniversary, otherwise I would just go with a regular nomination. I will try to look into offline sources on the weekend. Real life is getting busy this week. Flibirigit (talk) 01:47, 28 May 2019 (UTC)
I had a look into the newspaperarchives, but didn't find anything new to contribute to Gatecliff. Flibirigit (talk) 15:19, 3 June 2019 (UTC)

Frank BrownEdit

Here's the 2019 nominee [6] Are you interested? Flibirigit (talk) 11:44, 1 June 2019 (UTC)

@Flibirigit: Ha, you read my mind. I've already begun working on it when I saw the news yesterday  . HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 12:55, 1 June 2019 (UTC)
Thanks again. Flibirigit (talk) 15:10, 1 June 2019 (UTC)
Any progress on Frank Brown? Flibirigit (talk) 22:42, 6 July 2019 (UTC)
Yup Flibirigit. Expect it up in a few days! HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 13:39, 7 July 2019 (UTC)
Flibirigit before I post the article today, do you have a better title suggestion than Frank Brown (writer)? HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 11:53, 12 July 2019 (UTC)
Frank Brown (journalist) is another option. I don't see either in use at the Frank Brown disambiguation page. Writer could be a better choice if he did more writing than journalism. Flibirigit (talk) 15:16, 12 July 2019 (UTC)
@Flibirigit:   Done as journalist. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 00:03, 13 July 2019 (UTC)
A citation is missing for the year of birth. Do you remember where it came from? Flibirigit (talk) 13:59, 13 July 2019 (UTC)
@Flibirigit: In the article linked above, it says “Brown's professional writing career began in 1970 at the age of 18” and here it says he was 65 in 2018. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 14:18, 13 July 2019 (UTC)

───────────────────────── A footnote should be in the article, with that explanation. Flibirigit (talk) 19:35, 13 July 2019 (UTC)

  Done HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 21:46, 13 July 2019 (UTC)

Stan ShillingtonEdit

I have come across the name Stan Shillington several times as Canadian lacrosse writer and researcher. He is inducted into the Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame, see profile here. Would you be interested? Flibirigit (talk) 15:12, 21 August 2019 (UTC)

When I get back from vacation (Saturday) I’ll definitely try. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 15:26, 21 August 2019 (UTC)
@Flibirigit:, you can check out what I've begun at User:HickoryOughtShirt?4/Stan Shillington. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 05:03, 25 August 2019 (UTC)
It looks like a good start. Flibirigit (talk) 12:17, 25 August 2019 (UTC)
Flibirigit, Anything you want to add before I publish? I think I've exhausted all sources I have access to. One thing troubling me is that I think he went to UBC per this as the times add up but I cannot find any other source. If you are able to find any, I would love to add it to expand the article. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 20:25, 27 August 2019 (UTC)
I looked in the newspaper archives, and found mention of a Stan Shillington who worked in policing in Canada, but I did not find a definite connection to this person. I think you're okay to go ahead with the source as is. Flibirigit (talk) 21:06, 27 August 2019 (UTC)
Flibirigit He did work for the police force for quite a few years [7]. Thanks though, I'll go ahead and publish. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 21:08, 27 August 2019 (UTC)

/* History */ updateEdit

Thanks Hickory:

I will have to think further about this after my teaching is over for this year.

DYK for Jennie PorterEdit

On 30 August 2019, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Jennie Porter, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that African-American educator Jennie Porter refused to let teachers at her all-black school join the NAACP after its local leaders criticized her views on segregation? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Jennie Porter. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Jennie Porter), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Hi I am new as far as editing with wikipedia. It is my understanding I have to add with my own words? Just wanted to be clear. Seems as though my edits are being retracted. Wahdanomar (talk) 16:20, 6 September 2019 (UTC)

Hi Wahdanomar and welcome to Wikipedia. I suggest you read over the links I have left on your talk page. Wikipedia has very strict copyright rules and the content you are adding is both promotional and copied directly from the schools website. Can I ask if you are connected to this school in any way (such as intern, paid employee, volunteer, paid by a third party)? HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 16:22, 6 September 2019 (UTC)

I was a student there graduated 2004, was trying to update the information. They seemed to have a transition and changes. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wahdanomar (talkcontribs) 16:45, 6 September 2019 (UTC)

Wahdanomar, ah okay. It is very kind of you to try and keep Wikipedia updated but as a new editor, there are probably some rules and policies you are unaccustomed to. As with any academic institution, copying and pasting text from a website is not allowed. You are encouraged to add this information in your own words and with preferably third party sources. I know this can seem overwhelming but Wikipedia has a page that explicitly lays out good sources to use (WP:RS). You may also want to complete the Wikipedia Adventure, an interactive tour that will help you learn the basics of editing Wikipedia. You can also visit the Teahouse to ask questions or seek help. Olga LoeraEdit

Reverts needed--and what's being done in the infobox with nationality etc. makes no sense. Thanks! (talk) 16:19, 12 September 2019 (UTC)

  • Oh, I forgot I voted for you in your RfA, and my vote carried the day--we also need a block and some rev-deletion per User talk: Thanks, (talk) 16:20, 12 September 2019 (UTC)
  • Masem took care of that one--thank you Masem. (talk) 16:21, 12 September 2019 (UTC)
    • Hi Bob (I'm assuming this is Bob) and thanks for dropping by. Long time no see. I've been dealing with COI issues on this page since January  . I am a little hesitant to protect the page because I am WP:INVOLVED but making a request at RFPP may be smart. I have reverted the mess of the infobox. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 16:24, 12 September 2019 (UTC)
      • Well, you know what they say about assuming, haha! No, not Bob. (Oh! you mean 99! No, that's not me, but he owes me.) Looking at your edits, I'd say that INVOLVED isn't really applicable since what you were reverting were obvious COI edits, and User:OLoera is now blocked. In other words, your edits were policy edits, not content edits--that is how I would phrase that. Materialscientist, who blocked that editor, might semi-protect the article anyway; if you want to play it safe, sure, go to RFPP. But Materialscientist might just drop a COI/promotion/sock block at User talk:, and that would be helpful too. Thanks for keeping it clean, (talk) 16:32, 12 September 2019 (UTC)
  • BTW, have you placed a rangeblock yet? Look in the history of South Asian river dolphin--and please revert the vandalism by Thanks, (talk) 16:35, 12 September 2019 (UTC)
    • Oh sorry   Facepalm, and no I have yet to place a rangeblock. I read over the instructions and felt that might be better left to others. I am currently checking into South Asian river dolphin. Thanks for the headsup HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 16:38, 12 September 2019 (UTC)

Hi, Thanks for cleaning up Subhra, I think the socks are related to Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Subhrakant sahoo. also User:Houaiiui67846 was only blocked for three days. - Scio c (talk) 03:37, 16 September 2019 (UTC)

Hi Scio c and thanks for the comment. I'll add these users to the SPI. I think Alexf was being generous with a three-day block but I am sticking with my indef until they can prove they are WP:HERE. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 03:39, 16 September 2019 (UTC)
Yes, I'm not sure he was aware of the socking, I mentioned it in my AIV report and was surprised with only a three day block. Also SK, SKP, SRK (disambiguation), were hit earlier, there are quite a few more accounts and IPv6 addrs involved. I should have added this to SPI earlier but it's not something i'm really familiar with. - Scio c (talk) 03:47, 16 September 2019 (UTC)
@Scio c:, I wasn't aware of the socking either, so thank you for pointing me to this SPI. On that note, don't worry about not being familiar with Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations. It's kind of a weird, niche area with limited players in it. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 03:51, 16 September 2019 (UTC)

Earlier today you blocked this user, commenting "Promotional username, promotional edits." I believe I'm not allowed to formally appeal a block on behalf of another user, but I would nevertheless appreciate it if you would reconsider this block. KansasLCMS' sole edit doesn't strike me as self-promotion, consisting of a few statistical updates and some grammatical/wording improvements. Unless there's a second edit that has since been deleted, I don't see anything that falls afoul of WP:PROMOTION. I'm guessing your concern was less promotional (spam) editing than COI editing, but even then, I'm not convinced that there is actually a conflict of interest. KansasLCMS could very well be a lay LCMS member from Kansas, rather than an employee of the LCMS' Kansas District. Even if the user is an employee of the district, I wonder if a warning about COI editing might perhaps be the best first step. Regards, Bnng (talk) 21:14, 17 September 2019 (UTC)

Hi there Bnng and welcome to my talk page. I first want to say I completely understand your POV. I would get annoyed sometimes too if I was having a constructive conversation with someone and an admin blocked them for a promo username. However, I have come to understand that they still need to abide by our rules and policies. The actual block is for both promotional edits and a promotional username. Accounts must only be operated by one person and their username is solely a reference to Kansas District of the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod, which is clearly multiple people. If their username was even JaneDoeKansasLCMS that would be a different story, but it wasn't. If they agree to a new username, and to properly declare their COI, they will be unblocked. I want to say we need more people like you on Wikipedia, who assume AGF and are willing to go to bat for new editors. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 21:26, 17 September 2019 (UTC)
HickoryOughtShirt?4, thank you for the quick reply. I suppose I'm still not convinced that their username must be understood as a reference to the district, rather than simply to the LCMS' presence in Kansas, but I won't argue the point any further. Would you mind adding an explanation on their talk page (e.g., Template:Uw-softerblock), so they understand the reason they were blocked? Thanks for your (by the look of your contributions, apparently indefatigable) zeal in fighting vandalism on Wikipedia. Bnng (talk) 22:34, 17 September 2019 (UTC)

@LocalKnowledge1234: Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. You clearly have a direct conflict of interest with this subject so you should not edit their page directly. Wikipedia is not censored and sourced, neutrally worded material is kept in articles. Her being a porn star was a major part of her life, this is not going to be removed simply because the subject doesn't like it. Please understand the article subject does not own the article. You should make WP:edit requests on the wp:talk page and declare your conflict of interest on your user page. I suggest also reading Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons/Help after reading our conflict of interest policy page. If you continue to remove content from her page, which is becoming disruptive by the way, you may be blocked. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 17:06, 19 September 2019 (UTC)

Is there any way this page can be removed as it was not a large part of her life, it was at most a couple of years of a forty year life and a fictional character. All we would like to do is remove personal details if that is possible. LocalKnowledge1234 (talk) 17:27, 19 September 2019 (UTC)

LocalKnowledge1234 The problem is you are removing the details that make her notable. In order for a page to be deleted, you should attempt to nominate it for articles for deletion. This is a process where the Wikipedian community gets 7 days to come to a consensus (not a vote!) about if a page meets our notability criteria or not. You would specifically be focusing on the criteria of WP:ENT for pornographic actors and models. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 18:28, 19 September 2019 (UTC)

Non stop ruining heritage of other nations on the encyclopedia:Edit

Dear Sir;

Kindly please see Arab cuisine history page, a user with the name of Sarah Canbel is systematically Bedouin-izing and Arabizing other nations ancient heritage and countries. She insists on putting Egypt and the Levant under Bedouin cuisine category! [8]. She also insists on removing Coptic national dishes. Her account old history is literally based on wiping off nations' heritage on the encyclopedia and Arabizing everything they own, literally everything for her is Arabia (cuisine, arts..etc) as if all the neighbouring nations didn't exist before speaking arabic and never ever owned heritage of their own, this seems very suspicious and racist. She even rejects adding the category 'North African Cuisine' along with 'Middle Eastern' to the page, eventhough the page has many North African countries listed, she's passing them all under the Middle East cuisine category even though they aren't Middle Eastern nations. Kindly please help and thank you Sir. Foodiebest (talk) 22:10, 20 September 2019 (UTC)

Hi there Foodiebest and welcome to Wikipedia. As a newcomer to Wikipedia, you probably aren't aware of a very important policy called Wikipedia:BOLD, revert, discuss cycle. What this means is that if someone reverts you, or you revert them, instead of continuing the cycle you should discuss it. I see no conversation on Talk:Arab cuisine or Sarah Canbel talk page. This would be the first place to start. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 04:44, 21 September 2019 (UTC)
Thank you and done Sir! My point was putting false things on the encyclopedia pages is a sign of dishonesty and misleading its readers and should be warned because not many people from these countries are revising these pages. I thought i should seek help from the administration to investigate editors with an obvious political agenda. Foodiebest (talk) 14:21, 21 September 2019 (UTC)

Hello! Sorry if I am messaging you in the wrong place but I am new to Wikipedia. I was not aware of the guidelines surrounding editing a Wikipedia page of an organization that you work for. The information was outdated and I was instructed to make edits as we just went through a rebrand. Edits such as: - Updating our CEO, headquarters, logo, website, products and overall messaging.

If this is an issue can you please let me know how else we can update our page?

Hi Megbrennan and welcome to Wikipedia. I want to be very clear here that no one owns your company page and you do not have a right to dictate what is written on it. In saying this, your best bet would be to walk away. Us volunteer editors often resent that paid or conflict of interest editors write non-neutrally, displaying obvious bias toward themselves or their clients, and write promotionally. A neutral point of view is one of the five pillars of Wikipedia, and is non-negotiable. The encyclopedia is here for knowledge, it isn't here to be used as a personal website. Secondly, you must declare your conflict of interest on your user page (followWP:DISCLOSE) and use WP:Edit Requests on the articles talk page (as Roxy has said before). This is the only way the community is comfortable with COI editing. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 18:16, 24 September 2019 (UTC)

Defamation on wiki page Chad FrazierEdit

This article written is showing false reports made on this arrest. All charges were dropped and dismissed regarding this case but there is no article to verify that, only court documents available. The webmaster for this article has been contacted also. Asking that this be removed from this wiki page. Thank you

On April 17, 2014, Frazier got into an altercation with an unidentified female and threw a laptop across the room at her. Later, he became violent and pushed her against a bookshelf and tried to pin her to the ground, punching her several times. He was later charged with third degree domestic violence.[4

Crenshaw, Solomon (June 5, 2014). "UAB point guard Chad Frazier arrested, charged with third-degree domestic violence". The Birmingham News. Retrieved June 11, 2018. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ointment05 (talkcontribs) 11:24, 28 September 2019 (UTC)
Hi Ointment05 and welcome to Wikipedia. I think that an incident that causes someone to be suspended from a team is worth mentioning on their Wikipedia page. Of course, adding charges were dropped is important too. I do not think this counts as defamation and you admit it is not false as he was charged. What I think is important here is that you declare your obvious conflict of interest (as asked 3 times on your talk page). HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 11:57, 28 September 2019 (UTC)

The report made on the article about being charged and throwing laptop, pushed against bookshelfs, etc are from a false police report. Charges were dismissed because of that reason.

There was no suspension made from team or school. This player was granted his release at his request after the school decided on no suspension. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ointment05 (talkcontribs) 19:55, 28 September 2019 (UTC)

None of the sources state it was a false police report but I have removed the laptop throwing etc. I still think this deserves WP:DUEWEIGHT. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 20:05, 29 September 2019 (UTC)

I have the following sources:

The reason I did not include these is that I thought they won't be accepted.

If you review and think these are okay I'll include.

Thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by Amberdometer (talkcontribs) 17:54, 30 September 2019 (UTC)

Hi Amberdometer and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you so much for sending me these sources. One of the most important policies on Wikipedia is verifiability. Please be bold and always include your sources, especially on biographies of living people. The article itself is already terribly sourced and I removed text that was just promoting him on iTunes. If you want to re-add the text, please remove mentions of iTunes or anything that seems not neutral. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 18:00, 30 September 2019 (UTC)

Hi there,

I was working on updating on updating my schools page and you undid all the extra information I put in. The page hasn't been updated in years and needed new statistical information, club list updates, and athletic descriptions. All information and pages were citied and linked for clarity, especially when they came directly from the school. The hope would be that students in each specific group would update their groups pages as I am only familiar with a few.

Hi there MJWB and welcome to Wikipedia. The content you added violated Wikipedia's very strict copyright rules and was unambiguously promotional. Please understand that no one owns this page and you do not have a right to dictate what is written on it. Us volunteer editors often resent that paid or conflict of interest editors write non-neutrally, displaying obvious bias toward themselves or their clients, and write promotionally. A neutral point of view is one of the five pillars of Wikipedia, and is non-negotiable. All of your edits (besides being copyvios) fails these rules. The encyclopedia is here for knowledge, it isn't here to be used as a personal website.HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 20:46, 1 October 2019 (UTC)

Re: OpenpoultrystandardsEdit

I strongly support a speedy re-name - but I suspect your user rights dont allow you to do so? JarrahTree 03:07, 5 October 2019 (UTC)

JarrahTree, correct they don't. I also doubt their reasoning since if they were adding content specifically regarding Open poultry standards and if you google it, the first hit is the page they were editing. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 03:19, 5 October 2019 (UTC)
If another admin disagrees, I won't object to it. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 03:22, 5 October 2019 (UTC)

DYK for Alice D. SnyderEdit

On 8 October 2019, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Alice D. Snyder, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that professor of English Alice D. Snyder helped lead the campaign that earned women in New York the right to vote? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Alice D. Snyder. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Alice D. Snyder), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Tom RenneyEdit

Do you have time to look at Tom Renney? A bunch of citations were recently removed. I don't have time right now to look into newer citations. Also, the user which removed them appears to be new. Could you leave a welcome message? Thanks. Flibirigit (talk) 18:19, 9 October 2019 (UTC)

Barrie Colts arena nameEdit

Do you have time to follow-up at Barrie Molson Centre? It was discussed here, but nobody got around to it. Btw, I'm close to finishing an essay that is taking up 99% of my time. Flibirigit (talk) 15:36, 11 October 2019 (UTC)

I just added citations to the article. I am unsure if you wanted me to move the article but I would wait until a sponsor is found. And take your time, write a great essay  . HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 17:57, 11 October 2019 (UTC)
Your update looks great as is. There didn't appear to be a move consensus when discussed. Thanks again. Flibirigit (talk) 18:24, 11 October 2019 (UTC)

John Roxburgh (politician)Edit

John Roxburgh (politician) is finally complete. Can I take a vacation now? :-) Flibirigit (talk) 19:09, 13 October 2019 (UTC)

Wow, fantastic job. You definitely deserve a vacation! My family has the bright idea of going to Winnipeg in January to see the Leafs play..still technically a vacation. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 19:40, 13 October 2019 (UTC)
I highly recommend visiting the Canadian Museum for Human Rights. I have been there myself. Any DYK suggestions for Roxburgh? Flibirigit (talk) 22:21, 13 October 2019 (UTC)
Flibirigit, DYK....that turkey breeder and orchardist John Roxburgh organized the Ontario Juvenile Hockey Association and served as president of the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association?
DYK...that besides serving as president of the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association, John Roxburgh was also a Liberal Party of Canada member of the House of Commons of Canada?
Thanks, I am also going to consider introducing a bill to have hockey declared as Canada's national game. Flibirigit (talk) 00:50, 14 October 2019 (UTC)
Could you help at Template:Did you know nominations/Jack Roxburgh? Thanks. Flibirigit (talk) 15:04, 15 October 2019 (UTC)

Jeanne Sauvé Memorial CupEdit

Hi. I know that you're Canadian and have an interest in ice hockey, and while it's an entirely different sport, do you have any interest in Ringette? The article linked above is not the best of shape at the moment, especially compared to some of my other articles. I probably should have started it in draft space first. I'm trying to do some research of my own, but if you can help at all, I'd greatly appreciate it. Clovermoss (talk) 23:50, 15 October 2019 (UTC)

Sure Clovermoss, sounds interesting. It might be easier if you started expanding the article in a sandbox so both of us can work on it simultaneously. I just worry if you are doing your own research we may overlap. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 00:24, 16 October 2019 (UTC)
That sounds great! Is there a specific sandbox you had in mind? Again, thanks for offering to help. I really appreciate it. Clovermoss (talk) 00:26, 16 October 2019 (UTC)
No, just like User:HickoryOughtShirt?4/Jeanne Sauvé Memorial Cup (or under your user name). HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 00:28, 16 October 2019 (UTC)
Okay! A subpage anywhere is great, as long as I know where it is. Clovermoss (talk) 00:34, 16 October 2019 (UTC)
Clovermoss,   Done (User:HickoryOughtShirt?4/Jeanne Sauvé Memorial Cup). Just copy and paste whatever you have started (if anything) and I'll help where I can. Maybe also post on some Women In Red Project pages too.HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 00:38, 16 October 2019 (UTC)
Clovermoss, Betty Shields deserves an article too ([9]). HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 01:28, 16 October 2019 (UTC)
Okay, I'll see what I can do! I just spent the past half hour trying to improve the Olympics section of Ringette, see here [10] if interested. That article has a section of notable athletes as well, most of which are red links. Clovermoss (talk) 01:43, 16 October 2019 (UTC)
Have to go to bed now since it's a schoolnight. I'll do more research on Betty tomorrow and everything else if I have the time, but the little I was able to find about her was quite impressive! She's definitely notable. Clovermoss (talk) 02:00, 16 October 2019 (UTC)
Today was busy. Didn't have as much time to edit. These two articles are my priotory as soon as possible tomorrow, though. Clovermoss (talk) 02:38, 17 October 2019 (UTC)
Clovermoss, no worries. It is reading week for me so that's why I've been on Wikipedia a lot today. There is no deadline, so do not worry. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 02:39, 17 October 2019 (UTC)

Wrong linkingEdit

Can you help me? Marc Newson page contains a link to Magis, that should be an Italian design industry. But the link takes to the page of a religious association. I'm not very keen on English version of Wikipedia, I tried to create a Magis' page but I was reported and the page deleted. — Preceding unsigned comment added by IBOSIO (talkcontribs) 12:50, 16 October 2019 (UTC)
